I bought a new 2024 Subaru Outback from here, because there was finally a dealership in my area that could service my car. The purchasing experience was fine. But today I went in for an oil change and left feeling totally scammed. When I approached the advisor, he said, "we think your car is out of alignment." I said, "How in the world could you know that? You haven't even looked at it yet!" He said, "we have speed bumps with sensors as you're coming in to the service bay. It says it's slightly out of alignment." I said, "REALLY? I actually couldn't decide which bay to come in to so I ran over them at an angle." Slowly, I might add. He basically said they'd check it and if it didn't need an alignment they wouldn't do one. I said, "Well, can you come talk to me and show me the numbers?" He said, "No, we only have one machine, and if we stop and talk to people it holds up everyone else. We'll give you a before and after so you can see there's no funny business. If it does need one, it'll be $170." I stood there, totally feeling like I was being upsold, but finally said, "Okay." He was pressuring me to make a decision right then and sign the authorization form. Interestingly enough, on the final invoice it said, "Customer states perform 4 wheel alignment." No, I NEVER said that. I reluctantly signed something saying they could do it if it really needed it because he said they couldn't stop for three minutes and come show me the numbers. I was sitting there, a 90 second walk from the diagnostic area, waiting. Upon further research when I got home, I learned that the detection systems, "Hunter Quick Check Drive" (or perhaps knockoff from a competitor) are explicitly marketed to dealerships as a profit tool. Hunter's own marketing states, "wheel alignment is the most profitable dealership service" and pitches the system as a way to "gain profits and revenue" by scanning every car that comes in. Their website says, "Don't lose out on hidden alignment opportunities!" Does that mean City Limits got it solely for that purpose? I have no idea. Can the dealership claim that what they did was above board? Of course they can. And they will. But I definitely felt strong-armed into signing off on something I wasn't convinced I needed. My bad for caving. To get some perspective I talked to another service advisor from a different team, and he explained that two of the numbers were consistent with a real, but extremely trivial deviation -- the kind that's genuinely plausible from an off-angle pass over a sensor pad, and also the kind that most shops would consider a rounding-error fail rather than a "you need this now" issue. Those two numbers "failed" by nearly the SMALLEST measurable margin. There was one other number that was more significantly "off," and he said that probably couldn't have been skewed by the uneven pass over their laser speed bump. However, even that number wasn't in any way dangerous, and the abnormal wear pattern on a tire would take thousands of miles to show, not hundreds. In other words, it probably needed to be aligned at some point, but it definitely wasn't urgent. Know how long it took that guy to explain all this to me? About 45 seconds. And if I had known what he told me, I would've skipped the alignment for now. But City Limits opted not to tell me any of that. They pressured me and made a sale. Beware of this tactic and don't let them scam you. Take your car somewhere else to be evaluated if they tell you that you need an alignment before they've even laid eyes on it. Shame on you, City Limits Subaru. These "profits" aren't worth it if you gain them by withholding information from your customers and pressuring them into services they could easily put off for a time. In November last year (2025) my husband and I visited my mother - in - law from WA state. The drive down put some wear on his Subaru that needed to be addressed before we drove home. From the moment we walked in I was in "awe"! Maybe it's a Texas thing but there were no shortage of options to fill your time while you wait. From a gift shop to a cafe to a TV room I definitely felt catered to. Now fast forward to February of this year (2026) we moved down and our vehicles needed service from that long haul. Not only did they find more than we anticipated, but they prioritized it as if we were family, and kept us updated to the very best that they could! They provided a loaner without question and due to the delay in his vehicle being fixed; offered to wave cleaning fees if we needed to take our two large very furry dogs anywhere (which we did not). But as the proud parent of many pets and a 10000% animal lover I couldn't stop gushing over their large and multiple dog parks! My wife and I bought a used Subaru Crosstrek from a different dealer and took the vehicle to a local mechanic. The mechanic checked it out and stated that it was clean and mechanically sound. While driving to work one afternoon I hit some debris that was in the road, and when I went to leave my job my check engine light came on. I checked the engine bay and beneath my car was all of my coolant. So we had our crosstrek towed to this dealership as it was close to where I work. They inspected the vehicle and informed us that the vehicle needed approximately $11,000 in repairs; more than vehicle was worth and almost twice the amount that we spent on the car to begin with. We then informed the dealership that we would be interested in purchasing another vehicle. They allowed us a rental while we were trying to decide how we were going to move forward. They offered us 2000 trade in value. While working with our insurance company, our insurance stated that if the defects were caused by collision damage then they would cover a significant portion of us purchasing a newer vehicle. So I called the dealership again and asked them to see if the car looked like it had collision damage. The person I spoke with said, "No, there wasn't anything indicating that I had hit anything. We decided to go get the vehicle and have a second garage take a look at it. Here are the problems we had. 1. Every time we informed the dealership that there was a vehicle on their lot that we were interested in, the price would increase on the website for that vehicle. That is initially what prompted us to go get the vehicle in the first place. 2. The garage we took it too after this dealership did the repairs for less than 500. 3. Today I opened my carfax report and I see that they reported that the car had new collision damage making any value the car had plummet. I mean having a coffee shop in house is cool I guess but in my field of work, building and maintaining relationships is paramount for future success. Doesn't look good guys. This was our second Subaru and this experience soured us on the brand. We are considering getting an attorney. Thanks for reading. read more

