My Hermès Click Clack bracelet arrived damaged, including the orange enamel, right out of the box. I took timestamped photos immediately and returned it the next day. Instead of issuing a refund, Hermès claimed I caused the damage, which is completely untrue. When I sent them the photos, they refused to review them because I opened a bank dispute to protect myself. Terrible customer service and zero accountability. I followed every step correctly, and Hermès still refused to take responsibility for sending a defective item. read more

I have never been to their store in person but decided to venture in because I could not decide on a scarf color. The store itself is impeccable. I arrived shortly after it opened on a weekday and it was actually busier than I expected. It did take a few min for someone to help me. It seems like their MO is to not have anyone eagerly awaiting customers and instead give you time to sort or wander. The SA was super helpful and even showed me how to fold the scarf for use with a one of their scarf rings. The scarves themselves are absolutely stunning. Only negative is the street parking in the area is tricky but there is a lot near Bloomingdale's. read more

I purchased a $1,200 men's Hermes belt buckle last year and earlier this year the buckle pin snapped due to normal wear and tear. I brought it to the Hermes store in Chicago for potential repair. It took several weeks since they had to ship it to their Paris location for repair. I finally get a text from a Hermes rep saying they could not repair and will not be able to provide any exchange or credit and it is out of their hands. After speaking to the manager, he also explained that the store would not offer any solution and I am left with an expensive buckle that didn't even last a year. I am extremely disappointed with a top brand like Hermes and will never purchase anything from this brand anymore. When you spend over a thousand dollars on a belt buckle you would expect top service, but that is not what I received. The Hermes brand is just a marketing scam and the products are probably made very cheap. I recommend spending your dollars on a competitor brand where they actually care about your business. read more

Absolutely horrendous customer service. Went in to buy a gift knowing what I wanted. Waited about 10 mins before being "greeted" by a woman on an iPad who inputted me into their system. She then had her associates help a few women that came in after me (and were added to the queue after). I was then "assisted" (that's being generous) by the heavy set man with a beard who was extremely cold, non-friendly and pretentious. Purchased what I needed and got out of there real quick. I'll order online next time. It's a shame, as the store is nice and their products are top notch. The service falls way short however. I was a little intimidated to visit here after reading some of the reviews, but I had a great time this afternoon. I walked in without an appointment since it was a Thursday, and someone greeted us right away and called for an SA. She was friendly and helpful - I tried on a pair of black loafers with a silver Kelly lock, and was ready to buy them when she brought out a version with black hardware which I immediately fell in love with. Also showed me an assortment of black ties, one of which I also took home. Would definitely return if I'm back in town. read more

My mom and I visited to inquire about a bag (we know you can't just walk in to get a bag, we get it) but my mom just wanted to connect with a rep about getting a scarf as well on top of more information and the very underwhelming rep literally rolled his eyes at my mom bc she didn't know the specific names of the bags, etc. She's 69! Be patient and give her a chance to remember! The second time we visited, no one asked to see if we needed help, they asked if we were repeat customers and we said no and they just walked away. Do Not Visit if you are NOT White or Asian. Came in to purchase a couple of items for myself. Have never had a problem in other cities. The group was of mixed race, and I the only person of color. I was completely ignored. No one said hello to me. Only to the others I was with. Everyone else was helped, including multiple people helping single white guests. This was my first visit to Hermès Chicago store. We went there to chose my bday presents. They welcomed us with smiles and questions if they can help, are we looking for something particular.. They did everything for what are there. I don't understand other reviews but my visit was pleasant and we could enjoy our visit and research products easy. My poodle enjoyed herself playing with some cute baby boy and chilling on the chair while I was trying shoes, perfumes.. Unpleasant Experience at Hermes Store I recently visited the Hermes store and unfortunately had a less-than-pleasant experience. I visited the store in Chicago on December 21st evening around 3.00 pm, it was quick in and out as I knew what I wanted and made a purchase of 900 dollars in less than 15 minutes. The overall level of service at the Hermes store needed to be improved. I felt so let down, maybe I was looked down on because of the clothes and shoes I wore. Feeling undervalued or dismissed in a customer service interaction can be disheartening. Zero respect from the sales representative, maybe he thought I was not worth asking if I wanted to see anything else in the store. And OH MY GOD the ATTITUDE- bro what you make annually I make in a day so calm down. It's especially disappointing when you expect a certain level of service, and it falls short. Especially stores like yours need to make each customer feel valued and respected. My intention in sharing this review is not to disparage the brand but to highlight areas that, in my opinion, require attention. Customer service wasn't just awful, it was non-existent. To say I was "greeted" would be inaccurate. Upon entering, I waited patiently near the door thinking a concierge with an iPad or some device would put me in a queue for assistance. No, instead I was snapped at by an advisor who was helping someone else and told to come in? Bizarre. I waited for 15 minutes in women's shoes and actively had a product in hand I wanted to try on. I moved to be in direct view of FOUR different advisors - each decided their phones were more interesting and wondered away. I counted 3 parties being helped in the store and at least 5 advisors on their phones. Absolutely no excuse for not being helped. I've shopped at Hermès in Paris, Brussels, and London - each were shining examples of the House's customer service. Sadly, the Chicago store is just a disgrace by comparison. I love their products, but will be purchasing online or in other cities. The store itself? Absolutely gorgeous. The stairs alone are as much a work of art as the House's scarves and leather goods on display. The staff and service? Horrendous and entirely unworthy of the House they are supposed to represent. read more

