Family run business. No excuses just good service and good people and great food! Traveled all the way from Texas just to eat here! Gitrdone

Omg, omg, omg No BS, this breakfast was the bomb! I had the pastrami hash special with 2 eggs and home fries. My brother in law also had the pastrami hash but was in an omelet, my wife had the feta omelet which had bacon, spinach , tomatoes. The flavors she said were awesome. The coffee was robust, fresh and delicious. The business is family owned and run. The waitress was fabulous and friendly. read more

This had the most incredible food. Everything was cooked wonderfully. Everyone in my family got a small slice of pie after our meal and it was a blessing from the heavens. Our server was kind and caring, and answered all our questions. The diner itself was really cozy, the chairs were comfy, and the decoration and music was fabulous. Thank you Herb's. :) read more

This place is great food is great and service was great. They made me and my friend feel like family,we meet the owner who was so sweet he gave us some history about his family .they also have country store next door that sells pies, and all sorts of jams.We loved the food so much we came back the next day it was nice to go a restaurant were they didn't treat you different because of the color of your skin and have you waiting for hours it not fancy but comfortable, homey just great! read more

This restaurant is probably one of my favorites. The way it feels so homey and gives such a welcoming vibe makes me so happy. Y'all could serve me nails on a plate and I'd be like "well that's just dandy!" And I'd finish that plate because I trust you. I don't remember my servers name. But I wish I had the funds to tip them more than I did. My friends and I will be back, for sure. read more

Great place for Breakfast outside the Casinos in the area. I had the steak and eggs it came with potatoes and toast. It was very good and seasoned well and our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. We will definately return when ever we are in the area for breakfast read more

If I could vote no stars I would. The hours posted are never accurate. But they were actually open this time. When we came in they had us seat ourselves. Our waitress came right over and was very pleasant. She dropped off our menus and brought us coffee. Then for some reason the other waitress took over our table. She was not so nice and had a miserable expression on her face. I was still looking over the menu when she came to take our order. I told her I needed more time and she hovered over me like a vulture. So i asked her if there was a breakfast with bacon home fries and french toast. She nodded, wrote it down and left. When she brought the food it was practically inedible. The home fries were not even cooked all the way and were mushy on the outside with barely any flavor. The French toast was also soggy and was made from basic boring thin bread. The bacon was the only thing that was cook through.....over cooked!!! It was so burnt when you picked it up it crumbled. But it was super thin bacon so it probably cooked in 15 seconds. Then we got our bill. My crappy little breakfast with 2 slices of thin bread 2 slices of bacon and undercooked potatoes came to $14! How!?!?! She charged me individually for each item. So i checked the menu again. Sure enough there was a meal with my exact breakfast plus more. The meal also had toast and eggs for $10.50. So tell me why my food was $14 and i ordered less. When I asked her she said....you got more potatoes this way. REALLY!?!? I will never go back here this place is ridiculous. read more

Highlight of our trip!!!! Amazing food (try the Elvis bread!!) Amazing staff(ask for Ellen and you won't be disappointed!) Welcoming and fun atmosphere. You can customize anything on the menu to your taste. We can't wait to come back here!! read more

Pretty typical family-run, old-school diner. Definitely a good find, especially if you are staying near Mohegan Sun and don't get free breakfast at your hotel (are you listening, Holiday Day Norwich?) The prices are fair, the food is good-to-very good and the service is friendly. It's a can't-go-wrong kinda place. read more

I guess if you're someone of Hispanic descent, it will make a difference as to how you're treated here...I was appalled when ordering a fish & chips lunch when, It arrived soaked in old oil and, the cook expecting I would eat it. When I complained about it, I was offered something else but paid over $20.00 for a $10.00 meal. I could've gone to McDonalds and had a better meal...And much cheaper too! Needless to say, I will never return to a place that doesn't respect me as a customer or overcharge me for a lousy cooks attempt at deceitful service.... read more

