Trinity, spinach artichoke and classic cheese are my regular jam. There are only 4 places I like pizza by the slice. One is in Penn station New York, another in Jersey City, and this is one of two here in MN. So, it's great for what it is. That said, order fresh when possible. Ordered a spinach artichoke the other week and they made it a little thinner than usual, which improved it and made it one of the best pizzas I've ever had. And I'm a connoisseur. Despite only six choices, everyone will find something to their liking from straightforward cheese or pepperoni to the more interesting special (which included rapini on my recent visit). Local draft beers and superior soft serve ice-cream are a nice touch. But it is the Korean Cowboy sub that will make me come back many times. Great new pizza shop! When you go you need to order an entire whole pizza because they will make it fresh and hot out of the oven for you. If you order pizza by the slice they reheat a slice of pizza that has been sitting around forever and it isn't that tasty compared to the fresh whole pizza. Took my son and a few of his buddies to Hello Pizza yesterday after their game and we had a such a good time. The food was so great and Tyler and his friends told me they wanted to go back today. We got pizza by the slice and some sodas. They had birtch beer! So good. We never had it before and I gotta say that it's better than root beer. The music was fun. The kids were dancing (and showing off for some ladies) to the music. The music was some motown stuff from my childhood. Really brought me back. I'd recommend the hello trinity slice. It's got sausage, pep and mushrooms. So good with the birtch beer, I'm telling you! We will be back soon. Cool place. Great food and music. Great for kids. read more

Disappointing maddening changes at Hello Pizza. We go there often, for a few reasons. It's good, & we can each get what we like. That's the magic. NO MORE. New- Only 5 pizzas by the slice (2 meat, 2 cheese, 1 special) If you don't like plain cheese or the doughy plain Sicilian & you are a veg, you are Out. Of. Luck. If you want the Hello Rita, simple basic fresh mozzarella basil & tomato, you are OUT OF LUCK. You can gaze thru the glass at a 18" Hello Rita, but you can't have any. 12" or 18" whole pie ONLY. Others have said it and it's true ... this isn't New York-style pizza. More like Williamsburg (and yes, as I ate at the counter, a family with a double-wide stroller and organic juice pulled up.) I ordered the Rita and the Veggie Supremo. The Rita was okay (fresh but a little meh), the Veggie Supremo more sinful with the gooey choose and packed on toppings. I agree with S.W.'s comment, that the problem, weirdly enough, is that the pizza isn't "bad" enough. Meaning, that the pizza is trying to be down-market in a safe way. It's tasty (though not as delectable as Lola) but not greasy enough. The crust is a reliable delivery system for everything else, but it needs more oil and waayyy more salt. The sauce/toppings, too, need to slide around a bit more. More oil? A less healthy cheese? I also don't get the display pizzas. They look so sad, sitting there and destined to be un-consumed. Besides, the joy of the slice shop is sliding in there just in time to snag the last two slices of your favorite pie. Again, this is safe. But the inside is cheery, I love the counter-seating, the decor, and the non-descript intersection location -- all as a slice shop should have! Just bring on some more grease!! read more

I have tried several cheese pizza slices in the TC based on Yelp reviews saying that they reminded them of New York pizza. I haven't agreed until I tried a slice of Hello Pizza today. I can't say that it tastes just like NYC pizza but it certainly is so close that I will be back again and again. The crust is amazing - crispy yet chewy! It is perfect. The sauce is seasoned perfectly and you can fold the slice and pick it up and eat it. I did not like the interior of the restaurant. I walked into Hello Pizza on the last day of August. I figured - what better way to end the summer than to try out the new pizza place that opened just down the street from where I grew up. The menu is straightforward, you have your choice of pizza by the slice, whole pies, or a meatball sub if you want something different. The by-the-slice options they have are great. I started with a slice of "Hello Trinity" and finished with a slice of the "Sicilian." The trinity is great for meatlovers - pepporoni, spicy sausage and mushrooms. Sicilian was also excelent, the tomato and cheese fit perfectly with the crunchy crust. I was hoping for a larger selection in the types of single slices available, but their whole pie menu is more robust. Altogether a great place to have a slice. They have Harriet, Bells, Great Lakes, and Fulton on tap... not a bar, but a great family outing or casual eating with some friends. Service was fast, check these guys out! read more

