Yesterday, I talked to one of your reps about a flat tire. She referred me to a corporate line. I called them and was told I could receive a voucher and that AAA would pick up the Tesla Model 3 for delivery to the Pep Boys Tire shop. However, the shop they referred to was closed, so the drivers decided to drop it off at Les Swab, which was nearby. Swab replaced the tire with a bill of approximately 288 dollars. Swab called the Aurora office and reached the Hertz representative. She said I had to pay. I returned the call and told her they would cover it. She disagreed and insisted I had to pay for it, then corrected herself and said she didn't care who paid, but they wouldn't be, which was false. After I explained that I didn't have to pay and that, even if they refused, I'd have either my credit card insurance or my business insurance (State Farm), she hung up on me. I called back and stated, "Maybe we got off to a wrong start. I was only trying to say that I wasn't required to pay for it." She kept cutting me off, insisting she didn't care and that somehow it was my responsibility, then hung up on me, again. I called back to ask why she kept hanging up on me. She has repeatedly hung up on me, even before this interaction. When I rented a car from another location, she promised to switch me to another car if I called back in the morning, but when I did, she broke that promise and, without another word, rudely hung up on me. In the last conversation, I asked for her name, and she countered, " What is your name? I don't even know you. I told her my full name, and she reiterated that I was responsible for the car's repair and hung up. I tried to call back to speak to a Supervisor, but no one answered. Also, I paid for the car repair because the corporation did not provide the voucher to the right autoshop. The AAA driver took the car to the wrong shop. I called maintenance, who lied and said I was told to go only to network shops, but no one, or an email, told me about a specific shop. The AAA driver decided to take it to another tire center, not me. Had I known, I would have course-corrected the driver's mistake. I am filing a complaint not only with your local office in Aurora for rude service, erroneous information, and a car with low tread, according to Les Swab. I will tell Amex, my credit card company, and review sites that Hertz at these Uber locations consistently provides poor service, making it difficult for Uber drivers to do their jobs. read more

- Kesh from Hertz I was super close to being stranded in Seattle after Enterprise refused my rental without a ticketed return -- even though they told me my debit card would be fine. They wanted $900 to use a credit card so I could get the rental without proof of ticketed return (An extra $348 than what was originally explained on the app and over the phone) I went to multiple rental desks stressed and running out of options... then I met Kesh at Hertz. She listened, understood, and immediately looked for a solution instead of a reason to say "no." From the start, she was SUPER patient, understanding, and kind. She took the time to listen to my situation without making me feel like I was a burden. She made the process SO smooth, stress-free, and even pleasant -- which is not something you can usually say about renting a car at an airport when you're states away from home. Kesh didn't just do her job-- she LEGIT saved my trip. If Hertz hasn't promoted and/or given her a raise yet, they need to. She's the kind of person you want representing your company/ brand: calm under pressure, solution-oriented, and compassionate toward customers. (ESPECIALLY AT AIRPORT LOCATIONS) Thank you again Kesh -- I wish I could tell you in person and give you THE biggest hug (from me and my mom) . I had to laugh- I booked a minivan for my trip out to Washington because my son was moving out to Whidbey Island and I was anticipating needing a bigger vehicle for potential furniture- like a dresser. My instructions were to check in at the desk, but the deck attendant informed me gold status just goes straight to the garage and gave me my parking spot number- which I had to triple check the board in the garage because my car wasn't a minivan, it was a BMW car! That's one heck of an upgrade. And lets be honest- I'll never buy a BMW and this was probably my one and only shot at driving one, so we crammed 3 large suitcases and 2 carry ons into the car and we were off. I told the gate attendant that I was supposed to get a minivan and he asked me - do you really want a minivan over this sportcar??? Bwahahaaaa Car drove nice, has heated seats- but I missed my heated steering wheel. My daughter teased me that I liked my SUV better than the beemer. Oh well. I had fun driving it, My son moved 2 hours north of Seattle and all the driving I did over the week, I still returned the car with 1/3 tank of gas- perk of gold status, you don't have to fill it up before returning it. Returning is even easier- follow the signs, pull into the line of cars being returned, grab your gear and head to the airport shuttle stop. I do enjoy renting through Hertz- I've had some horror story rentals with other companies, so I appreciate the ease that Hertz provides. read more

