It was four years ago when we hired him for an addition project and he didn't stick to his time frame or the quoted price of the written contract, bringing up all kinds of excuses. He apologized sincerely, and we thought it just happened "by bad luck " ( Marvin's words). I didn't write a review for him then, believing that things happen.... We made a big mistake to hire him again for the second floor addition on top of the room he had built. The estimate was made in February, The job was started in April- estimated to be completed in July/August. We agreed to the price he quoted and payed the half for the beginning. After stripping the roof and putting the frame on top of the existing room, we found out that he didn't get the permit and had to stop the project until the approval. Our house got flooded several times because of the heavy rains. The tarp that he put up couldn't hold the weight of the water, and each time it rained, we had to be there to constantly dump the water out. The new floors and the walls got ruined; used and unused materials- destroyed. He would not respond to our calls or text messages, until we have decided to take a legal action against him. I am wondering how does he get any good reviews, which certainly do create a false impression.

I feel like I have to write this, if only to warn people…read more I called AGR and they called me quickly back, but then took days just to set an appointment to get a quote and several more days before they actually confirmed the day. This is not the issue I have with them by the way. (I also need to preface by saying I have a background in construction, so I know how to speak the language and I know how to calculate very well material, labor, overhead, profit, etc.) When I met the gentleman from AGR, I told him exactly what I needed for my deck project (size, material, requirements, etc.). He informed me he needed to come back with an Architect just to give me a quote; none of the other 7 other contractors needed to do this, by the way. I asked him for a ballpark, because if his number was say $30k, there would be no sense in wasting both his and my time (I literally made up an astronomical number). He informed me quickly that it would be At Least $30k, immediately spouting off how much an Architect would cost, drawings, etc. I kindly told him that the 7 other contractors I got quotes from were all in the $15k range. He seemed surprised and informed me I should make sure they include everything and are licensed, etc. (for the record, the other companies were all reputable, licensed, bonded, and insured companies) This was not an abrasive interaction. The gentleman was polite, but this is your very typical "look at the neighborhood and try to take a customer for all their worth" contractor, not by honest or quality work. Sorry, but I would not recommend this contractor.

He was precise in letting me know what needed to be done, made adjustments when I changed my mind on colors, did a excellent job every step of the way, and cleaned up beautifully. I love the finished bathroom. Plus, Geo is extremely pleasant to work with and I will definitely hire AGR for future projects.
