I've been to 2 of the Austin area locations including the one on South Austin and the Allendale location. First off these are suites, not actual stand alone establishments.This can be quite confusing as there is no clear signage telling you where to go. Secondly, the company overbooks appointments and will have you waiting an extra "15-20 minutes" after your original booking time. Both times I've arrived, I've gotten a text message 3-5 minutes before my scheduled appointment letting me know they are running behind. This is frustrating when you expect an 20 minute appointment to now turn into a 40-50 minute segment. While other clients might arrive late causing appointments to be pushed back, there definitely should be a window to avoid these instances of customers waiting. read more

So a lot of low reviews seems to come from issues w/ membership. I don't have one of those so I say avoid that if you want a stellar experience. Honestly, in regards to memberships for beauty services I avoid those altogether as I haven't found a single place that does them well. Now on to the review. It's a strange little spot. You'll have to read the signs and follow any directions you get, it's on the second floor, and the entrance to the stairs/elevator is on the side of the building. You'll go into a space that's a bunch of different beauty services in one area. Like there's haircuts at a few stations, waxing/threading etc. My spot was thankfully behind a closed door. Lol. I got a simple bikini wax, tech was running a little late, but they texted me ahead of time. No worries on my end. My tech was Grace/Gracie. She was super efficient and explained her process. I am livid. These people are pushy sales people who do not know what they are doing. On my last visit, I was bruised by the tech (this should not be happening) and when I got home I noticed that almost the entirety of the top half of my kitty cat was still covered in hair. Mind you, it had been 6 weeks since my last sugaring appointment with them & THIS IS A MANAGER. I canceled my next appointment (2 days early) because they clearly aren't taking care with the service & THEY CHARGED MY CARD on file without any authorization & charged me for a full appointment ($58). I also didn't receive a receipt for this charge... just found it via paying attention to my CC charges. They also neglected any follow-up to my comment about the terrible service (though it says they will reach out within 48 hours) and they neglected to reply to texts about the faulty charges. I used to love this place. Gracie was amazing, then she left abruptly for some reason. Laura was great, and now all of a sudden, she's gone too. When I scheduled my last appointment, I let the person on the other end of the text conversation know that I was very hesitant with changing to a new person due to bad previous experiences (at their location) before finding Gracie. They scheduled me with Blythe. When I arrived for my appointment at 10:30am, Blythe seemed very off-put for some reason. Very short and uninviting. People have bad days, and I'm not a huge talker either, so I brushed it off, but it's just the cherry on top of my whole horrible experience. During my Brazilian sugaring, I felt a sharp pain (more sharp, more painful than normal) around my labia minora. Shortly after, I felt a bead of liquid run down. It took a minute for Blythe to notice it, but I felt her wipe it with a piece of gauze. At no point during any of this did she mention that she had gashed me and ripped skin off of the inside of my vagina lips, and that it was now bleeding. Since she didn't say anything and I can't see that area, I assumed maybe it was an ingrown that got pulled out, had a little bead of blood, and that otherwise, things were okay. Blythe continued with the sugaring service, used the sugar around my vagina and then my butt, and then brought that same sugar back up to my vagina for "clean ups" with an open bleeding cut on my vagina. Most women know how unsanitary back-to-front is in general, but now we're talking about cross-contamination to an open wound on a very sensitive area of my body. By the time I had finished with my day and my husband was home, it was 9pm and I had my husband check because I could feel the irritation. My husband's response when he saw it was, "holy shit!" He was livid (as am I) that this person, Blythe, who is trusted (and licensed, I might add) to do these services on women would blatantly ignore this injury she caused to me. I'm sure it was an accident, but the fact that she sent me on my way without telling me ANYTHING about what happened, to risk infection, baffles me. She should have marks on her license for something like this. Hello Sugar's website states that their values include "radical transparency", "honesty", "trust", "responsibility", "accountability" among others - but apparently they hire staff that do not follow those values. To make things worse, I have been trying to reach someone (anyone) and both texting options, on their website and the number I previously used to schedule, have stopped responding to me. I have been trying to get a response from the manager, Lourdes, since Tuesday night/Wednesday morning (it is Friday afternoon) and have not received a call or an email or anything. This company needs to make amends for this, as their employee physically injured me and has not been held accountable, and essentially put me "out of commission" for my anniversary next week. read more

Horrible customer service from waxing girl Tori. Was a member for months, receiving multiple high dollar services. I had an appointment scheduled for weeks ahead of time and then was refused service from Tori for any waxing/sugaring due to acne medication I was using. I tried to give my consent for my service anyway, letting her know I had received services in the past with this medication, no problem. She denied me anyway, and kept rudely telling me what a high quality waxer she was. All the while she had a crime podcast going, very unprofessional vibe. I cancelled my membership and recommend you go anywhere else, where they take appointments and your time seriously. read more

Well after multiple text messages saying if I cancelled without a 12 hour notification I would be charged $10 extra. My appointment was for 4:10 and I get a text from them at 1:35 saying that they had to cancel. No I am sorry and then how would I like to reschedule option 1 they can give me sometimes or option to the can text me the link for me to reschedule. No phone call just text. I waited over 40 minutes to be seen because the client before me added on services. Thankfully I didn't have anywhere else to be. The esthetician was nice however she told me I had a reaction to the wax only in one specific area. Later it turned out to be bruising from poor technique. Kinda hard to find salon but 10/10 experience. It was my first time so I was a bit nervous but my waxer was super nice and assuring.

I found their free bikini wax promo on Instagram and booked immediately. I'm still new to waxing and tried sugaring and had my underarms done for the first time. I have been a repeat customer love V who has been waxing me. I signed up for a membership when they first opened in Austin. I was supposed to have an appointment next week but received a call from out of state. She said that since my appointment was going to be longer than 60 mins. I needed to pay a deposit. I asked why now when I have never had to pay one before since I pay for a membership. She said that my membership had been canceled so I needed to pay a deposit or they would cancel my appointment. I asked who canceled the membership because it was not me and she had no answer. I told her I was not giving my credit card over the phone. A little while later I received an email that said my appointment was canceled. I will not use them again. read more

I really tried giving this place a shot... today I had my third visit and I'm finally over it. I'm giving two stars simply because the girls are always nice, but the service is not good. My first visit was a Brazilian sugar; it left me *deeply* bruised for 11 days, and it was much more painful than I'd expected. The pain made more sense when I realized she hadn't prepped my skin whatsoever. On top of that, she left me COVERED in the sugar, even in places I hadn't had treated (down my legs, even on my arm). I thought I'd try regular waxing for my next visit, because I'd done that years ago and didn't remember it being as painful. Better experience, but not as thorough as I felt it should've been for the price, so I bit the bullet and went back to sugaring. My third appointment, another Brazilian, ended with the tech saying, "well, I didn't get all of it, but I at least got your bikini line!" Reader, she did not even get my bikini line. I have never had such inconsistent results from a salon, and on top of all of this, they push the absolute crap out of their membership. I'm never coming back here, and would caution anyone else wanting to try it for themselves. read more
