Living in Sonoma County we've been to our fair share of wineries, but this one takes the cake! Amazing wine, stellar views in a peaceful setting, but what really set them apart was their incredible hospitality. The owners are the most kind people I've ever met, and my husband and I enjoyed having great conversations with both of them. If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing, family owned type vibe this is your spot! P.S. They love your dog friends too!

This venue is a dream if you're looking for a rustic, flexible blank canvas. The team was always welcoming--we were invited to visit multiple times and ask all the questions we needed. Everything went smoothly, and it really let us bring our wedding vision to life. Pro tip: be sure to plan for trash stations and someone to monitor them. As long as it's all bagged, the venue takes care of the haul-away! *Preview photos by Skyler Maire Photography

This winery is a must see when in Petaluma. There is a lot of outdoor space, perfect for friends, families and kids. There is seating with tables on the patio and also benches with umbrella shade on the lawn. We did the tasting - the team here is knowledgeable and timed the tasting so well. We also ordered a cheese plate which included favourites and some newer cheeses to try. We will definitely be back. A welcoming winery and great afternoon.

My husband and I were visiting Petaluma this weekend and stumbled upon Reis river ranch vineyards. Upon entering my husband said "where did you bring me??" As it seemed like the place was open but nobody was home except a dog and some cats running around. However, we heard voices coming from the back patio. Once we stick our heads out there, the owner Dennis came right over. Welcomed us in. Pulled up a private table for my husband and I and the tasting began. 6 wines. And all delicious. You got to look out over their acres of beautiful property. Chat with the owners friends who happened to work with my husband coincidentally (we didn't realize this beforehand ). This is exactly the low key vibe we were searching for. They agreed to ship us bottles of wine back to nj upon becoming members of their club !! We got to ring the bell !! If we ever visit Petaluma again, we will be back !

Absolutely wonderful experience visiting this beautiful ranch with fine wine and even better company. Everyone from the owners to the patrons were so kind and welcoming. They took us for a tour of the ranch and even sell grass fed beef. I left a wine club member and will be back more often!

Gorgeous family owned ranch that offers wine tastings as well as home made burgers. Dennis and his wife were very hospitable and it was the best experience we could have hoped for. The prices are worth it if you spend some time there, walk around, see the cats, meet new people, and enjoy the view of the vineyard and the hills.

If you're looking for a family owned and run beautiful winery, full of history, family fun, and great wines than look no further! Based right off the 101 and located within the hills of Petaluma! This was the first time I've visited on the new year 2022 and it was an experience to never forget! From the beginning Reis River Ranch Vineyard extended a hospitable welcoming from Deborah Reis herself! Not to mention the charcuterie board hand crafted, and all grass fed beef from the property's cattle which was one of the most mouthwatering burgers all throughout Sonoma County! With endless views and amazing wines you cannot pass up the opportunity to visit this location! Thank you Reis family for the fun, cannot wait to visit again and bring more friends and family! P.S- they're dog friendly as well!!!

I love exploring new places so I can get a first hand experience in order to share with others and at Reis River Ranch Vineyards, which opened this past year, I am happy to report this new winery and tasting room is a place that deserves to be discovered and celebrated by wine lovers from around the world. Where else can you get to experience a working horse farm and winery in the same location? Not many and this fact is just one of many that makes Reis River Ranch Vineyards stand out among all of the numerous wineries that continue to dot the Petaluma Gap area made up of vineyards and other farms. I came to Reis River Ranch Vineyards thanks to another Yelp Elite Patricia S. who invited me here as she is a native of Petaluma and has had her eye on this new local winery since it opened this past January. Owners Dennis and Deborah have been at this location along the Petaluma Boulevard South exit off of Highway 101 for the past five years, and thankfully there is now easy access to get to their new home since the new road opened a few years ago. When we arrived when they opened at 11 a.m. on a Sunday afternoon, Dennis and Deborah welcomed us as if we were lifelong friends, giving us a tour of their vast property, which includes hiking trails, lakes for fishing, meadows for picnics, a working stable with both cows and horses, and of course their newly built tasting room, which serves as a cozy hideaway with a view of grazing horses and a play area for visitors with children to enjoy. Dennis has been involved with horses and horsemanship for his entire life, and they have a horse ranch in nearby Penngrove for over thirty-six years. This property where Reis River Ranch Vineyards now resides took four years just to get the right permits and now after being open for roughly five months they already have over one hundred and fifty members of their wine club. Their nephew serves as their winemaker and his is very particular of the wines that go into every bottle and it shows as the four wines we sipped on were lush with bold flavors. Our first sip was their 2019 Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc, and is barreled in steel, and is what Deborah called their "porch pounder" as it goes down smooth and one can finish a bottle in no time flat. Our second pour was their 2019 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, which has been aged for over four months, and Dennis proudly boasted that it has gotten better with time as it wasn't buttery at all. Our third pour was my personal favorite, their 2018 Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir, which was grown only a few miles from here, I loved the lush flavors that weren't too overpowering on the palate and paired really nicely with little Ghirardelli chocolate squares they shared with us for a sumptuous pairing. I loved our generous pours so much that I bought a bottle for a reasonable thirty-six dollars. Our fourth and final pour was their 2018 Sonoma Valley Syrah, which is called their winemaker's wine and it too had a nice finish to it thanks to the grapes too being sourced from the nearby Petaluma Gap. After our wine tasting, Dennis and Deborah were nice enough to give us both a walking tour of their barn and a driving tour of their vast property. There are not many tasting rooms in the region where you can get a wine tasting and feed a newborn calf but that's exactly what we experienced as Debora showed us a heifer that was born just forty-eight hours before. Then Dennis took us on a drive via four cart so he could show all of their spectacular hill top views of the Petaluma River, various wetlands, old oak trees, vast open pastures, grazing horses and cows and other wildlife, which was a really nice way to spend an afternoon following a wonderful wine tasting. It was nice to be able to experience and learn about Dennis and Deborah's journey in turning their property into living their dream. The goal is to start to grow grapes for their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on their property as their first estate grown should be bottled sometime next year, which is exciting. The fact that tastings cost only fifteen dollars is remarkable and the tours that we went on normally cost twenty-five dollars but they were nice enough to not charge us for this extra experience. They even host their Eqwine Time Club members (get it?) for a night's stay at the cabin they have on property where they can take in the atmosphere, the views and simply enjoy life. At Reis River Ranch Vineyards of Sonoma County they got a real hidden gem here and I can't wait for them to be discovered by more oenophiles, just not too fast as I don't selfishly want things to get too crowded here before my return visit!

