Part of the garden tasting area

I know nothing about mead but I've been here twice (2019 and today) and enjoyed my glass both times. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Since my last visit, they've really built out their garden and tasting area. It's a peaceful, beautiful place and I really enjoyed stopping by on a whim today.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff are really friendly, and the woman who helped me pick which mead to have today was really nice and helpful. They're a little out of sight in point Reyes station because of their location but totally worth a visit if you're in the area.

Lots of places to drink in the sun and shade

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Love love love this place! It feels like a picnic at a friends place, music playing, beautiful farm views and their is a farm golden lab named Winnie that came to spend some quality time with us (so soft and sweet).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now for the mead shockingly good. I've always thought of Mead as sickly sweet - this is the exact opposite! Fresh and light and you can really taste the honeys plant origin, blackberry, orange blossom, even radish which was really good! The staff and store is great , it is not fancy but nice just the way I love! So happy I now know this gem!

The first time I learned about mead, I was reading an Old English epic poem about a Scandinavian warrior named Beowulf set in the 6th century, who was drinking mead with his companions when a terrible monster attacked them. I imagined a sickly sweet beverage, oh and lots and lots of blood and bravery. Heidrun was my first time drinking actual mead, or honey wine. Clearly, I had a lot to learn. I had a classic tasting that included four different types. Somehow I imagined mead would come in a tankard, a la Beowulf, but instead it was served in a dainty champagne glass. Two varieties were made from Hawaiian honey and one from local wildflower honey. Mead tastes like a sweet, dry sparkling wine or cider, with subtle flavor notes depending on the origin of honey. Like wine, it can be produced in stainless steel tanks, and later bottled. At Heidrun, the mead is made using the traditional French Methode Champenoise. A $25 tasting fee is waved when purchasing three bottles, at about $30-$35 per bottle. The labels are attractive and include the floral source of the honey hand drawn by a local artist, giving the bottles character and charm. The mead industry has grown significantly since Heidrun first opened in 2017, as the third meadery in the US. Today there are over 300 craft meaderies. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The setting is rustic and service includes friendly women pouring, chatting and educating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The grounds are larger than expected. Anyone can pack a picnic in and bring it here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely worth a visit, especially on a sunny spring day.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Heidrun has the most charming outdoor setup -- perfect for a relaxed and intimate celebration.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I hosted a group of seven at one of their picnic-style benches outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While you can reserve online, it's more about giving the staff a heads-up on expected guests rather than guaranteeing a specific table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I arrived around 11 AM and was able to snag a long, shaded picnic table with umbrellas -- ideal for our setup.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I brought along some light decor, snacks, and desserts to pair with the mead, and it all came together beautifully. As for the mead -- wow. Everything we tried was delicious, and we had such a fun time sampling the different flights. The standout favorite for our group was the Orange Blossom, which we loved so much we ended up buying a bottle to share. The staff kindly brought it over to our table in an ice bucket to keep it chilled -- such a nice touch! The service truly stood out. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. A few times, they even brought our next pour directly to our table, which made the experience feel extra special. One of the managers (or possibly the owner!) stopped by both during our setup and again mid-event to make sure everything was going smoothly -- amazing hospitality. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bonus: the venue is dog-friendly for well-behaved pups, which is a huge plus in my book.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love being able to include my dog in special days like this. Thank you, Heidrun Meadery, for helping make this celebration so memorable. We'll absolutely be back!

Absolutely loved our time at Hedirun Meadery. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's such a beautiful spot, with snacks and tasty mead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To be honest, before this I didn't know the difference between mead and wine lol, but now I do. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's very serene, peaceful, and homegrown.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The prices are extremely reasonable and the mead is tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are also dog friendly, accommodating to all types and sizes of dogs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We brought our Shiba and they greeted her warmly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Visiting Heidrun Meadery was an unforgettable experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Set in a peaceful, scenic spot with rolling hills and flowers, it's the perfect place to relax and sip on something unique.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] What amazed me most was how the mead's flavor changes with the seasons, depending on the flowers the bees pollinate. Each batch is a reflection of nature--like the California Orange Blossom, which was light and citrusy, or the tropical, smooth Hawaiian Lehua Blossom. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved that you can bring your own picnic and enjoy it on their beautiful outdoor grounds.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sipping crisp, bubbly mead while surrounded by nature made the experience even more special. Keep in mind you can ship the meed back home if you're traveling ! Whether visiting in summer with everything in bloom or in fall for a different flavor profile, Heidrun Meadery is a must-visit.

Visited Heidrun Meadery for a tasting and really enjoyed the experience overall. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The mead was great, and the outdoor space is lovely.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can walk around or even bring your own picnic, which made for a super chill afternoon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everything went smoothly until checkout. The woman who helped us wasn't the friendliest, and when we mentioned how many tastings we had and the tasting promo (buy 3 bottles, get one tasting waived), she didn't really double confirm. I got the receipt by email, and once I got cell service to check it, I realized we were charged for an extra tasting we didn't do. I had to follow up after, but to their credit, they responded and refunded the overcharge. Would still go back, just maybe double-check the bill before leaving.

