I was initially afraid it was going to be heavy on the salt and flavor, but was quite surprised how well-balanced everything was. The pecan salad with sliced peaches was the highlight dish surprisingly. The chicken fried steak and the smothered porkchop were delicious, but that salad outshined those entrees. This was a great find in Lockhart when not craving BBQ from one of the well-known BBQ spots. The…read moreservice is top notch. Friendly and hospitable. It's a small dive bar with indoor and outdoor seating. They have a good variety of beers on tap and bottles, I think. I only had the ones on tap. The food is great. We had the fried okra (whole pieces) and onion rings, which are delish. Not salty and the batter does not fall off, which is a plus. We also ordered the patty melt, bahn mi burger and boneless wings. We enjoyed them all. Good portions and flavorful. This is our go to in Lockhart when not in a BBQ state of mind.

Well, it's Schlotzsky's...so you know what to expect from them. Every time we have ordered from…read morehere, we always get what we order and expected. Me personally, I'm not a fan of their sandwiches in general, so I usually opt for a salad, soup, or flatbread/pizza. I love their seasonal salads, as well as their tomato soup and bread sticks. Once in a while, we will grab their pizzas on BOGO Wednesdays. My son enjoys their chicken caesar and tomato soup. And always gets extra breadsticks. Hubby loves their sandwiches. So, it works for all of us. At times when we feel like a treat, we will order the cinnamon rolls, or the centers. They always seem fresh when we do. We have never dined inside, however, the drive-thru at times can be busy. Also, be sure to pay attention when going thru the drive-thru as it is very narrow. Again, it's Schlotzsky's. Nothing fancy, but a great option for a sandwich spot that has a drive-thru.

I stopped into Chaparral while on a brief trip to Lockhart, and what I didn't expect was a huge 5K…read moreand 10K to be happening at the same time I was in town. A ton of the runners and spectators needed a little coffee fix after the race, so Chaparral had a huge rush while I was in town. This created a long line and a long back order of drinks. Instead of complaining about how long it took and OH MY GOSH HOW DARE THEY MAKE ME WAIT, I have to give them credit. Though the 3 people working were slammed, they were churning out orders quickly and efficiently, fighting off the rush one drink at a time. It took about 20ish minutes to get my coffee, but after getting my hot lavender latte with oat milk, it was worth the wait. It was a very quality cup, and it was just what I needed to start my day. The shop is super narrow, but super cute and stylish. The roadrunner LED on the wall really added to the shop's character. Next time I'm in Lockhart, I'll go out of my way to get back to Chaparral. Loop & Lil's offers great vibes and delicious pizza all around!…read more I was looking for a quick bite to eat after a little hike with my family. We decided to check out Loop & Lil's in downtown Lockhart. It was a Monday afternoon and it was pretty quiet inside. There were a bunch of people at the bar, with tons of open seating in the dining area. We ordered a beer and a cocktail. My gin cocktail was so refreshing and delicious! We ordered a small Greek salad and the Out of Towner pizza with no meat, sub mushrooms. Salad was great, everything tasted fresh and their croutons were so good and herby! As for the pizza, amazing! 10/10. It was so good I forgot to take a picture haha. The dough was light and fluffy, it had great leoparding on the bottom. They pesto was good and all of it together was wonderful! I also enjoyed their ranch too, had a dill flavor to it. Service was alright, but their food is the real superstar! Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for quality food!
