Jen was the best part about my first experience with Heyser Cycle. We spoke on the phone first about a specific helmet I was looking for and she was very enthusiastic and eager to help. She recommended I come in person to check fit before I order the helmet. She said when I come in to tell them I had an appointment with Jen to ensure she was able to continue our conversation. When I arrived the next day I was greeted at the front door by a salesman (didnt catch his name) who I told that I was there for an appointment with Jen. He found this hilarious and proceeded to make sarcastic remarks about it for the remainder of the time he was with me. This came off as extremely condescending to his coworker Jen who was just trying to ensure I had a good experience. Not a great experience for my first time in your store. Finally, their prices. I wanted to buy this helmet from a cycle shop instead of on a site like Amazon first to support a local business and secondly to ensure that the product I received was legit. Safety equipment like helmets are not something you want to risk. I was a little disappointed when their prices were higher than buying directly from Bell's website. It was only $30 more which isn't a huge deal but I am still a little shocked. Ultimately I would recommend checking this place out but if you do make sure to ask for Jen. The salesman seemed a little too big for his boots and could likely use a lesson in professionalism and maybe a side of humble pie. read more

I have been looking for a reliable place to get my first oil change. My friend referred me here. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Ricky. He explained the differences in the oil changes and I wanted my 1st oil change to cover everything. They are going to check my fluids, chain, etc. I then walked around the store and was also greeted by Jenny.. Jenny was super pleasant and very friendly. I had to purchase these shoes because I couldn't find my size online! & Guess what it was the last pair! Ha! They fit perfectly! Soon after my purchase, I spotted the cardo edge. Now listen, I was going to wait because I have been riding with AirPods on my rides. But the cardo said you might as well get me while you're here waiting for the oil change! So what do you think I did?!? YEA! I got them! , Dan was accommodating in explaining the different cardos that they have. So I decided to go for the cardo edge. Everything was AWESOME. Heyser has been my local shop since I started riding motorcycles in 2004. The parts department is always a great help and very courteous. However, the service department is why I will no longer be doing business there. I had a mechanical issue with my sportbike and when I called the service department I was told that they were not taking in bikes older than 10 years and also that it was first come first serve AND that they were taking appointments four weeks out. The underlying feeling from the call was "Everyone is spending their stimulus money so we don't need your money right now. Good luck" I feel like a better response would have been, "We are currently swamped with business but we appreciate yours and if you don't mind waiting, we would be happy to take a look at your issues" read more

I went to get new tires put on my bike, and they were able to get me in pretty quickly and even adjusted the chain that was a little loose. The customer service in service could use a little work, but the lady in parts is really cheerful and friendly. The prices do seem a bit high for some services, but it's a good place to go for smaller services. read more

Mixed views about Heyser. Service staff and financing staff were very good and the salesman Ronnie who sold me my used bike was ok until after I sign the dotted line. One of the plastic covers was broken and he said they would order me one. I bought the bike April 14, 2021 and still have not received the cover. I called twice and the salesman who sold it to me said it was on back order however when I spoke to parts they didn't even have me in the system for an order. I think the salesman just blew me off. Also the bike came inspected however after getting it home I noticed that the tires were the original tires from 2008 so they had to be replaced at my expense. read more

Their service department is horrible. Took the bike to get inspected, failed a damn near brand new bike. Took it to another inspection station passed with no problem at all. Service people are rude. Tried to get a service ticket out of me. Will never be going back and any chance I get to tell my horrible story I will be taking. The young lady behind the service desk is really nice but if you're not buying a bike or dumping hundreds of dollars on something there you're treated pretty badly. I would suggest finding inspection somewhere else unless you're ok paying extra money, or being treated very rude. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Jenny. She is something special. Jenny was very helpful and patient with me. I truly enjoyed her customer service. I was their for about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. No fault of hers or the shop. I was indecisive back and forth between jackets. Jenny gave me options; made me feel like she really cared about what I wanted. She really made my day and my experience their one to remember. Because of her patients and excellent service I can proudly say that I spent more money than I wanted to because of my experience and I felt good about my purchase. It was worth every penny. This review is only for the service department of Heyser Cycle Center. If you are considering doing their $100 diagnostic of a problem on your bike, read this and think twice. TLDR; a professionally trained technician asked $100 just to tell me my "right switch is bad", It took me 10 minutes, $0 and 0 skill to realize it was just dirty and to clean it for it to work perfectly. On a motorcycle road-trip from San Francisco to NYC, I realized that my starter started having trouble starting and that my headlight wasn't working anymore. After checking the battery, the fuses and several other options I concluded that something might be wrong with the starter, and stopped at Heyser in the hope of getting it fixed to finish my trip. The service department suggested to do a $100 diagnostic which covers a technician for a full hour of labor and could include a quick fix if it's an easy one. After barely 20 minutes, the mechanic concluded "right handle bar switch has gone bad" and that it would cost $100 for the part and $150 in labor to repair. I couldn't stay in Maryland for the several days needed to get the part and install it, so I decided to finish my trip and get it fixed back home in SF. Before spending $250 to repair the complete right switch, I decided to open it and instantly noticed that it was really dirty, which is obviously a problem for electrical contact. I simply cleaned the starter button and everything worked like new! It took me 10 minutes and no mechanical skills, but common sense, to identify and fix a problem which a professionally trained technician and Honda expert couldn't do in an hour long labor time..! I don't know if Heyser simply wanted to make quick money on a non local, or just didn't want to bother too much with my bike, but this $100 diagnostic is at best unprofessional if not a total rip off. read more