This may have been a great dining experience but we did not get to enjoy it. The restaurant was busy but there were definitely tables open. My cousin and I walked in and someone said "be right with you guys" waited for 5 minutes for the another lady to say "be right with you". Another customer comes in to order a to go order and gets taken care of right away. 7-10 minutes later and another lady says "be right with you guys". It felt very uncomfortable for there to be tables open and no one helping us for that amount of time. It's unacceptable behavior and it seems the "locals" are prioritized over any other customer. We left and came over Uncasville Diner and had a lovely meal!! read more

The food at Herb's is delicious and they get it to you fast! Their omelettes are always good and the home fries that come with them are some of the best I've had. I also like the egg and cheese on a croissant, but with turkey sausage added. The menu is huge and they always have different specials, so there's definitely something for everyone. The service is always great; I don't think my cup of coffee has ever gone empty there. Someone I brought for breakfast once asked for the apple sauce that came with their potato pancakes warmed up, and they remembered to do it (I guess most places don't). They've got loads of seating, so it's great for families and groups. All of the goodies for sale up front are very neat, too. I got some hot sauce from their little shop next door that I love. Herb's is overall a fun spot with a good atmosphere and great food. read more

Great restaurant with amazing friendly helpful service. This is a must visit if you are near the Mohegan sun casino. Worth a drive out of your way as the breakfast was delicious and the staff could not be kinder. Put herbs on your must visit list and say hi to Herb, as he apparently likes to hang out at the restaurant and schmooze with his patrons. read more

This place is fantastic! We were a party of 5 and everyone's food was delicious. From the pancakes to the pastrami sandwiches and bagels with lox and omelettes. Our food was well prepared, tasty and the ingredients were quality. When we were done with breakfast we went over to the store next door and bought a few pies to take home to NY and a watermelon. Those did not disappoint also, we enjoyed them very much the next day. We liked this place so much, that we are planning our next trip up there just to have breakfast, which is a 2 hour drive for us but totally worth it! read more

This place was one of the best breakfasts I've had in real long time. I had one of their specials which was a sweet potato hash and it was sweet and spicy, and perfect. The environment was great for family and every staff member was happy to help! Aside from the food being delicious and nice and hot when it got to us, their fresh orange juice was amazing. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area. read more

Went to Herb's after spending the night at Mohegan Sun for a bachelor party. We called ahead for a table of 9 and the staff had everything set up when we got there. The menu had a solid selection. Everyone in my group ordered breakfast food and I didn't hear anyone complaining. I had pancakes, eggs, home fries, bacon and toast -- everything was fantastic. The home fries were especially good. The service was also great. The two women we had serving us were incredibly friendly. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area. They also had a cool shop next door for small-market food items. read more

First time eating here with the family. The prices are perfect. Kid friendly. The food and wait staff are absolutely perfect. I have not one bad thing to say about this place. If you're in the area and can't decide where to go for breakfast, this is your place!! read more

The establishment does feel like it was established in 1968... And it stayed there. I walked in with my boyfriend, who happened to be the only two people of color in the place. And we were greeted with awkward stares and silence.. go figure.... after watching a few waitresses walk by us without speaking, looking in our general direction or even smiling. We then where offered a table.. well it was more of a "you can have a seat there in the corner" where the air conditioning blows from the floor freezing you to death. It was a great experience to be placed in a corner of a restaurant you already are uncomfortable in at the coldest table in the place.. Can't forget about the fact that when she pointed at our table, we had to grab our own menus from the shelf. thanks for the treatment. read more

The food is decent but expensive for breakfast. It's small but clean and has some clutter. The 3 "golden Girls" that are the waitress need to smile and stop talking about customers. If you sit at the counter you can hear them talk, very unprofessional. Remember the customers are the reason why you are working. Maybe it's time to get some younger help who wants to work! read more

