I got the city breakfast, it's simple but filling and delicious. They also have sandwiches if you're in the mood for something different :)

The paninis with turkey and cheese (Charleston) were made fresh to order. So was the Greek salad. Located in a cozy end of Pioneer Plaza, Heidi's serves breakfasts and lunches that are excellent. The prices are extremely reasonable too. You're missing out if you don't check out this deli. They offer catering for gatherings too. Breads are also available to take home for other meals. What a great choice in downtown Honolulu. You can sit at the surrounding tables nearby or take it home/back to work.Don't miss!

5/23/24 Omelette- bacon mushroom and cheddar cheese $11.43.

5/23/2024 It has been 7 years since I had their omelette and it is still as good as I remember it. It is the same cook and she remembers how I like it down to the ingredients. She is the best and I think is the driving force of what keeps this business afloat!!! Yep, she walked away for a minutes and existing workers could not assist customers.

The Lox on Everything is pure perfection. A generous amount of cream cheese; capers smashed in. Fresh, thick slices of tomato, smoked salmon, white onion. Slapped on a freshly toasted everything bagel--then cut in half with the halves wrapped separately!!! Such thoughtful composition and yet with the tinge of improvisation. $9.65. Cheaper than Morning Brew, Sure Shot, and other places that don't do it as well. Always a morning delight when I'm in this part of town. They do breakfast 7-10 am, Monday to Friday.

Heidi's is located on the first floor of the Pioneer Plaza on the Merchant St. side of the building. Heidi's offers a decent selection of sandwiches and breakfast plates. I ordered the Heidi's Eggs Benedict for a little over $7. Instead of Canadian bacon, Heidi's substitutes in a generous portion of thinly sliced ham, turkey, and a single bacon strip (YUM!). Portion wise, this has to be one of larger eggs benedict I've eaten. Heidi's has potential to be a solid 4 star secret for downtowners, and I will return...

Heidi's eggs Benedict! I like it a lot, yum yumm lol

Tough time of the year, lots of folks take off... was sooo happy to grab a couple of mixed boxes and mochi. Nice to talk to folks excitedly talking about what to get and people watching. Regulars know the score, best bang is start with a combo box and ADD ON your favoties. It's easy to get carried away picking from scratch and end up with a $30 box. da Grub: It's consistently GREAT and SAME year after year. Being of mixed race, I've been exposed to many cultures within my own family. So long story short, Fukuya has been around since the 1930's and I've stopped by countless times over the years. Not my favorite Okazuya, but definitely one of the busiest with one of the largest selections! Authentic, convenient, & open before 5am! In the end, I highly recommend Fukuya for those that live in Hawaii with roots that go back generations to the plantation days. Heck, I'd recommend to just about anyone who loves simple picnic foods that our grandparents once enjoyed. Not much has changed over the years except the bright building and prices. They've also put down more markers for customer parking which has been helpful in picking up food from here. The line can be long at times but they keep it moving quickly once you get inside. Hubs and I started dabbling beyond our usual kalbi and garlic chicken combo and crunchy garlic with tater tots. We tried a new addition to their menu: poké nachos. I've seen these elsewhere on island but their wontons are freshly fried, spiced with furikake, and don't feel too heavy. It's a nice vehicle to eat their poke and comes with Taegu as well as crab and seaweed salad. Did I have it twice in one week? Also yes. Their fish patties are moist and flavorful. Can't go wrong with their poke selection, good mouthfeel, fresh fish, and flavors are delicious. The energy here is fast paced and all the workers are kind/ answer questions. Will definitely be trying more tastes from here.

OMG --- the price/lb is less where we live but it' not as fresh. Tanioka's is organized if you're patient and willing to wait in line which almost everyone is. I'm not sure if I like so much merchandise from other businesses attracting us while waiting in line. The space is already small. The ambiance could be improved by downsizing on local merchandise. We are standing in line to purchase poke not other stuff. Consider refreshing that space. Service has always been good.

5 Stars plus! If…read moreyou're not a fan of long reviews, please stop reading and just book Kuoha Culinary right away...there are so many wonderful things to say here. We selected Kuoha Culinary for a small family Celebration of Life for our dad. Chef Ed is so kind and easy to work with. He's busy and he secured our date upon initial communication and assured me he'd provide a preliminary proposal within a few weeks. Here's how I described our catering goals for Ed: Hoping for a fusion of local style comfort foods in an elevated style, fine restaurant quality but "not overly fancy" with several protein options and several veggie options. 2 vegetarian guests, not sure if we need dessert catered. Having never booked catering before, I based our budget on previous restaurant celebrations and gave Ed a very, very wide price per head range and told him I'd prefer if we didn't get too close to the higher end of our price range. As promised, Ed returned with a preliminary proposal and it was lower in price than I expected and included more dishes than I had thought we'd get. Ed recommended drop off service as being the most cost effective and easy option for our event. I requested changes to all three entrees and added a few vegetables and the price remained excellent due to my changes balancing each other out. In our phone consultation, Ed answered my questions clearly, concisely, and confidently. For each case where I asked Ed which of 2 or 3 dishes he recommended, he was able to understand my question and kindly offer his recommendation and he was spot on. Never once did he say the dreaded "it's a matter of personal preference". He just knew what would work best and humbly shared his knowledge and experience. I told Ed my mom doesn't really eat Lup Cheong and he said, trust me she won't notice it and it adds so much to the dish ("Local Boy" En Papillote). Sure enough, mama raved about the fish. I asked him a question about 2 different beef dishes and he explained why the dish he recommended was a better fit for drop off catering. I debated to myself about going with Ed's desserts or getting/making our own, I'm not a big dessert person. Ended up going with Ed and requested an assortment of 3 desserts rather than one, great decision because Ed's desserts were a hit. I was so impressed with my initial interactions with Ed that I was referring people to Kuoha Culinary before I even tasted the food! Fast forward to event date: Ed arrived 15 min ahead of his proposed arrival time. He texted my contact friend and me of his ETA. He politely declined our guests' offers of help and he got everything set up beautifully! Received the most compliments ever on our food! We've had many get togethers with the same people and this food experience surpassed those at previous restaurants and event venues, even the fancy ones. Guests were exclaiming raving about the quality and variety (not exaggerating) complimenting every single dish from appetizers to main dishes to veggies, to the rice to the desserts! Yes, even the humble corn and Hapa rice got rave reviews...seriously! People were scanning chef's QR code and reading aloud about the business at the table (a first) and were so grateful and genuinely wowed. The dishes that were most complimented were the Local Boy Fish En Papillote, Ahi Tataki and the mini tart desserts: Lilikoi Crème Brûlée, Ube Cream, Chef Ed's Chocolate with Haupia The quality was better than the type of restaurant where they give you a deck of cards-sized protein on a plate, with quantity being better than places where you need 2 hands to carry your plate lunch. Best combination ever! Our guests made generous plates to go. I even scraped the sauces into ziplocs to freeze for helping with my own cooking. Hours after the meal and into the next day, people were saying how much they enjoyed everything. The next day, my cousin expressed for the second time how impressed he was with Ed's ability to keep all food at the perfect temperature, texture and consistency. Kuoha Culinary surpassed our goals going beyond merely "impressing" our guests and achieved something even more meaningful: Our guests felt honored, grateful, and joyful. Thank you, Chef Ed, for helping make our celebration so special!
