The Epitome of a Terrible Dealership Experience…read more
If you are an out-of-state buyer, do not work with this dealership. This ranks as the absolute worst customer service experience of my life. What should have been a straightforward purchase turned into a masterclass in dishonesty, terrible communication, and shockingly combative management.
Here is the breakdown of how the horrible experience:
During negotiations, the salesperson agreed to secure an extra key for the car, confirming their manager would easily approve it. Shortly after, they backtracked, claiming no one was available to cut the key before delivery. To compensate, they offered $200 cash, only to renege on that offer shortly after too.
Next up with the front bumper. From the very beginning, I noticed online that this sporty car lacked a front license plate bracket. Imagine my surprise when I discovered they went ahead and drilled holes right into the front bumper anyway. For anyone who appreciates sports cars and lives in a state that doesn't require a front plate, permanently defacing the bumper is a dealbreaker.
After pushing back on the drilled holes, staff initially belittled my concern and claimed they couldn't fix it. They finally proposed using bumper plugs, but tried to make me buy them myself for $85 and expected me to take a drill to the car myself to install them--risking cracking the bumper. I eventually got them to cover the cost and agree to the installation.
Once my deposit and wire transfer cleared, communication completely flatlined. Getting an update on the bumper plugs required an exhausting loop of calling the sales person, reception, leaving messages, and texting with either no responses at all or extremely delayed.
When I finally reached my salesperson, they claimed the parts department was still waiting on an update. Suspecting something was off, I called the parts department directly. They checked with the other parts department and confirmed the parts had not been ordered yet. When confronted, the salesperson insisted they were ordered on a specific date. They eventually sent a confirmation email that conspicuously omitted the order date. I called the manufacturer directly and discovered the order had actually been placed just an hour after I called them out.
Realizing I was dealing with dishonest practices, I gave them a chance to earn back my business or unwind the deal. When I spoke with the sales manager the next day, he argued with me like an unruly child, aggressively defending every mistake and telling me my concerns were "ridiculous" in a borderline yelling, highly combative manner. When I called out his unacceptable treatment of me as a customer in real time, he straight up told me I wasn't a customer to him and that he had zero remorse for how he was handling it.
Throughout the purchasing process, finance had repeatedly assured me that the deal could be fully unwound at any point if I wasn't happy. Yet, when I asked to pull the plug, the sales manager flat-out refused, claiming he "wouldn't allow it" and stating I couldn't do it. When I finally went back to the finance person he told me that the sales manager said that if I called back to have me reach back out to him and that he'd agree to unwinding the deal. When I did, the sales manager refused to return my deposit. The finance person confirmed my hands were tied regarding the deposit due to the paperwork. Trapped by the deposit, I was forced to push through and buy the car.
And to top it all off, when I finally got my car, the fuse box cover under the glove box was missing (to which the dealership refused to replace), there were coffee stains on the inside center console, brown spots from road use all over the car paint that I had to pay over $800 to get clay barred out, and a literal dent down the whole side of the passenger side door along with a deep scratch stretching those two doors (none of which was visible in the online listing).
