I went to the Hermès flagship during a two-day stay in Paris last month. The brand is a bit statusy (and expensive) for my taste, but they have a tableware line I've admired for years, and I figured it'd be meaningfully cheaper in France. I wasn't going to go out of my way during such a short visit with my two small children, but when we found ourselves walking past the place on our way to the Christmas markets, I decided to go in for a quick browse. It turned out to be a wonderful stop on our chaotic Christmas-themed mini-tour of France. The store had been transformed into a fancy Christmas destination, with a scavenger hunt that took guests, both children and adults, through several stops within the store, where they played adorable immersive carnival-style games and received stamps in a little book. Once the stamps were all collected, they could be redeemed for a special gift. At first, I was just grateful that my kids had something to do while my friend and I looked at a change tray I'd had my eye on for a few Christmases but had never seen in person. The woman helping me (I think her name was Claude) was gracious and professional. She had me sit, showed me catalogues, and went into the depths of inventory to retrieve the tray I wanted. I ran the numbers and figured I was looking at about a 30% discount with the French price and the tax refund. I bought the change tray and took it home in that distinctive orange box, which I put under the tree as a gift to myself. When I found my children again, they were with my mom in the climactic final stage of the scavenger hunt, a lushly decorated Christmas room with a couple of final games and the prize station: a table where all customers were invited to make their own Christmas ornaments with Hermès store quality ribbons and leather and little bits of hardware. There were sweet attendants who helped my boys, but most of the people claiming these prizes were adults. My kids had an absolute blast, and I got some great photos of them throwing fluffy snowballs at felt Christmas trees and posing in a fake gondola in the shape of an Hermès luggage tag. My five-year-old declared that this was his favorite store, and I tried to get him to memorize "Hermès Saint-Honoré" so we could troll his dad on FaceTime. I was pleased with my purchase, and all of us, children and adults, were impressed and thrilled with this surprise holiday experience. I'll bet we could sell those ornaments for a couple hundred bucks, too, but I'm happier having them on our tree. read more

This Hermès flagship has been around since 1880, back when they made harnesses instead of handbags -- but it's still got serious style. Unlike other Hermès stores where you wait outside like you're trying to get into a nightclub, they actually let us right in. Big, gorgeous two-story space with a café and restrooms tucked in the back. Although a wine bar would've definitely helped to loosened my wallet even more ;) We checked in downstairs (just to the right of the stairs) and waited about 15 minutes before a friendly salesperson helped us. Best part? They actually had the bag my girlfriend wanted -- unlike the wild goose chases in Barcelona and Prague. She was ecstatic, which meant I got a free pass to spontaneously duck into wine bars as we wandered Paris while she sat there drinking coffee and floating on a cloud of Hermès happiness. Win-win. For a luxury brand, Hermes does not have class when treating their clients. Sales associates (SAs) are smug because they think everyone wants their bag. Popped into the flagship store to look for another scarf for my second trip to Paris this year. Got a new SA (Chinese, I think her name is Yuhan) who was very nice and respectful but did not know too much about the brand. Asked her to show us several techniques to tie the scarf in which she was unfamiliar with. But she was very nice and I have no complaints about her. What FSH Hermes store did fail during this visit was in the shoe department. My elderly mom felt that the lead SA here was discriminatory and racist against us bc our original SA brought out the Chypre sandals for me to try when it's only reserved for "ViP clients" or not ready for sale to the public. They spoke in French to each other and did not bother to explain or translate to me their conversation. My mom was very upset at her treatment with us that I had to speak to the manager Katie to let her know of the vile service we received. Where do I start. I went in and ask for a specialist, I got Cecile, she represent the brand well, elegant, patient, customer service oriented. Cecile helps me choose my pieces and make sure that I am comfortable with my selection. The store has a variety of choice for all tastes. I went to faubourg Saint-Honore. My wife tells me that this is the original Hermes location and that all fashionistas must make a pilgrimage to this holy site before returning to the dust. It's a really large store with several floors and sections and it gets ALOT of traffic in it. I think for that reason though the service is less personalized than whatever local Hermes store you my frequent. Don't get me wrong though, the service is still top notch and the staff is very attentive. Reading to assist you in shopping while serving you with coffee, tra, champagne or any other beverage of your choice along with fine chocolates and a snacks. Many people frequent this store in hopes of increasing their chances at an opportunity to purchase a Birkin bag. Where as I totally don't understand that concept, I guess it's normal that successful women putting on some display of obsequiousness in order to obtain this status symbol? Anyways, we got a bunch of stuff for my wife and I in order to demonstrate what serious clients we were. And in the end after dropping 25K in one afternoon we still didn't get an extra Birken bag. This store is their flagship store but it doesn't feel like it. When you walk in, everything is on display and they have plenty of options. What I don't like is that the experience doesn't feel like a luxury experience. The store is crowded with people and it feels like a Macy's department store on Black Friday. It's a complete free-for-all of customers trying to get the attention of any sales associate, long wait times, and products thrown around from customers trying them on. I understand that the line outside would be long, but for what's considered to be the pinnacle of luxury brands, Hermes really should think about limiting the number of people in the store so that they can assign a 1:1 customer to staff ratio and provide a luxury experience. read more

