3/5 February 2026. Heritage Brewing had been on our list for a while but we don't get out towards Manassas that much. We arrived early in the afternoon and the place was already somewhat busy. Everything was about average for a northern Virginia brewery. The service was prompt and well handled. The beer we had there, in addition to ones we've had from them elsewhere, was certainly up to a good standard. It is a definitely an old school production brewery but that's not a bad thing. read more

What a wonderful spot! Great beers, kombucha, and seasonal seltzers. This veteran owned business knocks it out of the park! Military discounts and live music make this place a favorite for families and friends! Glorious nectar pineapple kombucha tasting notes: The nose has a delicate perfume of juicy pinapple. Honeysuckle nectar hits the tongue and mid palate with an effervescent vanilla finish that delights! Slightly sweet, but not overpowering, this is very drinkable in the summer or for when those winter blues hit you. Get while you can as they rotate with each season. Blueberry lavender seltzer tasting notes: The scent of blueberry pie is predominant on the nose. Slightly tart, but no pucker factor. Fruit forward and jammy with a hint of lavender makes this dessert drink unique and refreshing! The added mouthfeel of the bubble poppers that adds fun and delight to this seltzer. Party in your mouth hands down! Diary Wars nitro milk stout tasting notes: Coffee smoothie! Not one bit bitter or harsh. This nitro is as smooth as it gets with a mocha flavor from beginning to the finish. Nothing else to say except delicious! read more

Great place to visit, spent a good majority of the day there for an event and was not disappointed. Nice little industrial area with a good amount of parking. The facility is very clean and well laid out and the service is wonderful. They have a nice selection of drafts, seltzer and wine. Live music and a food truck. Hidden little "garage-style" brewery. There isn't a big selection to choose from, but some are pretty tasty. One comment I have is that the Dairy Wars stout and the America Express seemed a little thin for the taste I was expecting to have. Other than that, the ambiance is open and grungy with a large tv and wall projector. The bathrooms were decently clean and the bartender was knowledgeable about the process of how they make their brews. Due to the current fear of COVID-19 (Corona Virus), the bar wasn't busy for a Friday night around 6-8pm. I'd say there were a few small groups of people including us, we were 4. It was quiet at first, then the music came on later. The bartender told me it's usually much busier. read more

Good beer and great family atmosphere. Often has a good food truck like the department of smoke bbq. The freedom isnt free is a great ipa that is part of their standard line up. I happen to love stouts and their dry irish stout is very good but they do not appear to have it on tap often. The tasting room is decent size but not a lot of tables if you have food. Its in a small industrial office park and parking generally is not a problem. read more

The Revolution has begun! Kings Mountain, Revolution & Sovereign Stout. I tried one of each and they were all good. I lean more toward the Revolution, a nice malty Amber ale. The tasting room is open and airy and offers a full view of the 20 brew tanks and artisan half tanks against a backdrop of Old Glory. You must try this place. It's more than a place to drink beer. It's a celebration of our heritage as Americans, it captures the spirit of those that have gone before us and offers a nod to the history of our American Revolution. The Kings Mountain gives remembrance to a key battle as the Patriots defeated the British Loyalist in this area near my home town in North Carolina An independently owned & operated brewery in Old Town Manassas. They focus on sustainable practices and local organic ingredients, they are 100 percent American. Three of us stopped in at Heritage Brewing Co. on a Saturday afternoon of the 2014 St. Patrick's Day weekend. We arrived in the early afternoon - there were a lot of folks clad in shamrocks and green - I guess a lot of folks who attended the City of Manassas St. Patrick's Day parade came to Heritage Brewing Co. afterward to drink Ales and celebrate! Heritage is an industrial style building - so don't come here expecting a refined ambiance. It's kind of like drinking in someone's giant garage! This was our first time at Heritage. We were looking forward to trying out a flight of their wares. However, due to St. Patrick's Day weekend festivities, they had suspended flights in favor of pints. I was disappointed as I was the driver - I was looking forward to tasting a number of Ales. So I ordered one brew - the "Freedom Isn't Free" IPA, while my friends proceeded to have several pints each! The Freedom Isn't Free IPA is an IPA for folks who are not hops fans - as it is most definitely not an IPA for hop heads - which I am, But I still enjoyed the Ale. We chatted with the staff, and we got to meet Sean, the young man who is the owner/brewmaster. Super knowledgeable and all-around nice guy. We enjoyed talking with him. Can't wait to come back and try out some actual flights of Ales! read more