Play area for kids. Can hang with horses too

Very nice and chill place. Very family friendly. Just got back after taking my Dad and 2 year old and had a great time. They are just getting started and will be wonderful to see them build on such amazing foundations

Moreover, this ranch is also not very noticeable to international tourists. We found it because during the New Year's holiday, many places are closed. So we googled this place while we were staying at the Hampton Inn Petaluma. We are from San Luis Obispo, California. There are many olive oil farms nearby. We not only visited the farms but also tasted the olive oil at a little fee or sometimes even for free.

My adoring sidekick and I were invited to a private wine tasting and that experience poured straight into our memory like a perfectly decanted dream. Gary Brooks himself was there, the soft-spoken sorcerer behind Brooks Note Winery. His wines didn't whisper, they sang. Balanced. Elegant. Honest. The kind of Pinot that makes your boots buckle and your palate perk up like a hound on the trail. Somewhere between the third pour and the second "this is amazing," he told us we should stop by if we were ever in California. So, like any pair of polite Texans with a thirst for the finer things in life, we showed up. And let me tell you: the Brooks Note tasting room in Petaluma is a rustic-modern temple to the wine gods. The exposed beams, gleaming ductwork, and warm wood details make you want to cozy up and swirl your glass. It's the kind of place where your taste buds grow up and your Instagram feed gets a glow-up. We had reservations for a late afternoon tasting and were greeted by none other than Lucy, the softest, fluffiest winery pup in California. She strolled over like she owned the place, and honestly, I think she does. My adoring sidekick gave her the full greeting: head rub, affirming tone, instant friendship secured. Then came the Pinot Flight Tasting Menu, a five-part aria of California terroir: * 2022 Monroe Vineyard: Fruit-forward with a hint of the forest floor, like autumn bottled and ready to dance. * 2023 Russian River Valley: Silky as a tuxedoed lounge singer. Red fruit, spice, and grace. * 2022 Weir Vineyard: Earthy, old-soul depth. The kind of wine that feels like it remembers the first time someone planted vines in California. * 2023 Petaluma Gap: Cool, coastal, and fresh like ocean wind meeting orchard breeze. * 2022 Panther Ridge: Lush, structured, with a finish so long it could anchor a ballad. We were mid-way through the second glass when Gary appeared like a magician stepping onstage after the opening act. He welcomed us, remembered Fort Worth, and then proceeded to give us the full behind-the-scenes tour: the tasting room, the barrel room stacked high with rich oak dreams (no clue what kind of wood, but it smelled like wine-soaked heaven), and the metal vats where fermentation magic bubbles into being. It's one thing to drink a wine. It's another to see its origin story. We eventually made our way back to the table, finished our tasting, then slipped into that late afternoon golden glow. Before leaving, my wife said her goodbyes to Lucy with the kind of fondness usually reserved for lifelong friends or the last bite of a perfect dessert. We didn't take any bottles with us because we already had some back home in Texas. As we stepped outside into the California sun, I said, "Their wine bottles don't gather dust, they disappear gracefully after dinner." My wife rolled her eyes and muttered, "You're aging like wine, all right. Getting drier by the year." She's not wrong. Final thought? This is the kind of tasting that doesn't end when you leave the building. It lingers in your memory like a perfectly aged vintage. TL;DR: Petaluma charm meets Pinot perfection. Balanced, elegant wines served in a spacious, welcoming room. Lucy the wine pup deserves her own label. Gary Brooks delivers not only extraordinary wine, but an unforgettable experience. The only thing smoother than the Pinot is my wife's way of saying, "That's enough, dear." Brooks Note isn't a stop, it's a chapter worth savoring. Bonus Dad Joke: What did the grape say when it got stepped on? Nothing. It just let out a little wine... but probably not as gracefully as a Brooks Note Pinot.
