Make Build Your Own Salad (Meal)

It's good for healthier eating. Quick and easy without having to cook lol It's a go to every time

My second time at Hello Bistro and first time at this location once again did not disappoint! I would say the only negative was the one worker was thoroughly confused why I did not want lettuce?!? I love everything in a salad except the lettuce. After he got over that, it was wonderful! My husband and I sat outside in the sun and enjoyed our lunch. All items tasted fresh and it was actually a little too much to eat

Hello Bistro was alright - seen this place plenty of time while driving by so, decided to try it. Got the Thai Peanut Salmon Salad, asked for light dressing and added avocado. After ordering at the kiosk and waiting around 20 minutes, the salad came, but drenched in dressing and no crunchy chow mein pieces as advertised. For $18 and a 20 minute wait, the food was just OK but not great enough to want to hurry back.

Good food! Pretty quick service :) Only 4 stars because I wish the order of fries was a larger portion lol

I wanted sweet pea, but they put some edamame in my bowl. Also, it wasn't the right sauce that I wanted. The tofu was overcooked. I only ate half of it because I was super hungry. I do like their drink options because they aren't the common soft drinks people get.

Very clean, and friendly service. I stopped in to grab a salad for lunch, and was really happy with everything. The salad was huge, no shortage of toppings! I love all of their combinations here, and they have a build your own option for all menu items.

Build your own salad

As a very particular person, "build your own" really floats my boat at restaurants. I recently obtained a job in the North Hills, and a coworker suggested Hello Bistro for their build your own salad on my lunch break. I was in HEAVEN when I saw all of the salad options. I was able to pick the type of lettuce I preferred AND add as many toppings as I wanted. They carried every topping imaginable! There was not a single topping that I wished they had. I also LOVED the way they tossed and cut the salad. I hate when you get a salad and all of the toppings stay on the top or float to the bottom... Hello Bistro solved that problem by chopping the contents of your salad according to your preference (small, medium, or large pieces). They even ask if you want light, regular, or extra dressing to toss as well... talk about customization! The biggest turnoff for me was the wait time. The line was not the problem; however, the fact that you have to wait for the workers to make the online/mobiles orders before yours is CRAZY. My friend and I had to wait 20 minutes before the worker was ready to make our salad, which wasted our entire lunch break! There should definitely be someone whose job is solely to manage online orders while another manages the in-store customers. In addition, it was a little pricey. My salad was about $12. It was a nice sized salad, so I wasn't too upset over the cost. Overall, I loved Hello Bistro. I just feel that there are some logistics the company needs to work out to please their customers and make the business run more smoothly. The level of customization available was above par, but I would definitely mobile order next time.

I really like the salad bar at Hello Bistro. You can customize your own salad or order one from the menu. The portions for their salads and grain bowls are pretty big and really satisfying. I also enjoyed their soups - especially the chicken noodle one. It's light and not salty, which I prefer personally.

Today's chopped up salad

I've been here before and remember it being rather delicious. Today the staff was friendly and attentive. I was easily able to substitute blue cheese with goat cheese. However, today's salad wasn't very pleasing. I'll post a picture of it as shown on their poster/internet menu and another photo of what I got. I was presented with something that looked like it was shaken up for 5 minutes in its container or ground in a blender. The chicken was cooked to perfection. But the dressing didn't taste like sesame dressing at all. Can't describe it well but seemed like the goat cheese was mixed with water and thinned out then poured over salad melted. The lettuce was just coated in this whitish mess. I must say however it was a lot of salad. Just wish it tasted better.

Very small portion of salmon in 15 dollar salad.

I'm really sick of the quality and customer service at this place. A few months ago, they completely forgot my chicken and unfortunately didn't find out until I got back to my office, and I talked to the manager and they mailed me a $5 gift card. You couldn't have even made it a coupon for a free salad? Went back today and ordered salmon for the first time. There was maybe at most 4 bites of salmon in there. I didn't pay 15 dollars for 3 bites of salmon. The amount of salmon about fit in a dressing cup. Oh, not to mention the dressing cup was about 1/4 of the way full. It's not even worth my time to get a $5 gift card again.

Come here for Salads and Burgers. The fountain drinks are custom / Boylans. I was pleasently surprised how much selection they had for salad and the burger and fries tasted really good. The fries are natural and a little oily because it's fresh. Would definitly come back!

Didn't fill up the bowl. Half the ingredients that I ordered were missing. In order to identify the other half of the ingredients that I did not order, I would have had to power wash it first. -_-

Pretty good new Beyond Burger I tried today. They pair it with good toppings. Fries always fresh and tasty too.

Not enough family seating options. Mostly high top seating. 3 year old on high top makes me uncomfortable.

