Mitch and Joy were wonderful hosts and so fun to "talk shop"' with about wine, family, life during a pandemic, and all other matters of the heart. My husband and I sampled various wines (and then some) from their flight menu and enjoyed a yummy, perfectly-proportioned cheese plate. We brought our little dog with us who was treated very well. We enjoyed several of the wines we ended up purchasing, particularly the Estate Sparking Chardonnay, Queen's Gambit Pinot Noir 2017, and En Passant Pinot Noir 2016. We will return! read more

Lovely tasting room with excellent service, full of personality. Had a 6 person group in the back room for a delicious tasting on a rainy day. I am an avid wine taster so I am naturally very excited for any wine tasting rooms in Petaluma. The tasting was $20 but there are two for one tasting cards floating around out there. We had a good time and the wine was not the best, but also not the worst. The biggest negative for me was the ambiance. It was a very cold feeling winery, with strange electric violin music playing. While our initial experience and impression was quite favorable, and spurred my husband and I to sign up for a quarterly delivery of Black Knight mixed varietals, I am now writing to say we feel scammed. Our initial visit was August 7 2022. We paid around $250 for our first delivery, and were told it would arrive in September/October. It did not. In December 2022, my husband wrote to inquire. No response. We have subsequently written and left voicemails every quarter. No response. I sure wish they'd honor their customers purchase and... let's see... send us what we paid for? respond to our inquiry about it? Anyhow. I had a wonderful time in this downtown Petaluma tasting room! There is space outside to social distance, and your host is sure to wear a mask. Heidi was very personable and knowledgeable!! She gave us side by sides and told us some of her favorite pairings with some of our favorite wines. The indoor space is very comfortable and airy. Lots of old wood and nature aspects brought in. Some of my personal wine favorites were the Petillant Sparkling Chardonnay, the Queen's Gambit 2016 Pinot Noir, and the top-of-the-line Dragon's Back Pinot Noir. The prices are very fair for the quality of wine. Getting a good Pinot Noir at $40 is a yes in my book! If I had some marketing tips to give, I would advise to rename/rebrand the "Sparkling Chardonnay" to something like "Sparkling Blanc" or "Petillant-Naturel White Sparkling". People who tend not to like still, California Chardonnay will be turned off by the name "Sparkling Chardonnay". (Even though the best of us know it's the only white grape used in true Champagne-- just a thought.) Loved the warm, inviting experience provided by my host! Great wines! Great prices! Black Knight Vineyards was okay. I tasted about 5 wines I believe and I only really enjoyed 1 or 2. The serve was alright, she was nice but I wish she knew more about the wine to tell me about it because it was a tasting. I think it's worth a stop if you're in the area but it wasn't anything spectacular. read more

Some girlfriends and I went in for a tasting. We ordered the sparkling flight. The owner, Mitch, poured for us. We talked about the flavors and aromas of the sparkling. He then open another varietal for us to compare. He continued to pour additional tastes from off the list we were paying for. When it came time to pay our tab, he told us we owed for all those other pours. He never once asked us if we wanted to sample from the other varietals, we just thought he was bragging about his wines. Beware of extra pours, they aren't free! read more

What a lovely find. My date and I were wandering around downtown Petaluma and decided to stop in at this tasting room. I'm in the wine industry, but this was my first time trying their wines. The tasting room had a very relaxed vibe and the wines were nice and light; I mostly drink bubbly, white wines, and Pinot Noir, but even the Malbec was nice and smooth. We came in on a mellow day and had a good time until the hostess/owner was negligent with 2 of our groups pour. when asked she posed it as a choice for more drinks by the glass when the tasting was not finished. I've worked wineries and restaurant management for years. This place is a hidden gem! I happened to find it one day while wandering around downtown Petaluma and I'm so glad I did. They just redid the interior and it looks amazing and I can't wait to bring people to visit once quarantine is over. The interior is decorated with several beautiful chess boards and armor to match the theme of the brand label. The owner, Lexi, is amazing! She took the time to get to know us and talk to us about the wines in a way that wasn't overbearing and uptight like some other tasting rooms can be and I felt like I learned a lot. Not only does she manage the tasting room, but she oversees the production of the wine from Vine to bottle to the tasting room, and if that wasn't impressive enough, she also did the interior construction and decoration herself! Such an amazing place with great wine, I can't wait to go back more often. The Rook Chardonnay is a can't miss in my opinion, and I will be going back regularly now that they are starting to serve food. read more

We recently visited this tasting room. The attendant was friendly, but the wines were, to our mind, below standard for Sonoma County. One of the selections he poured was oxidized; it tasted like it had been open for 2 - 3 days at least, and if not, then it was a flawed wine to begin with. We bought a couple of bottles of the better wines, to avoid completely wasting our tasting fee, but we probably won't return to this tasting room. read more
