I just rented a car with this company for the last few days. I booked on Expedia and added the rental car insurance when I booked. Fast forward to the day of pick up - I get to the counter and the girl is going through the regular rundown and then asks if I want basic or premium coverage. I instinctively said basic, but then decided to ask if it's mandatory. She says "no, but I highly recommend you get it because if you get into an accident we will sue you." This really caught me off guard and I persisted to say no. She told me that my personal insurance doesn't cover rental damages (without knowing anything about my policy) and proceeds to use these weird scare tactics into making me spend $120 on insurance I didn't need. Luckily I stood my ground and said no because I had forgotten about the extra insurance at the time of booking. It's really frustrating that there's either nothing on their end saying that I did pre-pay for this already or they don't care and are trying to swindle you. Another thing is that the deposit (mine was $500 for whatever reason) is fully charged to your account and then refunded later. It's not "pending." So if you're needing that money anytime soon, I wouldn't book here. The car was fine and the staff were fine. My advice is don't get bullied into paying for more insurance if you don't have to. read more

HORRIBLE experience. You can't actually read what you're signing. The screens are blank, and your agent will *helpfully* tell you what each screen says. You can verbally decline roadside assistance and additional roadside coverage, but guess what? You signed for it! We were told we should prepay for fuel. We opted to take our chances and refill ourselves. We paid $1.50/gallon less than the prepaid cost. I spoke with the manager when I discovered these things. He said I shouldn't sign for anything I can't see, but he's well aware of how the place operates. SCAM. Knowingly pay a little more at literally any other rental company, or you'll pay a LOT more for this crap. read more

I booked through Priceline and then looked at the reviews and got anxiety .. I was like what did I get myself into.. because all the reviews are bad..but we were on a budget and were really hoping it turns out okay. Check in was great, super easy and straight forward .. You will have to put down a deposit (100-200$?) but if you take care of the car it's refunded to you. I got the car in very clean condition, no issues. Car was fantastic, checked out two days later.. Just pulled up and they made sure we didn't damage the car, handed in the keys .. that's it. Got our refund for the deposit later, process was a piece of cake, car was great. I felt moved to leave a good review because all I see is bad reviews, but we had a great experience! Would definitely come back. read more

Told the agent I didn't want their insurance, got charged anyways. Tried to get it corrected with the manager when I returned the vehicle and still got charged for the insurance despite not putting initials next to the insurance. The garage where you pick up the car is so poorly lit that it is difficult to spot prexisting damage when picking it up. No one walks around the car with you. Drop off personnel are short and rude when you ask questions. When I booked the rental it was quoted at $644 for 10 days and they charged me $1072. I will never recommend this company, and will discourage all my friends and family from ever using them as well. I will stick with Enterprise, Avis, or Hertz from here on out. read more

Awful gLines were a mile long... be prepared to wait. Once i got thru long line they tried to put me into a compact suv... I paid for a mid size. It took numerous attempts going back and forth with sales agent and the garage agent to get this fixed. I can't believe they try to slip one past me like that. Once I raised a stink they got me into the right vehicle... which had a massive gash on the bumper! Don't trust these guys. read more

Renting a car for Seattle, Washington... Using a tip from Dan O., I used the Autoslash website to find the least expensive compact car. From all of the choices that they sent to me via email, I selected Fox Rent A Car. After landing at SeaTac Airport, I caught the free shuttle to the Rental Car Facility and found Fox Rent A Car easily. The guy at the counter was efficient and friendly! I received a Hyundai Venue which is a subcompact SUV. It was perfect for hauling around assemble-yourself-furniture from IKEA and an area rug from Ross. Drop-off was simple. I just followed signs at the Rental Car Center. They emailed the bill to me. No hidden fees nor charges! Thank you! read more

Like many of the other reviews, the salesperson was pushy about the extras and even lied to us. Are these people working on commission? Also, there's no sign for Fox on the escalator. I complained about this before and they've never fixed it. This was my first time renting a car thru Fox Rent A Car and I had a great experience with check in and check out. The person assisting me was very kind and patiently answered all my questions. She even gave me some great tips for my visit to Seattle. The pricing was very good and even the pricing for car insurance was great (which I usually never take, but the deal was too good)! Do not book within 24-48 hours in advance. Their website will say they have many vehicles available when they do not. My family and I were moving to the Seattle area so we had lots of baggage. We were looking to upgrade to a minivan once we realized the amount of luggage we were going to have - I had previously booked a midsized suv through enterprise that wasn't going to be big enough. Fox car rental surprisingly had several vehicles available including a minivan despite almost every other rental car company at the airport being sold out, so I went ahead and booked online over 24 hours in advance only to find out when I went to pick up that they did not have any vehicles available despite what their website said. This means they either double book rentals in case someone doesn't show or they have false advertising of their availability. Renter beware! read more

