This HAS to be the NICEST library my wife and I have EVER visited. ENTIRE staff is VERY HELPFUL, NICE, and WELCOMING, unlike other libraries we've visited over the years. Excellent selection of books, CDs, DVDs, and all kinds of other interesting things to borrow. They're VERY generous with their return date policies, too. Staff empties the return box often, with a quick return of materials to the correct racks, without issues. A VERY relaxing and nice place to cool off at, ESPECIALLY during the HOT summer season. Great programs for the entire family to participate in, too. There's a new Children's Center expansion building under construction on the north side of the main building underway, opening sometime in the Fall. The BIG Veteran's Park to the east is perfect for fresh air and exercise, with the most BEAUTIFUL patch of green grass I've ever seen, and a HUGE, open view of the Temecula Valley skyline. We'll keep coming. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!! Library Hours: M-F 10-6 Sat 12-5 Sun Closed read more

I heard a rumor that this year's Silent Auction will be special. Lots of donors with many special items. Given the local area's focus on beauty and fitness (and blessed with so many open and rideable trails), am bidding on the official Murrieta Library Schwinn 3-wheeler and perhaps a few of the beach cruisers. Time for better heart health and book mobility Murrieta! The Library is leading the way. read more

Went here today after a couple of years of not visiting this library. It's changed a bit. Firstly let's talk about parking. Good luck finding parking. The lot is very small, and you'd probably have to park farther on the Senior Center side or across the street by the elementary school. This library is not as fancy or as big as the Temecula Library, but it also has a Children's Section. What's cool here, too, is that certain days of the week they bring support dogs for children to read to, which I thought is pretty cool. ***But wait... there's more!! What caught my eye today was that as I was leaving, I saw a passport section there, so I asked one of the staff about it. He said they started it last year, and they have paper applications, or you could go online to make an appointment. This is a big upgrade to this library since having this type of service is extremely very helpful to the community and helping those who need/want a passport without having to go super far. Kudos Murrieta Library, whomever came up w such an awesome idea to have this!! I'm deeply impressed!! read more

Best local library! There is even a seed library if you're into gardening. The children's section is wonderful

Truly, this is my favorite place in town. I do love being here, it's a wonderful environment, they have classes, they have therapy dogs come in so kids can read to them, they have special events above and beyond what they need to. For a while they had a program where you could even order a book from Amazon! Okay that's all the stuff on top of it just being a top tier library. I think my favorite part about this place is that they have a library of things- need help with your phone? They've got you. Need a pack of multiple copies of a book for your book club? They've got you. Wanna see how you'd be at electric guitar? They have one with an amplifier for you. Check out a drum kit while you're there too! Additionally they have a seed library, make your garden! There's so much more. Go visit! read more

OMG, I couldn't LOVE a place more. Our library has the best books, can easily order from other libraries if they don't have what you want, and they actively help track if any issues come up. THEY GIVE AWAY AWESOME GOODY BAGS ALL THE TIME FOR NO REASON! - Including a recent Unstress Package; deluxe. THEY GIVE AWESOME FREE CLASSES FOR ADULTS! -- Including a recent Watercolor Painting Class that changed my life. THEY HAVE A FUNTASTIC SEED LIBRARY -- to help with gardening. They give away books every year at the end of the Summer Reading program -- just for reading! This place is the bomb, and a TRUE GEM of our community. The people are great. I love it with all my heart. read more

I recently started my journey back into reading books after a LONG drought and I absolutely love this library! I can use their website to browse for books I want to read, request the books, and get a text when they arrive for pickup! They also automatically renew them for me, which is a bonus. Staff are friendly, and they have a great children's area. read more

Great library. Daughter loves books. The kid's selection is AWESOME! Kids area nice and organized.