The lack of stars is for the lack of COVID precautions. Not only was no one inside wearing a mask or distancing but I was encouraged to take mine off! I got my sampler then sat outside. It's a shame because the group of vets that were in there seemed like they would be charming to talk to under regular circumstances. I got a flight of beers, the scottish wee heavy, the milk stout, the belgian strong ale and the wheat. The beers were nice! Good variation of flavor, the belgian was my favorite here. I'd visit again post-COVID but not before. read more

3.5 stars, but will move up to 4 stars because they were kind enough to switch-out two beers I didn't like with different ones. But $7 for a flight of 4 samples ain't bad. Heritage is set in what looks like an industrial park, with the bar area up front and the brewing area in the back. Fancy, this place is not. Then again, how fancy can you be when you have beer pong? Their beer list has NO LAGERS; this place is 100% ales. As with many microbreweries, Heritage don't have the refrigeration space/time to invest in lagers, so ales it is. So if ales are your thing then you'd enjoy this place. If not, you may be in trouble. They have a set of 4 'flagship' beers and change out the others on a regular basis. As someone who's enjoys lagers much more than ales, I'm probably not the best reviewer. Nonetheless, I did like the American Revolution ale, which was quite citrucy. The American Expedition was also OK. But I didn't enjoy the coffee flavored Sovereign Stout or the Spice Ale nearly as much. read more

Small selection of beers but are excellent! We loved all the beers we ordered. Heritage beers are better than the other breweries in the area. However, there are issues that needs to be addressed to the owner: The place could use some cleaning up to make it look clean and tidy. The floor is dirty, the bathroom is filthy, the long table needs wiping, and the small fridge needs to be wiped down. The storage should have a divider - so it does not look cluttered. The place has potential. We will definitely bring our friends and make it a meet up place if they clean up a bit. Everything I mentioned are not hard to do. They are simple issues, but are important to a customer. Cleanliness and good beer is a great combination. read more

Just okay. Limited selection and some brews are only available bottled which is more expensive and takes away the chance to try it in a flight. It's a small brewery with a couple of picnic tables outdoors and when it's nice out they open the garage door. I really wanted to like this place but the only beer I can say that I didn't mind was the one with honey and ginger. read more

LOVE this place!!!! My husband loves good beer, as do I. This is definitely the place to find it. I've also been on kind of a seltzer kick lately, and let me tell you... it's HARD to find a good seltzer around her. HERITAGE NEVER FAILS at its seltzer game. Best in town. Not overly sweet like the rest. Doesn't matter what flavor they brew, it's brilliant every time. They have also recently upped their live music and food truck game, lots of stuff to do! To start, here's my opinion on the beers I tried at Heritage: American expedition - refreshing, light Freedom isn't free - does not have the normal sour/bitter quality of an IPA, much lighter The Teddy - has more of the IPA bite than the actual IPA on tap Fig Revolution Firkin - tastes like a typical winter ale with warm flavors. Really great for winter. Battle of White Marsh - Smooth, fulfilling, flavorful The staff were very kind and friendly to everyone in the brewery, making for a great atmosphere. It's a good space but light on seating, don't bring a crowd, just some friends because there are lots of tables for four and a bunch of bar room! I'll definitely end up back here sometime. read more

If you are into cars this is an awesome one to visit! They are located next to PTuning, a shop that handles modified cars in the NoVa area. The brewery is located in the back of the building allowing you to also see whatever random cars are parked out back. The brewery is nicely decorated with fun pieces. Beer wise... its ok. I had a honey ginger but was expecting more of a flavor profile out of it but the ambiance was nice. I believe once a month PTuning hosts kind of like a garage block party where modified car owners come by, the brewery is open and food trucks, which could be a fun experience! read more