Presidents circle is a little small but it's not bad. Selection is just alright. Tons of Nissans and Kia's. I took the Chevy SUV if that's any indication of the selection. All Hertz Rent A Car places are 1 star. First of all, they left a car with problems for renting area and we had to go back and pick another car. Then, there was a hidden charge. Had to discuss with a receptionist with zero knowledge. Took 1.5 hour even with Gold member status. Sigh. read more

Prob one of my worst rental car experiences with Hertz. Not sure why but with my pres circle membership, they assigned me a vehicle..,which was a Polestar, which would've been fine but 1) the car wasn't even cleaned out, there was a set of silverware in the center console, and the trunk was full of paper and trash. Probably from the last driver but it definitely wasn't cleared out. 2) the CarPlay usb wasn't working and we tried 4 different cables, so it was definitely buggy. No onboard stuff so decided to take a different vehicle, Line was so damn long the first time I told them about the problem, and then I had to get in line again just to switch it out. The worst ever ( almost) 1st they did not start with the correct class of car rented so had to re- do everything, 2nd refused to honor the promotion for the free extra driver (I refused) then told me that the LDW protection from my CC company was not valid (that was a blatant lie), there was more but you would stop reading. I had one of the worst customer service experiences at this Hertz location, all thanks to a staff member named DAVID. His attitude was beyond rude, and his behavior toward me felt TARGETED AND DISCRIMINATORY. I arrived to pick up my rental, only to find that the car assigned to me was MISSING A REAR WIPER. I politely asked for a replacement, and instead of simply helping, DAVID IMMEDIATELY SHOWED IMPATIENCE. He reassigned me a LARGE CAR INSTEAD OF THE STANDARD SIZE I BOOKED--without any explanation. At the time, I didn't realize it was too small for my luggage, so I returned to request a correctly sized vehicle. That's when things got OUTRAGEOUS. The moment he saw me again, he made a DISGUSTED FACE and said, "WHY ARE YOU HERE AGAIN?" in an extremely unfriendly and dismissive tone. I calmly explained my situation, but instead of listening, HE ACCUSED ME OF TRYING TO SCAM HIM INTO A BIGGER CAR. His language became even HARSHER AND MORE AGGRESSIVE. After REALIZING HIS MISTAKE, he finally assigned me the correct vehicle, but NOT A SINGLE APOLOGY WAS GIVEN. No apology for the first defective car, no apology for his attitude, and no apology for the way he treated me. And just when I thought it was over, as I was leaving, he looked me straight in the eye and said, "DON'T COME BACK AGAIN." Not as a joke--HE MEANT IT. To make things even worse, I noticed that he treated other customers with a completely DIFFERENT ATTITUDE--MUCH MORE RESPECTFUL AND HELPFUL. So why was I treated this way? HERTZ, IS THIS HOW YOU TRAIN YOUR STAFF? If you care about customer service, AVOID THIS LOCATION. If you expect to be treated with BASIC HUMAN DECENCY, go elsewhere. Having rented from multiple firms at different airports, this location is hands down one of my least favorite. The wait for the car rental shuttle at the airport was completely ridiculous even at off peak morning hours and was over 30 minutes. That either means there are not enough shuttles or they are very inefficient at planning. Based on speaking with some people at SeaTac, it's probably a mix of both. Already a bad experience before even arriving at the lackluster facility. By far, one of the most painful experiences picking up a car here. With elite status, you still are not guaranteed being able to select a car and go, even if that's what they represent to you. Multiple clients were confused at how bad this location was for car selection and just a basic level of service. At any other airport, it's been pick a car in the appropriate aisle and be on my way. Here, they still want to assign you a car, since even they can't keep their inventory straight. In speaking with others, nobody seemed enthralled with this location or Hertz in general since customer service was not a priority. They seemed more intent on upgrading/up charging and generally only caring about money versus the client satisfaction, such as their competitors. If you can avoid this location and this company, I would do so. Rented from another rental company at this same location later in my trip and had an excellent, pain free experience. Picked a car from the appropriate row and was out in under 5 min. That's what elite status should be like. Unfortunately this Hertz location does not seem to care at all. read more

