A long overdue thank you to Hei Norge Cleaners for your outstanding quality, pricing and accommodating services. We brought in several important pieces for our wedding and other special events, and they've always come out exceptional & within the timeframe given. Would not recommend to anyone. Went in with a two stains on my hoodie and were unable to get either stain out. Also higher than market average price wise. Nice enough staff, but not adequate at cleaning, which is their literal job. read more

I use this cleaner for work and they do an awesome job! They do a great job at cleaning food grease stains, grease stains from equipment, dirt, and grime; even on my white coats. They do a great job with all kinds of fabrics with great care. We have our laundry delivered and it's always on time and consistent. I've recommended this business to other people and so far everyone has been very happy with their service. highly recommend if you need dry cleaning service read more

I had 2 blouses and 1 dress where the odor did not come out of the arm pits. So I took them back within 1 week of picking the clothes up & asked that they be recleaned. The woman behind the counter told me dry cleaning does not remove odor. The smell will not come out. They refused to reclean my clothes. That's poor customer service. read more

I liked this cleaner. They were my dad's favorite and I understand why. They have a wonderful service. My comforters came back. Back when I had a corporate job, I used to bring my work clothes, jackets, and coats here. I was always satisfied. read more

Not the cheapest of places if you're looking to get collared shirts and frequently worn / washed items cleaned. You're better off finding a mom and pop cash only type of joint for those frequent visits. They've got a pretty big and fancy looking operation set up. You can drop off dry cleaning and then go take your car through Kaady Car Wash! When I came to pick up my stuff, they were getting set up with a new point of sale system which apparently all the ladies were very excited about. I came here with dresses and suit jackets. A whole pile of them after spring cleaning. The entire bill was $82.00 ... so not cheap especially if you buy a lot of clothes from H&M or Forever 21. But for nice pieces you intend to keep, not so bad: Dresses: $13.00 Jackets: $10.10 2 Piece suits: $15.40 read more

The service is great! Been a customer for over 3 years. Do not have any problem with the results and service. The only problem is coming into the parking lot. The car wash next door blocks the whole entrance to the cleaners. read more

The last time I came here to get some sweaters dry cleaned and coat sleeves altered (26 dollars for sleeve alterations), I was surprised to see that one sleeve was poorly altered and had to be re-done. Norge was nice enough to not charge me to correct the problem. I was also disappointed that they clipped off all my tags (it was a brand new coat) and that they kept the expensive hanger that came with the coat (the coat was more than 300 dollars) and replaced it with a cheap hanger. When you're getting an alteration, you expect the coat to come back the same except for the alteration you paid for. On top of that, one of my sweaters had too much chemical residue on it and caused my skin to get itchy and break into a small rash. It also smells strongly and I didn't have this problem before at Norge. Finally, to add insult to injury, I had called about my coat and a lady (not the owner) hung up on me! How rude. I don't know if this was a language problem but it was very close to the closing hour. Still, don't pick up the phone in the first place if you don't want to talk to a customer! Please! read more

My brand new black blazer from Zara bought in last week of this December, worn just twice and dropped off for wash for the first time is under no condition to be worn anymore. My expensive outwear has now sadly white lints popping out from almost all the stitch lines. Not just that they made me wait just to find out my item despite showing the receipt. First they said that it was not in the system then they said that it registered under a wrong name whereas the drop off tag I had had right name mentioned in it. Very very bad customer service and cleaning service. Please please double check and re read the reviews before dropping off your expensive attires at this store or else you will be left to regret and disheartened. read more

I REALLY ENJOY the service and the location is perfect with tons of parking, but today, when I dropped off several suits and shirts for dry cleaning and altering, I noticed that in the BLAZING HEAT outside and INSIDE the establishment, that all the fans and air conditioning units that lined the interior of the store's-ceiling were OFF!!! When I asked the staff why the ceiling fans and units were off, they said the units weren't working right now but that they had floor fans. This is pretty outrageous- the owners need to FIX the units or turn them on, if they are NOT broken (if they are just trying to conserve energy.) I've been a long time customer at this establishment and the previous owners kept the interior cool when it was hot outside. Please fix this problem!!!! This is WOULD BE a five star review, because the owners are hard working AND VERY ACCOMMODATING with rush job requests! read more

Unlike Katherine Heigl in "27 Dresses," my collection of dresses -- albeit not bridesmaids dresses, are my most prized possessions. I've even been known to throw a couple of favorites into a carry-on before a flight, for fear of baggage theft or losses. Dress theft? It's happened. Burning building? I'm taking my dresses with me. You won't find me carelessly shoving my dresses into a closet. Instead, they're each carefully pressed, placed on individual hangers, and organized by color -- before being cross referenced and categorized by season and sleeve length. Obsessive? Just wait until you see my underwear drawer. Unfortunately I can't say the same thing about my eating habits. Especially at 3 AM and when tempted by a hot dog from Top Dog -- I'll take mustard and sauerkraut please. That freshly toasted bun, warm salty meat, spicy and sour blend of toppings, that crisp snap of the first bite that blends salty, spicy, and sour together. Delish. Delicious, until you realize you have hot grease dripping down your chin, and onto your brand new silk dress. Your purple silk summer dress that with its unique longer angled straps can also be categorized as winter chic, making it doubly important. Panic. Fleeting thoughts of trepidation. Full blown hysteria. Is it too late to exchange it for a new one? Claim the stain was already there? Didn't Mom mention something about using Sweet'N Low on grease stains? Does that even work? Does anyone have any Sweet'N Low??? "Mom!" I cried into my phone, "hot dog exploded all over my dress!" The silence on the other end of the phone was almost palpable. Any number of things were going through her mind -- and rightfully so. Luckily she went with the latter thought. "The food?" she calmly asked. Gross. Of course the food. Jesus, Mom, I don't know what kind of partying you did in your time, but... "Yes, the food." Enter Norge cleaners in Albany. Maybe it was because of all the positive reviews I read on Yelp, or because I was at the time swooning over a Norwegian, but I decided to place all of my trust in Norge's fateful hands. Calming me down, the kind people at Norge had me carefully mark out all of the spots that needed attending to, and with that my dress was whisked away. "Hot dog grease?" they asked, "no problem." Thank you Norge cleaners. My dress will live to see another day -- but hopefully not another hot dog. read more

