Everything went wrong! I picked a color for a no chip manicure and when she went to polish my nails it looked pink so I brought the sample next to the polish color and it did not match but the number matched so something is wrong. And also, this is my second appointment with a different manicurist that didn't speak English it was very hard to communicate the shape, how short, she didn't even ask me she filed them very short and she used an app to communicate, a translator app. I gave her cash for her tip when I went to cash out with a credit card the man asked me could I pay in Zelle which is ridiculous. I could see tipping, but not for a payment. The whole time I was stressed when I was supposed to be relaxing and not having to worry about anything. After going to another one and being disappointed with the false advertising (they had photos of acrylic on their site but when I went in they said they only do polish change) I Yelped nearby salons and found this one - I'm so glad I did! When I make an appointment I would like to get served in a reasonable time. Waiting a half hour to me is not reasonable. I know they take walk ins but seems to me that if someone walks in minutes before my appointment they should be told they have to wait for someone had the foresight to make an appointment. Just ok and not sure I'd come back. Service was friendly and they gladly took me in as a walk-in. The lady who did my pedicure was super friendly but I wish she did a more thorough job. The pedicure itself seemed a little sloppy as well. I got a no chip manicure as well which I felt they did a decent job but they didn't wear any gloves or put a towel on the table or indicate they had wiped off the table before I sat down. When doing nails I look for an exaggerated hygienic environment but I didn't find that here. The price was decent. Worst experience with Helen's Nails. I had an appointment scheduled with Lisa the partner for 11am on July 2nd . I had to wait approximately 2 hours. After 2 and a half hour waiting for Lisa was informed by Lisa she had to leave since something has come up . I was told to wait for another person , waited another half an hour to get my no chip manicure and pedicure and guess what after all that wait the no chip did not last even 24 hours. Complete waste of money and time. The customer service here is pathetic. I was very disappointed with the results they did an awful job and my money was down the drain . Never coming here again , I called to make sure they would have time for me . They stated yes they could do my full set and toes. I got there and they started on my toes first and there were only 2 women inside when i arrived. Once my toes were done they had me wait an additional two hours while other women walked in got their nails and toes finished . Me and another African American lady had to wait for almost 3 hours so we both walked out and one of the workers said something smart and they all started laughing. The other reviews on yelp caught my eye, so I had to try this place out. This nail salon is absolutely amazing. It is family owned and run with the most professional and friendly staff. Anna was my nail technician, and she did a phenomenal job! I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my nails or what color to choose, so Anna gave me many suggestions. I ended up going with the color changing powder, which is so cool! Anna was very welcoming and conversational, which is always a plus and sometimes hard to find in a nail salon. Anna's work is flawless, stunning, and durable! After having my nails on since 1/22/17, I am still in love with them! I've come here in the past and the service was just okay. It wasn't bad but I never returned. Until yesterday! It's under new management since I last visited and wow it is amazing! It's very unassuming with the location and storefront, but the service is the best I've ever had. The family business aspect is something I treasure. Few times I came to this place and I made appointment previously with Lisa. She is very very good with both manicure and pedicure. , especially with French. The problem is they put you down for appointment with her but they always send someone else instead. Only once I got a chance when she actually finished pedicure that guy started. So, few days ago I came in and made appointment ahead of time and mentioned that I want Lisa to do everything. I asked few times to make sure that she is free and she can do it . I had a 5:30 appointment. I arrived at 5:15. There are two people working at Helen nails, and both were working on manicures so I patiently waited in a massage chair for my pedicure appointment. 45 minutes later, I am next to have my pedicure and I show the man what I wanted on my toes (see photo) and he tells me "I can't do that". It's a simple flower on my big toe. Then I said okay, how about any design? He proceeds to tell me he can't do nail designs and I should have told him when I made my appointment. I've gone to this place a total of 3 times. The first two times were great. Friendly staff. Clean. And the no chip mani work lasted 3 weeks without it starting to peel off or anything. I walked in here on Father's Day (there's a big sign that said "walk ins welcome" on the window) and while waiting for someone to ask me what I need, they said to hang on. So I think it was the owner or manager or whatever, and she was on the phone. When she got off the phone she just straight said to me "I'm sorry we're booked