A trusted friend referred me to Heinz Home Improvements and I'm so glad she did.
I initially called Chris to get an estimate on a few small things: installing a new screen door, repairing a small hole in a wall, adjusting the French doors in our basement so they would close properly, installing a door bell, etc. He assured me that no job was too small and he proved it by doing excellent work in a timely manner. He even told me about some less-expensive repair options that, ultimately, made more sense for our home and the amount of time we plan to stay in it.
It's a good thing Chris made such a great impression because about two weeks later, we had some pretty major water damage at our house. The dishwasher sprang a leak and poured water into the kitchen. Then the ceiling in the basement below gave way and the basement basically had small pools of water in it. I called Chris right away to hire him to get our home back into shape. He displayed an enormous amount of patience for all the questions I had about the process.
He replaced drywall and flooring on two levels, painted, installed a new dishwasher, upgraded track lighting to recessed lighting, and replaced the toilet in the basement bathroom, among other things. As before, Chris made sure to explain when spending a little more money on a type of material/product would really make a difference in the long run, or when a less-expensive material/product would be perfectly fine. It was clear that he takes pride in giving his customers honest information to help them make an informed decision.
When I found out the paint color I had in my kitchen/dining room had been discontinued five or six years ago (and I didn't have the paint codes anymore), Chris put in extra legwork to find a match. I really appreciated that! I also authorized Chris to communicate with my insurance company about the work that needed to be done. He did a phenomenal job of maintaining his professionalism during many frustrating conversations with my claims representative.
Chris always gave me a complete report on the work completed each day and he and his workers treated our home respectfully. He is a perfectionist in the way that matters to customers -- he aims to do the job right the first time. In my case, that's just what happened. It's now impossible to walk into our home and tell that it sustained the kind of water damage it did.
I would recommend Heinz Home Improvements without hesitation and, in fact, have already done so to my friends and co-workers! read more
