A friend and I went in the other night for dinner. We both wanted chicken strips, however I wanted the whole meal and the other person in the party wanted just chicken strips. I was going to give her my salad and she just wanted a side order of two chicken strips. This request has never been an issue in the past, and every waiter and waitress has been able to work it out for us to get our meals just this way. We had a waitress the other night, however, who was awful - terrible customer service and zero ability to cater to the customer's requests. For just a side of chicken strips, she was going to charge the full $17 (the same for the full meal with fries and a salad). She said "we can't do it the other way." (Again, that is not true as multiple wait staff in the past were able to split it up like this for us). The order was wrong, the condiments were wrong (the waitress, upon realizing she forgot ketchup said, "I'll bring your ketchup" ... never did. I finally waved down a busboy and he had ketchup for us in less than 10 seconds). She checked on us but rolled her eyes when we expressed our dissatisfaction (we were never once rude) and walked off. At the front door, there's a sign that says, "If you like Heidi's, tell others. If you don't, tell us." So, we spoke to the manager on our way out. He was very unapologetic, never once offered an apology for our negative experience, never offered any money off, refund, or discount on our next visit. I have attached a picture of our meals. For $17, the chicken strips with fries was insulting. I cannot see myself returning in the future and if I do, I won't be sitting in Allie's section. read more

Has been the same for a very long time and it's like going back in time when I was a kid. Kinda pricey but the food is good

On multiple occasions we have gone for takeout orders and they have forgotten food. This time we ordered through GrubHub and when we got the food we were missing multiple items, One of which was an entire meal. This place is definitely not going to be recommended by our family. Or if you do go, make sure you check your food before you leave the building. GrubHub did what they could to fix it by giving us a refund on the food we were not given. This is the second time in two weeks we have ordered food from here and they have forgotten to give us items. To add to this We ordered over the phone to reorder the items we didn't get, I go to pick it up and even that was wrong. I've never had a more ridiculous experience at any restaurant I've been to. This place doesn't get my vote for a place to go on Valentines Day, or any other day for that fact. Our meal sucked, and they didn't care. Cold soup. The wifes onion soup. Weird soup, my mushroom soup with everything else except a few pieces of mushroom. My meal (the fish) looked good covered in a light sauce, until I noticed it was burned black and flipped over so I wouldn't notice. I informed the waitress and she said the manager would be right over. We never saw the manager. They comped the burned fish and charged me $23.00 for cold soup and the soup that was included with my dinner. If you're thinking of trying this place I recommend avoiding them. Any kitchen that hides burned food doesn't get my business. read more

I came in for breakfast early on Sunday morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good, classic diner breakfast options. I had the chicken fried steak and added a pancake. Not super crowded this morning and a nice calm way to start the day. The gift shop is fun too. The interior was well lit, airy and clean. read more

