Well I will start out by saying everyone is super nice, the portion sizes are big and the food is delicious. I had issues though with my order. I specifically said no bacon and I got bacon. I don't eat pork, if I didn't notice it in my salad I could have eaten it. Thank goodness I'm not allergic. I also got cold fries and had to get them made again. The fries are a little salty but still a good flavor and crunchy! The salad was super yummy once it was fixed. And I got the Autumn Fall Apple and Pear with the Apple Cider Vinegar instead of what it comes with which is the poppyseed. All in all it was good and I will be back. I never leave reviews for restaurants, but today I went into hello bistro and I did not have a good experience at all. All i wanted was the "hello bistro burger meal" and a fiesta salad. The young lady at the register said that "they don't make those anymore"? I ended up just getting the "make your own burger" and made it EXACTLY the same way as the hello bistro burger meal. So idk why that was an issue. It took over 30 minutes for a burger w/ fries and a salad. Fries were cold and were not fresh. Burger looked like it was thrown against the wall and then wrapped up. Salad was nothing special. I wasn't a huge fan of it. I ate half the burger and acouple bites of the salad and just threw it away. I paid $30 for trash!!! Will not be returning. read more

I love this chain and visit every time we're in Pgh - I wish we had them here (as well as Eat N Park) in the DC area! Where else can you get custom salads, fries, and burgers all in one spot? I especially love that they've added pasta salad options to the salad menu. The restaurant itself is convenient, but the men's and women's bathrooms had signs that they had been recently cleaned. The women's had crumbs all over the floor and a ring of pink soap scum around the sink drain. The salads are good, no complaints. I like the order yourself kiosks and fries! I think this is such a great place for a quick grab and go salad. It has saved me on several occasions... That being said, I find it really unpleasant to repeatedly find hair in my food. The menu, quality and value across this chain is very impressive! Usually one new (temporary) salad and sandwich creation in addition to a wide variety of interesting salad combos and sandwiches. Ample servings of the food and for maybe an average price of $9 for salads (easily enough for leftovers). Only personal peeve is the use of Iceberg lettuce in their mixed greens, but you can always request the spinach/kale mix instead if you wish. The call-in and online order processes are efficient and especially convenient at this time. read more

As someone who enjoyed Hello Bistro when it first opened in Oakland, I'm very happy that there's one in the South Hills. Hello Bistro is a local chain owned by the Eat'n Park Hospitality Group, and they specialize in serving up two things: burgers and salads. While I do like their burgers and fries (which are 100% YUM), 9 times out of 10, I order soup and salad at Hello Bistro. The soups are the same soups you know and love from Eat'n Park, so I always need a cup of that fantastic chicken noodle soup! As for the salad: there's an option to build your own salad or to order off of a small pre-set menu, and I've used both options multiple times. It's a simple process and the result is always tasty. My orders are almost always ready on time as well, with one memorable exception (and they were obviously handling a large influx of orders based on the number of items being brought out before mine). I admit that a bummer about Hello Bistro is that everything is served in a plastic bowl and a brown bag. Yeah, the salads are huge so I usually end up having leftovers - and yeah, in 2020, takeout is the only way I'm eating any meals made outside of my home. Still, with our plastic pollution issue growing and growing, it would be nice for an alternative sort of packaging to be utilized by all of the locations. That said, good prices, good portions, and good flavors mean that I'm a fan overall. I'll definitely continue to eat here. read more

I am a diehard Hello Bistro fan and am absolutely obsessed with everything they offer. This was my first time at this location. It wasn't the cleanest and was super cold inside. The employees were all really friendly and helpful. My fries were delicious as always. But my burger was medium rare. I couldn't finish it but the employees looked exhausted and I didn't want to bother them. There were no other diners inside but they still seemed busy with takeout. Our food took awhile too which is why it was so surprising that my burger was so pink. I don't see myself going back to this location unless I was ready to stress Well for my burger. read more

