Let this be my first Elite Yelper review. It's May 18, 2024 and this was my Administrative Assistants' Day Visit. We as Yelpers serve a purpose of our own choosing. Businesses are people as are we and rarely are we ever entirely bad or entirely good. I've found as I've aged, I've become more highly sensitized to how I'm treated and how legitimately good the service has been. But rather than post negative reviews about a bad experience, I'll choose henceforth to limit my radiant appraisals to those truly deserving enterprises out there. After all, we who check Yelp looking for which business to patronize seek those out - they who've risen to the top or at least are striving to do so. So that Admin celebration day I'd searched from Lodi to Hackensack and one wretched faux flower shop to the next seemed to cast a pall of doom over my benevolent mission. Then from those depths, I reached the Heights. As I got approached the entrance, I said out loud to no one "here's a flower shoppe!" You must bear in mind the last I'd come from tried asking me flowers, despite the fact she had no flowers. She asked me to "visualize"... It if anything, flowers are life - the here and now beauty of what shall be lost to time. They not so much celebrate as reaffirm: it's a wonderful world. Europeans daily festoon their homes with bulbs and blossoms. The entire entrance is e tracing as flowers seem to explode all around the little iron bench and front door frame. As you enter, you realize this is an old building preserved as a business but without having lost the intimate feel of its prior abode. The owner is gregarious md exacting and with a team of perhaps five assistants. A few regular locals stopped by. The two arrangements for two wondrous hard working assistants who've made my life far better for their hard work were to be red and white. As I waited, I wandered about seeing all manner of curious curios and humorous nicknacks. I asked if upstairs was a part of the shoppe. Why yes it was I was assured but first I should call out "Beth someone coming!" Up the creaky old stairs I climbed and lost my bravery when I saw shoes and personal effects outside the third floor door. No i was informed - that is a private apartment but not the second floor. So here's what you need to know. For arrangements I paid $50 a piece for, I was given well arranged, tastefully displayed and brilliant bursts of color and life. Proud I was indeed to see the real reviews from smiling woman after woman (men typically aren't aesthetes, sadly) in the huge office building I was in. All could see a thing of natural but for what it was: a reminder of what this world is. What's it's always been. What it'll continue to be: a garden for growth and appreciation. They were so sweet to us when we went to the shop for a gift. Gave my 3 year old daughter a flower, let her fill out a card for her nanny's gift we purchased and also gave her a balloon. I would definitely shop here again. Instead of being upset I had my little on, the man and woman working embraced it. I appreciate that! read more

My experience with the this Hasbrouck Heights flower shop has been on the receiving end not buying end. Every time they delivered me flowers, they have been beautiful arrangements where the vase always matched up with the flowers, in color and form. I went there wanting to get a ribbon that said "beloved mom' to go on a wreath that was bought as a memorial. I bought 3 carnations and got a pink ribbon that was nice but i was shocked at the price. The man was nice but, I paid 23 bucks for the ribbon and 3 carnations. I'll give credit that despite my getting no food for the flowers the carnations still look good. I put some sugar in with them and trimmed the bottoms. That said, I didn't look into getting flowers for the funeral there bc If a ribbon is $15+ , i cannot imagine the cost of a flower arrangement. It is a nice place with a cute gift shop but i feel like he could have been more reasonable about a 3ft length of ribbon and the words beloved mom pinned to it. read more

From the centerpieces to the bouquets and boutonnieres--everything was so fantastic! From the moment I met Ray, I knew everything would be perfect. He always made time to meet me---despite me being an out of state bride--taking my calls, or arranging meetings around my schedule--everything was super professional and fun! Ray has a great personality, he knows the business well, and he makes everything you want and dream of happen! I cannot even begin to write enough amazing things about Ray and The Heights Flower Shoppe. I got married last week on June 18, 2016 and Ray did an UNBELIEVABLE job. The consultations, pricing, previews, and final flower arrangements were stunning! Ray went above and beyond what we asked of him and NEVER went outside of our budget. After researching countless flower shops, we chose HFS was because of our initial consultation. Ray listened to everything we wanted, was extremely helpful, and he offered the best and most competitive price. Throughout the planing Ray was always available to us, so helpful, and made the entire process so easy. When the wedding finally arrived I was speechless when I saw the flowers. The church flowers were decorated so beautifully, the bridal party arrangements were full and gorgeous, especially my bridal bouquet, and the arrangements at the reception were STUNNING. Let me begin by saying how disappointed I was with my wedding floral arrangements. Both my bouquet and centerpieces were nothing like what we discussed and created when we met for my floral appointment. My centerpieces were beyond underwhelming!! It looked nothing like the sample we created during my appointment. The centerpieces looked as though a child with no experience threw it together. All the beautiful greenery I wanted was substituted with cheap leather fern that I specifically said I did not want in the arrangement at all. The florist also agreed to add floating orchids in the vases and there were no orchids. (See photos below) My bouquet was also nothing like what we discussed at our meeting which I think was the most heartbreaking. I expected more touches of green and eucalyptus and all I got were plain roses. (See photos below) Lastly, my cake was supposed to have a combination of roses and eucalyptus and sadly a few roses were placed on the cake and no eucalyptus. (See photos below) I don't understand how a florist misunderstood my vision on my wedding day. For this reason, I don't recommend this florist or feel they deserve a good review. read more

I've known Ray since I was a little girl and he would make special corsages for my Mother with my $5 of birthday money. Mom wasn't going anywhere but he would make the most gorgeous corsage because he knew I was doing something special for her. Back then he was just starting out. Fast forward 30 plus years and he has the MOST beautiful shop that creates the loveliest arrangements. They go above and beyond to make whatever event you need flowers, something special. I ordered a funeral arrangement online and when I went to the funeral home for the visitation I was very disappointed in the floral spray. The arrangement consisted of snapdragons and many of them were wilted or dead. VERY DISAPPOINTED - I emailed the shop twice and still haven't heard back from them. I'm following up with a call. I've been to this flower shoppe for the longest time (perhaps every year for 4 yrs in a row) flowers are mediocre and has increased with cost. Asking the cashier if there would be a bit of cut on the cost since I'm a working college student; but SHE would not even consider and said I need to speak to the owner who was NOT there. This place came highly recommended and I was severely disappointed by the rude woman who answered the phone. I was calling to order an arrangement from out of state. Not only was this person unfriendly, she was having a conversation with coworkers while taking my order. As I was reading her the card message (which she was annoyed to take down) our conversation got disconnected and despite having all of my contact info she never even bothered to return my call. I work in the flower industry as well and would NEVER treat my customers that way. Shame on your customer service. I promptly called another flower shop in the area and got my order taken care of. Came in for consultation for my daughters wedding in July. We did so because you are the preferred florist for where the wedding and reception are being held. We called back shortly after to book you for the wedding. Messages were left with you all summer long. Talked to you twice since and you didn't make an appointment or anything with us just told us you would call us back. Still have not heard from you. It is now the end of October and we have booked another florist. If you didn't want our business you should have said so instead of keeping us hanging. Very bad experience. read more

My daughter got married 2 weeks ago and Ray and his wonderful staff did the best job with not only her wedding party flowers, the church flowers, decorating the Venetian in Garfield with magnificent centerpieces but Ray also decorated the outside of my home with beautiful white tulle and white butterflies. We have trusted in Ray and his staff since we moved into town in 1984 and we knew that they would never let us down. Our guests were raving about the flowers being so fresh and colorful that they almost looked fake.
