    Smashed to the true definition.

There's a smash burger, then there's a SMASHED burger. Soggy, soaked, as yucky as it appears. Take some pride in your burger building, folks.

I think this is such a great place for a quick grab and go salad. It has saved me on several occasions... That being said, I find it really unpleasant to repeatedly find hair in my food. This is now the second time I've found short black hairs (yes multiple) in my salads. The first time it happened I thought it was a fluke, this time I'm not super happy.

I would honestly give this place a 4/5, but the French fries alone deserve a solid 5. These were probably the best French fries I've ever had. They're perfectly crispy and perfectly salted. I loved all of the options for the salad, and my mom really enjoyed her burger! Service was very nice, and the seating areas were clean. It's a simple place, a bit expensive, but very nice for a quick lunch

Gave this place another shot. Jokes on me. Salad and grain bowl were good....but missing a paid for item. Left a comment on their website but then discovered something else!! This giant hair in our order!!! Definitely can't eat here anymore. Unsanitary practices

The menu, quality and value across this chain is very impressive! Usually one new (temporary) salad and sandwich creation in addition to a wide variety of interesting salad combos and sandwiches. Ample servings of the food and for maybe an average price of $9 for salads (easily enough for leftovers). Only personal peeve is the use of Iceberg lettuce in their mixed greens, but you can always request the spinach/kale mix instead if you wish. The call-in and online order processes are efficient and especially convenient at this time.

As someone who enjoyed Hello Bistro when it first opened in Oakland, I'm very happy that there's one in the South Hills. Hello Bistro is a local chain owned by the Eat'n Park Hospitality Group, and they specialize in serving up two things: burgers and salads. While I do like their burgers and fries (which are 100% YUM), 9 times out of 10, I order soup and salad at Hello Bistro. The soups are the same soups you know and love from Eat'n Park, so I always need a cup of that fantastic chicken noodle soup! As for the salad: there's an option to build your own salad or to order off of a small pre-set menu, and I've used both options multiple times. It's a simple process and the result is always tasty. My orders are almost always ready on time as well, with one memorable exception (and they were obviously handling a large influx of orders based on the number of items being brought out before mine). I admit that a bummer about Hello Bistro is that everything is served in a plastic bowl and a brown bag. Yeah, the salads are huge so I usually end up having leftovers - and yeah, in 2020, takeout is the only way I'm eating any meals made outside of my home. Still, with our plastic pollution issue growing and growing, it would be nice for an alternative sort of packaging to be utilized by all of the locations. That said, good prices, good portions, and good flavors mean that I'm a fan overall. I'll definitely continue to eat here.

We didn't, but somehow got lucky snagging seats at the bar... which honestly turned out to be a perfect spot to eat too! The beet salad was SO good I could've easily ordered a second without hesitation. I had a self-proclaimed Reuben connoisseur with me, and he declared it the best Reuben he's ever had (second only to his own, of course ). It's not your typical version either--no standard Thousand Island overload. The corned beef was perfectly peppered and packed with flavor, and even the bread stood out. Fish tacos? Absolutely a yes. Fresh, flavorful, and just done right. We split sides--tater tots for one dish and the homemade chips for the other. Always go for the homemade chips here. WOW! They had this subtle sweetness that made them seriously addictive. Friendly service, great atmosphere, and food that lives up to the hype. Totally worth it! One quick heads up: there's a 3% fee if you use a credit card, so plan accordingly.

Our first time here and we loved the room upstairs. Very cozy and intimate. Hardly anyone was there at 7:00 pm on a weekday. Everything went well except the food took forever to arrive. We waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive, and we couldn't understand because there was hardly anyone in the dining room. (Two other tables and one group had already eaten.) The hamburger was fine when we finally got it. The homemade pickles were the best. My husband loved the salsa. One thing I wish we were told is that there is a surcharge to use a credit card and there was a charge for the salsa. Both those things were a surprise. I love how this place has history. The grandmother owned the Ritz Hotel in Bridgeville and her 7 Up sign from the hotel graces the walls. All the old black and white Heidelberg photos are fun to see. Even though we were disappointed in the slow delivery of our meal, we may give it another try due to the server and the community feel to the place.

Most bowls are rice, greens, and/or beans based with various vegetables for toppings. Heartier than a salad but healthier than Chipotle. I've gotten lunch there a few times and have always been satisfied. My favorite bowl is El Jefe, which comes with rice, kale, black beans, corn, red onion, avocado, and a protein topping (I like the miso tofu but you can also get chicken). The bowl also comes with cilantro/lime sauce, which I do not get because it's very salty. That's my one complaint about Roots - despite their healthy ingredients, their bowls can get quite saucy and salty if you go with the default options. This particular location is well-staffed, so service is usually quick, but it can get a rush of students around 12pm.

The bowl was good but I was a little disappointed in the portion. Roots is a little bit more expensive than other similar options but I usually don't mind as they often give me a very full bowl, but that wasn't the case with the Gary bowl. It was less full than the bowls I usually get along with being very heavy on the rice and not too much chicken or even the kale. Aside from that it was still yummy but I think I'll be going back to my regular order next time.

Their menu is extensive and for me specifically it is the most amazing joy to have vegetarian option after option when so many other places are limited for me. I have made a meal out of the vegetarian combo platter before, which is an appetizer platter perfect for splitting between two people. Tonight we did exactly that and everything is evenly portioned for two which is so nice, nobody getting more of one thing than another. It has grape leaves, baba ghanoush, hummus, falafel and tabouli. Perfect combo of flavors and comes with pita for dipping or piling it all on. Our absolutely lovely server also offered some hot sauce which seemed to be homemade and, although I am not a big hot anything person, smelled delicious. Along with other platters, rolled pitas and salads, they have a long list of pita pizzas which I had never previously tried so we decided to go with one of those to split. We got one with garlic butter, roasted spinach, banana peppers, tomatoes and feta and it was a very good choice. The pita itself had a somewhat smoky flavor from the char and I liked how that was thin and kept the focus on the plentiful toppings. They also have some fantastic desserts here. Just look at the case and you will be convinced. There were a couple of chocolate cakes that looked delicious but we went for the carrot cake and it was fantastic with visible pieces of carrot and walnuts. We were very full and thinking about skipping dessert but splitting this was worth it. There is ample inside seating, just a simple no-frills environment but comfortable, and during the summer they set up a few tables outside on Washington Road which I have enjoyed eating at before. Overall this is an extremely solid Mediterranean spot, and I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered here. Pro tip: if you can't find a spot at the meters on Washington or the nearby side streets, the public parking garage across the street isn't as expensive as you would think, about $2.50 for up to two hours and a flat rate of $2 evenings after 6 p.m.