Pretty cool to shop at the flagship store. I was in Paris in April, and it was 40°F and windy, so I decided to stop by the store and get a scarf. It was a pretty long wait before I was able to be seen (35 minutes), however they were able to meet my needs and find a scarf that matched my outfit and would be something I would wear with multiple pieces. read more

For being the flagship location of a luxury brand, I am highly disappointed. Walked in the door and not a single person even so much as acknowledged us or said hello. It took well over 30 minutes just to find someone who was willing to help us, and even then the worker who attended to our needs disappeared as soon as the job was done, whereas at stores like Chanel, the sales associates stay by your side throughout your whole shopping experience. While trying to pay for our items, we were directed in different ways by 3 different associates making it impossible to checkout. Our items were placed in the back under the wrong name and it was a nightmare. Honestly will never be shopping here again because it was ridiculous. It seemed the only people the associates cared about were those with a leather good appointment. Luxury stores should teach their employees to attended to ALL customers with grace and warm welcomes. Rude staff. I felt like the character in Pretty Woman - nobody would help me at the Hermes flagship store in Paris. I went in to buy a scarf to go with my new Burberry coat I had just purchased in London. I was greeted in the store, and told to follow a woman who would help me. I followed her in and she then started talking with 3 other sales ladies who were chatting to each other in French. No one would look at me. So I went back up to the greeter and said what happened. She told me to go back to that area and somebody would help me. Then I approached a sales clerk playing on her phone who would not make eye contact with me. Finally, a salesman approached me- a tall man who looked a lot like the love interest in Emily in Paris said to me, "We will help you anyone who breathes and has a big credit card." We were looking for a handbag and were told to sign up online and we "may" get the opportunity to come talk to someone. Really a ridiculous process. We signed up and got a notice they could not accommodate us. We found another Hermès and got in later in day....and we got the bag she was looking for. DO NOT darken the doorstep of this location. When I did my research on Paris before my first trip in May 2019, knew I wanted to shop on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore. This is the location where all the luxury fashion brands have a store. I saved all of my shopping to do at Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore because I wanted something that screamed Paris. And what screams Paris more than Hermès. When I entered the store I had no idea what to expect other than luxury and beauty. This store did not disappoint. I am not certain if it is always this crowded but there were a large number of Asian clients in the store that day. Not sure if it was a tour or if this is where the Asian elite shop on a regular basis. All I know is they were shopping fast and furious. It was AMAZING and I loved every moment of it! Had to wait patiently for service but when the sales lady arrived she was pleasant and helpful. I was looking for a famous Hermès scarf and she kindly showed me several. She took the time to find a pattern and shade that she knew I would like and would compliment my skin tone. I made my choice and the check out was fairly painless. The sales staff were incredibly sweet to my son and gave him a little Hermès pencil set that MOMMA will cherish, lol. Giving it a 4 star only because I forgot my passport that day and was told I could come back. However, no one mentioned they were closed on Sunday so I was unable to get a VAT. No matter it was still a great experience and 1 I will do again on my next trip to Paris! read more

