It fun that when you open the doors you instantly transported into a whole different darker vibe with the rose handle door and picture frames all around. Compliments to our waiter too for giving us amazing recommendations on each menu section, time to decide, and overall a professional but very friendly and chill experience. It is nestled within another restaurant - making it a little hard to find, but contributes to the fun and exclusivity of a speakeasy! Came here Saturday evening with a reservation to celebrate my birthday. I usually don't come out to Reston because it's a bit far for me, but this was well worth the drive. Heirloom is an elevated and higher end speakeasy that serves some amazing food and drinks. It is located within Open Road. The service was overall phenomenal. The drinks here were made with some local selections. There is a parking structure right next to this place. The entrance to the speakeasy is elegant and fitting. Inside is dimly lit with little lamps at each table. They have a huge selection of wines and other alcohol as well as some virgin drink options. The food was delicious. The Burrata was refreshing and had a nice summer taste with seasonal ingredients such as peaches and tomatoes. The scallops came with a green Thai sauce and a crispy sticky rice. The crispy sticky rice was interesting but it paired with the rest of the dish well. The Gouda Mac and Cheese was fresh and had a good flavor. They offered a complimentary drink for my birthday because the birthday dessert ran out for the day. Ended up getting a dessert and the waitress brought some complimentary sparkling wine. Omg, the food. It was cool enough to enter through the brewery via an unmarked door like it's a secret spot only the in-crowd know, but... the food. Our waiter was there when we needed him and not when we didn't. The ambiance was lovely - dark paneling flavor with comfy benches - but not overwhelming. The drinks were excellent. But the food... the appetizer focaccia drowned in butter with three different spreads! The calamari perfectly fried with a nice salty breading and a light touch of sauce! You enter through an unassuming doorway to find an interesting hallway covered in family photos that leads to a rose-knobbed door that is so cute! The aesthetic is dark, romantic and yet still modern. The wait staff is on point. They seemed to time every interaction perfectly. Not over checking on us to cause any interruptions on date but also not neglecting us to the point where we couldn't get in our requests as needed. The food was delicious! We started with the beef carpaccio; our first time even trying any beef carpaccio dish. The meat was literally melt in your mouth - so good. We also had cocktails that were beautifully crafted - delicious yet still strong! Our main dishes were the Seafood Cioppino and the Scallops dish. The only critique of the night was that the cioppino did not have enough broth when thinking about a traditional cioppino. My husband and I both grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where cioppino originated and the broth is everything! The broth was definitely flavorful, we just wanted more of it. The place is reminiscent of a speakeasy (I know many surveys commented similarly) but it is accurate. Just as you enter, you see a little recess with a couple of black, nondescript doors. Even as the dining room filled up as time went on, our server continued to check on us frequently until we ordered our meals. The orders were served quickly and efficiently. Our server continued to monitor our meals and checked on us regularly even though she attended to other guests. The food was very good, especially the appetizers. We started with the house made potato chips and caramelized French onion dip and calamari, both of which were excellent. Then we ordered tuna carpaccio, scallops and beef bolognese. The first two were reportedly delicious while the bolognese was neither very saucy nor especially well seasoned. Quantities were generous and prices were moderate by today's standards. When you enter it has this dim aesthetic and looks very chic inside. The drinks were good, I tried one of the cocktails on their fall menu, Sparks of Joy. It has a hint of cinnamon in it, not overpowering but really perfect. The food was delicious too.. we had the spicy bucatini and the braised short rib. I'm so happy that Nova finally has a great speakeasy like this! Sometimes you don't want to have to go all the way into DC for a great cocktail, and this is one of the best I've been to. The service was amazing, our waiter stopped by and check, gave good recommendations, and made us feel welcome. The cocktails are also super unique and delicious. Get the clarified milk punch cocktail!!! If you don't know what it is, it's just a way of processing the alcohol to make it smoother - don't worry, it's not creamy and you won't taste the milk. The food is also amazing. The mussels are delicious with a subtle heat to them. The beef carpaccio is also delicious - I wish I could have eaten the whole dish by myself. It was a great place for a date night or something more intimate! I had been hearing about it for a while and we decided to come here for drinks before dinner in the Reston Town Center. The entrance is definitely hidden and you have to walk through a small hallway to get through another set of doors before reaching the restaurant. We came around 6:00 with no reservations and they were able to seat us just for drinks on the side. I ordered the Sweet Pea which is similar to a Vodka Sour and my boyfriend ordered the drink of the week which was a "Cherry Cobbler". I absolutely loved the Sweet Pea - it was slightly creamy and the alcohol taste wasn't overpowering - just very well made. I did wish that the sweet pea and arugula was a bit more enhanced but I still loved it. As for the Cherry Cobbler, it was unique and delicious - a bit stronger on the alcohol taste but still well balanced! The service was okay but they were quite busy on the Saturday night and since we were sat on the side in a nook, our server took a while to come back when we wanted the check. That may be because we were just having drinks and so the turnaround is a little quicker but overall, no complaints!! Definitely want to come back to try their food! read more

First attempt as a bit older married couple to go there on a Wednesday. My recommendation if in same situation is Don't go unless you have a guide or have been there before. Parking a problem if you don't know that there is no charge after 5pm I think on weekdays. We stood around for 20 minutes trying to pay parking until a good Samaritan gave us the scoop. You must enter a bar next to parking lot then walk the gauntlet bumping through massive partying groups to get to "the hidden door". When finally got there after 45 minutes (luckily always arrive early for reservations) we first were to be seated at the ass-end of entry at a small table back right for a small 2-table that was butt-end to a party of at least 10 or more partying. A terrible seating option. Noise was deafening. We asked to be moved somewhere quieter and were seated in a small side box-like room where noise perhaps was equal or greater. Ambiance we saw were wooden tables bar-like. Didn't get a tour. After seated and no attention we approached receptionist and said we must leave as very uncomfortable. Bottom line not sure why this place would get any good reviews. Our 1 star is for the nice receptionist only. read more

What a great addition to Reston Town Center! You enter Heirloom through Open Road Distillery through double black doors that is unmarked. You can ask the host at Open Road for guidance if needed! Once you enter through the doors, you'll be in a short dark hallway full of pictures in gold frames with one large door at the end of that hallway... which leads into Heirloom. Ambiance: dark, moody, little upscale. Fairly small but very nice decor and artwork! Service: 10/10. We came without a reservation which is something we never do... but we were nicely greeted by the host and who appears to be manager or in the management team. They had us wait in the small lounge area where they said we were welcome to order drinks and/or food if they can't get us a table. But within 10 min, we were seated. The service was excellent. Food: we started with the mussels small plate/app. It was one of the best mussels we've ever had. It was smothers in their tomato based sauce and full of flavor. It came with very crispy garlic bread for dipping which.... They brought out more bread for dipping for us (he** yeah, that made my night LOL) We pretty much devoured that dish a little too fast. For our entrees, we got the braised short ribs and Chilean sea bass. Both were decent portions and flavorful. We ordered one additional side because our entrees did not come with a side. The colcannon potatoes were not our favorite and needed a little more salt and butter. Next time, I'd like to try their layered crispy potatoes. Drinks: my fiancé tried the distillery's bourbon and he said he enjoyed it. He ordered the bourbon net and then an old fashion. Per his feedback, he'd get the old fashion again. I'm pregnant so I ordered the Vanilla non-alcoholic drink which was sooooooo good. I love anything with lime but it had a distinct vanilla taste with it which made it even better.
