Found this place on Yelp and took a chance! This place is a HIDDEN GEM!! It's your local luncheonette from my grandparents day! Small local homemade foods. Everything made to order and totally work the wait. Our waitress was awesome. She was very friendly and even laughed at our crazy table of 6. There were also very nice young ladies bringing coffee around several times during our stay. We had several different dishes and there was not one complaint. I had eggs Benedict with the potato pancake...omg delicious! We also had banana bread French toast, Woman's breakfast, Mans Breakfast, a breakfast wrap with kielbasa and French toast with berries granola and whipped cream. All great! After breakfast we went to the country store. Nice gentleman behind the counter. Very old school "general store" feel. It was an old gas station 45 years ago. Used to be a lot better, I went there this past weekend for breakfast/ brunch. There was outdoor seating which was great, had to wait about 20 minutes for the table but that was no issue. However, the service left a lot to be desired. It took almost an hour to get our food, there was no coffee refill, and everything was serviced in styrofoam containers. I have been an Uncasville Resident since my younger years. Herbs has been a staple in the community with there generous donations to various agencies and people throughout the years. Old Man Herb, Ellen or Jeff have always displayed gracious attitudes while trying to be professional to the fullest from the minute you walk in either the Country Stores Door or The Deli/Restaurant. It takes one bad review from someone to ruin a small businesses reputation as they didn't follow what was asked of them. The waitress with the really high eyebrows has terrible service, told us we had a wait time of 30 minutes, even though we called in advanced to say we were coming. Love it! Herb's is like walking into someones house. This place is like the really small diner in a movie. The owners pretty much know everyone and there are picture on the wall of people from around town that know the family, go to school with their kids and what not. The service is really great and friendly, they really care about every single person that goes in there. When i lived in CT i use to love to come here on the weekend and sit at the counter and read the paper and slowly eat my breakfast. When I came back to visit last May with my wife, My friends and I knew how good it was but my wife was wary. After a night at Mohegan Sun, my mother and I decided to explore the town of Uncasville a bit and patron a mom and pop breakfast spot, instead of the overpriced food at the casino. Pulling into Herb's, I knew it was exactly what I wanted. Regulars, gravel parking lot, just plain old adorable. The food was exceptionally good. It couldn't get any fresher. We shared two items: Broccoli and cheese omelette and the stuffed french toast (peaches, cream cheese, whipped cream and cinnamon). My potatoes were a little overdone, but the hollandaise and egg yolk handled that fine. Next, I had a reuben. The waitress gave me a funny look when I ordered it: I didn't realize that they only serve breakfast all day; lunch stuff is only made after 11. She was nice enough to put the sandwich in anyway. It arrived looking very appetizing, but small. The cole slaw that came with it was THE best I've ever had. I'm not a slaw guy, but this was delicious: fresh red onion, paprika, a very light dressing. Impressed by my display, my waitress offered me a new thing they are done for dessert: a sliver of pie. For $1, I had what was essentially a little more than a sample of apple pie.
