Wowza! My first time trying Greek cookies and I'm blown away! Everything is soooo good! Specially the almond flavor cookies and the tea cookies for me! The butter one with white sugar powder is also amazing! I got a dozen today and I feel like I have to go back to get more tomorrow!!! The texture of the almond cookies is just crazy. Highly recommended! Their spinach pastry is also really good!

What an amazing bakery! Such a hidden gem in Chicago! Greek family owned since 1970's...From the moment I walked in I was greeted by an amazing lady behind the counter. Very friendly and was very patient to explain what everything was in the display. She even gave us samples of some of the items. They were absolutely delicious! Small store front but full of amazing baked good that will keep you coming back for more. There is plenty of street parking. I was able to pull up right in the front. I do recommend heating up the spinach pies when you get home. I bought the spinach pie, custard pie, vegan cookies, and honey cookies. The vegan cookies were absolutely delicious! Not too sweet and pairs great with tea and coffee! 100% recommend!

First time here at Hellas - it was a Hellava good decision to walk in here!!

Family owned, pastries are selling lot hotcakes so everything is fresh, right on the corner so you can chill with a pastry and coffee and look outside the window. I would stick with the best sellers. I usually eat here first before going to Monti's ( which is next door) or vice versa. Sometimes I eat dessert before my meal. Efcharisto Hellas!! That was my brief brainstorming of data points to help me structure this review. But to reflect back and take it slow, I love the owner, she's so very kind. Remember the folks who made it their livelihood to start the business. The second generation would help build the business. The third generation, well, I think they're driving a Tesla and probably not thinking of making Spanikoptika for the rest of their lives. So savor these old schools places and business owners because once they're gone, they gone. Oh the food, that's right, let's talk about that. Everyone loves baklava but they have a dipped in chocolate version, can you believe that!? Also, their custard pastry is so creamy and it has a nice crunchy exterior. Finally, you've gotta try those spinach pies, so cheesy and full of spinach. Once again. with a firm outer crust. How do you say thank you in Greek??

The highlight of this place was the man (who I assume was the owner) working today! He was so lovely and kind! When we walked in he immediately greeted us and asked what he could get us. We ordered two spinach pies, an almond cookie and a chocolate baklava. The spinach pies were very good and I LOVED the almond cookie! The cookie was soft and had an amazing flavor! Before we left the shop my sister ordered two coffees and the man gave us two free cookies to dip in our coffee. Customer service at its finest! Show this place some love!

Get the almond cookie. We heard this was the best almond cookie and they were so right. It has such a rich almond taste, a creamy buttery center, and the most homey feel to it. Shout out to the lady at the counter who gave us a free one too. I could eat this forever. 10/10!

Almond cookie with apricot

Awesome mom and pop Greek bakery. The owners are very nice, and this stuff is really homemade. Highly recommend. I must have come in on an off day the first time. I tried the walnut cake, almond cake, and an extra honey cinnamon cookie they gave me. Both cakes were kinda soggy and wet. Flavor was good. But the cookie was great. I'm glad I came back because then I tried the baklava, bougatsa (custard pie), spinach pie, and rum ball. All of those are incredible. I will dream of the custard pie. Also, there's a $10 credit card minimum.

For my graduation cake, I chose the tres leches and it was so creamy, moist, and delicious. I basically ate half of the cake by myself lol. This most recent time, I needed a snack and wanted something sweet. Everything here looks amazing and I'm sure tastes amazing too, so it's hard to choose. I chose to get the berry chantilly cake slice since it was a hot day, and it was the perfect refreshing treat! It was soooo good.

We got two cupcakes to share -- the purple velvet and the main squeeze. The purple velvet is ube butter cake, ube mousse, and ube cake crumbs. The ube flavor is both sweet and nutty and the mousse topping was light and delicious. The main squeeze is lemon cake filled with lemon curd, cream cheese frosting, and a buttercream lemon on top. Both were incredible, but my favorite was the lemon! I loved that the lemon flavor was light, and the cream cheese frosting balanced it out really nicely. The space is so cute inside! It's also a lot larger than I was expecting. We grabbed a seat at one of the tables inside to enjoy our treats. I will definitely be back with my toddler for a cupcake date soon!

