My daughter devoured her eggs, seasoned potatoes (I was fighting her for them-- rosemary potatoes were amazing!), and her toast. I ate the Portabella Mushroom Ravioli (4.5 stars). Several large raviolis contained mushrooms and were covered in tomatoes, basil, and a rich parmesan sauce. My husband ate the Chicken Parmesan (4.5 stars). Two large pieces of chicken were covered in a crispy breading, marinara, and three cheeses. On the side was an arugula salad. It was a generous serving size, so he had leftovers to eat at home later. At the end of the meal, our waitress gave us two free mint chocolates. This restaurant (1 of 2 in the mall) is an oasis in the chaos of Christmas shoppers. Although the music was a little loud, it didn't interfere with conversations. Very single person friendly. There is an entire section for single customers. Lobster bisque was new to the menu for me. Unless you make the lobster bisque yourself, everyone wants more lobster. I got a quart to go. I made reservations as the restaurant had a 45-minute wait during peak lunch in late December. My dining companion loved the French Dip and will very likely be a returning diner. My salmon was not cooked to my preferred doneness. But we waited 30 minutes for our meals so I didn't want to send it back to the kitchen and wait even longer. Our table was a comfortable booth with a view of the parking lot before sitting down. I'll chalk it up to them being very busy that our table wasn't perfectly clean. I have heard mumblings about this place but finally got to try it for lunch with my family today. We had a reservation but when I arrived the hostess let me know that they had a 15 min wait. This was a little frustrating as we had reservation, and even after I clarified that she knew we had reservations we had to wait a bit. She was telling everyone else that walked up the same 15 min delay, and then people who did not have a reservation were getting seated before us 15 minutes after our reservation time. So not sure why you even bother with reservations if that is the case. Overall not a huge deal but I do think folks with reservations should get seated before walk ups. The cafe/restaurant itself is very cozy but upscale. They have a great menu with surprisingly fresh and seasonal ingredients. The food was all delicious. We had the tomato soup (very good), the lobster bisque (not my personal favorite but it wasn't bad), the soup of the day was a turkey chili which was fantastic, the garlic ciabatta (very good) and the cheddar chive biscuit (also very tasty). Our table had a steak salad which was great, the French dip and fries which were also great, the shrimp pomodoro pasta which was not everyones favorite but I thought it was good, and the shrimp arugula salad. The polenta croutons on the shrimp salad were great but overall the salad was under seasoned. We also got a side of truffle fries to try which were great. I would definitely go back and try their risotto dish or one of the pizzas which sounded great. Our server was not bad, friendly but seemed frustrated and annoyed but how busy he was. I've come here many times during my shopping trips, and I am never disappointed. Service is always very kind, the food is wonderful, and (this is something I don't normally care about) the booths are so comfortable. The menu is very diverse, and there's always something you can find even if you aren't craving anything in particular. Today I ordered the Korean beef tacos and they were phenomenal; I'd absolutely get them again. My mom ordered the Chinese chicken salad, which is usually her favorite, but this time around the mandarin oranges were near rotten, so that kind of ruined her meal. They had a grilled lemon pound cake dessert on the specials menu today and all I can say is it was totally worth it. We love coming here when we visit Nordstrom's. We prefer it over Cheesecake Factory, CPK, and all of the other restaurant options at this mall because it's rarely busy and the food is consistently good, whereas those other chains are always hit or miss. read more

We've been going to this cafe in the Ross Park Mall's Nordstrom for years and have NEVER been disappointed. The last visit proved to be exemplary. I never take photos of food but, absolutely had to this time. We started with the clam chowder soup which was out of this world. The pepperoni, mushroom and thyme pizza was delicious as was the lemon chicken pesto gnocchi. We finished with the fabulous strawberry shortcake for dessert. Everything was amazing! "A secret" restaurant in the Roos Park Mall. As California was busy the night we wanted to dine out, we have decided to give it a try and we love it. It's located on the second floor of the Nordstrom store, all way to the bottom of the store. This restaurant gave us more privacy than other restaunt in the mall. There are a lot of people that come by themselves because there is an intimate and cozy atmosphere. I really recommend their Margarita Pizza and their Blueberry Almond Cake. It's so delicious. The menu at The Marketplace Cafe offers both shoppers favorites and chef specials. The menu includes appetizers, entrees, desserts, and specials. On my last visit, my server Nick was very friendly and very funny. I ordered the chicken pasta rossa special and Chef Ashley added just the right amount of heat to the sauce. Nick suggested a very nice Pinot Noir to go with the special. And to my surprise, I won a gift bag from Nordstrom and Barilla Pasta for ordering the pasta special from Chef Ashley. The atmosphere (and also the food) reminded me of an upscale Panera Bread. The food was simple, yet well put together. It was what you would expect from a cafe, but a hair fancier than your average cafe. The soup was rich, creamy and even included a garlic toast. The Blue Cheese & Pear Salad was good, but very sweet. Also, they were generous with the blue cheese, which got to be too strong at times. The sandwich tasted fresh and the bread was a bit crunchy on the outside, adding a nice contrast in textures. You really can't go wrong with the combo of turkey and cranberry. Overall, this may be our stop to grab a bite any time we are in Ross Park Mall. Good, fresh food. Nice experience. read more