So disappointing. I'm giving it 2 star only because the guy behind the bar was super friendly and did his job well. The beer left a lot to be desired. Everything just felt like it was missing something. We should have been scared off when we walked in middle of the afternoon on a weekend and we were the only ones there. We were told it was packed the day before. Both us had a flight. We tried several from the main menu and a few of the seasonals. The two seasonals I tried, white marsh and Bradford, both tasted like fall beers and really didn't fit the spring season. One had spice notes of cinnamon and the other tasted like pumpkin? Maybe? The wheat with ginger and honey sounded really good but just fell short. The brewing equipment is right on top of the bar and seating and several motors seem to compete with the music making it loud. I can't imagine if it was packed, I doubt I would have been able to hear anything. Glad to check another brewery off my list but I won't be back. read more

We stopped here en route to a concert at Jiffy Jube Live on the way from Fairfax. It's tucked away in a weird office lot, so don't be confused when you're trying to find it. There are many positive aspects: 1) Kindly young bartender blasting the new Red Hot Chili Peppers' CD throughout the brewery; 2) Free video games; 3) Outdoor seating; 4) Veteran owned; 5) Watermelon beer! However, on the day that we were there, they were OUT OF ICE CREAM, thereby depriving us of the beer floats on their menu. Worth a stop if you're in the area, but none of the beers are particularly life-changing. read more

First visit to this local brewery and brew pub. They have a limited selection of their creations. I had their tasting flight and a glass of their Oak Aged Kings Mountain Scottish Ale. I particularly liked the latter and bought a bottle. Their brew pub is located within their brewing facility. The pub only has beer, potato chips, and a very limited soft drink selection for non-beer drinkers. I liked it much better than the other nearby brew pub. I plan to return and recommend it to other beer lovers. read more

Any brewery that plays "Bohemian Rhapsody" within 15 minutes of my arrival is more than likely going to be a keeper in my book! Then I discovered they were streaming "The Princess Bride" on the side wall and my heart exploded. And with that intro, I will mention how AWESOME Heritage's beer is. I started with a flight (4 beers) of their Expedition, Revolution, current seasonal/firkin (a Christmas-y tasting beer), and their experimental beer, a sour one, with a complicated name that I did not make note of.. (next time!) I ended up with a small glass of the firkin followed by the aforementioned experimental sour beer, which I was oddly enamored with. While Heritage does not serve food, they do have bags of potato chips available for purchase as well as a partnership of sorts with a local BBQ delivery joint. Because beer and BBQ, how can you go wrong? The 3 'beertenders' at Heritage with whom I interacted were all very friendly, knowledgeable and eager to make sure I had a beer in front of me. Veteran owned local brewery, with a great space, great mission, good beer! First- when I walked in chill with bob ross was playing on the TV so I knew this was going to be a good day. Of their flagship beers my favorite is the scotch ale! Heritage does some really great collaboration beers mostly with local farms in the area. I also really loved their nitro stout! Plenty of space in tap room with a huge bar top and tables all around. The is also outside seating as well and you can bring your dogs on the outdoor patio. No food at this brewery but they do have a small selection of chips to snack on while you drink delicious craft beer. -Also they sell crowlers but if you want a growler fill you'll have to bring your own! Make sure visit the restrooms and add your artwork to the chalk wall! **Pro tip: the HOPPY WHEAT doesn't taste hoppy or wheaty at all.. but it's still good! We will certainly revisit Heritage when we are out this way again! read more

Rude. Bad service. If customer service and getting a beer are important to you..don't go. We weren't acknowleged after standing at the bar..Wallet in hand..ready to order for about five minutes. There was No eye contact, hello or we will be with you..pretty standard activities in the service industry. A simple hello, or we will be right with you would have kept us around. And if your wondering there were 2 bartenders and it wasn't crowded. But that courtesy was cerainly extended when the bartenders buddy came in and was served right next to us. Lovely. There are plenty of other quality breweries in the area to check out. I hope if you give this one a chance you will have better service than we did. read more

Decent beer. I've been so excited to try this brewery. I really cannot believe that the employees here could not be even bothered to put on a face mask. Literally zero covid regulations were followed. I wanted to still try the beer so I got a seat outside. But the inside - no one wore a mask or even practiced social distancing. There were so many large groups, who all went up to the bar without face masks. Definitely do not recommend, especially now. I even called ahead before I came and relayed my concerns. The person I spoke with on the phone said they had plenty of outdoors space for safety - this was not true. Groups would randomly congregate in the middle and not follow social distancing. I get that it's challenging for them to "make" people wear masks. The least they could do is enforce social distancing. read more

