Came in for a late breakfast on my way to the New London ferry. The place has the quaint interior of a country store. The waitress was very polite and helpfully with the menu (which is extensive and can be modified to the individual taste). I always give kudos for not having to ask for coffee refills. She had it covered almost as soon as I put the mug down. I would definitely recommend it if you're in the area. (Also much less expensive and more personal than the buffet at Mohegan Sun). read more

Stopped in again on our way home from Mohegan Sun. Had a delicious omelette-cheddar cheese with apples and onions. It came with a large serving of home fries and 2 pieces of toast. My husband had a "Herb's Woman size". The French Toast was really good and the eggs and bacon were just average. Coffee is good. Restaurant is very clean. We'll go back. We are so YELP dependent, and thank goodness for that. High reviews of Herb's, drew us in before we checked out of our hotel. Hubby got the meat lovers wrap and he said it was fresh and the perfect size- not overly filling. I ordered the blueberry banana bread French toast with turkey patties and was in breakfast heaven! Nothing like a good hearty homemade fresh breakfast whilst on holiday! Hubby also ordered a mini slice of banana split pie for dessert and said it hit the spot. This place really surprised me. We were driving through Uncasville and were hungry and stumbled in since it had good yelp reviews. On Sunday they only do breakfast so I had a breakfast sandwich at 2pm and DAMN it was good. I also really liked that they had pie. You can even get a $1 slice of if if you want to sample. Found this place on yelp and figured we would give it a try. It was excellent! Our waitress was lacking in friendly skills but the food made up for it!! I had a banana nut muffin and fruit. The muffin was to die for. They toasted it and it practically melted in my mouth! The fruit was kind of expensive $6.95 for a small bowl of fruit. First time at this establishment and after reading several reviews was looking forward to a good meal. Mid morning on a week day and there were 6-8 patrons already seated. The Menu has great options plus they have daily specials ( these are limited quantity so get there early to have your choice of the specials ) - Their Apple crumb French Toast was already out when we got there at 9am. The waitstaff was courteous and quick to greet us. We ordered and ended up waiting 20 mins with no word of our food ( we ordere pancakes and an omelette). After inquiring about the wait they told us just a few mins and 4 mins the later the food arrived. The Food was Exceptional, moderate portion sizes and everything was cooked perfectly. I will try this place again but plan on not having a schedule. I don't recommend eating here if you are trying to make a Ferry in under an hour like I was. read more

Let me first start by saying we were judged from the moment we walked in. We were a group of 7 people, different nationalities, and felt the racism the moment we walked through the doors. It was a busy this Saturday morning, we were staying at Mohegan Sun and wanted a cozy setting for brunch. We walked in to Herbs, excited to try their yummy menu. We were greeted by a young blonde hair women who informed us the wait would be long. We were willing to wait for a table but she made it VERY known she didn't want us there. We even asked about splitting our party up. She even said "the long wait won't chance, do you see those yellow sheets, they still have to be put up on the counter to the kitchen. Once you sit you still will have to wait for the food." She rudely informed us again that they were very busy and the wait would be long. She looked us up and down and told us she recommended we go somewhere else. Her facial expression and emphasis of the long wait and tickets still not up to the window indicated she didn't want us there. We have never felt so unwanted. It sucks to experience this because we were very excited to eat and try the cozy environment Herbs seemed to be. If you want a better experience I suggest Hash Hash a Go Go, they were very welcoming, service and food were great. read more

We were staying at a nearby hotel and decided to have breakfast at Herb's after reading reviews. We were not disappointed! We were seated right away. Staff was friendly and efficient- our coffee was refilled without us having to ask. I had a ham & cheese omelette and my husband had the special pastrami hash with two over-easy eggs. Everything was delicious (even the toast!). A little pricey for breakfast, but definitely worth it! On our drive up to Maine, we Yelped restaurants nearby. HERBS was on top of the list so we decided to try. First, super friendly servers! We ordered the philly cheesesteak sandwhich with cheddar. It was good while it was hot. As it got cold, the meat became dry. They were out of regular fries but luckily they had sweet potato fries which I love. Tasty overall $10.95 for 9oz (they have a 6oz for a buck less). Another dish we ordered was their special for the day, fish reuben. The fish was big and tender while the coleslaw was crispy and delish. The rye bread was toasted perfectly with butter. The dish was served with chips. I'd eat it again. $7.95 For dessert, we chose their mini slices for $1 each. They had a good size menu. Pina colada pie is a must try while peach was ok. Excellent local deli & restaurant. The staff is always nice and the food is always good. Prepare to wait at times for your meal if you want to sit. This is a small place with a small kitchen and the food (as far as I can tell) is cooked to order so one should expect to wait. I'm surprised most of the one and two star reviews come form New Englanders. I have lived in New England and I expect a little more patience from and for our people. I lived full time in CT for 8 years and have spent at least 35 summer weeks in Maine. As a NY/NJ native I can appreciate fast service but sometimes sitting back and relaxing is part of the experience when you are away from home. If you wake up hungry get there ASAP! Otherwise, stay at the casino if you want a huge amounts of mediocre food immediately for three times the cost and access to your room afterward. Otherwise, go to a highway McD's and get a belly bomb that will leave you clenching your cheeks and looking for friendly porcelain 20 min into your trip home.... Herb's is great, you'd be well served if you jump off 95 during the day or roll in after a casino trip for a nice meal. read more

Open for about 45 years, this place is about as authentic as you can get. Excellent food, excellent staff, excellent in just about every aspect I could imagine. Great find! We are so happy we found this place and gave it a try . First and foremost they are so friendly , our waitress Jenny made us feel right at home and told us all about the amazing specials .