I was skeptical at first because it is a local chain, rather than a singular location. However, it lived up to the hype. Service: it was extremely busy when we came in. The line was almost out the door. They have a system in place for ordering and seating so it worked well and fast given how busy they were. We didn't have any questions on where to order or where to stand when waiting for a seat. The staff were friendly and helped us find a spot to sit at. Ambiance: classic cafe in a city. Loud chatter, but it's a vibe. Very colorful and fun interior with cool textural elements. We had a seat that was facing the street so it was fun to people watch as we sipped and ate. Food: amazing breakfast selection! We ordered the morning sandwich and barbacoa bowl. The morning sandwich had THICK scrambled eggs which were super soft and tasty. I could've used more salsa verde on it. The bread was barely toasted. I'd rate the sandwich a 3.8/5. It got the job done. The barbacoa bowl was "really good" according to my fiancé. A great source of protein, fresh ingredients, nice flavor, and great portions. He would rate it a 5/5. Coffee: I am a coffee snob so I am quite harsh when it comes to reviewing it. Their machine is a cute La Marzocco. Appropriate sized "for-here" glasses according to the drinks. Plus, they were really cute. Wide variety of drink selection from your standards to the more girly-drinks (if there is such a thing). We ordered a cappuccino and small hot mocha. Latte art 4.5/5, temperature 5/5, flavor 4/5. The espresso didn't stand out to me, very standard flavor profile. However, the chocolate in the mocha was delicious. It's more of a rich, dark chocolate. Nice thin layer of foam. Would recommend to try at least once when you're in Chicago! Glad to have stopped in.

I got the pistachio croissant, shakshouka pastry, and berry crunch oatmeal. It took about 20-25 minutes, which made no sense because the pastries are in the case and the oatmeal......is oatmeal. I suspect they opened without having all of their prep done because the delay made no sense. Their staff looked frantic. The croissant wasn't filled, it just had pistachio cream on the top with a couple of nuts. I would order the shaksouka pastry again. The egg was cooked well, and the tomato was very good. They were supposed to heat it up, but it wasn't warm.

Glorious. One-of-a-kind. Amazing. Definitely some of the best pastries I've had in Chicago…read morerecently. If you haven't made it over to Sugar Moon yet, it's well worth a trek out of the way! We visited around noon on a Sunday, and after reading the reviews here, I wasn't optimistic there would be many pastries left. Maybe I should play the lottery, because luckily there was no line and a pretty good selection of pastries left. The staff were super friendly and there were so many unique flavors of baked goods. We decided to split several and opted for the blueberry cloud cookie, chai cinnamon roll, banana pudding croissant, espresso cornflake cookie, and potato focaccia. The shop was more of a small take-out operation, so we took the pastries to a nearby park to eat. Everything was absolutely divine! The group favorite was the focaccia- the creamy potatoes and cheese brought a rich flavor that was perfectly balanced by the fluffy bread. The chai roll was perfectly soft and delicately spiced, completed with that soft cream cheese frosting and gooey center we all like to see. My personal favorite was the banana pudding croissant- the dough was so crispy that I'm pretty sure others could hear the bite, and there was a generous amount of filling with fresh bananas and visible vanilla beans in the whipped cream. The espresso cookie was super soft- while I couldn't taste the espresso very clearly, I absolutely *loved* the caramel-coated cornflakes topped with sea salt. Super unique and would definitely order again. Despite their decadent appearances, none of the pastries were too sweet. Already plotting a return visit and can't recommend this shop enough!

I tried their banana pudding croissant and raspberry scone. The croissant melted in my mouth, it was so flakey and buttery. The raspberry scone was soft and sweet enough. Awesome spot in Logan Square! One of my favorite bakeries in Chicago.
