I am not sure what I expected to see when I thought of a library in Hemet, but it sure wasn't this. This place is spectacular! We came for the special event "Star Gazing Party" last night. They have a nice parking lot and a 24 hour book machine in the front. You can literally go get a book on a late nighter. We entered in to find two stairways one on each side and an elevator in the center. On the right side is a bench with a bronze statue of a boy and a girl reading a book. When I return I will take lots of photos to show you. This place is humongous! We went up in the elevator to see a huge meeting room. We went out on the roof where they had the event set up. There were about 6 people set up with telescopes varying in sizes. They were serving free hot chocolate which was considerate on a nice cold night. We had an amazing time viewing the moon and mars. There would have been many more things to see had it not been a cloudy night. They had a raffle for some pretty cool science things. I will definitely be coming back again to get a card, and to take some awesome pictures of the actual library.

    Front of the gorgeous library!

I'm so sad that I live in a town where the library is only open 16 hours a week.

They are closed Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. That saddens me for my 4 year old son that is at home daily.

Certainly as someone else said, no place/library is perfect, but for me, doing research at the Hemet library, it is most comfortable.

As of June they have reopened their doors. Note they have changed phone numbers too! The one on Yelp is correct, google is still being updated. (951) 654-4470 is the number you want to call. Being new in town, I went in looking for books for toddlers and a summer program and just like any library they had both. The girls at the desk were friendly and helpful. If you're applying for a new library card, bring ID and proof of address if you haven't updated address on ID. They will take an utility bill. Simple. Check done The selection of books here is fair, dvds not so much. Books vary on subjects and some in Spanish too. You do have to consider is fairly small library. Don't expect to find every single book in mind. But nonetheless don't feel limited to only space and books found here. Being a county library, you can order books from any library to be brought here and simply pick up once items arrive. If you're looking for a room full of computers, that's not the case here. They have about 4-5 computers with access to the internet. Printing black and white is .15 cents and color is .65 cents a page. They have space designated for kids which is nice and clean but in my humble opinion should be stocked a bit more. Overall this library is small and would love for the city to consider expanding it in a near future as the size of the library compared to all the households in San Jacinto is not proportional.

We attended the "animal talk" with guests LLC Reptile this month and the employee refused to use a microphone for over half an hour because he legit said "he's never used one before and didn't know how it worked" and with way too many kids and parents packed in that room, you couldn't hear anything. Library employees let it get out of hand, let children stand up so everyone behind them couldn't see and just couldn't control the noise level. It wasn't a fun experience and my kids begged to go half way through because it was just talking and barely any interaction. This is just feedback that you can hopefully take to improve on your next event. PLEASE think about passing out tickets (like the other locations) to control how many people can enter. We were there waiting 30 minutes prior, reading inside and we were almost the last ones in because we didn't know a mob had already formed blocking the entire entrance. The sad part was your entire parking lot was packed and vehicles were parked up and down the street for this event and all I heard were kids and parents complaining that they couldn't see/hear anything. We've also been to a craft day where because we sat at a back table, they ran out of the craft before they got to us which is strange since there weren't that many people there. Again, think about being more prepared or just limit how many people can join an event so everyone can have fun and feel included.
