I usually visit the Temecula Library on Pauba, but was near the mall today and decided to give the Mellman Library a try. The remodel is REALLY nice. It's compact but there are some nice areas to sit, relax, read, compute. FREE wi-fi. Very clean. Staff is very friendly. It's in the local government complex North of the mall. The day I was here, there was a rather interesting crowd. It's next door to the probation office, mental health, and a clinic. It was a little loud at times with random people singing (Scooby Doo theme!?!?!?) Anyway, I'd come back if I was down that way.

If you want quietness and less ppl..come here rather than the other Temecula library. Great experience here for studying!

Two years ago I found a truffle growing between the sidewalk and the grass. On Ynez road close to the empty field across the street.

The catalog search is sloooooooooooow. Selection is good for a small library. The bookstore is VERY well stocked!

They remodeled the reference desk and moved it to a different spot. It looks so modern now! I think the rest of the project was behind the scenes because everything else looks the same. I spent many hours observing the patrons and employees, as well as wandering the facility, and these are the results. First, the location is excellent. Not far from the municipal buildings, fairly close to the 91 Freeway, and on the lower edge of the sloping foothills that makes Corona one of the least efficient cities to travel around. Fortunately, the library doesn't share that flaw. Inside is a long hallway lined with the circulation desk and many displays of artwork and Lego models. These are rotating decor, but it's fun to watch kids casting votes for the best item. Another grand hallway joins perpendicular to the main one and this leads to the extensive children's section, and also has passport services and a sizeable Friends of the Library bookstore (separate review for that). Computers, conference rooms, instructional classrooms, and study rooms are available. A couple other favorite areas Include the large boardgame section and Teens area with its impressive selection of Manga anime and studyhall. Even if the same bad middleschool kids got kicked out almost daily for being loud and obnoxious, it was entertaining. A co-worker commented one day after the second or third incident: "There's the instigator, the girl with the red sneakers." Good times. On a personal note, it's nice seeing that some kids still read and enjoy visiting the local library.

The Library makes it very easy to get a library card. You just have to answer some questions, and fill out a few lines on a form and then you have your card. The library has books, movies, magazines, to borrow and there are computers to use and other ways to enjoy media. There is also a puzzle exchange, bring in your old puzzles and take some that are there. There were some conference rooms, looks like they are for meetings or trainings. There was some sort of training room upstairs, looks like they teach people on various topics. The computers to look up books make it very easy to see if they are in stock, if they are reserved, etc. Take down the info where they are located and do a little scavenger hunt to find your item. If you get what you need, you head down to self checkout, scan your library card, put in a pin #, insert the book and the scanner does the rest. You get the book for 3 weeks and can renew that 2 more times if no one has reserved it. There is also a cafe there and I believe a place to watch movies or performances that they have there from time to time. And you can drop off your ballot there too. Pictures attached.