So I have been previously here but not to study. I have stuff to print and staff were helpful. That is not the same case when you're trying to get work done and study. I was meeting with a friend to study. I got there around 1:45 and she was there since 12. She was in the study rooms and its reserved for 2 hours. So when I got there, I joined her, for 15 minutes until the librarian guy came and asked us to empty the room since there was another person waiting for the room. So then I went and asked him if I could get another room with my library card since I was not with my friend the whole time and If I knew that was the case, I wouldn't even have bothered to sit for 15 minutes, I would have waited until her time was up so I could get a room. He refused! he said that I have to check with him in an hour. It wasn't even 20 minutes later, the second study room was empty.... After we left the study room, i went to the Heritage room that is suppose to be quiet area. Sure is quiet in the room, there are tables out by that room and there were some teachers/tutors that were being loud. So I could not study in the heritage room because the internet sucks!!! so I thought if I sit outside that room, it would be better I would have wifi according to the guy who works at the reference desk... well wifi does not work not in the heritage room, not outside that area. people are loud there. It doesnt even seem like its a library. I was annoyed that I could not get any work done because I was trying to use google docs and I cant even type anything since the internet kept disconnecting and my Mac charge was dying.... So I go again to the front desk guy and ask him. He tell me " maybe there is an issue with your device" NO my Mac and phone are brand new! there is nothing wrong with them. I go to Temecula public Library and they work perfectly. I was annoyed that I was sitting there over an hour and didnt get much done... I asked to speak to a supervisor. She tells me that she never got any complains when my friend had complained previously about the wifi... She also said there are other libraries in the area that I can go to... thats very welcoming message to never go there again!! very frustrated with their service and how they handle things. Its a library the least they can have is wifi since people go there to do work... I took a picture of the network and how it kept reconnecting! Basically the whole time I was there since I left the study room read more

Am I the only one that has severe allergies to the dogs that are in this public library on Monday nights? I had to enlist the aid of only extreme allergy medication because of these dogs! It is unfair to people with babies and me, as an adult with allergies. It has been 4 hours since I left the library and my head is still swollen from all them dogs in the children's book section.... I don't understand why pets are allowed where children and adults are. It's a public library NOT a pet food store or dog park. Surely there has to be an ordinance or one that is in the works against these dogs in Murrieta's library. I was here today Monday at about 4:30-5:30 read more

The selection is adequte and the convenience of a state-of-the-art facility is a big plus. Parking is never a hassle here either. There are dozens of magazines to peruse and the Non-fiction History section came in handy for my final research project. I know libraries are old school with the internet providing so much information at your fingertips. But a lot can be said about the satisfaction of doing your own research. Free wifi and clean restrooms are other prominent features here as well. Micro-fiche anyone... read more

I LOVE this place! The kids love this place, which is why I wished they would extend their hours. I'm sure the hours are based on volunteer availability. If my kids were older I'd volunteer a day or two for 2 hours so that they could stay open at least until 8pm. The lady who handles the kids crafts on Mondays and Wednesdays is brilliant, she is awesome the kids absolutely love doing crafts they have here after story time. I'm updating this post because I'm so disappointed about weekend hours. On weekends it only makes sense they would open earlier and close later then hey do on weekdays, but this is not the case. And on Sunday it isn't open at all. What needs to happen to change the hours? Call city hall? read more

We are fortunate for living in such a great city such as Murrieta. There is so much to do and great places to eat. One of my favorite things about this city is the Murrieta Public Library. I am usually here very often. It's my favorite place to be when I need some peace and quiet. It is also a great place to study. Often I am here checking out books at least twice a month. They have such a great selection of books. And not just in the adult section, but also in the children's section. My kids also enjoy the different events that goes on monthly. It varies so be sure to check on their website. read more

I think this library is getting worse every month. They have computers (which you have to sign up for) with internet, but every other day the internet connection is half the speed of Starbucks' connection. It's best to bring a laptop over there to use their free fast wi-fi. Also, their computers have Internet Explorer browsers, Flash, Java, etc. that are not up to date, so everything is very slow. I wish they had Fireforx...:( Sometimes I hate going to their restrooms. I don't drying my hands under the air dryer because there are dirt and germs being blown through the machine and onto your hands. Even though they have paper towel dispensers, THEY NEVER REFILL THEM. EVER. The workers refilled them one time when one of the air dryers broke down. Maybe I should try breaking both of them.... for good. read more

Free use of the computers are nice. Odd hours are a bit strange. Nice collection of reading materials. Across from an elementary school, so if you are looking for peace and solitude do not go right when the children are let out of school. read more

Fantastic library for my son. We come here for story time each week. They have a courtyard outside and the kids can run around without worrying about noise beforehand. They've also got a great selection of kids books. I use a kindle, but they have an e-lending system that's great for me too. Really fantastic programs here, and it's a beautiful library! read more