I normally shop at the location on Sevres because it's close to the hotel I usually book. However, they were in the process of renovating and it felt a little chaotic to me, so I decided to try the mothership on Faubourg St. Honore. I had been planning to buy a Constance belt kit to celebrate a recent weight loss. I was directed to the second floor and found a young man in the belt department, in the middle of packing a whole bunch of orders. He eventually greeted me and told me he'd be with me in a few minutes. Well, that stretched into about 15 minutes and I was just starting to wonder if I should come back later when a very sweet woman appeared to help me. I told her what I wanted and after congratulating me on my weight loss (!) she measured me. I had brought another leather belt with me with the holes I use for dress pants and jeans marked. We compared her measurements to my old belt and they lined up perfectly. I selected a hammered finish Constance buckle because I know they get scratched pretty easily. Then it was time to choose the belt. My SA was super patient with me because I knew the colors I wanted, but changed my mind when I saw them on. I ended up with two reversible straps. I am really happy this SA helped me, I am not sure I would have had a 5* experience with the young man. read more

The pattern! Gorgeous. I learned in my teens this was Hermes. We still have the scarf. They are so well made they last forever. This flagship store is impressive. Large. Spacious. They have so many scarves to choose from. Every type of Hermes cuff available. Shoes galore. And everything else. The salespeople here speak many languages too. So they can help the non french speaking Russian to your right and the American to your left. But of course they are happy to speak French too. The prices will leave you breathless. I always stop here when in Paris, but I can't buy here, used to be too poor, then when I had more money I wasn't in Paris for a decade, and now I'm poor again. It boasts two impressive floors of wall to wall lavish Hermès products. From personalized equestrian fashions to the iconic Birkin and Kelly bags, they pretty much have it all here. Speaking of the Birkin and Kelly, they're less likely to hide them here, as well. A little tidbit i'm sure the ladies will appreciate. So if you're in the market to blow some major cash on these elusive handbags, this would be the place. I was offered a few but they were too large or not quite the right color for the person I had in mind. Luckily my sales associate found me the Kelly wallet in beige, which I knew she would like. I grabbed a few ties for myself and I was on my way with orange bags in tow. On a side note, the prices, especially on the leather products, are curiously lower than those in the states. Tack on the VAT tax refund and it's a no brainer if you're looking to burn some cash on these luxury items. Bear in mind, even with the discounts, the prices can still seem exorbitant. Great experience at the Hermes Paris store. All the staff are impeccably and fashionably dressed and oh so helpful. It was crowded, especially by the leather bag section, so not even bothered to wait in line for help. Of course had to stop at the scarf section for the famous Hermes' scarfs. So many selections, colors, and designs... difficult to choose. But, the staff was very helpful and assisted us in selecting the right scarf. Stopped by the man's section for a nice leather belt and Hermes' famous "H" buckle. Decided to purchase the 32mm belt and buckle. Thought about purchasing the 42mm Constance belt and buckle, but the sales staff told me it's really for woman, but is popular with American men. Expect a crowd and a bit of wait to be serviced. Or, you could always try the smaller, boutique Hermes store with no crowd, but slightly less selection of products. It just depends on the experience you are looking for. Had a nice glass of champagne while shopping, so don't be shy to ask for one. If champagne is not your thing, ask for a glass of water or cup of expresso or anything else. read more

It really pains me to give even one star to this "establishment." I really want to give it a negative star or five. I've been on various sides of the fashion/retail spectrum from sales to owning/running my own boutique and customer service is 101. I guess this Hermes location didn't get the memo. Just this last Saturday, I encountered the rudest, most pretentious salesperson working at Hermes-AMY. Let me preface by saying that I have been visiting Paris for many years and have done my share of damage at shops in the realm of Hermes and NEVER have I encountered someone who attempted to make me feel inferior by (not only) walking by and ignoring me after I politely asked her a question/direction for help (given that the shop was complete chaos), but instead stared me down and thumbed her nose at me as she walked away. Nice try, Amy. I'm from Hell's Kitchen so Amy was going to get addressed. And she did. Don't think it made a difference as it was evident that bitterness and nastiness was part of her DNA and the undercurrent that runs through Hermes, St. Honore. I've shopped at other Hermes locations before but this particular one is a Petrie dish of disgusting snobs in dire need of a refresher course in customer service. First on that list should be AMY (she worked the appointment desk on Saturday, May 13th). Dear Management: take a walk to your local Chanel on Rue Cambon and take good note--or Louis Vuitton on Champs Elysees, where its always crazy and hectic and yet they never seem to lose their cool-professionalism and courteousness. Chanel and Louis Vuitton have the nicest staff - probably why I purchase more there. Not rocket science. I don't know Hermes, I get that in some people's eyes you're creme de la creme. But-let's put things in perspective here, you're selling luxury goods not saving lives. Come down to earth and bring your people down with you- especially AMY. read more