I've dinned here multiple times, and every time the service has been exceptional along with the food being delicious. They do an excellent job of making their options match their prices, which are on little on the higher side but still reasonable. You're essentially guaranteed to get your money's worth. It's a great place to stop by for lunch during the week or during a shopping trip to the mall. Hence you will be obligated to pay a tip. There isn't a lot of variety on the menu. My favorites are the cranberry turkey, the vegetable Panini, and the strawberry chicken salad. Customer service is indeed friendly and food is cooked to order. It does have good Wi-Fi so you can enjoy your meal. Food is good-a little pricy but worth the visit. Came here for lunch and the marketplace definitely held up to the level of service expected in Nordstrom. Our waitress was very efficient and nice. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated, but after eating here I understand why many mall goers come here for a nice meal at the mall. I had the soup of the day, which was a mexican inspired broth chicken soup. It was delicious! And I was pleasantly surprised hearing the customers at the next table raving about the soup so much that they were trying to find a similar recipe online for them to make themselves. The waitress went in back and was able to get a recipe for the soup from the kitchen staff for them. That is going above and beyond! They had so many good options that it was hard for me to pick one, but I landed on the classic french dip. The roast beef was actually not well done, but had nice pink in the middle. And the baguette was not hard as a rock, like so many french dip breads are since you are meant to dip it in the au jus, it was able to stand up to the dipping but wasn't hurting my mouth with crunchiness. Best kept secret Nordstroms has! Well except for the bi-annual women's and children's sale in December and July. Men's sales are run at different times of the year. I digress. Tucked upstairs in a corner, you are greeted by a chalkboard of daily specials, small uncomplicated menu, soup of the day, 2 registers and a dessert case that is not to be missed. To date, I have tried salads, soups, sandwiches and pasta. All have been fresh and enormously satisfying. The high end service is friendly but not too stuffy. After placing your order and paying at the register, you are free to choose a seat where ever you would like: center table or large padded side booth. A server greets you, confirms your order and serves your beverage. If you are accompanied by children, yes children in the Nordstrom's Cafe, they will be served a healthy snack of fruit & bread while waiting. Nordstrom gift cards are also "good" at the Cafe. My only regret is that I don't remember it's there unless I am searching for an affordable item or using the nearby Ladies Room. Don't be fooled by the pricey items just outside of the Cafe. It is actually quite comparable to Panera in price and a 4 star restaurant in quality. I will definitely go back again and again. read more

Served on multigrain with havrati cheese and cranberry chutney, this was a good sandwich. The turkey was real roasted turkey which was also nice. It comes with either chips or a salad-I chose the salad with honey balsalmic vinegrette.My mom decided to go with the strawberry balsalmic and goat cheese chicken salad. She said it was quite tasty. Our meal was around $25-no alcohol involved just a water and an iced tea-which is a bit steep for not having actual table service but this was a good lunch spot so if I'm at the mall around lunch in the future, this will probably be my top choice for the meal. read more

This is my favorite lunch spot in all of Pittsburgh. It's a little off the beaten path, being hidden in a department store (only those of a certain age know to look for restaurants in department stores) but is a true gem. The atmosphere is upscale enough to show that it's a step up from a typical sit-down restaurant yet is relaxed enough to appeal to someone passing through for a business lunch or just stopping by while shopping at the mall. Service is always exemplary; of course, this is true of all departments at this Nordstrom store, including those not part of the restaurant. A three course meal is the norm here. The clam chowder is the best in the region and is one of the most popular starter items. For a main course, there are entrees, sandwiches, and salads. The cranberry turkey sandwich and shrimp pomodoro both come highly recommended. Desserts are always available and include the chocolate fantasy cake. Monthly specials are offered and are always worth trying. All meals come with a delicious chocolate mint at the end. The restaurant has many items made with organic ingredients and employs an actual chef, a nice changeup from the "chefs" at other local chains who go by the name of Mike Roe-Wave. In addition to its fine food specialities, Nordstrom has an impressive wine list. Coffee is also available. For those coming with children, rest assured there is indeed a children's menu. Youngsters also receive crayons and activity sheets. Prices are a little more than one of the mediocre chain restaurants found elsewhere on McKnight Road, but you truly get what you pay for here. Additionally, Nordstrom credit card holders can charge meals here (and at the coffee shop downstairs) to their account, which in turn leads to earning points toward notes. This is my go-to spot for lunch or even dinner in the area. While the wait typically isn't too long at dinner, it can fill up during peak mall hours during lunch. It was a sad day for my wallet when I first discovered Nordstrom Cafe. I worked at Ross Park for almost a month before finally trying the place, and I was instantly hooked. No more mall food court for me. The roast beef sandwich with horseradish aioli is seriously some good stuff. It comes with a side of chips but what a lot of people don't know is you can actually substitute a side salad with your choice of dressing. Personally, I can't get enough of the cherry balsamic vinaigrette. Perfect combination for lunch. The pizzas are also good and they have a pretty wide selection of salads. Prices are about the same as Panera, but the food definitely puts Panera's to shame. I usually did take-out and went down to the eBar for a Mexican Mocha and some people watching. Food - For a lunchtime mall sandwich place this is really was a delicious surprise. I got the roast beef sandwich with a horseradish mayo and some pieces of arugula on a thick fluffy square almost crusty but still easy-to-eat roll with a couple pieces of very mild onion on the outside. I would have liked some mustard. The side salad and all ingredients were really fresh tasting. The only thing I would change is to add a bit of spice - I could barely taste the horseradish and in fact the sandwich had a bit of a sweet taste as did the champagne vinaigrette for the salad. For the usual tastes though these were probably perfect. I had water which was definitely filtered. I'll definitely try more .. the soup of the day a vegetable of some sort, the tomato soup, pizza, the other sandwiches all looked good to me as did the cookies and macaroons at the counter. The children's choices looked good with options like buttered noodles and included a drink. Service - Oddly you order at the counter then go to a booth. Then a server brings your food and drink. My water was refilled twice and mints were brought with a copy of the bill and a dessert menu. I did forget to tip (as I always put it on my charge) though I will remember next time.