This places is delicious! Simple menu and fun atmosphere. My husband and I took our son here for his first bday dinner. It was great that even for dinner we could buy by the slice, enjoy a beer on top then take some pics in the photo booth to remember our sons bday dinner and capture the great time we had. It's ok medium of the road for what you pay for toppings. The pepperoni was good but the sausage and onions was very lacking in my book sauce was ok but could of had a little spices. The crust was a minute under cook or more depending on how hot their oven is. Most good pizza over crank at around 600 or higher. The cheese didn't have that nice brownie spots. First off, the pizza was great! I am rating three stars because I ordered cheese pizza by the slice and it took 40 minutes! At Green Mill it takes less than 10. My husband got his pizza 15 minutes before mine so he was finished by the time mine arrived and we had to watch each other eat. Didn't get an apology or explanation by the staff when I inquired about our pizza. They may have been having an off night. I've tried so many different pizzerias in the twin cities without much luck, my search is over. Bottom line, perfect dough, great cheese, tasty sauce, and quality toppings all make for a top notch pizza. I tried it for the first time Wednesday (pep, mush) and tried it again the following Saturday (sicilian), both were awesome and baked to perfection. Pro tip: call them to place your order, show up 5 minutes before they tell you it will be ready. Check out the atmosphere. If it's too bright, too noisy, too quiet, too whatever, go home with your order. If you like the atmosphere, have a seat, I'm sure they won't mind. I prefer to take mine home. Food:Loved Pizza Lola and now love Hello Pizza. Two different atmosphere and pizzas. We ordered: HELLO TRINITY, ARTICHOKE & SPINACH, and KOREAN COWBOY. Hello Trinity was tastier than it looked. Just the right amount of sauce and meat on the flat dough. The cheese was gooey and hot fresh out of the oven. Artichoke & Spinach was a bit sour/tart due to the artichoke. Can't remember much about that pizza. The best eat was the Korean Cowboy meatball sub. The meatballs were an explosion of flavor and very tasty. The crispy bun and pickled onion and carrots were a plus. Service: We visited on a Tuesday 6:30pm and it was empty. Right after we ordered a crowd came in and out for take out and few dined in. The customer service was good, fast + they cleaned up after you right away. Ambiance: Casual, low key music, simple daisy floral decor in vases, old skool chairs, white picnic plates. This is some quality pizza. I couldn't pass up the special which was spinach & artichoke with a white sauce. I splurged for the $4.50 slice, but if I was hungrier two slices would have cost me a whopping $9. Remember: " thin crust" means less calories/less filling even if it is a wide slice. I can't speak to the authenticity, but they do state on their site that it's "inspired" by the NYC style rather than claiming to be a NYC pizza joint plopped down on the Mpls-Edina border. I do know that my taste buds were happy, but next time I'll probably have more of an appetite and go for a simpler, cheaper slice of pie so that I'm out just $6 and some change for a couple slices to form a pizza sandwich and stuff my face. read more

I've been here a few times. It's a decent pie, which can be hard to dig up in MN unless you're dealing with the artisan/craft mentality. This has a veneer of that. It has the NYC transit stuff on the walls, and the crew has that bike shop vibe. No one is about to toss the dough. But the basic recipe for sauce and dough is on the money. I judge any pizza place by the humble cheese pizza, and theirs can go toe to toe with a lot of tri-state area corner shops. Haven't tried the meatball sub - I'll leave the Korean cowboy for the food truck crowd - but I'm imagining it's a decent sub. If your standard is Papa Johns this might go over your head, but if you like a real pizza the way they make it from ME to FL, try this place. read more

Closest thing I have found to NY pizza in the twin cities. Prices are a bit higher than I would expect but the pizza is great.

I opted for the featured special - Sausage and Peppers pizza by the slice. I decided to go for one slice - it was $4.50. I was hoping to add a salad but didn't want to spend more than $10 for lunch and those were all $7.50. The pizza was great and I loved everything about it, but it was just a bit too small. On the other hand I think two slices would have been too much. Same thing with the salads - some of my table mates did order a salad, but they were too big for a side salad but not enough for an entree. The dining area was very small and I would definitely recommend getting there early so your whole group can sit together! read more
