He sought clarification, but instead of receiving help, he was met with sarcastic remarks from the Nizam Kazi, dismissing his mistake rather than offering guidance. I'm a returning student asking for help getting my old student account reactivated and I cannot say enough how disgusting I felt being pushed into circles between their technical support and their enrollment services department. I literally been transferred back and forth between the two departments and I am quite confused how heavy the volume of calls would be that they cannot answer any calls after 2PM when their work hours is 7-5PM. It destroyed any motivation to return to this college after being treated so horribly. I am currently a student in this school and I am in my second semester as a freshman. So far, I like it hear. The place is clam, clean, smoke free, and kind. The librarians are kind and helpful. The professors are kind and hard-working. Students keep to themselves aside from the obvious friends/friend group(s). Still, they aren't crazy and it's still a calming place to be. At the moment there is construction going on and you don't even hear it in the classrooms. It's pretty nice hear. read more

This happened to me a while ago but still bugs me to this day it makes me feel stupid sometimes like I'm not capable of doing things so I tried to go to school here but before your allowed to sign up for classes they put you in a room full of computers to take a test I leave and a couple days later the college disability counselor was like you can't take child development classes because your test scores were low and you have to take other classes it bugs me because now I have to work in retail and I wanted to work with kids to make more money but it made me depressed very bad and the sign up classes are impossible it's the disability counselor I'm upset with I'm sure everyone else is fine read more

So far all of my professors have been great. I gave two stars because the COUNSELORS are literally incompetent. If you are looking for help on anything to do with your education plan and graduating on time this is notttt the place to go. I've talked to three counselors so far and they all told me completely different things about which classes I need to take, it seems each counselor added two more classes I need in order to finish. No one knows what they're doing and they're soooo rude. They seem like they don't even want to help you at all. I don't understand why they chose this job in the first place. So frustrating! And don't bother trying to talk to the Dean of Student Counseling about what the moronic counselors are doing, he doesn't talk to students!! He's too good for that apparently. His secretary made that very clear and said I can only talk to a supervisor. This is a pretty dope community college. It seems the people who diss MSJC were people who attended a long time ago (before the building spree), or transplants from San Diego with a superiority complex. Used to be quite generic in appearance, but in recent years MSJC has been on a massive building spree on their Menifee campus and some big - and very cool-looking - modern buildings have gone up. Just wish they had better athletic facilities and sports courses, like they got at the San Jacinto campus. read more

When told the president of the school and the dean of the department no action was taken against the professor. This college has definitely served its purpose well for 3 of our family members! Our only frustration was a lengthy wait for an extremely deserving young relative's financial aid process. I am only writing this review to say T H A N K Y O U to an MSJC employee by the name of DIANA C. (her emails say "Veterans Resource Specialist"). I believe she is located at main MSJC campus...but the point is-----THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL HUMAN BEING. It is easy (for most people) to be nice when things run smoothly, but this person communicated with us through some VERY TOUGH moments and always remained positive, kind, thoughtful, professional, and PATIENT, and did everything she said she would do. She recognized our frustrations yet also represented MSJC professionally. Most of the time I can't even get an MSJC Menifee employee to answer a phone (a management issue?) but whoever hired/trained Diana C.....kudos! and I sure hope someone passes this on to her boss! read more

