All of the reps at this location are amazing! They truly go above and beyond dor their customers. I've rented from a location in Raleigh and the customer service was sub par at best. I used them traveling ​back and froth from MI to NC to determine the city I would move to. After I moved I had issues with my vehicle in which I was renting every weekend. I rented a car from Hertz while my car was being repaired. I explained that I am allergic to cigarette smoke and asked if the agency would make sure that I got a clean car. I was so assured. Because the person who dropped me off to rent the car had to get to work, we left quickly after all the paperwork was done for the rental. Immediately on driving the car, we realized that, though we were assured that we would get a smoke-free car, (in fact the agent said that anyone who brought back a car with smoke in it would be fined $400!) we were enveloped in a smoky car. Because we had a demanding schedule and the paperwork had taken longer than we had, I did not return the car but drove it, with a pounding headache and burning eyes. We have used this location a number of times now. At first we had a few issues with credits and charges that did not apply to our program. We finally got it straightened out and smooth sailing from then on. We always get a few perks when they can because we are return customers. Friendly service. This Hertz location should only be used in an emergency. For years I have tried to communicate to corporate how badly the staff (which turns over often) is but it falls on indifferent corporate ears. I sit here in their office now as they tried to rent me a filthy car as an "upgrade", completely ignore my status as a VERY VERY frequent renter. They don't care. Terrible customer service, asked before I dropped the vehicle off if I should clean it before, they told me no I did not need to clean it. I arrived 15 minutes before close at 5:45 pm and was told that I would need to have the car detailed to which I asked why and they said there was an extreme amount of pet hair and that if I did not leave to vacuum it out I would be charged a $200 cleaning fee. I left the place to vacuum it out and got back at 6:15 and they had closed and all left for the day. It took me aprox 6 mins to vacuum the car. I have a flight that leaves at 10:50 tommorow morning and now will have to return the vehicle tommorow at 9am and possibly miss my flight. I had a situation. I rented a car today at the airport, and when I Got home I found a bubble on the rear driver side tire. Since I am in Apex, I called the local addition Hertz off of Laura Duncan Road. I inquired about switching my vehicles. They proceeded to put me on hold while they checked. I was on hold for 12 minutes and the automated system hung up on me. At this point, I was a little upset, so I started calling them again. I call once 15 rings, and no answer...... I did this another five times, with no answer each time. On the sixth time I called, the person who answered the phone hung up on me. The last time I called, I got somebody to answer the phone, and they told me they were going to place me on hold again. At this point, I am very upset again, and I said something I shouldn't have and hung up. I am a very loyal customer to hurts. I received no customer service in this encounter. I will not visit this location again. It is a shame because it is the closest location to my house. I will take my business to the airport from now on. read more

Terrible experience. We had to wait 20 minutes while they gassed up a van which we had reserved for over a month. Then we immediately started having issues with the van, to later have the tire blow out on 95. They gave us a car which had tire threads showing and was super unsafe. This is alarming that they don't check their vehicles out before allowing customers inside. Called to explain what a terrible experience it was (had to talk to 3 separate employees before getting to the manager). Then the manager told me he would have it fixed the next day (Tuesdsy). I called Wednesday and he said he forgot to call in the issue and would get back to me by the end of the day. It's now the following Sunday and NOTHING. If I could give -1 star for this company I would. Filthy car in an out, not sanitized inside, tire pressure light on, looked low in oil. The corporate side isn't any better, even worse. Called them to let them know the issue, on hold for an hour for an agent to get another car reserved, then then say it's another dept, xfer me, on hold for an hr and 10 mins, then get dropped. Call back and after 45 mins in queue speak to someone says she will xfer me to an number where I can select to get a text back from an agent. Of the 5 phone options on the number she xfers me to, none state 'to receive a text back...'. So, I select a random option and the last message states press 1 to receive a text back. Yippee...I found it. Who knows when I will get a call back as it's now 2.5 hrs later (9:50pm). Horrible service ALL AROUND! read more

The employees at this location are the reason I now go to enterprise for my vehicle rentals. Don't bother calling. They rarely answer the phone. If they do answer - and its Tim; he tries but falls short. If you have the misfortune of Elizabeth on the other end be prepared for rudeness, outright lies and fabrications - other times you are immediately put on hold (after 10 minutes you are automatically disconnected) When picking up or dropping off, plan on 35 minutes if no one else is ahead of you. take my advice. save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else. read more