Overall my experience at HERMES-FSH was flawless! From staff to selection I grew to love Hermes even more. I was fortunate to get an appointment on my birthday. I got to the store before my appointment time to shop for other items. I checked in and was introduced to an amazing SA. From the moment I met my SA I was out with a handbag in less than 45mins. Saw several bad reviews and I had the exact opposite experience. I was greeted by a saleswoman who helped me choose a belt and buckle. Then she escorted me to the accessories to help me choose a bracelet. There was a bag that I was searching for and she looked to see if they had it and when she saw they didn't she brought me alternatives. Then she escorted me up to the fine jewelry because I expressed an interest in a ring she was wearing. This was some of the best customer service I've ever received. I highly recommend this location. Professional SA staff. Most well known Hermés store in the world to obtain the coveted styles, Birkens and Kellys. Wife always makes her stop here when in Paris, usually makes out very well. Has everything Hermés, from saddles to off the rack clothing, leather goods, home goods. Only downside is that some patrons are a bit obnoxious, just not necessary, but the SAs are usually polite. Recommend highly, since this store provides the most reliable method for one to obtain a Birkin directly. Bon chance! read more

I really still don't know what all the fuss is about Hermés. I came here for Thanksgiving weekend of 2016 and it's supposedly the "Slow Time" here in Paris. However, THAT was not the case. Prior to coming, I did my research and watched numerous videos and read articles as I was on the hunt for the famous Kelly bag (or Birkin as a plan B) for my mom's 65th birthday gift. Basically, you have to get here super early as the store opens at 10:30am. Which MEANS you'll have to get there by 8am to wait so you can be served right away. If you wait at 10am there is a good chance you'll be turned away at some point in the line queue and that they have no more appointments for the day. I did this for two days and had no luck of a Kelly or Birkin. They'll ask you for your passport and I think this is a way to track your purchases. With Hermés, you're only allowed one of these bags every 6 months or so I read. So if they track that based on your passport or some form of ID, I'm sure they track your purchases (not sure if US stores do that). While I was told these bags were "sold out" or they "didn't get a shipment", I have a strong inkling it's a game to earn a bag. So from what I've read, basically when they take you a "private room" with a box, it means you've scored a bag (Be it a Constance, Kelly or Birkin). I believe they do this so other's won't see and that they can use the lines of "No we didn't get shipment". So on the first morning, I asked for the Kelly, and if they didn't have a Kelly, a Birkin was a Plan B. I was told they were sold out. While my SA was checking for other things on the wish list, I saw someone next to me ASK for a Birkin or Kelly as well...their SA came back with a few boxes and took the bigger box and the couple into a side private room. I'm almost positive that it was a Birkin or Kelly but can't confirm as I didn't want to be nosy. But per the reviews and video's I've watched, it surely sounded like the couple scored a famed bag. Obviously, you have to be a fan of the brand to own an Hermés so although i did drop $8K on 2 wallets and a clutch, that apparently was still not enough to score me one on the second day I visited. Overall, I'm giving this experience 2 stars. While my SA's were nice I can't justify how Hermés can get away with that. While it is a beautiful leather bag, I'm not a fan of how they control it's "Supply and Demand". It's smart business wise but as a customer, I'm not a fan of the waiting game either. If you're a CS snob, check out Louis Vuitton. 2 Stars to Hermes from me, I mean seriously, they don't even offer champagne or water like Louis did. read more

My experience coming to this store in 2016 were quiet ugly. 1st visit - fashion week. Bad customer service. They only cared for the VIP customers. 2nd visti - Polo week. All Hermes staffs were too focus on their special event. Bought a bag. It was a whatever. They delivered it to my hotel. 3rd visit - holiday/vacation - most of staffs are off because summer is their vacation/holidays. 4th visit - waited in line then I found out it was just to receive an appointment which scheduled in 3 hours. 5th visit - my appointment schedule (2 hours late).