The older man at the counter was rude. He was the only person working..My car was ready for pickup, but I needed to add a car seat. We waited in line for almost an hour. I told him I knew the car was already ready--I just needed to add a car seat. He responded with an attitude, asking, "What kind of car seat?" I told him a toddler car seat. He said, "Well, I don't know what kind of car seat you need--I don't have kids." I explained again that I just needed a toddler one, but he kept huffing and puffing. I'm not sure why he was so upset--it was only around 8 in the morning. There's no reason to have that kind of attitude that early, or at all. Maybe it was because he was the only person working the counter? Either way, if he's feeling overwhelmed, he should take a break and calm down. read more

I rented a Jeep from May 10-13. To begin, the vehicles sound system did not work the entire trip. They also couldnt be bothered to pull the plastic dealership wrap off the vehicle. Upon returning the vehicle all seemed fine. Drop it off, leave the keys in it, asked if there was anything else they needed and they told me no. The next day I get my bill and this shady ass company lays the additional charges on THICK. Additional Operator for $60? I was the only one driving. Fuel and Services? $12. Filled up a mile before the drop off but apparently they're measuring mL of fuel? I drop off the vehicle at 9 because I have a flight at 10. This shady ass group decides they're going to try and get it all past the renter and charge a late return fee of $12. (They say I dropped off at 11. How's that possible? I was on a plane). All in all, do NOT rent from here. Find a company that isn't going to blatantly lie and run a scam hidden as a car rental operation. Their customer service is an absolute joke. Unless you feel comfortable spending an extra $230 in additional charges and hidden fees, find yourself another rental company. read more