I asked for mine to be medium well, and the woman working there said they cook all the burgers to proper temp. and do not cook them to order. Well, when our burgers arrived, both of them were pink in the middle . . . Also enjoy the salads to go, but be wary, as great as they are, some are way higher in calories than you would expect. Hello Bistro ended up being pretty much what I expected it to be. It is pretty much a classier version of Eat'n Park. Overall it was a nice place to get a good, cheap lunch. The inside has a nice modern look to it. The service during our visit was average. The workers we encountered could have been more helpful for it being our first time. For my meal I went with the Superburger and fries. The burger was exactly the same as Eat'n Park, which is what I expected. As usual, it was very good. The French fries are really good and very different from Eat'n Park's. They are skinnier and have a really good seasoning on them. Another plus of this place was the self dispensing Eat'n Park ranch dressing. Can't beat that. I would like to go back to try the salads which looked really good. I've been here a lot during the pandemic to get salads to-go. They are very good and huge. I'm currently enjoying the Strawberry salad. I always order using the app and by the time I get to the restaurant to grab my order it is ready for me. Their app is good as far as selecting and customizing your order. The payment step is sometimes hokey when ordering during a busy time. If it times out, and you get an error message to call the store, don't fret. The response to the app likely just timed out but nevertheless the order and payment went through. It's happened to me and each time my salads were waiting for me and my credit card charged. There's nothing more frustrating than patronizing a business and not being valued as a customer. Picked up our "To Go" online order. My four year old son wanted a glass for water. We patiently stood at the end of the counter. A few workers near the register were serving others - no problem. However, other workers (with empty hands) walked past and avoided eye contact. The female manager with a black shirt came by at least two-three times. It was evident we needed something, but were completely ignored. All we desired was an acknowledgment so we could ask, "may we please have a cup for the water fountain?" to which they would hopefully reach behind the counter - without even having to move their feet - and hand it to us. The process would have taken a total of ten seconds. If there was anything positive, the salad was prepared by the scheduled time and was acceptable to eat. Hello Bistro was one of my favorite places to go for dinner in Oakland as a student at Pitt, so excited to visit a new location in the South Hills on a recent visit back! I had a free entree coupon for my birthday (pro tip: sign up for their email listings to get said free entree!), so visited the Upper St. Clair restaurant with my mom. This location was much larger than the Oakland and South Side ones, with a nice outdoor patio and extensive indoor seating as well. The set up at the counter is essentially the same, including the signature salad bar, which did not have any of the options compromised at the "satellite" location. Always feel so welcoming when walking in the door! I always opt for a build-your-own salad, and this time was no different - I got the spinach and kale lettuce base and added on tofu as some protein. Since it was summertime, strawberries and green apples were on the bar, so had to get those. I also included some other basic salad toppings (cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.), but always need to get the roasted beets - these are the finest option on the bar, in my opinion!! I even requested to have double the portion thrown on, they are that good. I topped the salad off with some goat cheese (not often a cheese option!) and a few almonds to bring the whole salad come together. I love that the employees chop the salad for you and mix the dressing in - I always go for small bites and light dressing (pro tip: ask for dressing on the side if you are worried it will be under-dressed), and this time I tried out the poppyseed vinaigrette to round out my summer-themed salad. My salad was dressed, chopped, and topped perfectly, and the flavors I selected made it feel so summery and refreshing, yet so filling and satisfying. Hello Bistro is likely my favorite fast-casual restaurant in PGH, and I am happy the 'burb locations do not disappoint. After awkwardly standing there for 5 minutes, and staring at how gross the food prep area was, and the floor.. the girl behind the counter told me to go sit down and they would bring me my food. 20 minutes later (not exaggerating) I walked up to the counter and asked them if they had forgot about my order.... of course they did. I wanted to call this chain the GOODBYE BISTRO because every time I went to the other locations they were closed early. Anyway, this is a clean, modern diner where you can build your own expensive salad from a million ingredients or get burgers, grilled cheese or soup. I got the onion mushroom burger with fries. The burger was ok and my fries were over cooked and over salted and burnt. It was just ok. Ordering was super easy, as they had menus printed out to take right when you walk in. The girl at the counter was very friendly and didn't pressure us to hurry up and order. The menu already had great salad choices and you could also "build your own". Fresh lettuce, veggies and salad toppings were in clear view and looked amazing!! I couldn't decide what to choose! I wanted it all! While I was trying to figure out what to have, the manager Jeff had some great suggestions. He was super helpful and courteous. I ended up having a "build your own" grilled cheese with avocado and tomato , fresh cut fries (omggg delicious!) and a side salad. I know I came in for a salad, but the options were endless! The also have burgers with the "build your own" option. I strongly suggest Hello Bistro if you are in the mood for a fresh lunch or dinner. Everything is fresh and made to order. I've been meaning to go here and ordered takeout recently when I was craving a good salad. I ordered a made to order salad online, with all the toppings I wanted and barbecue citrus dressing. Everything was delicious and I was able to pick my order up within 15 minutes of ordering. A shelf up front made it easy to find the bag with my name on, grab and go. The only reason I gave a lower amount of stars was the price. I added grilled chicken and avocado to my salad, which cost an extra $4. Don't think I've ever seen worse customer service. We came in at 5pm on a Sunday evening to grab a couple salads to go for dinner. The restaurant was empty (not another patron in the place) and six people working. We stood and waited to order for at least 3-5 minutes which was confusing (because NO ONE else was there) - a girl asked if we were ready, we said yes, and she walked away to fill herself a drink at the soda station and didn't come back over to help us but talk to another employee about something on her phone instead! Finally - someone came out of the back to help and take our order. A couple employees were bickering right in front of us and appeared visibly tense. After both of our salads were made - we asked for them to-go and the guy chopping didn't want to mess with it so he tossed two lids at my boyfriend who clearly had a full cast on his broken hand and could use help. We again had to ask for a bag and further had to ask for the utensils to be refilled because there were no forks ! As we were walking out, both my boyfriend and I could overhear them making comments. Management - you need an ADULT in here ! 5 of the 6 were kids - under 21- and the only adult was a cook in the back. They were rude, unprofessional, and less than helpful !!!!!! I have places to go orders from several times. This was one my family's favorite places to go up until yesterday . We ordered a salad and a burger . I was severely disappointed there was a warm or something in the salad some sort of bug was in it . And we literally just opened it and put the dressing on it . Then my burger was triple and about 80 percent of it was raw. I use to love this place like I said but after my experience yesterday I am sad to say we will not be gone back , I tried to call several times a got know answer what so ever that could have been that my phone does not have great signal while I am at home .