I don't ride, so this is based on bf's experiences. I believe he was referred here by another rider a couple years ago, and he decided he liked them more than the previous place he'd take his bikes. All the employees ride, and several of them race, so they each have personal experience and knowledge to share with the customers. Bf has taken each new purchase here to have Heyser look them over and tweak some things as needed. Also brought bikes here for repairs 1) after an accident and 2) undetermined brake issue. After the accident with that bike, they had it for 2-3 months (maybe more?), and didn't seem to be in a hurry to return it. (He was keeping it as salvage.) Most recently, with the brake issue, they figured out the issue within a day or so but took 3+ weeks (and a couple reminder phone calls) to get the part from an after-market supplier. Bf said he would bring the part himself if it would move things along, and I guess that lit whatever spark needed to get things going again. They had the part within a day or so & he finally got the bike back. So, good base of knowledge, but hiccups with actually getting service work complete. read more

I've deliberated whether or not I'd post my experiences with Heyser on here, because although there was a HUGE screw-up that became extremely frustrating at the time, the staff were very quick to own up to those mistakes and attempt to compensate me for it, in whatever way possible. Having said that, I would recommend Heyser to others BUT I feel inclined to at least let other potential customers know what to be weary of beforehand, so they don't go through the same headache I did. Last year I dropped off my bike, a Ninja 300, at Heyser to get several recalls fixed under Kawasaki's warranty. Bear in mind the fact that this was a brand new model on the market, so there were a LOT of 300 owners doing the same recalls at the same time. I was told by Heyser staff that getting the back-ordered parts in stock and replaced would take 4-6 weeks. Unfortunate, but nothing I could do. Six weeks pass. I called Heyser and was told that the parts were still back-ordered. "Okay.... please let me know when they've come in." Again, unfortunate - but if the parts were back-ordered, what could I (or Heyser) do? Another two weeks pass. I call Heyser again. Still back-ordered. I call around other shops to inquire what the status of their repairs are, and find out that they had all their recalls done and out the door within THREE weeks of initially being brought in. I'm pissed. I call Kawasaki and ask why Heyser's parts still haven't gotten to them, only to find out that Heyser NEVER put in the order for them. ".............wut." Long story short, a Kawasaki rep actually gets in touch with Heyser FOR me, and finds out that Heyser's ordering system (supposedly) made it appear to Heyser staff that the parts had been ordered - but the order never went through to Kawasaki's systems, and Heyser staff assumed that the lack of response meant they were still back-ordered. So, Kawasaki fixed Heyser's mistake (without me even asking) by overnighting the parts to them, and sending me a few (REALLY cool) gifts as an apology. For this, Kawasaki has my praise. Heyser got the parts and immediately had my bike ready for me by the end of the next day, and gave me a substantial discount on future purchases (Kawasaki covered the cost of recalls here) as well as an apology from upper management when I arrived. What made this further frustrating for me was that it delayed the sale of my bike several times, at a time where I could've really used the money for the fall semester. And by the time that it was finally fixed, it was the middle of winter - which meant no one was looking for a bike anymore. (The bike didn't end up being sold until the following spring, and at a reduced price.) While I'm inclined to believe that Heyser is telling the truth - and that it was a simple electronic error with their systems - it shouldn't have taken two months for ME and Kawasaki to figure that out FOR them. Management should be constantly reviewing older orders and following up on why they're still around, and if they had done so within the first three weeks of my bike being there, this never would've happened. Having said all of that, Heyser was quick and willing to own up to their mistakes and figure out a way to help settle this for me. For that, they get a neutral score of three stars. And despite this experience, I actually returned to their store on a few occasions after learning they had new staff. I was greeted by friendly, enthusiastic staff who went out of their way to help customers out and were happy to just chat about bikes in general. So, I've added a star on for that. Since this experience, I've heard nothing but positive experiences from friends who also went there, and I even brought my new bike, a CBR600RR, to them to have my tires replaced. They've been great, and I think the change in ownership and staff has had a positive impact on their standing with the biking community. I wish them the best, and would recommend them to others... just make sure you stay on their ass about keeping you up to date. read more

A motorcycle state inspection took a longer than expected and it was much more expensive than other shops. On top of that, they failed me for things that were outside of my control, like handle bars hitting the fuel tank. The bike is stock with no modifications and no accidents, the handlebars were fine and the bike was titled in VA where it passed inspection just fine. I took the bike to another shop and it passed without me having to adjust or change handle bars. That shop charged me $60 and finished it in 15 mins. Heyser charged over $100 and took 20+ mins to fail me. read more

I had back to back problems at the service section of the dealership I've been using near my house since 2001 so I decided to take the trip to Heyser for new tires, installation and inspection. I had a small issue and after a quick conversation with Olson, it's all set. That's a stand-up employee and Heyser is a stand-up dealer. I went in to get a service done, and observed the service tech lock the brakes up while driving down the street. Not necessary to check brake function. When picking up the bike, I noticed that someone had done a burnout with it. I was extremely unhappy with a service tech doing things to my bike that I would not do myself. When you price a 4 year old motorcycle $1200 higher than the current year's version, there is something wrong. The used bike prices are not competitive, at all! The new prices are better, but not great. My main issue with the store is the sales person will not give you a full quote over the phone. It's ridiculous. I would like to know how much a product is, with all fees included before I make a trip to the location, especially if you are paying thousands of dollars. They refused to do so. And so, I refused to do business with them. The place isn't very inviting. It needs a coat of paint or some better lighting. The bikes have dust on them, and many of the same bikes have been sitting there for months. The service area seems to be very knowledgeable and cordial, though they are a tad high on the prices. My cousin had work done there, and he has no complaints, except for the prices. read more

These guys really know their stuff and took the time to educate me and fit me with the right generator. The manager even followed up with me a week later to make sure I was taken care of.
