horrible horrible horrible service. they were suppose to pick me up at the auto shop and drive me to the location for a car. they never showed up. i had a reservation in the system for almost a week, i called to confirm twice, last time being the DAY BEFORE. they told me the day before that didn't have a car for me--but should by the next morning. well, they didn't have a car---and i guess they they didn't bother to call the auto shop, call me, or even show up there pick me up. we called them, they honestly were not sure when a car would come in...told me 30 mins. i didn't want to wait so i walked home (20 min walk). i called them in the 30 mins...and still no car. i asked to speak to a manager and they told me to call AJ at the Cragin/Chicago location. i did and he didn't care that I was without a car. i called corporate to complain, and while she did a decent job to escalate the situation and put a complaint in for these two locations, they didn't offer anything, no upgrade--just--sorry. when they got a vehicle in---about an hour total later, i got my own ride there to pick it up. folks, this place isn't a real hertz location. there are no sigs that tell you where they are. in the 3X i called, no one told me where they were located inside a dealership. there's no lot filled with rental cars....i was in a garage with a bunch of nissans being worked on. no wonder they had no vehicle for me. in fact, they had one car--the one for me. it is two guys in street clothes. if they would have come to pick me up dressed like that--i would have been scared for my life. they were also sitting in a 6X10 feet room with a microwave and fridge. while the shorter guy was apologetic, the other guy was laughing, couldn't even look at me---was and playing on his phone. they were so lax on everything. i will say, dropping the car off was a different experience. this guy was nice, knowledgeable, courteous and dressed more appropriately. i'd give him 5 stars. so perhaps hertz should pay attention to the caliber of people they hire. btw, i had to use hertz because my van was being worked on. it was hit while parked by a person using First Acceptance Insurance. since they were taking care of this claim, i processes everything thru them. i left them messages about rental, i actually wanted a van to replace my van, since i have children and car pools, but they would not do it, they wouldn't even call me back. i had to use hertz because they were paying for it. but for anyone reading this---do not use substandard insurance either--you get what you pay for. read more