UPDATE: I went to a different Hertz close to my hotel and they were able to get the extra charge of the loss damage waiver take off. They were very kind and helpful, and there was no line to speak to someone. Adding one star for this. ORIGINAL REVIEW: PUSHY PUSHY PUSHY! They will try to sell you everything extra under the sun. I declined loss damage waiver verbally but they disregarded what I said and put it on my bill anyway. Sneaky. I didn't notice until I got to the hotel. I tried to call customer service to resolve this, but it's impossible to actually talk to a human. They try to make you select a bigger car by saying your chosen car "doesn't have enough metal in front in case of a crash." If it's so unsafe, why are you renting it out? (Also fyi, metal doesn't always make it safer.) They tell you their gas is cheaper than the outside - that's true if you were planning on visiting a very expensive station but you can do better. I made a last minute booking through Expedia, it was confirmed so I went to pick up the car right away. The line was ridiculously long and the service was very slow. We reserved a Managers special electric vehicle at an awesome rate during Graduation week locally in Seattle. To our surprise JOHN helped us at the 3rd level Check in counter. Customer service 2/5 rating. He was somewhat polite but clearly not appreciative of his job working in customer service. I get it, close to 1 am in the morning and all of a sudden 25 guests come to pickup vehicles. You're tired, so are we. But have some manners and be grateful you have a job. John got us setup with a midsize (the closest I'm size availability based on inventory) no apologies they could not honor there reservation. Meanwhile all but 20ish minutes we waited in the lobby and other guests also returned unhappy with the available options-- limited to a pickup truck ONLY. Going out to the vehicle. A bright candy apple red Hyundai sonata. We see a maintenance guy wondering the garage. Ask for his help. LEONARD (5/5 customer service rating) to the rescue, courteous, patient and friendly. He checks on a few of the noticeable electric cars. Finds one that they can release to us. Leonard gives me the cliffs notes training guide on how to operate our Tesla model Y vehicle. With the help of our second guardian Angel DONNA (another 5/5 customer service rating) We just need to switch our vehicle contract out at the exit, we're good to drive out. DANIEL (5/5 customer service rating) speedy checkout and updated our vehicle contract in seconds we were on our way and driving out of the garage. Daniel wished us well on our journey and thanked us for booking/renting with Hertz. Three amazing humans just doing there job, and exceeding expectations. Please pass on my kind words to their manager, kind, humble hospitality and appreciation for wearing a smile during a late night-early morning rush. I booked a car with Hertz online and paid in advance with my credit card. When I arrived at the airport rental location, they refused to give me the car because I did not have the same credit card with me. They could not refund me at the counter, but marked on the reservation I did not pick up the car. They also told me to call them for a refund, but they never processed it. I had to rent another car on the spot, which was more expensive and less convenient. I have been trying to get my money back from Hertz for over a month, but they keep giving me the runaround. Edit: so I finally got my finalized bill 5 days after returning the rental. Hertz added more then $300 to my bill!!!! They say I returned 3 days after I returned it. Umm I was already back in Massachusetts. They say I added on the insurance coverage, which I declined because I already have rental insurance thru my insurance company. And they said I left the tank empty and charged me $70 for gas. Not sure how that adds up if they "only charge $5.05/gallon". Have attempted to get this straightened out and still waiting for call back. Pros: For my trip, this company was rhea best option cost wise. Getting to the rental pick up was a breeze using the airport shuttle bus. The line moved quickly to get to an assigned vehicle. Cons: they want a credit card. Luckily I have 1 credit card on hand. I don't believe in using/having credit ‍. The car was not cleaned before giving to me. Luckily the person before me did not leave a mess. Why do I know it wasn't clean??? I open the back passenger door, a medication bottle greets me. The middle console had several granola bars and the previous renter's paperwork from hertz. The trunk still had a shopping bag. The front floors still had dirt on the floors. There was not an attendant available in the area to ask for another key. I also didn't have time to go back upstairs and stand in line for a new rental. Upon arriving on a Wednesday morning, took the shuttle from the airport to the car rental. There was no line and was out of the car rental in 15 minutes. Great service. Returning the car rental was a breeze. We even requested to change the time to return the car and was an easy process. Car that was provided was clean, and no issues. The Hertz area is nice. The last time I was here was 2017 and it was fairly new then. Everything still looks about the same so obviously it's maintained. If you're with a group coming out of SeaTac, depending on your circumstances, it might be easier to meet at Hertz. The seating area is comfortable and much less crowded than waiting somewhere at SeaTac. The staff was very nice. They got us an Explorer which has plenty of legroom in the back. I'm 6', so it was greatly appreciated after 2.5 hours in economy. Now as for Hertz itself. ugh. How is it you book a vehicle but then it may or may not be there? But I think that's just a rental car thing now. You can do so much from your mobile phone, yet things are less organized than 1985 when you had to make a phone call to a call center. Just expect that no matter who you use, no matter how careful you are filling in your needs, you'll end up with a 10% charged Chevy Bolt when you asked for a 8-seat van. read more

Bad: -Express check-in required me to get LDW even though I had a corporate rental and my company card covers loss. 5 min w/ front desk got that fixed luckily.. -They charged me for Fuel & Service 23.84!!! I returned it with over 75% battery as required still charged for "fuel" or battery in this case since it was an EV. I'm primarily an Avis guy, but decided to try hertz for the EV being same price a a corolla. thought it'd be fun.. It was fine. I had to move my rental because of the recent snow storm and was eventually able to do that on the Hertz website. This location has a shared rental facility with multiple agencies and convenient shared shuttle bus to and from North and South terminals. Not much selection in President's Choice row, a few larger Chevy SUVs and 2 sedans. Looking at other reviews apparently I was lucky to get a car. No waiting in line after I picked out my rental. I had a 2021 car with about 22k miles. No issues driving, the back seat could have been cleaner. Quick and easy return. Just remember to leave your keys! If you really want a car in a specific class reserve it but you may still be stuck if they get jammed during a holiday weekend. read more