Mead & Honey Tasting Another highly recommended spot in Point Reyes! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is absolutely lovely, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We learned so much about mead during the tasting session! Theirs isn't like ordinary mead, which is typically very sweet and heavy. They are the only place that produces champagne-style mead, which is light, dry, and refreshing, with subtle aromas from the honey. Depending on the type of mead you taste, it can resemble champagne, cider, or even beer--super unique and interesting! Another thing I loved was the artwork on the bottles. Each flower on the label represents the type of honey used, and every single design is beautiful. I'm even repurposing the bottles as flower vases--win-win! They offer a few different tasting options: an essential tasting flight, a mead & Dandelion chocolate pairing, and, for non-alcoholic drinkers, a honey tasting. We fell in love with several honeys from different regions and ended up bringing a couple of jars home.

Unfortunately the wine was not good. It had a weird aftertaste. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's outside seating only and it was really uncomfortable on a warm/hot day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The scenery was nice but it would be only be nice for cooler days.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Because it's all outdoor open space , a lot of flies and bees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wasn't familiar with this place and the wine so I asked to staff if they could help me pick a bottle and have a better understanding of the wine and they were not helpful at all. We ended up giving up our bottle to other guests there after tasting

Can't believe I haven't tried this before! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute and relaxed mead winery, with lots of picnics tables under the trees that allows picnicking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Three of us walked in on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation and there was another table celebrating a birthday. They waive a tasting fee if you buy 3 bottles, so we got the Orange Blossom and 2 more to enjoy on the patio and to take home. They also sell cheese boxes from Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese that paired perfectly with the mead. They told us the hand drawn labels are done by the wife of the Hog Island Oyster Co owner. I think it would be a unique local gift and I'd definitely go back. The ladies at the tasting bar were incredibly accommodating and friendly.

What a gem of place to visit in Point Reyes. Upon our impromptu visit to Marin, I knew I wanted to visit a winery. Such a great find, a meadery in the Bay Area. Had a tasting for $25 which is waived when you purchase 3 bottles. The time when we went they had raw oysters for $3 the lowest around the area --- so good. Tasting bar was inviting with knowledgeable staff. As pours come in, I could walk around enjoying the garden or walk around the tasting room with honey selection and cute merch. Yup, got 3 bottles to go and looking forward to enjoying at home. I'll definitely be back.

Such a cute and fun stop on a road trip through Point Reyes. You can pick from a variety of tasting options that include 5 mead pours. My husband and I did the classic and seasonal tasting and shared. It's such a cute spot to wander around while you enjoy your tasting. I saw that some people brought picnics and even Tomales bay oysters while enjoying their mead. Definitely a spot I would return to with friends. They take reservations, but it wasn't needed. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of space and tables.

    Tiffany S.

My friend and I thought we would do a girls afternoon in Marin but everything closed by 4! Heidrun was thankfully open until 5 and was everything we wanted and more. The meads were light and bright. I felt that they were overall very floral on the nose, citrus on the tongue and with varying aftertastes. Sometimes they tasted a little bit like beer! My favorite was the California orange blossom, which happens to be their best seller. I feel that this is a great place to take seasoned wine drinkers as it's so different, but also newbies. Their meads are made with a traditional French method using honey instead of grapes. They cultivate a beautiful wildflower (or maybe just flowers?) garden so their honey bee colonies can thrive. Their honey bees are hard at work making so many varietals for honey and mead! I was blown away by their garden, which was everything. Gorgeous inside and out. Idyllic, picturesque, rustic - such a vibe. Everyone was so nice there and I really enjoyed my time there! I was so thankful about the explanations, kindness and patience given to us. Definitely coming back with more friends to share this amazing spot and to try the honey tasting flight!

The food was outstanding and abundant and the scenery looking out on Tomales Bay was breathtaking. I don't normally drink wine but came for the olive oil and the experience and it did not disappoint! I also eventually changed my mind that red wine can be good:) We were seated indoors and Edd gave us the rundown of what we'd be tasting for the afternoon complete with stories and lots of fun facts. (I now look at any bottles that say "cold pressed" with some light skepticism since it's clearly only written there for marketing purposes!) We ordered a selection of the panini sandwiches, the burrata and butternut squash salad, and the charcuterie board. The fire cheese was delicious and the spread was perfect. Throughout lunch, Edd brought us different wines to taste and by the end we were most definitely sold on the Stone Soup (the red version). The olive oil tasting was so much fun. First of all the bread was so delicious. And then we tasted about 15 (?) different olive oils or vinegars. The raspberry, lemon, and garlic ones were clear favorites. My personal favorites were the garlic and sage. Even though it was a bit of a rainy & cloudy day, the views from the patio were beautiful. We finished our wine out by the fire pit outside, and now I really need to come back during the summertime when the skies are more clear for the full experience. I left with lots of olive oil and great Christmas gifts for the family. The four piece olive oil sets are perfect for that and I brought one home for my family and we did our own inspired mini taste testing (I still miss Trattore's bread tho). 10/10 recommend and yes I definitely want to come back for the summer views and this pizza oven I keep reading in all the other reviews:))