Merely thinking about this place makes me shake with anger. But, it is my duty as a Yelper to praise the greatest businesses. Also, to warn the public to stay away from disgusting cesspools ran by the most incompetent morons around. I needed a car rental while mine was in the shop cause being t-boned is just a hazard of living I suppose. State Farm told me they'll pay for Hertz, and they arranged that for me. Shortly before the day that I dropped my car off at the shop, I received a garbled, incoherent voicemail about my reservation, and that I should call the Apex office if I needed a ride cause they're the primary handlers of the case or something. So I did, and everything should be peachy. For a brief while, yes. Game day came, and I was picked up from the repair shop at the scheduled time. The Hertz employee (let's call him Moron A) then took me to the Apex office. In the middle of helping me, he inexplicably excused himself to go do something else. But not to worry, he assured me the other guy in the office (Moron B) would finish me up. Moron B made me wait until he helped two customers that walked in after me before he got to me. At this point, I'm already more than a little miffed, but the finish line is in sight. Or so I thought. Apparently, my reservation got screwed up. Moron B told me that Hertz garbled it so terribly that I would have to contact State Farm and get them to send another reservation. He then refused to tell me what number to call, and proceeded to move onto the next client, leaving me potentially helpless. Seriously though, what if I didn't have a smartphone? What if I was close to being out of data? What kind of abjectly poor customer service is this? I called a few numbers, and finally got State Farm to acknowledge they were handling my claim. But, Moron B kept ignoring me. Meanwhile, I saw Moron A walk back into the office, notice me, then walk back into the break room. I only wish I were joking. Finally, a half decent human being walked into the room and decided to actually help me. So, State Farm and Hertz proceeded to play their game of who is dumber than whom for a while. But then, things were finally resolved and I got my rental. What should take under 15 minutes surpassed the 2 hour mark. I got stranded in Apex for 2 hours because of these pathetic morons. This experience was awful from start to finish. While State Farm probably is at fault for some of this, most things were unequivocally screwed up by the collective incompetence of all the Triangle area Hertz employees. Save yourself the aneurysm and find a different place to rent a car. read more

I had used this location several times for rentals when getting my car repaired. The staff is professional, friendly and helpful.

I called this location to reserve a 4WD SUV a week in advance. I was assured they would have it for pickup by 8am-10am. On day of reservation pickup I call at 8am to make sure it's available and it isn't available. I was told I would get a call back in 30 minutes and never received a call. I called back about 930am to check the status and it's still not available and was told they would call me back at 1030am to let me know either way and it is 11am at the time of this review and I still have not received a call back. They did try to offer me a minivan at no extra charge but I needed a 4WD vehicle. They also said I could drive minivan and exchange it when the 4WD SUV became available but I needed to leave and had already had to postpone my trip for 3 hours due to unkept promises. I had to call someone else last minute and luckily someone had an SUV available. I will never call this place again nor will I deal with Hertz ever again. I really should have read some of these reviews before choosing to get a rental through this location. I made a reservation Saturday for a car to be picked up the following Tuesday morning. When I arrived there was only one person assisting customers. Every few minutes the phone would ring and she would have to interrupt her time with who she was helping in order to help who ever was calling. I understand if they are understaffed or what have you, but I think it's very rude and unfair to the person who is being helped if they have to keep being interrupted by the phone. Have someone else designated to answer incoming calls. It's not hard. Anyway, after waiting about 8-10 mins, another gentleman came out of the back area to assist. Once he started helping me I had the same issue of him needing to answer the phone. Several times they were lengthy conversations. I had to get to work, I did not have time to sit and wait after I had arrive with an hour of spare time. After sitting through his putting my information into the computer and having to answer phone calls, he then informed me that they did not have an economy car, which I had reserved. However, they did have a mid-sized car that they could give me for an extra $6-7 a day. Um, no thank you. I reserved an economy car for a reason. Needless to say I will not be back here. read more

She hung up and called back, it took the person on the other line took TOO long to answer. Once he did she said "bc is traffic I am going be a few minutes late. Find somewhere else to rent a vehicle. They can't provide rentals as scheduled and their customer service is awful. I had to take my car into they body shop so I reserved a car two weeks in advance from Hertz Rent A Car in Apex. When I called to confirm on the morning I was scheduled to pick up my vehicle, I was informed that Hertz did not have any cars available but they said they would call me they had one ready. I did not hear anything for several hours so I called to check and they promised me they would call me back in twenty minutes with an estimate on when I could come by. After an hour of waiting for them to call back, I still had not heard anything. Apparently Hertz of Apex doesn't understand that people can't just wait around all day because they can't figure out how to better schedule rental cars for their customers. It's been over 2 years that I'm using this location and in the past 5 months the quality of the service has declined. Each two months I have to drop of my rental car and pickup a new one according to my company's agreement. The problem is that it seems to be a common practice not having a car available to the client and either ask the client to keep the current car or come back later to get a new one. Whenever I can, I keep the current car just because I have better things to do instead of doing 2 trips a day to hertz, but sometimes it is not possible (license plate needs to be renewed, maintenance light is on, etc) and it is when the hassle starts. It is maybe the 3rd or 4th time that they ask me to come back later to get a new car and when I'm back they say "I'm sorry but we still don't have a car for you". And now it becomes my problem since I have to keep coming back and back until the finally have a car for me. Not to mention that sometimes their new car is dirty (I've found myself all kind of crap inside the car, from dirty napkins to coffee cups). So if you need to rent a car in the Cary/Apex area, consider driving a little more and do that at the Hertz at the RDU airport. The line might be longer but they will probably have a new and clean car for you. read more