Very pushy salesman at the desk. Tried to trick me into purchasing extra insurance, toll road passes, etc. He speaks very fast and tries to add things to your bill without you knowing they are OPTIONAL. He did successfully trick me into prepaying for fuel. They charged me $100 to fill the tank and he said I would get refunded for whatever fuel I didn't use. This is a lie. I only used a quarter of the tank, about $25-$30 worth, but they still charged me $70. If you rent from here deny all the additonal stuff they try to add and DON'T prepay for fuel. read more

Terrible! My flight was delayed, so I called Fox to ask them to leave the keys somewhere, so I could pick up my car. Nope, they refused. I asked to speak to his manager. Nope, same garbage. Then he hung up on me. I called back and was hung up on again. I arrived at the rental car office - closed! I came back the next day and they gave my car away ... BUT they would do me this terrific favor and keep the rate the same, but I'd have to upgrade, because they didn't have any cars in my class. Of course it was only $300+ extra. And I better grab it, because NOBODY has cars. So I left, got on the internet and grabbed a car for $300 less at their competitor. Bottom line, these guys stink. I'm in sales and I know when they're trying to put me together and Fox definitely does this. They must pay a pretty good commission, because there has to be a lot of very upset customers. I suggest not to rent with Fox Rent A Car. My Engine light came on on the 2nd day on my rental. Rented at Seattle Airport, my trip was to Victoria and Vancouver. My anxiety was so high, I was scared of driving the car. This is by far the worse rental expiense I ever had. I called Fox road side assistant, waited for at least an hour, no answer. I called customer service, wasited another hour for someone to pickup and said need to transer to roadside assistance, and I waited for more than an hour, no one answer. I went online chat from Fox website, the rep sent a request to the roadside assist dept to contact me. I specifically asked for a call to see what happen and how I can safely drive the car. All we got was a text message hours later and said I can either bring it back in to exchange it or take it to a shop to get it fix or just drive it. I was in Canada, there are no Fox rental in Canada, otherwise I would have taking it in, By the time they messaged me, it was already almost 6, shops are closed. I text them back and asked them to give me a call, things works a lot faster talking to someone, but guess what? no one call. Service is expremely poor. Fox Rent a Car do not want to be responsible for what they give you and do not want to be liable for their issues. I have been trying to reach their management team to file a complaint, no one call back. Take notes: 206-858-9671, the phone number to their management office is a dummy number. it's never alive. can never call in. Useless. I will never rent again with Fox Rent a Car. their cars are junk, old and have issues. their services is next to None. read more

USE OTHER RENTAL FACILITIES. We landed at 5:30 8/11 in Seattle and made our way to the rental car facility. Upon arrival there was a lineup, which to be expected that airport is fairly busy. However, the counter had 3 agents for about 5 minutes. Once one of the agents finished up. He got up saying bye to the others that the day was done... Wouldn't you want to help get through a few customers? That was minimal compared to the rest, however. 1) Finally get our rental. Head downstairs, DAMAGE GALORE!!! That little sheet they give you to fill out? Yeah, I had to fill out the back page with notes. --- large ding on the passenger mirror, scrapes all along the back quarter panel and trunk was COMPLETELY scratched. Thankfully I documented it because I don't even want to know the $ I would've been charged. 2) We get situated in the car; I have two kids with me and my wife. So, after the car seats are installed and luggage loaded, we start driving. I look down and drivers side tire is at 25 PSI. Shouldn't tire pressures be checked and verified upon rental return and parking by their agents? Driving on a tire that low is subject to it popping or damaging the rim. 3) About 3/4 of the way through our reservation I notice that the check oil light has now come on in the vehicle. I never took it in for an oil change as it's not my vehicle, nor was I all that surprised by the fact that something else went wrong at this point. But the damage that can occur to vehicles with low or NO oil is astronomical. I speak with customer service once all this is complete... All they can offer is $15 off a next service with FOX Rental cars... Why in the hell with this situation would I want to come back to FOX? And $15?! That doesn't even cover the tax on a rental car. read more

Beware of their upselling tactics. Rented a compact car in April for 6 days. They asked what the purpose of my trip was, where I was going, etc. all to "upgrade" my vehicle to a hybrid vehicle to help me "save" gas. They did not inform me that I would be getting charged an extra $230 for the upgrade and did not give me a receipt until after the trip. It seemed liked a nice gesture, but now I know it was a dirty tactic. Tried to fix the problem by explaining that I was not informed and didn't receive an extra charge notice until after the trip but was unsuccessful. I hope this does not happen to anyone else. Highly don't recommend. read more

