French Dip
Ellen K.

I made reservations as the restaurant had a 45-minute wait during peak lunch in late December. My dining companion loved the French Dip and will very likely be a returning diner. My salmon was not cooked to my preferred doneness. But we waited 30 minutes for our meals so I didn't want to send it back to the kitchen and wait even longer. Our table was a comfortable booth with a view of the parking lot before sitting down. I'll chalk it up to them being very busy that our table wasn't perfectly clean. It was a comfortable temperature, not loud at all, and nice lighting.

I have heard mumblings about this place but finally got to try it for lunch with my family today. We had a reservation but when I arrived the hostess let me know that they had a 15 min wait. This was a little frustrating as we had reservation, and even after I clarified that she knew we had reservations we had to wait a bit. She was telling everyone else that walked up the same 15 min delay, and then people who did not have a reservation were getting seated before us 15 minutes after our reservation time. So not sure why you even bother with reservations if that is the case. Overall not a huge deal but I do think folks with reservations should get seated before walk ups. The cafe/restaurant itself is very cozy but upscale. They have a great menu with surprisingly fresh and seasonal ingredients. The food was all delicious. We had the tomato soup (very good), the lobster bisque (not my personal favorite but it wasn't bad), the soup of the day was a turkey chili which was fantastic, the garlic ciabatta (very good) and the cheddar chive biscuit (also very tasty). Our table had a steak salad which was great, the French dip and fries which were also great, the shrimp pomodoro pasta which was not everyones favorite but I thought it was good, and the shrimp arugula salad. The polenta croutons on the shrimp salad were great but overall the salad was under seasoned. We also got a side of truffle fries to try which were great. I would definitely go back and try their risotto dish or one of the pizzas which sounded great. Our server was not bad, friendly but seemed frustrated and annoyed but how busy he was. We had to ask a few times for certain things. Overall I look forward to coming back and trying more of their menu!

Hidden gem. Most people would not be in a hurry to dine in a department store, but this place is quite a delight. From the welcoming hostess to the waiter that was on top of everything - this was a great experience. Now let's talk food - delicious!!! Definitely pleasantly surprised! The lamb chops were done perfectly. The skirt steak was flavorful. The lemon chicken gnocchi was delightful. We will be back!

Korean beef tacos

I've come here many times during my shopping trips, and I am never disappointed. Service is always very kind, the food is wonderful, and (this is something I don't normally care about) the booths are so comfortable. The menu is very diverse, and there's always something you can find even if you aren't craving anything in particular. Today I ordered the Korean beef tacos and they were phenomenal; I'd absolutely get them again. My mom ordered the Chinese chicken salad, which is usually her favorite, but this time around the mandarin oranges were near rotten, so that kind of ruined her meal. They had a grilled lemon pound cake dessert on the specials menu today and all I can say is it was totally worth it. We love coming here when we visit Nordstrom's. We prefer it over Cheesecake Factory, CPK, and all of the other restaurant options at this mall because it's rarely busy and the food is consistently good, whereas those other chains are always hit or miss.

We've been going to this cafe in the Ross Park Mall's Nordstrom for years and have NEVER been disappointed. The last visit proved to be exemplary. I never take photos of food but, absolutely had to this time. We started with the clam chowder soup which was out of this world. The pepperoni, mushroom and thyme pizza was delicious as was the lemon chicken pesto gnocchi. We finished with the fabulous strawberry shortcake for dessert. Everything was amazing! The servers, chefs and manager are the best at what they do. Thank you - Megan, Christin and a shout out to Nick, as well. M&S

Blueberry Almond Cake with Vanilla Beans Ice Cream! Delicious!!!

"A secret" restaurant in the Roos Park Mall. As California was busy the night we wanted to dine out, we have decided to give it a try and we love it. It's located on the second floor of the Nordstrom store, all way to the bottom of the store. This restaurant gave us more privacy than other restaunt in the mall. There are a lot of people that come by themselves because there is an intimate and cozy atmosphere. I really recommend their Margarita Pizza and their Blueberry Almond Cake. It's so delicious. Definitely, I would come back again to try other options. For those who drink and it's a good place for wine.