The curriculum in this damn college is by far the most crappiest thing that college has. I really hate on how this treat it's student, and I was one of their victim. Literally, I have reason for why I want leave this college. First reason, is that they never helped in anything that I needed helped like fixing my financial aid/Fasfa issues, they never helped on how to register for the year, and the DSPS services are the worst and is waste of time. They literally took away 4 classes that I have chosen and payed for, and they took them down on my 4 week of classes, like what the hell. DSPS is another problem especially in the Menifee campus because that lady at the front desk does not now how to do her job. The first time I went there I has waste my class time just to go to the doctor just to sign the medical and be told that I can't see the counselor because the year is about to end, and the second time I joined lady said to fill out everything and doctors form, my doctor didn't find anything to sign, and as soon as I turn in the signature form, I get the medical form. And when they do choose to help, they never help you right. They will only what they want to say, so they can get rid of your ass quickly. Like if they never cared about and was only there for your money. The only why I put 2 stars is because the environment of this school is peaceful. I've had bad experiences with other colleges before and it took me a few years to be ready to go back to college after rethinking my line of work. I decided on this specific campus because it's so close to my ailing my father, so I can be close by if he needs me. Everything went well, at first. The people are friendly and helpful and I was super excited to start classes. I bombed the assessment test for math because I haven't had a math class in over 8 years, but I was able to enroll for other classes. The problem started with summer classes. I enrolled for the summer session, but the only available classes I could find were for math so I couldn't take them as I had to redo the assessment. No big deal, I'll take fall classes, right? Wrong. Apparently if you're enrolled in a semester or session but fail to register for a class, you are penalized and are one of the very very last people to register for classes the following semester, even after the new students. So here I am on my registration day for the fall semester unable to take a single class because literally everything is filled. I've checked all the entry level classes and the only thing I can find available is a French class and a Psychology class, both held at the same time. None of the classes I actually need are available. I won't be able to enroll as a full time student now, so my grant money is significantly less, money I need to survive while going to college. And if I don't enroll in something, I'm slapped with the exact same penalty next semester. This is apparently the only campus anyone wants to go to, despite there being at least two other campuses I know of. I'm stuck going to this one campus now, it's the only one I'm capable of getting to without going out of range of my dad, who has PTSD and a heart condition. And yet I apparently can't get into any of the classes because of that penalty. Best part is? You're told to wait to meet with a counselor until AFTER you've registered for your first semester of classes, so there is literally no one that can or will help me. read more

I really truly hate this college. In all fairness though some of the teachers I had were pretty fantastic and extremely approachable and were great to work with; however the counseling department, which I feel is probably one of the most important department in a JC was a complete and utter flop. The counselors were useless and their secretaries beyond rude. When I was there I had too many problems with counseling to even consider finishing all my classes there. First off as a new student I was forced into a group meeting where the counselors inform you "essential" information, like how to get into your registration date, which they did not go over. The registration date being essential on how to get classes. No one informs you about priority registration dates and how to get them, which is deal for getting all the classes you need, when you're in a school that is so horribly impacted. The next problem with the group meeting is you only get so much time with the counselor to carve out a path. , because they need to cater to everyone in the group, that's about 30. Ideally, you try to make a another meeting date but the secretaries were beyond rude and went on about how I was not "enough" of student and could not schedule appointments yet, which is always nice when you want to make sure the classes your taking are the ones you need, in addition to getting information about other programs on campus. When I was finally "enough" of a student getting a date to meet with them that may possibly fit in a busy schedule was almost impossible. One time after I had a meeting planned for a month, the department cancelled on me, without even informing me with a call, which I think any person would find to be extremely unprofessional, especially considering I am bringing money to this school in the hopes they aide me to get out of there. While in the meeting with the counselors, all they continuously did was plant doubt in any goal I decided I wanted to try and accomplish there. My counselor could never remember my name, which would be forgivable, if it weren't for the fact it's right there on their paper, not to mention even when you I went to the other campus, hoping the other counselors would hae been better to have a meeting with they turned out to be as equally bad. I'd say go here if you have the time to pick up extra classes and it's close to home, but if you want to get out of the System and get guided, go to Palomar. There's no competition. The school's older and has it's system established in a much better way. Plus it's a little easier to get classes there than this poor excuse for a college. read more