Very pleasant experience for this traveling brew enthusiast and his friend. Tried several beers, a sampler and couple pints, most better than good. Their IPAs are on point, their malt game is solid (loved King's Mountain), and their barrel-aging skills are notable and developed. I took home a couple bottles of barrel-aged Bradford, their harvest ale, and have enjoyed every drop. Very nice crew, as well. Guys were quite happy to talk about their work and community. Hospitable and knowledgeable, I will return when next in NoVa. read more

Bottom line up front, their beer sucks and they have no idea how to run a professional brewery. There are many reasons why I would not recommend going here, but to touch on a few: 1. $7 a pint. This is Manassas, not Manhattan. Your garbage "pale ale" does not justify paying this much, especially at the place where it's made. 2. The attitude of the owner/operator/ceo/whatever he is. After chatting him up, we mentioned how we've been to many breweries in the area and he proceeded to bad mouth a few of them (Port City, Bad Wolf, Capitol City, Old Bust Head) and talk heritage up to be the greatest thing to happen to the brewing industry. Completely unprofessional, especially from a newcomer. 3. After picking his brain (this dude LOVED to talk about himself and the brewery-in an incredibly condescending way), it's clear he has no true concept of brewing on a professional scale. Imagine someone whose friends and family told him that he was a good cook, and he turned around and opened a restaurant with no professional experience. That's the owner of heritage. 4. They love to play up the "we're patriots and we love America and local products" angle, but it's a charade. Their brewhouse and fermentation tanks all came from China, in order to save a few bucks. I have a buddy who manages a bar in Fairfax, and even their tap handles had the "Made in China" sticker on them. I also read (either on a facebook post or an article) where they claimed that 95% of their ingredients were from local sources. Where exactly is there commercially grown barley and hops in Virginia? What about a malt house? And how would it compete price wise with the big producers out west? Short answer is, there aren't and heritage is lying. 5. More importantly, the beer is terrible. It's not balanced, and has many, many off flavors. If you have any experience in beer judging competitions you'll notice a HIGH amount of fusel alcohols, unwarranted esters (not to style) that suggest no fermentation temperature control or an incorrect pitching rate. Again, don't even bother with this place. There are too many good breweries in the DC/MD/VA area. read more

Heritage Brewing Company is (I think) relatively new to the area. It's a brewery near Old Town Manassas, owned and operated by Vets which I love. They have a long bar that stretches around part of the brewery. There is also seating and corn hole outside. My friends and I decided on samplers. We figure why not, especially since none of us had been to Heritage Brewing Company. You get to pick from their list which is on a chalkboard. The list contains their Flagship beers as well as their seasonal beers. I tried the Revolution, The Teddy which is a Pale Ale, and American Expedition for their flagship beers and the White Marsh under their seasonal beers. I think the tasting was $6.00 for four, which isn't bad. My favorite was the White Marsh. It's the perfect summer sipping beer. Everyone was really nice and the atmosphere was laid back. I'm keeping my word to the guys at Heritage. I said in my last review that I was looking forward to coming back here and trying more of their experimental batches ... and upgrading their review if something wowed me. And it didn't take long for that to happen. Experimental Batch 3 - a ale made with roasted peppers - is exactly the type of big, bold flavor that I was looking for. The pepper flavor shines through and makes for a nice, flavorful ale. It's an ale that's reminiscent of roasted red peppers, or perhaps a mild salsa verde. I happily sampled a few of these, and was enjoying it so much that the wife had to drag me out of here to grab dinner. $7.00 pints & $12.00 growlers and if you bring your own growler they add an additional $2.00. Pale ale leaves an off bitter aftertaste. The Scottish ale has a light malt flavor and has a weee bit of sweet aftertaste it is better that the pale ale however I would not purchase a growler of either especially @ $14.00 each. Bathroom walls are all chalkboard paint so you can leave custom messages. read more