We waited about an hour and a half in line to pick up the car. When booking the experience as a President's Circle Member, we were promised an upgrade and an extra driver. This was all via phone and we confirmed before picking up our car at Sea-Tac. When speaking with the employee, he laughed in our faces when we told him this. We were absolutely appalled at how this situation was handled. We ended up with an extra $100+ charges that we were promised not to pay on the phone. We travel often and were planning and renting another car with Hertz in a few weeks. BEWARE OF HERTZ CAR RENTALS! Till today I only preferred renting cars with Hertz. I also rent when I go on trips to and from SeaTac airport just for a day to avoid Uber. I have all my next year's family trips ~20 days(separate car reservations/plans) with Hertz. I have President's circle. But today I realized, there is no use of this status with Hertz. I mistakenly reserved small car today (mind you I have multiple reservations and I'm aware for President's circle car choice that I need to select mid or full size cars). I tried to request old lady(and another guy) at the counter on Third floor to upgrade at my cost to mid or full size. I got the upgrade with fee but then I was told I cannot choose from the President's circle. It seems I need to cancel that reservation(which is non cancellable now) and rebook it(at higher cost). I don't get why though. Front desk was completely useless and unprofessional. I felt they tried to hide these details with me while upgrading with fee intentionally(I didn't need that upgrade if that was the case). Eventually I took the mid size upgraded car and we squeezed in to home. I only used this car for few hours and returned it (only drove few miles as it was only to transport luggage and returning home). To be honest I was worried this upgrade might not have reflected on their app(it was showing old reservation only until I returned) and I might be falsely reported to cops by Hertz (based on their past behavior, I only read recently about this). I returned the vehicle after few hours. To my shock they charged me for the fuel and fuel service although the tank shows full(screenshot from returning vehicle). My RR 373213341 for details. I know Hertz support is useless so not expecting them to respond. I sent them an email as well. I'm not going to prefer Hertz anymore and will avoid them from here. I have membership and status with other car rental companies and will go with them. I guess I should be glad they didn't falsely report me to cops. I'll be cancelling all of my future reservations/plans with Hertz from here on out and never returning to Hertz ever both for personal or business purposes. After flying into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, I navigated down to the shuttle area where I was transported to the SeaTac Rental Car Facility where all other car rental companies are located. There was a small line in the Hertz Rent A Car section in comparison to other companies like Budget, Alamo, AVIS, Enterprise, Thrifty, etc. It made me contemplate if I were dealing with the wrong car rental company, but that was out of my control because Hertz was part of my Expedia package. My experience with the clerk was informable yet brief because I already had a booking, so it was just a confirmation of my information. However since I did change my hotel it did have some slight alterations to my vehicle of choice which went from a sedan to a mini SUV. All I wanted was a vehicle to get me from the airport to my hotel located in downtown Seattle. Finally, the clerk informed me that my vehicle was downstairs in the garage and I went on my way with an information packet and a receipt with my vehicle number listed on it. It was a cool navigable experience going down into the garage to pick my vehicle up which awaited me in the stall. In the garage were a number of car rental companies on each level which was a new experience for me. I was flabbergasted to see a 2020 Buick Encore parked in the stall number given which was a huge upgrade from my personal vehicle, a 2004 Nissan Sentra. My main gripe was the check out to leave the parking garage which took very long because there was only one lane open. Not a great feeling when you are hungry too! Eventually another lane opened up and the check out process took no more than five minutes. The process of return was simple; there were a number of signs leading into the garage parking area. It tripped me out just driving in my vehicle and leaving the keys inside after parking it in the Hertz Rent A Car sector of the garage. The first time I've ever had to rent a car by myself. It's an interesting experience. Not necessarily one I would repeat any time soon. The rental car bus drops me off, and Hertz is one of a whole bunch of rental agencies in the airport. I looked at all the rental car agencies at the airport before I took this trip, and Hertz was the only one that seemed to allow for me to drop off my car way early in the morning without being penalized. Anyway, there were some apparent issues with my credit card upon checking in at the counter. All that kept running through my head was the goddamn scene from an episode of Seinfeld where Jerry is upset at the counter agent that they had no cars left when he reserved one. I was really thinking that would happen to me here. Honestly, I'd been having issues with my credit cards the entire trip. When I got to the car, I really was expecting an older, beat up compact like a Ford Fusion pictured on the website. Instead, the attendant shows me to space 321, which held a brand new Toyota Corolla. I could still smell the new car smell inside. The car had a little more than a thousand miles on it. It was a nice surprise. It took a little bit for me to get used to driving it, though. There was no internal Nav system so I had to use Google Maps on my phone the whole time. The Sirius XM radio in the car was cool though. The car was easy to drive and park. My car doesn't have backup cameras so it was interesting to use them for the first time ever. Of course, returning the car proved to be a bit of a problem. I missed the exit to the rental car facility the first time, and so I had to do another circle around to get into the garage. read more

