I work in MN and I live out of state and needed to rent chairs, tables, table clothes for business purposes. I went in the facility to rent and the clerk ask me for valid ID and of course I had it. I had gave it to him and then he said do you have a valid MN ID. I replied "No, but you asked me for valid ID. If I work for a business in MN and I can't rent from them because I have valid ID in another state then I have no use for this place nor do I want to spend my companies money there ever!!!!!!!! I've only rented here x2 but I'm really impressed. First, unlike renting from a local hardware store, their inventory is massive. Second, they really know their equipment: both times I've been there I ended up renting a different piece of equipment from what I intended to, in both cases something better-suited to my needs. This is 100% due to their asking good questions and knowing what's the right tool for a particular task. Third, they know an amateur/do-it-yourselfer when they see one, and work very well with people who aren't 100% sure of what they're doing. It's about a 15-min drive from my house to their location on WB Avenue, but totally worth it. I will go there every time. read more

Not only are you supporting local by coming here, but they are also so attentive, kind, helpful, and affordable! We will always be renting here for all of our hauling needs. From the time we pulled in, to the time we got hooked up and left the parking lot, it took 10 minutes! They are so nice, fast paced, and even loaned us a tow hitch as we didn't have one with us! Great Service and Price! It felt like a lost cause when I lost my expensive wedding band in the deep woods behind my home. I went to Hejny Rentals and they gave me one-on-one instructions with my rented metal detector. I knew the general area of where to search. After 20 minutes of looking, the detector sounded the alarm and I found my ring! I never could have done it without the extra training I received at Hejny Rentals. They even reduced the price when I returned the metal detector early. I've never rented equipment before and initially had some trepidation. I needed a trailer to move some furniture; round trip about 100 miles. I went to Hejny after viewing reviews through Google that gave it a pretty good rating for customer service. I concur that the customer service was excellent! I drove out with a trailer in tow after about 10 minutes max. When I returned the trailer later in the afternoon, the proprietor recognized me when I came in (and it's the first time I rented from them.) He verified my name and said "You're done! Thank you!" I turned around before even reaching the counter. The yard man had already disconnected the trailer and I was ready to drive away. We'll certainly be back there for anything we need from their huge list of rent-able items. read more

Dont fill your propane tanks here! I brought a #20 tank in to have it filled, I had #5 in tank. The guy behind the counter was VERY rude when i asked why am I being charged for #20 when you only put #15 in? He said... Thats just the way we do things around here. Not reliable. Reserved an item for a fundraising event well in advance. Put down the deposit and everything. Got a call less than two weeks before the event and was told that the current reservation had been extended and the item would not be available for us so now we are scrambling to find something. read more

We recently rented a dunk tank for my daughter's graduation party. IT WAS SO EASY TO DO thanks to these folks. We were given a quick tutorial and were on our way. Dropping it back off the next day was even easier. There service team had it unhitched and taken care of the minute we drove in the lot. I needed to sand an outdoor deck in preparation for refinishing. After describing what I wanted to do they recommended a vibrating floor sander that also requires the renter to buy a foam pad and sheets of sandpaper (12"x18") for about $10 each. Upon using the sander I discovered it was not the tool for the job. The foam pad and sandpaper are supposed to stay stacked together under the sander by friction (apparently) but after sanding about 10 linear feet of deck the sandpaper started to "stick" to the deck and the pad would slide out from under the sander. Upon returning the sander (and losing a day of work and driving 30 miles) they did refund the rental charge but charged me $10 because the foam pad was obviously used, although you couldn't tell that the sandpaper had been used. When I asked, incredulously, if they were really going to charge me for the pad since I followed their recommendation and it didn't work the clerk shrugged and said, "Well, the sander did run." A $10 lesson learned about renting at Hejny. UPDATE: After being brushed off at Hejny's I went to White Bear Rental where I talked to their "guy who knows everything." He suggested a much coarser grit (which seemed counter intuitive at the time) with their different kind of orbital sander. The job took only two hours, used one foam pad and two sheets of sandpaper, and the equipment worked well. I'm going back there in the future. UPDATE 2: Hejny called me and apologized. Apparently the staff member who took my return was an experienced employee but was having family issues, as well as the fact that the sander may have been too worn to work right. Hejny refunded that $10 as well. read more