I was going to come to this school but it just seems like they are really just in the business of making money. I had taken a few classes already at another community college..... I was transferring over here to continue my education but they didn't want to accept a lot of the credits.... It's a community college, and I'm coming from a California community college, what the hell is so different? My other school accepted it from my out of state school.... I don't see the difference but they wanted me to repeat 3 English classes and set me back on my goals to finish school... Hell to the no! I've never attended a class at a community college. I used to think that people who went there weren't intelligent or mature enough to handle the rigors of a 4-year university. Thankfully, with age came wisdom, and I no longer hold those immature views. I already "own" a degree, but I am a lover of learning. So why not take advantage of the ridiculous per-credit prices offered at California community colleges? I'm currently taking 2 business courses this semester with the hopes of earning a degree in either Accounting or Business Admin/Mgmt. Once I earn a degree I'll have to re-assess my life and decide whether or not an MBA is feasible. The campus is a mix of old and new. There are still portables sprinkled here and there but there are also newer and more tech-advanced buildings too. The Temecula campus needs some work though, at this point its completely a "no frills" environment. Not very conducive to learning. Some new clocks and working thermostats would be excellent! So what inspired me to go to a community college? Would you believe a tv show? I'm serious. And so far, I'm enjoying my experience. I'm glad I was influenced into this decision. The school is ok. Just make sure to check with your counselor on occasion to make sure your on the right path to transfer to where you want to go. They have 2 paths... UC path and Cal State path. Both are a little bit different. Make sure to take the correct classes or else the credits aren't transferable. Classes seem to be impacted, so make sure to sign up early enough to get a seat. This campus is really nice compared to the others (especially Hemet, considering it's older). The science department has excellent lab equipment and everything is much newer and more up to date. The SJ campus is stuck with the older equipment, but they make do. The campus is clean and has plenty of places to sit down and eat lunch or just wait for your next class. The library is huge! I love it! The bottom floor is where the LRC is. The upstairs takes you into the library. It is organized really well. The computers are in the center, resource desk to the left, checkout and copy room to the right. There are also long tables and outlets for your own computer usage! The conference room is also nice for group study time! The staff is friendly and helpful! No cranky librarians here! Thank goodness. read more