My husband and I were driving trying to find a new restaurant and I seen the sign and we came in. The building is beautiful and the gift shop was amazing. You don't see gift shops in restaurants very often anymore. Anyway we were greated and seated and another lady took our oder. She was on point because she served my dinner salad promptly and not even 3 minutes after I finished she brought out our dinner. My husband and I are truly amazed! I happened to stop at this spot when I was waiting for my car to get fixed at the Gresham Dodge dealer. I found Heidi's and decided to go there, I felt like the outcast in there, a Brazilian guy inside a fun filled German like establishment. For a moment I thought I was gonna be asked to leave lol Upon entering the place I got greeted by a friendly hostess, she asked me how many and I simply smiled and said just myself. She took me to table 4(she got told by an older lady to take me to table 4) I was more than okay with table 4. Barbara was my waitress, at first she came and offered coffee, she prolly never seen an alien before haha but she was very nice and friendly! I got the Dungeness crab omelet and it was DELICIOUS!!! The decor was nice, it's very German, very Western Europe feeling. I really liked it!! I love beers and sausage along with warm potato salad! :) I couldn't believe how good that staff was, I was feeling pretty comfortable actually after a few minutes of being there, Barbara did make me feel welcome in there. Originally we were headed to another restaurant down the street but were told they were closed, although their sign said they were not closed for another 40 minutes. Lucky for us, we found Heidi's (who also closed at 9pm). Welcomed with smiles and great services. Food was hot and delicious and huge portions! We have eaten here for years, but yesterday were shocked by the number of customers and staff members not wearing medical face masks. We work within the medical pyramid and find this practice to be life threatening. Oregon is going to run out of hospital beds and medical staff to treat the steadily increasing numbers of patients infected with COVID-19 and the Delta mutated variant. It remains our greatest disappointment when witnessing so many Oregonians demonstrating this potentially lethal selfishness that negatively impacts the lives of other human beings. Service is not generally the issue. The last two times we have eaten at Heidi's, my food has been on the cold side. I had a BLT in which only one slice of the toast was toasted, I actually sent that back to be remade. Then for dinner on 10/24/23 I ordered the hot roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes & gravy, it was not hot It was barely warm. I just ate it. We have been frequenting Heidi's for years, and often take others with us. Our granddaughter calls it "our place" she loves to go have breakfast . We went to Heidi's today. We ordered a single martini and soda. We ordered a 6oz sirloin med. Rare and prime rib med rear. We received martini and clam chowder soup and the waitress spilled up the martini on my thigh and leg. The 6 Oz sirloin was tough and could not chew it. Left half of it behind too hard to chew. We told the waitress Susan this. We assumed due to spill-of the martini on my right thigh and leg that something would have been color but we were offered a dessert. We ended up paying full price for drink and meal. We won't be going back there for 1 yr and try to find another restaurant that serves prime rib. We are disappointed in our diner! read more

What is better than a Bavarian themed restaurant and waitresses dressed in dirndls (name of the October fest Bavarian dresses)? Not a whole lot! We decided to change it up and eat somewhere new. Every time we ate at Heidis it was with a large group and we just didn't get the same service enjoyment. It's been a few years and thought we would give it a try. We pulled up to see a very full parking lot. Shockingly, we were seated in a booth promptly. Of course, only two of us. That's always easier than 12 people. A few minutes went by and our host got our drink orders to help the waitress out. She was right there lickety split! We ordered a Bavarian Waffle Combo with strawberry fruit and whip cream and eggs Benedict. My waffle was not as huge as some of those Bavarian ones can be but was still a nice size. What does matter is the sugary strawberry topping and the REAL whip cream. It was delicious. I ordered scrambled eggs and yes they were scrambled and warm, with crispy bacon. They really crisped that bacon for me. In future, I won't ask for extra crispy. I believe it comes crispy already. My husband was pleased with his eggs Benedict. As he is a yelper, I won't review his meal for him. My coffee was filled quickly. The waitress was delightful. I'm guessing she has been serving at Heidis for a long time. This is an old school diner with decor that gave off a Pennsylvania Dutch vibe but only has a few German and Swiss dishes on the menu. I've been here twice. I really liked the cabbage rolls which are huge (one is enough). The gift shop is great too and is a good source for Postcrossing postcards. Here's a clue banquet rooms are to be either closed off or don't seat others next to them. They don't care and even try to force others back there when they had many booths available in front. Haven't been here in years so thought we would give them a try. Dinner was a mess do to the waitress poor service. First she brought us someone's else's dinner. It had coated shrimp ours had oysters. We argued with her that those are shrimp not oysters. She didn't know the difference! You could see the tails. Then would forget to bring us utensils and creamer. When she brought the checks she put our drinks on our friends ticket and one of their meals on ours. Kept switching the tickets with us saying it's good all the while we're explaining it to her. She thought that was somehow ok and would just work it's self out. Thus the manager had to come to the table and resolve the issue. The food was mediocre at best. Desert was good. Overpriced, bland food with rude service. I got the prime rib, which is pretty hard to mess up. It tasted odd but I was starving so I finished most of it. The mashed potatoes were awkwardly sweet tasting. My wife got chicken fried steak and it was soggy and cold. Tasted like a Hungry Man frozen TV dinner. We tried to flag down our server and repeatedly ignored us. Couldn't even get a single refill. We ended up walking to the front and they at least refunded the chicken fried steak.