Organic African Nectar hot tea and tomato soup

I didn't know the place existed at 2nd level in Ross Park Mall in Nordstrom in Pittsburgh. Nicely hide away in the mall. As starter Roma Tomatoes Basil Soup. Loved the Organic steak salad and the Organic African Nectar Tea goes well with the cold weather outside. Give me the privacy I needed. Just chilly. Have Me time. Definitely coming back. The place is pack. I still got my service. Dessert Chocolate covered strawberry cake jar. Chocolate cake, strawberry sauce, chocolate ganache, and fresh whipped cream

Butternut Squash Soup
Tina B.

Our first time dining here, my husband and I didn't really know what to expect. But we learned that you order at the counter, pick a table and a server brings out your food when it's ready. We went with the Soup Du Jour which was a butternut squash soup at the time, a Blue Cheese & Pear Salad and a Cranberry Turkey sandwich. The cafe itself is quite dark and mostly the tables are lit. The atmosphere (and also the food) reminded me of an upscale Panera Bread. The food was simple, yet well put together. It was what you would expect from a cafe, but a hair fancier than your average cafe. The soup was rich, creamy and even included a garlic toast. The Blue Cheese & Pear Salad was good, but very sweet. Also, they were generous with the blue cheese, which got to be too strong at times. The sandwich tasted fresh and the bread was a bit crunchy on the outside, adding a nice contrast in textures. You really can't go wrong with the combo of turkey and cranberry. Overall, this may be our stop to grab a bite any time we are in Ross Park Mall. Good, fresh food. Nice experience.

Shrimp & Arugula Salad
Julie D.

BJ discovered this cute little cafe on one of our shopping trips. We have dined here several times and it's a nice change of pace. I was on a solo shopping trip on Saturday and was in the mood for by favorite salad. Grilled Shrimp & Arugula Salad with corn, grape tomatoes, grilled pieces of cheese and polenta croutons. I would love to be able to give a description of all the other great meals I eaten here. But I am a creature of habit. I always get the same thing. Service is always extra nice. My server yesterday had a cute accent and kept my glass full of iced tea. I really enjoy this spot.

That's good because it was colder than a witch's hoo-ha outside. After spending a lot of time al fresco at Randyland, I think I was breathing icicles by the time I saw this corner cafe, one of a local chain named for what Pittsburgh residents call themselves. It was a welcome sight because I needed something to warm myself before my final walk to the parking garage. Housed in a vintage brick building, it was a cavernous space with tall ceilings and fortunately open tables. I ordered the $4.50 Large 20-oz Cafe au Lait because I needed the extra fuel to get me through the frosty weather (Photo 9). They have Yinz merch for sale and the last of their baked goods. With that said, it is a bit tight with not that many seats, but the option of window seating and seating at the bar certainly helps. I got the cookie crisp cereal milk latte, raspberry almond tart, and cheese toast. It wasn't until halfway through my meal that I rememered to snag a picture. The food was sooooo good, all the flavours perfectly individual and shining through of each item. The tart wasnt too moist or dry, the latte had a lovely light espresso with the aftertaste of the yummy cookie crisp milk, and the toast was a delicious mix of salty and sweet. I was sooo full by the end of it. Before heading out, I had to check out their products and ended up leaving with some goat cheese with herbs and dried flowers and some gluten-free focaccia that I'm excited to try.

So, our family is beginning the wonderful journey of collecting vinyl for our music collection…read more Unlike the rest of my collection, we plan to only have classic or transformative music as vinyl LP's. I often have driven by the LP Café and been impressed with its appearance. This weekend, we decided to pay it a visit to check it out, and we were not disappointed. The owner and staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The selection of vinyl is impressive, especially if you want limited edition or recent pressings of albums. They don't seem to be deep into vintage vinyl, but I think that is a wise choice in this trending neighborhood, where the younger people may be more interested in current releases. The older vinyl options that they had were in excellent condition, and they even had a bargain box selection that was very, very good! Overall, you can tell that the owner and staff have a passion for this. unfortunately, we were in a bit of a hurry, and did not stay for coffee, but I'll bet it's great. The aromas are fantastic. The store seem to be very busy while we were there, but the owner states that recently it has been a little slow - if you're reading my review, it would be great if you would help this wonderful local business out and pay them a visit.