I have to say I had a pleasant experience with Hertz. Yes, as always, they tried to push the extra insurance etc., but I am sure that is the company line. At any rate, to be able to rent a midsize car for a week with unlimited miles for well under $200 with a great deal, and to top it off, the vehicle was a 2019. The young mane at the counter was cordial and easy to work with. Choosing a car was easy. I just went to the underground parking, choose my care from the designated area, loaded my stuff, drove to the exit, and checked out! There were no issues with the car, the service, and the contract. I will use them again when I visit Seattle. read more

On Sunday, July 28th my partner and I shared a terrible experience with a Hertz representative at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. We patiently waited in line at the Car Rental Facility and prepared a handful of questions, only to be given short-tempered responses and a literal look of disgust. The representative did not care that we had simple questions that could be answered by any employee with a working knowledge of their company. Our questions inquired about price projections, renting on the spot, and using our rewards points. They refused to answer our questions or be helpful in any manner beyond telling us to "look it up in the app". I asked if they could elaborate, and they literally refused. Beyond their lack of willingness to be helpful, they made us feel judged and unwelcome by giving us a stereotypical look of disgust throughout the interaction. They made it obvious that they thought we were asking stupid questions, and that they wanted to get rid of us as quickly as possible. We were treated like an utter nuisance. As a President's Circle member, this horrible customer service experience was far below my lowest expectations. My partner and I had just spent 12 hours traveling across the country, and an error by our relocator locked us out of our Avis rental. We needed a car rental due to our extraordinary circumstances. I did not expect sympathy for our situation. I had rewards points with Hertz. I was already committed to booking with Hertz. But for some reason, this representative gave it their all to try to convince me to NOT rent with Hertz. Would you not also have questions if your car rental plans made a month ago were wrecked in an instant? Is it too much to ask (a question)? read more

Scammed us right off the bat by "upgrading" our vehicle to a larger size without informing us that such was being done. Added a fee of over $800 for this so called upgrade. The car came with low air in the tires and inconvenienced us to fill them ourselves. Stay away from this horrible company. read more

When I arrived on a Thursday evening at 9pm, there was one person in front of me ... that's not bad! Clerk got my info and all whatever is needed. Because I ordered a small car, she keep on insisting that I upgrade and get a better faster car. I told her I didn't need that. Anyways, she then told me well there's none of the small car available and they will upgrade me for free a standard car. I mean I guess. So I got a Charger which is a fast car... didn't expect that LOL! So I paid $55 for pass to drive on the carpool lane etc... The whole process was simple. Walked to pick up my car and boy! At check in they lied to us saying they would charge a temporary deposit but in fact they modified our contract under our nose and it ended up being $600 of non refundable extra fees that I did not agree or even know about!!!!! Looking at the reviews this is VERY common and should be considered fraud. THEY WON'T REFUND WHAT I DIDNT APPROVE OF. Hertz is disgusting, don't rent from them people! it's INSANE the amount of angry customers leaving complaints on their social media because their customer service is basically nonexistent, all they care about is making money and they do it by screwing over customers read more