The customer service is AWFUL. Bought 2 pairs of sandals, both 6.5. Brought them home and 1 didn't fit - one was clearly/visually smaller. The next weekend my wife brings one pair back and they won't exchange them, claiming it "has particles on it", not a joke. Particle's, was the issue, manager Brian claimed. Wait for it... After a long confrontational conversation with a MANAGER NAMED BRIAN, who has a terrible, condescending attitude, we find out: 1. the pair I bought was from last season and they don't carry it anymore. They claimed we were the ones that created marks on the shoe, but in reality, they were A YEAR OLD AND SOLD TO US BRAND NEW without comment. So maybe, just maybe the 50 people who tried the sandal on OVER THE LAST YEAR, were they ones that left "particles" - just a thought Brian. 2. They further mention that a few pairs of the sandals run big, while others run small. So it's highly likely that many people who buy multiple pairs have the exact same issue - again, just a thought Brian. I'll never shop in this location again. I'd rather travel to "said" city for a long weekend and make purchases at another store. read more

I began shopping at the Chicago Hermes store sometimes within the past couple years. During that time I have worked exclusively with Curtis. My experience with him and the store has been nothing but positive. It is easy to make appointments with him and meet with him whenever I happen to stop in. Because my work takes me away from Chicago most of the time, many of my interactions with Curtis are via messaging. Curtis is always attentive to my inquiries regarding products and makes helpful suggestions regarding other products. If you are looking for an amazing SA in the store, I strongly recommend you ask for Curtis. I find Hermes merchandise to be of the highest quality and have never been disappointed with a purchase. The store currently is in a temporary, yet still beautiful, building, and I look forward to the renovated store. read more

They get two stars only because they have some beautiful products, but buyer beware. My husband went to their door where he was immediately let in and purchased items as a birthday gift. He told the salesperson, "This is only 50/50 that this will work". Oh, no problem and we will give you a gift receipt! But what they didn't say is even within a 24 hour window, one may not return anything except for their store credit. Oh, and even though he walked in the store on his first visit, he needs to make an appointment (I can't do it even w a gift receipt) 24 hours in advance and make the return. Basically, their return policy is NOT a return policy but a trap. The Store Manager mentioned it is "printed on their receipt" --the policy, but that's after you have already made a purchase. Oh, and there are these small plates at the register--not a large sign behind the cash register that states NO RETURNS ONLY STORE CREDIT. Basically, I will never shop at this store again and my "store credit"'is going to be used at another location. (Additionally, "Peter" who waited on my husband and suggested he could return items had the advantage that my husband never made it close to the register to read the "small counter sign" because of other customers were there and the transaction was completed on the store's floor. So, the only way he would know there were "no returns" and that he was being hustled was after he made his purchase and by reading the fine print on the receipt. This feels more like a scam than luxury goods store.) read more

I am an established customer and I spent about 2.5 hours selecting and making my purchases. NO OTHER STORE would ever have access to me for this amount of time. At Hermes, it's normal. My sales associate is an absolute doll. She will bend over backwards to make sure I am accommodeted with every detail. She keeps me updated with new arrivals, she knows my sizes, likes and dislikes. This store is not about picking up an item off the shelf and paying. Hermes is all about relationships. It is a different way to shop. read more

The worst luxury experience ever! The sales people are so mean, they don't care about you at all. I felt so uncomfortable there. Today was a beautiful and sunny 60 degrees day and every worker was acting depressed! Who died? I talked to 3 different sales people and none of them where friendly. This has to be one of the worst customer experience of my life and I am French! I was wearing a navy blu suit with a blouse and expensive French shoes but I was dismissed and made wait an unreasonable amount of time, told that the item I wanted did not exist and then realized it did, told me they had it and then they could not find it. That is not why I had a bad experienced, i felt completely dismissed from the moment I walked in, the woman that I knew by name said she had no memory of me and told her colleague to take care of me, he probably thought I was not worth his time so he sent me "upstairs" where 2 sales people were free , one of them told me that what I wanted did not exist (ignorant and snub) finally some manager took 20 minutes to research and acknowledge I knew what I was talking about, asked me which color I wanted and came back after 15 minutes to tell me he could not find it!!! I will never ever set a foot in that store again, I had a similar experience 7 years ago when I ordered a ring for a friend's birthday and nothing has changed! Rude, snub, uneducated! I love this store! Everyone was friendly. I've been an Hermès shopper for awhile and my local boutique closed. They honored my past purchase history and I left with a beautiful B35 on my birthday. I've purchased notebooks, a bag, refills, shoes and other accessories from here. The service is always impeccable, especially if you ask for Craig or Elenia. They are so friendly and I always make my purchases with them. Hermes quality is legendary so there is no need to discuss it here really. I have yet to have anything repaired since it's all so well made but I plan on getting a cleaning for my Ulysses MM notebook soon. I expect it to go with no hitches and I don't expect to pay for it. That's Hermes for you. I wish they had more selection for men's ready-to-wear, but then again that might be a bad thing for me. I would be living on the streets.