It's a long story, so buckle up... I bought my parents' old (not that old, a 2020) Subaru Crosstrek. I live in Illinois and my parents live in TX and bought it brand new from a dealership in Houston. Since they were coming up to visit me before Christmas, they drove the car up and left it with me instead of me waiting to sell my old car and purchase theirs when driving back to TX for the holidays. Currently, I work from home, so I did not drive it that often before driving two days to TX for holidays. The weather driving home was so horrible that the car wouldn't let me use cruise control. For hours at a time, I drove 50 mph or under. It was a long, frustrating, and tiring trip. The whole time sensors and lights were beeping at me. I did not go longer than 5 minutes without some sort of light on some part of the dashboard going off or some beep happening. At one point I even called my mom in tears asking for guidance on what to do. While some of her pointers helped, I arrived at their home after two days of the car driving me crazy and was considering trading it in. It was that awful of a drive. The only positives I could mention at that time were that I made the 1,000-mile trip on 2 tanks of fuel (seriously! That is hella efficient.) And 2 times I probably should have hydroplaned off the road due to high water on the roads and being stuck between 18-wheelers or other large vehicles in construction zones. That car was like Jesus, it walked across water! Seriously though, in any other car I would have at least fishtailed, if not gone off the road, but that car didn't hesitate to handle those road conditions. After speaking with my mom, the person who drove it before I purchased it, I decided to make an appointment with a Subaru dealership to learn how to drive it. That sounded so silly to me. I want to drive a car, not a computer. And yet, I know that is how most cars are being made. Gone are the days of popping the hood on a truck and the engine having so few parts that you can see through to the ground below. Since part of my holidays would be spent in Austin visiting friends, I made an appointment at the Buda Subaru location to be educated on the vehicle. Making the appointment online was super simple. The two gentlemen I met when I walked into the Service Department were incredibly kind and understanding. Then Jennyfer, the sales associate assigned to my appointment, was the best Christmas present! She was so patient with me while I listed out all my frustrations with the vehicle. She went through my entire list of concerns and taught me everything I needed to know. Not only did she teach me how to use things, but she also taught me the WHY! The WHY of why certain things were programmed to do XYZ. This was such empowering information as it helped me decide what features to turn off or on and when. We even took it on a test drive so I could show her certain things and she explained to me the WHY and how to handle the wheel when it gave me feedback or how the wheels/lights would react in certain scenarios. I felt so incredibly relieved AND empowered after she spent an hour and a half working with me. Thanks to Jennyfer, I decided to drive it back to IL and see if the trip home went better now that I was educated on how to drive the vehicle. IT WAS SO MUCH BETTER! Again, only 2 tanks of gas to get home - what the what?!! Since arriving home, I have driven in some awful road conditions. Not only did the car handle everything beautifully, but I also knew what to use and when for each of those scenarios. Again, very empowering to have the education on all the little things to possibly utilize in that car. Heck, I even utilized Manual in an uphill densely packed iced road scenario. I knew how to do that thanks to Jennyfer! Also, thanks to her help, I am not only keeping the car, but recommending my friends and family who are Subaru people to go to her in Buda. I even told Jennyfer that when the time came for me to trade it in, that I would do it during a holiday just so I could get it from her in Buda! read more

They have not done so, and now it is accruing late fees. The driver was their employee Omar. The last person to tell me they would take care of this issue, is named Carin Moore. Avoid buying a vehicle from this place! They sold me a lemon of a truck and completely refused to do the right thing by taking it back. I had to return three times in less than a month after buying it, dealing with issue after issue with the engine light on. My husband and I were in a tough spot having our Forester broken into and back window shattered on our way from Indy to Tucson. On a Thursday afternoon, Associate Parts Manager Ryan went out of his way to locate a replacement part and even called me at 7am on a Saturday letting me know the part arrived and their Service Department was ready for us. When we arrived Lou Ann offered to give us a ride to breakfast if needed, was over-the-top friendly and assured us she wanted us to be comfortable (and well fed in their cafe) while we waited for our repair to be completed. I purchased a 40k car from the dealership. They messed up my registration and I have talked to several 'managers' who have said they will get back with me and I hear nothing. I have left numerous voice mails that are never returned. The lady said she would send me an email and I still have yet to receive that. I've had issues with my Subaru Ascent 2023 infotainment system freezing since new. brought in to get fixed, did not test drive just blamed windshield as not OEM. getting windshield repaired and got new appt... service manager said he'd be happy to look at it but that should fix it. not tied to eyesight, this is nav freezing, radio stop working etc. don't buy a Subaru Ascent. lots of lip service but no action. lied about test driving as mileage was same 3 days later when I picked it up. I visited the service department at City Limits Subaru on 12/11/2023 to have my car battery (2014 Subaru Outback) inspected, and to have the batteries in my keys replaced. I arrived at the scheduled time and was greeted by Ernesto of the service dept. I explained what I wanted and he had me and my wife wait in the lounge. He said that they weren't busy and would get started. We were approached by a salesman a short while later to inform us that he appraised our vehicle and made us an offer (not solicited or appreciated). After 50 minutes I inquired as to the status. He said that the battery was fine and I asked to check out. He said that they had not changed the batteries in the keys and that they would get right on it. 30 minutes later they were ready. Ernesto said that there was no charge, and he would not accept payment. I would rather have good service than free service. I will be going back to my regular Subaru dealer. Time is precious and it should not be wasted. read more