for the day." I replied, oh, are you not taking walk ins?" She replied back saying "no, sorry." I was so disappointed they didn't even TRY to accommodate me! Not even a "the wait time is xyz, can you come back later?" Or a "come back at xyz and we can help you." I will not come here again. I brought my daughter here to get her nails and toes painted. My daughter (4) is not new to the nail shop as I bring her once a month. He did not make her feel comfortable and he kept raising his voice telling her to relax and don't move and all she did was shook her head. He then kept telling her that she is killing him. When he started on her toes he said I'm doing the best I can and she is literally sitting still. He put the toe separators on her feet and EVERYWHERE else we have been they use tissue. I can tell she was uncomfortable. He got an attitude because she accidentally messed up her thumb nails. I will not come back here not even for myself. I don't feel like anyone felt welcomed there. Avoid this place at all costs! Especially, if you are looking for a place for pedicure! When I made an appointment for no-chip mani and regular pedi a few days ago, I confirmed the cost to be $55. When I went there today for my appointment, everything went wrong! The guy rushed me to a seat and asked me to choose one of the only two options in a great hurry. No explanation or no other options! He was so unpleasant throughout the whole process, too! He scolded me for not staying still, letting out big sighs once in a while. When the service was done, he asked for $85! I was very perplexed and asked why. The only answer I got was 'No, it's $85!' He didn't even bother to explain what the hidden fee was for. Had I known that there was a huge hidden fee, I would not have done this. I have been here for a few times a year and I even recommended this place to my friends. How has no one reviewed Helen's? I'll tell you why: I've been driving by it my whole life and somehow never noticed it was there! This is a cute little place! I was shocked when I was chatting up the staff and one of the guys said, "We've been here for 18 years!" Apparently, he hears all the time that people did not know they are located there -in the little strip mall on the southeast corner of Golf and Salem. For $40, I got to relax in a massage chair while someone worked on my hands and another on my feet. It was nice and quiet, with only a few other customers in the place (it was a Saturday afternoon, around 3pm). They also massaged my hands and feet and it included a scrub too. I felt very pampered! I think the staff was super friendly, efficient and they did a great job! I'm a runner so my nails were in pretty bad shape when I walked in, but they somehow made them look human again! ;0) I'm so excited to have found this little gem! This will be my new suburban escape when I head to Schaumburg to do my shopping and/or visit my mom! I love that I can get my toes done and that my commute back into the city allows for dry time! read more

I came here on the recommendation of a friend, and I knew it was going to be good (she is obsessed with her nails). I got a regular pedicure and a no-chip manicure. After 2.5 weeks, my toes are still going strong, and I just went to get my nail redone. I was a bit concerned about my nails at first, because I felt they didn't wrap the tip of my nails. However, I was pleasantly surprised that there was no chipping or peeling of the polish. There were a couple things I didn't like- they used the drill to file my natural nails, which made me cringe a little bit. I already have pretty weak nails, and I didn't want them to get thinner. They also didn't put on cuticle oil after the service, which I thought was pretty standard for gel manicures- the UV lights can be drying on your hands! Overall, my manicure lasted until I took it off, the application was clean, the atmosphere is friendly but professional. It's not too much to ask, but hard to find in the suburbs. I'll just bring my own cuticle oil next time :) read more

I'm not the type to leave reviews but this place is subpar or it was the lady who did my nails that didn't do good. I like this place to do pedicures. I went in to get a full set with a lady with glasses, brown hair. Don't know her name but I'm guessing it's Anna or something because her equipment had the name Anna on it. Everything was going good until she used the machine to file my nail or whatever it's called. She hurt me in the process and I was bleeding, she didn't even apologize. This has never happened to me and she kept telling me to relax my hands... no other nail salon has told me that. On top of that my right wrist has been broken before and I can't move my hand they way I want it to most of the time. My pinky had also broken and she was just really aggressive with it and kept telling me to relax. I tried to relax but it's really hard especially after someone hurts you. Now I have glue every where. Idk if she's new but my nails do not look like they're worth $43. I told her that the shape was weird and told her it hurt. I guess she didn't understand i don't know but she just ignored. Didn't apologize or anything. Now at the end she sees that I have a cut and I'm bleeding but she still proceeds to put acetone over it and it burned so much and it hurts. The picture doesn't do it justice. The shape of my nails are not even consistent. I paid $43 Plus $5 tip because I am a nice person but for horrible nails it's not worth it.