Don't be fooled by the fact that the buildings look like grain silos...I had a great time going to school there. I made a lot of good friends...more friends than I've made during my later educational endeavors for sure! If you're a tech person you should take advantage of this school. You won't find a better MCSE program...especially for the price! You can also learn GIS and there are some good basic (pun intended) programming classes. I originally posted a three star review explaining that you get what you put into college and that MSJC wasn't so bad. However, I am updating this review to give an example of how incompetent MSJC truly is. As a community college student who intends to transfer to a four year university, part of that process is ensuring you complete all of your major preparation courses prior to transfer, else you will be denied admission. I am a psychology major, and one of the very vital classes required for any social science major is taking a course called "Social Research Methodology" so that I and other social science majors may transfer. Let me emphasize that this is a class you take during your last semester of community college, typically the semester right before you transfer. Well two weeks before spring 2017 was supposed to start, MSJC decided to withdraw the course without notifying any of their students who planned to enroll in it. The ONLY reason why I found out was because my biopsychology professor contacted me and informed me they cancelled the class. This course was even in the catalog and everything. MSJC's reason for cancelling the class? They incorrectly designed the class and was supposed to have a lab component....so students who already took the course previously had transferred and their respective universities told them they had to retake the Social Research Methodology class because it lacked a lab component at MSJC. MSJC told all of it's psychology major students that if they still wanted their A.A. in Psychology, they would have to find some way to enroll at another school and take the class their. They said "too bad, you need to take it anyway" Needless to say, countless students were not fortunate enough to get into RCC or any other neighboring colleges and get into the course as it was already filled up and the waitlist was even full. All of these students then had to report to their schools that they applied to and tell them they do not intend to take the class until after transfer. Because of their inabvility to get into the course, I have countless friends who were DENIED from their universities because they were missing this class. They were DENIED a transfer institution because WHOEVER DESIGNED THIS CLASS WAS INCOMPETENT, REALIZED THE CLASS WAS DESIGNED INCORRECTLY, AND WITHDREW IT FROM RIGHT OUT UNDER OUR NOSES LAST MINUTE. I, thankfully, was fortunate enough to weazle my way into Norco College and take the course; however, if I had not gotten into this class, I wouild have been denied by every single school I applied to for the Fall of 2017. Countless students are now stuck and are now a semester behind because their plans to take the class at MSJC were completely foiled, and no one is to blame but the school and the people who are responsible for creating this class. I am surprised you cannot sue for this. Anyone who majored in sociology, communications, psychology, even business are now left stagnant in their education until MSJC brings this class back, or until they can find their way into another school where they are not afforded priority registration and may never get in. My advice to anyone who attends this college is please have a backup plan and don't be surprised if they fuck things up for you. The only thing great about this college are the professors. They will lose your paperwork requiring you to have to waste time going back to submit your paperwork again. This is not a good start to getting back into school. I've been going to this school for 2 weeks and I like it so far. I like all my teachers and since dancing is my passion, the dance program seems like fun. Very genuine people in all my classes, instructors included. Let me give you a bit of back ground. I moved to California from Arizona at the beginning of summer. About a week after being here, I went to a summer session at the University of Oregon to study architecture. Busy summer, yes, but trying to maximize my college experience. Anyways, I got back to California a week before classes started at MSJC. I tried to get registered before I left for Oregon, but they weren't registering for classes at the time and said I wasn't able to schedule a counseling appointment unless it was a same day appointment. You'd think that since I'm coming from out of state and all that they would be more understanding, but nope. So I moved back to California on Sunday, that next Monday (the week before school began) and I called at 8:02 (the office opened at 8:00) to make an appointment with a counselor. After going through a very confusing automated messaging system, pressing random numbers, getting the wrong line and having to be transferred a few times (seriously a 10 minute ordeal...) I got through to someone at the counseling office who told me they had no appointments left for that day. She said "we're full today, come in person tomorrow, line starts at 7am. We open at 8am. Have a nice day" and hung up. So of course, I'm desperate so I go at 6:45 to this place and there's already about 15 people in front of me. So I wait in line until about 7:45 when the counselors start walking in to the office. I asked one of them if I needed to meet with a counselor before taking a placement test because one counselor told me to meet with someone before the placement test when I had previously emailed before I went to Oregon. This lady said to take my placement test and giggled because I even came and waited in this line for an hour because when I walked over to take my placement test, I was the only one there. Also, the counselor who told me all this said that she'd save me a slot in the counseling session because I waited in line all morning. So I take my placement test, which took a couple hours and they tell me to go back to the counseling office. At this point, I've been here for over 3 hours. So I go and wait for a counselor to talk to me and they say I need to go to enrollment and speak with them. So I wait in that line, I get through to them and they say I need to do an online orientation and speak with a counselor first. So I go back to the counselor and tell her I need s group counseling session (required for new students). The lady then tells me sorry, we don't have any openings, you can come back tomorrow. So I start arguing with this lady and secure a spot in a group that same day.... At 5pm. So I go home, do the online orientation and return at 5pm. This session was horrible. My mom and I kept a tally on how many rude things this lady said. She was so extremely condescending, rude, and mean to everyone in the room. Out of all 3 counselors in the room, all of them were contradicting each other, making comments like "oh you made it into this math class? That's okay. We aren't ALL good at math." She said rude comments specifically directed towards people who simply asked a question. In addition, since I'm coming from out of state and plan to transfer out of state (University of Oregon) I asked several questions about in state tuition and what track to take since the only track options are geared for California schools. So I ask what to do if I want to transfer to an out of state university and the counselor had the audacity to say "well you'd have to be accepted first, that's the first step. We'll go over all that when that happens" after she had already made several comments (approximately 35-40 according to my tally) about how we are basically too stupid for a university but smart enough to continue education. So I counter that extremely rude statement by saying, "I was already accepted to 6 out of state schools so my options are quite open, also, I just got back from studying architecture at university of Oregon, one of the top 3 architecture schools in the country. So I think I got that covered, which track do I need to follow?" She stopped directing her comments at me specifically but continued with everyone else. Also, all 3 counselors said they couldn't help me with in state tuition which is only $46 per unit as supposed to out is state which is $257 per unit. They tell me to go back to enrollment so I go to enrollment again to ask them and this lady starts yelling at my mom. Seriously yelling. At this point my mom and I left and tried to get classes somewhere else but this was our only option. Luckily the teachers are nice, I haven't learned much but they're nice at least. The staff in the Nursing Department are so nice!!! I have ONE complaint. When my friend came to this place to fill out some paperwork, there was a woman who handled his paperwork. My friend is an illegal immigrant BUT that does not mean they deserve disrespect. The woman doing his paperwork disrespected him in front of his family and in front of other students. A few years ago I went to try and come to this college, the front person in admin was rude, negative and looked unhappy to be there telling me I couldn't register (in a careless way). I called again twice a couple days ago and the person who answered the phone sounded flat as well as the counselor on the phone. I went to Palomar 2 years after high school. I really loved it, but it was just too far from where I lived to drive there nearly everyday. ( I live nearby MSJC Menifee Valley Campus) Now I have been going to MSJC for almost a year and I have accomplished nearly nothing thanks to the lack of classes and overflow of students. I was able to compare the difference between the two schools, and I definitely like Palomar better. Buuuttt, here are the pros and cons to MSJC Menifee Valley. PROS: -I really appreciate how nice many of the financial aid ladies are, as well as some of the other staff members. -The campus itself is not that big, and all the classrooms are easy to find. -The campus is nice, clean and newly renovated. -I've had very caring and nice teachers. -The library is awesome! -One of the librarians always go above and beyond to help! She has short hair and she sits at the curriculm desk. (The other librarian with long gray hair unfortunately I can NOT say the same about.) CONS: -IMPACTED IMPACTED IMPACTED! There are too many students here and this school caters to the wrong ones. -Campus police here are assholes.. as most low-budget-wannabe-real-cops are. (not my experience at Palomar though) -Cashier office lady is a complete ass. -There are sooo many "priveleged" students here that get extremely early registration dates, that leaves the rest of the students with shitty classes/teachers. -The counselling office never returns calls, and I'm pretty sure they dont give a damn about you graduating. They told me I can only take a Bio100 class and they dont even offer it there! Some of my credits werent transferrable and they didnt even let me know, I had to find out myself the hard way.. and when I did try getting it straightened out they never returned my call and I had to wait 2 weeks to get a counselling appointment to pretty much just ask what classes werent transferable so I could take them this semester... but by the time I talked to them the semester had already started and I couldnt get the class. -The teachers I have had are great, but the school staff is lacking passion, in my opinion, they just do the bare minimum of their jobs. -I am understanding and grateful for programs that pay for college if you cant; however, I dont understand why these students get such priveleged registration dates as well. I am working fulltime to pay for college, and a straight A student aspiring to go to USC, yet I get last pick of classes becuase I work to pay for my education as many others do?... I dont believe thats fair (neither do many other MSJC students), If your getting a college education free why do have superiority to other students that can afford it? The worst college I have ever attended. They take forever to process anything. The financial aid alone takes 6 weeks to process documents. I had to turn in some documents and they took over 6 weeks to let me know that one of my papers was missing contact information and then after I turned it back in. They told me it was going to take another 6 weeks for them to review the documents again. It wasn't until almost the end of the school semester that they approved them. I think this is a crazy amount of time for them to review documents. They end to speed their things up. They are to slow on doing anything. read more