It delivers on what people expected from Subway back in the day and current day Chipotle. You can order tons of vegetables that are perfectly prepared and make the bowl of your choice. I love getting the spinach base with pickled onion, corn, crispy onions, hard boiled eggs, chicken, sweet potato. It is just that... and so yummy! The price is reasonable too! I ordered takeout here and the food was immediately ready at the time promised. The stag kindly greeted me and had me on my way. The store fits the mark too. Current decor, well laid out, and just downright comforting. I'll be going to Roots for many more lunches.

When I first came in, the girl who greeted me was very welcoming and kind. She could see I hadn't been there before and explained how it all worked. I was happy when she said I could make my own. She was patient as I walked through the options and chose what I wanted. Made my own bowl with steak, rice and veggies with lemon tahini dressing. Soooo good! It was $16 for the bowl but I ate half today and will eat half tomorrow. I think k it's a big portion and a good deal. I'd like to come back and try another option. Check them out.

Examples of menu items are appetizers (e.g., shrimp cocktail and nachos), soups, salads, wings, burgers, flatbreads, entrees (e.g., pasta primavera, chicken, duck, pork chop, swordfish, and A-5 wagyu), desserts (e.g., limoncello and cheesecake), and drinks (e.g., mocktails, cocktails, wines, whiskeys, and beers). My husband and I have eaten here twice--once for lunch last year and once for dinner this year. Both times, we enjoyed the employees' service and the foods. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Passionfruit-Paloma Mocktail - 4 stars - sour. Spring Sangria - 4.5 stars - slightly fruity. Jumbo Pretzel - 5 stars - huge size with beer cheese and mustard sauce. French Onion Soup - 5 stars - This soup had a rich broth, onions, and cheese. Ybor Cuban sandwich - 4.5 stars - nicely crunchy toast with tasty pork, ham, and Swiss cheese and a side of crispy onion rings. Salmon - 5 stars - I ordered this entree both times. The salmon was perfectly cooked and came with flavorful farro grains, cherry tomatoes, and asparagus. Filet Mignon - 5 stars - This 8-ounce steak was cooked mid-rare as my husband prefers. It came with whipped potatoes and his choice of au poivre style (black pepper crusted with bourbon cream).

Owned by longtime locals John and Melanie Dober, it positions itself as a warm, community-focused spot blending upscale comfort food with a welcoming vibe--think handcrafted sandwiches, premium Black Angus steaks, fresh seafood, flatbreads, and daily specials, all with thoughtful wine and bourbon selections. We were excited for what promised to be a polished neighborhood gem, and in many ways, it delivered. The food was genuinely great and the clear highlight. Our dishes were flavorful, well-executed, and creative without being fussy--fresh ingredients shone through, portions were generous, and everything arrived hot and beautifully plated. It's easy to see why so many reviewers rave about the crab cakes, steaks, and chef specials; the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. This is elevated American fare that feels special yet approachable, and we'd happily return just for the meals. That said, a few aspects fell short and left us feeling the overall experience wasn't quite as seamless as the food deserved. First and foremost, the billing transparency issue was disappointing. They add a 3% bank/credit card processing fee to the check (which adds up quickly on a family dinner), but this isn't disclosed on the menu, at the table, or in any obvious way during the ordering process. There's only a small sign posted outside the restaurant. We only noticed it when the bill arrived, and it felt like an afterthought rather than a clear policy. In an era where many restaurants are upfront about surcharges (or absorb them), this lack of disclosure came across as sneaky and detracted from the otherwise positive value perception. The atmosphere was another mixed bag. The space itself is attractive--soft lighting, comfortable seating, and that friendly "upscale brew pub" energy the owners aim for. However, it was noticeably noisy during our evening visit. Conversations required raised voices, especially as the dining room filled up, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal fully. OpenTable rates the noise as "moderate," but on our night it tipped louder than that, possibly due to the layout or lack of sufficient sound absorption. A bit more attention to acoustics could make a big difference. Service was mostly attentive and efficient, but the management interaction stood out in a negative way. When we politely mentioned the surprise fee at the end of the meal, the response was an apology that felt scripted and insincere--like it had been delivered many times before without real follow-through or ownership. It didn't leave us feeling heard or valued as guests. On a brighter note, the owners John and Melanie genuinely come across as lovely people. The restaurant has that personal, homegrown touch you can sense even when they're not physically present, and locals speak highly of them. They were absent during our nighttime visit, though, which is understandable for owners juggling a busy operation--but their warmth is missed when the front-of-house team is handling everything solo. In summary, Wexford Public excels where it matters most: the food is consistently excellent and worth the trip on its own. The family-owned charm and diverse menu make it a strong neighborhood choice for special occasions, casual dinners, or even happy hour in the cocktail bar. However, clearer communication about the credit card fee (ideally on the menu or bill upfront), better noise management, and more authentic handling of guest concerns would elevate it from very good to outstanding. We'll likely go back for the cuisine, but with tempered expectations on the finer details. If you're in the Wexford area and prioritize great American plates, it's still a solid recommendation--just check the small print before you pay.