Fox Rent A Car - This was the SUV the item was left behind. - Car Rental Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I want to share my experience so other renters can make informed decisions. When I arrived at the Fox Rent A Car counter at Seattle Airport, the first employee who assisted me was Zino. During the paperwork, he asked about my travel plans. I mentioned that I would be driving in both Washington State and Vancouver, Canada. He immediately told me that unless I purchased Fox's Gold coverage package, my rental vehicle would not be insured while driving in Canada. This didn't sound right because I have full coverage auto insurance. Before my trip, I had already confirmed with my insurance company that my policy extends to qualifying rental vehicles in Canada. I even offered to show him my insurance documents. Instead of checking the information, he repeatedly insisted I was wrong and told me, "Sir, I do this every day." Rather than making a rushed decision, I stepped away and called my insurance agent again, as well as a friend who works in the rental car business. Both confirmed that my insurance already covered my rental vehicle, so there was no need to purchase additional protection from Fox. I went back to the counter and was helped by a different representative. I specifically told her that I did not want any optional insurance or protection products. To my surprise, after reviewing my contract, I found that a Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) had still been added at roughly $34.99 per day. It was never pointed out or explained during the transaction. Thankfully, before leaving the rental lot, I carefully reviewed the agreement and asked to speak with the manager. The female manager immediately understood my concern and removed the charge without any argument. She was professional, respectful, and honest, and she completely changed what could have been an even worse experience. My disappointment is not that optional insurance was offered--that is normal in the rental industry. My concern is the inconsistent information provided by different employees and the fact that optional coverage was added even after I clearly declined it. If you're renting from this location, I strongly recommend: * Know exactly what your own auto insurance and credit card already cover. * Don't feel pressured into making a quick decision. * Review every charge on your rental agreement before signing or leaving the counter. Taking a few extra minutes could save you a significant amount of money. read more

Declined all the extras the agent was pushing (loss damage waiver, prepaid fuel, tolls). Told her I'm good with just using my own insurance. She asked me to initial several times to acknowledge that I declined these things on a tablet. All you see is a black screen. "Initial here to decline xxx..." and you do it. After returning the car, I was emailed the total, which was $200 over what it should have been. I called their billing department and was told it was from the loss-damage waiver. They refused to remove it because it's on the rental agreement. I request the rental agreement, and sure enough, there are initials for "chose to purchase" the LDW. Having rented cars all my life, I have never opted for this insurance. So the agent either 1) modifies my initials to place them at the "chose to purchase" or 2) asks me to initial to decline the service on the chose to purchase line. The tablet you sign on is black and blank; you assume you're signing for what they say you are. Either way, without my consent. 0% transparency, 100% deceptive, deceitful, and fraudulent. Make sure you demand the rental agreement up front to avoid being over-billed by these scums. read more

This place is really horrible. Do NOT use them. They are NOT cheaper than everyone else, because they find sneaky ways to charge you more. I will never use them again. A woman named Kani just plain out lied to me about what I was getting and the forms I was signing, so I ended up with charges I never agreed to. I called customer service multiple times and talked to a manager when I returned to drop off the car, and EVERY person I talked to was evasive and made promises they never planned on keeping. Please put in the confirmation emails for car rental up charges with upgrades provided without customer consent. Fox rental makes it impossible for you to cancel and to have a choice. Being a woman traveling at late night not being accommodated by the car rental company preying upon a customer. The airport car rental saying the type of car reserved is no longer available but available car is with upgrades with added cost. A delayed flight customer has no choice but to get it for safety reasons at a cost. I have rented cars in the past and they have always accommodated at no additional cost. This is nickle and dime at best to the customer at a position where they have no choice. Business being done at unethical ways. Expedia should be able to negotiate with car rental companies to protect their customers against companies like this. If customers are locked into a non refundable reservations- car rentals should be holding the car we booked or if not upgrade at no charge since they gave the car away or oversold on their end. I am pretty sure I am not the first or last Fox car rental will nickle and dime. This is really not a customer friendly nor hospitality experience. Car I had a very disappointing experience renting from Fox Rent-A-Car at the Seattle SeaTac location. At pickup, I was told I would be charged $4.74 per gallon for fuel. However, after returning the car, I was actually charged $9.49 per gallon, which is a huge and unacceptable difference. To make matters worse, I returned the car with about a quarter tank of gas still in it, yet I was still charged at this inflated rate. This feels misleading and unfair. There was no clear or transparent explanation for the price change, and I feel like I was overcharged for something that should have been straightforward. I strongly recommend that anyone renting here: * Double-check all fuel policies in writing * Take photos of fuel levels before and after * Ask for exact pricing confirmation Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not rent from this location again. read more