The staff is really helpful and the professors are awesome (Check ratemyprofessors.com, prior to enrolling into a class. Yes, some are bad, but most professors are great). I recommend to get involved and attend the many helpful workshops they offer. Visit the counselors every other semester to ensure you are on the right path as well as doing research on your own to know what you need to transfer and what's right for you. My experience went pretty smooth; was able to register for classes except my FIRST year, but it was fine after that. It did take me 3 years to transfer to UCR, but we can blame the delay on my first year. In every college it will be difficult to obtain classes thanks to budget cuts. It is the same everywhere. If you want a good registration date, be a full time student, don't take useless classes, and avoid failing classes. I was never in DSPS, which by the way get priority registration, but I was always able to get my classes. The campus has really improved and recently opened a new building for the Humanities and Social Sciences. Overall the campus is growing and is beginning to look more like a college campus. Parking is never an issue here if you don't mind a little walking. read more

Horrible receptionists with attitude, messed up on my transcripts twice which delayed my enrollment for another college. If you plan to attend here just know they will give you a hard time with transcripts and horrible service over the phone with none of your questions properly answered. read more

I am not eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony because I missed the deadline on April 30th. Mind you, I had already applied before the deadline was denied and reapplied with the stuff Msjc needed and still denied to walk. I get my diploma and AA BUT cannot participate in ceremony. read more