Due to the great reviews, I went to Herb's this past Saturday while in the area. Friendly staff. Great menu selection. French toast and hash omelet were both excellent. Never had to ask for a coffee refill, as the wait staff was always on top of things. If you have the time, walk a few steps over to Herb's Country Store.....great selection of homemade pies, local fruits and vegetables, flowers, etc. This is a must stop if you are looking for a great meal. read more

I loved Herb's! The boyfriend and I came here after a night at the Mohegan Sun. We wanted some good breakfast for a great price.. which can be a bit hard to find at the casino. Although it's a few minute drive from Mohegan, we were so happy to have come here. We felt very welcomed as we were greeted with so many friendly hello's. We were directed to find a table and as soon as we sat down the waitress quickly came over to serve us. The breakfast was flavorful and on point; the service was twice as amazing. We also decided to try a couple of their pies.. foodgasm! Because of Herb's, we're planning another trip to the area really soon. read more

We went there for about 10:50 in the morning. Waited for 40 minutes for our food and walked out on them. Not only did we walk out but the chef followed us to our car but he yelled at us. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We would have waited around for out food if there was better customer service but there was no customer service at all. As we sat there and waited for our food not one person came to check on us. That's just pathetic ! read more

I will absolutely be back! The food was phenomenal, I cannot wait to try the rest of the menu. A little tight on space but it has that comfortable feeling of being home. read more

This is the place to go after a night at the casino. Great diner food, friendly service. Wouldn't go anywhere else if I'm ever back in town.

Firstly, let me state I went to Herb's specifically because, having pre-read the menu online, I knew I could get breakfast without having to eat any bacon or pork. On the menu are a few selections which include lox. The other reason for my having gone to Herb's is that my former favorite breakfast place (Eds) has changed hands and been ruined. Herb's is a low-rent dump. The tables are, in some cases, broken, there is a general seediness and a complete lack of decorative flair. It's a depressing room in which tables/chairs are arranged in rows. Sound bounces around. The waitresses speak loudly across space to customers. It seems, somehow, uncivilized. The food. The coffee is not the worst but is far from the best restaurant brew I've ever had. I ordered an omelet with lox and capers. While competently cooked (faint praise; how can you really ruin an omelet?), it was pedestrian. The homefries were uninspiring, being plain cubes of overcooked potatoes without seasoning, onion or anything else to help them taste better. Worst of all was the toast on which was slathered MARGARINE. I didn't expect that at all and found it disgusting and appalling. Taken altogether I found the meal and the milieu very unsatisfactory. If you're on Rte. 32 and looking for breakfast, I'd urge you to go just across the street to Smakosh, which has decent food, good potato pancakes, nice and pleasant service and, while no showplace (but they do put fresh flowers on each table, a nice touch) it's not a dingy den like Herb's. Such a treat! We came here for brunch when we stayed at Mohegan Sun this past weekend and weren't disappointed! Sundays have a breakfast-only menu and we all enjoyed our what we ordered! My breakfast sandwich (criossant with egg, cheese and ham) was delicious! The hash was so crunchy! They even have Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes for kids (which they can make for adults as well!) Service was great; so friendly, efficient, and accommodating! I would highly recommend it if you are in the area!! read more

We have gone here 6 or 7 times so far. It was our favorite place but the service has been getting slower and the food isn't as good as it was. (FYI. Someone else posted a review on Herb's about the long wait, too, but ended up posting under the market not restaurant.) We completely understand that things get busy so we are willing to wait but 45 min.? Way too long. And, the food quality drops a little when they're busy. Also, our meals came out separately and one ended up being lukewarm. The wait staff also didn't bother to ask if we would like more juice/coffee while we wait. We really wanted to like you! read more

Specials always look good, but I usually stick with the basics. They have really good corned beef or pastrami hash. Don't go there much, but it has always been good. Sorta' like a country store setting, some great pies and such that you can take home too. read more

We've been to Herb's twice now, both times when visiting the casinos, and the breakfast food is out of this world amazing. Although it's a little off the beaten path, it's well worth the trip for the food and atmosphere. Will definitely return next time we're in the area. read more
