My child has witnessed--and unfortunately been affected by--multiple incidents of physical fights on campus, some of which were barely addressed by staff. It's alarming how common these altercations are, and how little follow-up there seems to be. We expected a safe and supportive environment for learning, but instead found ourselves constantly worried about our child's well-being. When we brought up concerns to administration, the response felt dismissive and reactive rather than proactive. This school desperately needs stronger leadership when it comes to campus safety, clear policies around bullying, and more supervision during breaks and passing periods. Students should feel protected and valued, not scared to go to school. If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would.

Sounds like the logistics and some of the personal problems of some of these parents might be causing issues for the school so a little push back is taken as rudeness. I'm reality, they're doing their best to make sure the kids are safe and secure. This is my son's final year at Bella Vista (6th grade was full COVID, distance learning) and he's excelled academically. He went in with straight A's from elementary school, started in advanced classes, and has maintained his excellent grades. The teachers are reasonable and firm with expectations based in realism - face it, they're working with freakin' pre-teens and young teens - terrible job in my opinion but glad they are there doing their best for my son everyday. My daughter will gladly go to Bella Vista after another year of elementary school because big brother has had such a positive experience.

They chose not to be by calling and canceling their mid-review. None of the children have accreditations. If anyone would like more information please let me know. Furthermore, Sherry Marino was instructed by Mical Bell Andrews to not allow my son, that has known health issues, to go to the health room or call home when he was ill. This was brought to my attention by employees and I have declarations from several faculty. My son suffers from chronic stomach issues and was witnessed sitting through his lunch AND recess with his head on the table in pain after being refused to go to the health room. This school is horrible and nobody seems to want to talk about. I will not be quiet about the continued abuse these poor children are experiencing. When I addressed these issues I was met by a noncaring board member named Jennifer Bursch that could care less about the abuse my son had been through. Her emails were cruel and denying without any concern whatsoever for the truth or facts. I am beside myself at the non Christlike actions of this school and their board of directors. As a parent of a student with disabilities, I often felt that my concerns regarding placement, behavioral supports, and disability-related needs were heard but not meaningfully considered during the IEP process. Despite extensive documentation, independent evaluations, and repeated attempts to collaborate with the District, significant disagreements remaine regarding my child's educational placement and support needs. My concerns ultimately resulted in complaints being filed with both the California Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights. The California Department of Education found the District out of compliance in Case No. S-0588-25/26 (see attached), and a federal review remains ongoing under Case No. 09261071. Every family's experience is different, but based on my experience, parents should carefully document communications, communicate through written communication only, and review IEP documents thoroughly. Based on my experience, I do not recommend this district to any special education family.

The 2nd day it happened I called the district and Tom Patain seemed shocked that I would even need to explain myself if I showed it (AGREED!). I then received a call from the principal assuring me it would not happen again and that he spoke to #1 and #2. Come day 3 and Flabio did it again! He was shooing me away and saying "I don't care" when pointing to my placard. I had to call the office who had to call him to tell him to let me in. Now, during all of these interactions, I recorded them all but I did not raise my voice, call names or anything rude at all, just record (them violating civil rights and ada) . Aftwr he let me in and I went to park, he approached me in my car with my child to call me "mean and rude" and that he didn't care he was violating civil rights and didnt care if I sent it to the superintendent. If he doesn't care if he is violating civil rights, what could he be doing to disabled (a protected class) students on campus? So far, no word back from the superintendent but his secretary Amanda did seem concerned.