Great new building, pretty fast WIFI, AC...now about those effen kids screaming and crying in the lobby. Is this a library or a nursery? Where's a grumpy old librarian when you need one??? STFU! I spoke with head librarian, Elise Malkowski and she was very nice. Her feedback is as follows "Libraries of the 21st century aren't quiet. We have lots of young families in the area. There is a code of conduct posted (which evidently isn't enforced) You can always inform staff if someone is on cell phone etc. The architecture is bad. W.e need better acoustics I've had to deal with angry parents too." We discussed this in her private office with the door closed. I guess it's too loud out in the main area to get anything done... Anyway, downgraded to 2 stars as this community amenity has been hijacked by inconsiderate parents and rude patrons with no recourse. Staff is oblivious and apparently fearful of maintaining reasonable decorum. To all folks that want a place to study, read and learn in peace, aka what the library is for, go elsewhere. Boo. read more

This is my upmost favorite place in Murrieta. I bring my seven and two year old here daily and they also enjoy it. My seven year old does his homework and my two year old loves walking around looking at all the wonderful books they have! She also plays on the computer they have for toddlers. It's wonderful. The staff is normally quite helpful. There's one librarian, I feel awful because I can't remember her name, but she's so helpful and is always smiling! The other day my son had to make a word search on line for his spelling words and this particular librarian went out of her way to help us and didn't seem bothered at all. I'm so thankful for our library! You should totally check it out. read more

My children just participated and finished the Summer Reading Program and it was excellent! The program was fun and helped me to get my children to read, because of the lure of getting a prize. The library also has a lot of great summer programs and is overall a great place to visit. read more

This library is great! My son and I visit frequently. He likes the children's section. There are a good variety of books and movies to choose from. If we have time, I let him play on the computer for a little while. I enjoy the access to computers for adults. There are plenty for everyone. Printing is also good because there was a time mine was broken and I had to go to the library to print. 10¢ a page is very reasonable. I have never had a problem with the staff. Everyone is always nice and helpful when I need assistance. The lady at the information desk next to the printer is great! There's been a few time I needed some assistance and she helped me. The ladies in the children's section are also great and answer any questions we may have. If you have a book and didn't finish it, it's easy to check it out again. All you have to do is log in online or call. I honestly don't understand how people can complain about a library. You have access to so many books, movies, magazines, etc...All to help your or your children's minds grow and it's all FREE to you. All you need is a library card. This place is great! Give them a visit. read more

We went to the Preschool Prep storytime. This was our first time here. Arrived early with my 3.5 year old. She got her name tag, went to the bathroom went back out and waited until it was time to go in. While we waited outside one of the ladies announced that parents do not go in with the kids. It was a "kids only" thing - thats fine. My daughter went in and then I went into the library to look around since it was our first time there. 15 minutes into the program my daughter comes into the library with another lady (i'm assuming worker) but as soon as my daughter said mommy the lady left my daughter with me and disappeared. Didn't say anything to me - no words nothing. She could have dropped my daughter off with some random person all because my daughter said mommy and stayed by my side. I asked my daughter whats up and she said she needed to go potty. Ok, take her potty and then try to get back in. All the doors are LOCKED! My daughter couldn't get back in at all to finish the class. I went to the counter to ask if she could be let back in and they said no. Once they leave the room they CAN'T get back in! Well that would have been nice IF someone had VERBALLY told the new parents this. Meanwhile my kids in tears because she wanted to go back inside. They looked at her and basically said sorry about your luck come back next time and left us at that. Not the way to handle this type of situation, not to mention how they just left my kid with me and no words were said as to why. Needless to say as a new resident to the area this is unacceptable. Children do need bathroom breaks even if they went 20 minutes prior and should NOT be shut out because of that. I'm also wondering if the "teacher" is credentialed to be left alone with the kids because if she isn't then that is illegal. The lady who dropped the kids off if needed should also explain to the parent that they can't be let back in do to disturbing the other kids. So much for inclusion of those with special needs kids who may need to see a parent during this time for various reasons. read more

I take my daughter to the toddler story time here and she loves it. It has helped her grow in so many ways. I only wish that story time ran longer throughout the year then it does. It would be nice if the kids story section in the library had a bit more for the little ones but overall it's a great library. We're looking forward to story time when it starts up again. read more

This is by far one of my favorite libraries to study at. It is quiet, up to date, and has ample room with desks and plenty of outlets for electronics. The library is located in a very nice and convenient area complete with available shaded parking. The people who frequent the library are decent and respectful.