Frankly, Fox Rent a Car's policy for adjusting existing reservations is misleading and unethical. Due to unforeseen arrival and departure flight delays, I requested to amend the pick up and drop off time of the rental vehicle. My requested amendment was still within the total rental duration of my existing reservation. Fox Rent a Car was uncooperative with this simple change request and, instead of trying to accommodate my schedule change, imposed exorbitant fees of extending my rental by 3 hours which nearly doubled the original cost of renting a vehicle. I will not do business with Fox Rent a Car again. read more

When I showed up for my rental, they rented out my reservation that I made 3 weeks earlier to someone else (literally used my reservation number). The front desk issued me a new reservation. I noticed the rental agreement was different/incorrect. I asked for a fix and the front desk agent said all he could do was sign the appropriate rental agreement amount that was handwritten on the rental agreement. Fast forward, and I turned in the rental one day early (instead of two days). When I did get a rental receipt emailed, it reflected an incorrect amount. Nearly double what my reservation should have been. I contacted customer service, and she argued with me that it was a walk up rental until I literally had to send in the signed receipt and my original reservation number. She then didn't have the authority to resolve, so she elevated. She never did recognize that I was overcharged by one full day. I never heard any follow up from Fox. During this time I received two survey requests from "operation managers". I responded outlining the above situation. One responded saying they were looking into and the other did not respond. After two days, I checked my credit card, and it reflected the original reservation amount. Since this was reimbursed by my employer, I didn't call to argue that I was overcharged for a second day. I lead a 55 person team, and I am now advising everyone to avoid Fox Rental. It was several extra hours to resolve, no final response, and ultimately I was still overcharged. read more

However, when I finally reached the desk (3 hours from original pick up time) at the airport; the agent said they did not see such note and my reservation was cancelled due to delay and I had to pay a penalty since I was delayed pick up. PlatePass didn't work, and resolving it was far harder than it should have been I rented from Fox Car Rental at O'Hare (ORD) and paid extra for their PlatePass/toll package. When I went through a toll gate, the pass did not work, and I had to pay the toll with my own credit card. I contacted Fox afterward expecting a simple resolution since the service I paid for wasn't usable. Instead, I experienced weeks of back-and-forth and unclear responses. Key issues: 1.The toll pass failed at the gate, defeating the purpose of paying for it in advance 2. A refund was refused 3. I was offered vague future compensation (upgrade, then a free rental day) but not allowed to apply it to my next confirmed trip 4. When I asked for clarity--how the credit is documented, how to redeem it, or whether there's a reference number--I didn't receive clear answers 5. After a phone call, the responsibility was effectively shifted onto me, rather than Fox owning the failure of a paid add-on If you're considering Fox at ORD, especially their toll package, know that if something goes wrong, getting made whole may be far more difficult than it should be. Took the shuttle from the airport to the rental counter. And of course, there was a long wait to be helped (service was friendly however). Traveling in from Chicago to Seattle my flight was delayed, gate changed, and held repeatedly for 9 hours changing my arrival time from around 2 pm to 10:55 pm on Sunday. My VW car reservation was already fully paid through Travelocity so there were no concerns. The car pickup and drop-off were arrange by Travelocity in accordance with my flights. However, when I arrived I was told my car rental request EXPIRED because I was over 2 hours late for the pickup (DESPITE BEING PRE-PAID). At first it was hinted there may be no cars, then I was advised that if I still wanted the VW car reserved there would be a $30 PENALTY (LATE ARRIVAL FEE). Angrily I just wanted the damn car to get to my final destination ASAP. I bought the fuel package that allows them to pre-charge a full tank and refund what is not needed. I called on Tuesday morning to challenge the PENALTY after PRE-PAYMENT and met a TOTALLY IGNORANT, ARROGANT, and UNYIELDING customer service rep AND her Manager. I was further advised that Fox was calling the PENALTY FEE an "UPGRADE FEE" even though I kept the same car. The manager stated my only recourse was to arrive at the rental facility later in the day..... STAND IN LINE.... HAVE A PERSON OF AUTHORITY FOUND.... and NEGOTIATE a resolution. I told them my flight time was close to my arrival and that was UNREALSTIC. The alternative was to wait until post-rental and call to debate it some more. At that point I reminded them that since my rental start time was later, my maximum time with the vehicle was 2 days, not 3 days as initially requested. I was also told that WAS NOT POSSIBLE BASED UPON MY TICKET TIMES (which changed). The car was picked up Sunday at 11:00 pm and returned on Tuesday at 4:00 pm... not even two days. I requested help from Travelocity which only led to promises.... I asked the Fox Agent receiving the PRISTINE car on Tuesday if I would be getting a fuel credit and only billed for 2 days and was told YES!