I have been a Loyal Hertz Customer for many years. The staff intearaction was friendly, but, nonchalant when issues were brought to there attention. I picked a 2 week vacation rental to be driven over the mountains to Tn. I pointedly asked if vehicle cleaned, all fluids were topped off & all mechanical checks were done. Michael assured me the veh. was completely ready. A warning light came on before I left the parking lot. I went back in and was assured the key fob must have been too far from the ignition "just swipe the key by the ignition switch you will be fine", again this young lady was courteous, but, wrong. When I got to my 1st destination 30 mins away. I sat and read the veh. manul to find several possible problems related to the warning light. I called and was told to go to the nearest Firestone and have any work done & it would be billded to Hertz, Servicing a rental car was not part of my vacation plans. When I called Firestone they wanted to book me an appoint 4-5 days later. I bought and installed windshield washer fluid, system was dry when I went to use it. That cleared the warning light for one day then tire pressure warning light came on. The first time I drove into the sun I could not see a thing because the inside of the windshield was filthy. My wife was nervous the entire trip due to dash warnings. Good manners bad maintenance! Cheaper than renting from the Airport! read more

Well this is coming from a different angle. A driver that rented a vehicle from Hertz rear ended my father. This was on the 22nd, it is the 31st and we have not been contacted. On the 23rd I called the Apex office and told them the situation and the Hertz employee told me the lady that hit my father was there filling out paperwork regarding the accident and they would call me back. No call back. It is now the 31st and they have still not called us. Luckily we went through my father's insurance and they have totaled the vehicle. He was injured and he only had $1000 med pay on his policy. A broken tooth, root canal and crown are a little more than a $1000 to say the least, not to mention the rental car since they do not have another vehicle. I called on the 31st, was put on hold for 15 mins, then a voice mail box came on asking me to enter the extension of the party I wanted to talk to! Anyone would be great. I have just called a second time and was told to hold before I could even speak. I work in insurance so I am trying to keep my father calm and this situation manageable but I am very upset and frustrated. This is a lack of concern for a person that was injured. Have they not heard that this type of service is what makes a person get a lawyer! Perhaps I will rent a car from them one day---not on your life. read more

Rented cars from this site a few times and results have always been positive: appropriate car was provided; cars were reasonably clean with low-miles and mechanically sound (no square tires); staff was friendly and efficient; prices are variable - sometimes really good, sometimes high. Switched to Hertz from Enterprise and have never regretted decision as Enterprise tended to be a crapshoot, while Hertz is a professional operation. read more

Reserved rental online but car wasn't ready. They had only 1 car left and it was double booked. Office staff was unorganized and not willing to help. Pick up was at 6pm but office also closed at 6. I've been using this location for 3 years and always had a fabulous experience. The guys all knew me by name and tried to find me a car that best fit my needs - for example If I was traveling to the mountains where radio reception is poor, they would upfit my needs with satellite radio if they had one on site. Then one day in February of this year, I went in to get my car and found out the whole staff had been let go. They had one inexperienced sales person behind the desk trying to help customers AND answer the phone. It took 40 minutes before I had my car. The next week, same thing except now they had 2 inexperienced employees with cars that hadn't been cleaned, etc. Phones ringing off the hook and incapable employees. I now drive to the airport to get my car rentals. Such a shame. This used to be nice and convenient. HERTZ shame on you!!!!! read more

I travel almost every week and rent a car, so I know rental companies aren't this bad. I was recently in a car wreck (not my fault). The insurance company sent me here. The insurance company reserve a truck for me, Hertz call me to confirm it. On the day of the agreed reservation, no trucks available....what good is the reservation? They put me in something not good and as I need transportation, I drove off, Only to find 3/4 of a tank and not the full tank I just signed for...I know, I fault, but really? I returned the car full a few days later and they sent the bill to the insurance company. I rented a truck from a place that said they had a truck (what do you know, they had a truck waiting for my reservation) and at exactly 50% less. Go somewhere else. read more