I brought in a dress to have it altered, and a week later it still hadn't been done, and looked like it wouldn't be done in time for my brother-in-law's event. Norge Cleaners is just the best dry cleaners in the Berkeley-Albany-El Cerrito nexus! I've used them since 1988 or 1989, and I have never received less than excellent, prompt, reliable and friendly service. In addition to normal dry cleaning and laundry service, they do creative repairs, they do rugs ... and they deliver, for free! By the way, the owner's name is Jan, and in the last few years her sister, Jennifer, has come to work with her. Jan and Jennifer are not twins, nor would I ever dream of describing them as "old women"! (You must be very young, Angela, to refer to these lovely women in that less-than flattering manner.) I would say that Jan and Jennifer are in their late 50s, but they are both slim, attractive, and stylish. They in no way fit the image of "old women"! read more

Norge is clean, friendly and run by a pair of old women that I think might be twins. They do your standard dry cleaning, they do repairs, they stitch leather, they'll stitch your stuffed animals, they'll even tuck in your oversized jeans - all within a neat 1-3 day span. Angela loves Norge. read more

They do such a wonderful job and I trust them. They have moved from Albany to El Cerrito.

Norge is so great because it is one of the only environmentally-friendly clothing cleaners around. They have a "wetcleaning" option that is free of perchloroethylene. It costs the same or less than I used to pay when I lived in SF. While I do not go to Norge very often because I lack the fancy clothes that require special cleaning, they have done a wonderful job on my suits on the occasions that I've needed them. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE!! The first time I took a coat and something else in to be dry cleaned. Not only did they look fab when I got them back they had tightened the buttons on the jacket, no charge. How sweet. I went back with two coats to be dry cleaned and to have buttons tightened. And then two pairs of pants that needed taking up. If I remember correctly it was only about 10$ for each pair of pants to be taken up, woohoo. The total bill for all of it was 68$, which was a bit more than I was expecting but to be fair I haven't gone to a lot of dry cleaners. My mum seemed to think this reasonable so I trust her judgment and say for all your dry cleaning and tailoring needs come here! They are professional, quick, and very good at what they do. You shall not be disappointed!! read more

They are not two dollar signs as indicated. This place is overpriced and extremely expensive. Should be listed as 4 dollar signs! almost every item coat almost $9 including tax just for basic dry cleaning. the only excuse the owner offered was that their rent was $8000 per month. They are too disorganized to warrant that price. No one should spend the price of airplane tickets or cable every year to have their clothes cleaned. read more

NEVER take your clothes here for alterations!!! I can't speak to their dry cleaning services but they just ruined a pair of my pants. I needed some jeans patched up and it's almost comical what a terrible job they did. Wish I had never gone here because now I have to buy a new pair of jeans. They need a new tailor. read more

I had no issues with my clothes at Norge Cleaners. Sometimes the Great American Dry Cleaners can't guarantee my clothes will be available the next day so I take it to Norge. Both are great. I trust both businesses. Norge Cleaners is located next to the car wash. Good to have options. read more

My daughter had gotten the hem of her wedding dress quite dirty at the wedding, so i took it to my regular cleaner the following Monday. It looked exactly the same when I picked it up. In fact, they'd accidentally spread some of the double-sided tape adhesive onto the bodice of the dress. They basically said because the material was too delicate, there was nothing they could do to get it any cleaner (a waste of $20!). I called a local wedding dress shop and they recommended Norge Cleaners. I picked up the dress today and was really happy with their work. The adhesive is gone and the hem is completely clean. Norge Cleaners really saved the day. I'm so relieved because before I felt the dress was ruined. I highly recommend Norge Cleaners! read more

UPDATE 7/14/18 Once again, Norge fails! I took a cotton jacket in to have a new zipper put on. Im on a time crunch as I'm moving out of state tomorrow. Was told it would be ready today. Twice I've received back clothing that has not been cleaned properly. This were not difficult stains or anything, just basic, normal superficial food stains and the like. One particular associate didn't bother marking the stain when I showed it to her and I was concerned it would get missed but didn't want to tell her how to do her job. Then when I called about this having happened twice they got defensive and made excuses. Then I asked to speak to the manager and they said they would have them call me. No one called me back. Yesterday I went to get my freshly Norge cleaned dress to put on and there was a hug rip at the neckline(!) What the heck is going on here?! I haven't needed to use dry cleaning much until now so I'm not sure what to expect entirely. I wasn't expecting to have to babysit people who I pay to do the job. Dry cleaning is expensive and a hassle to drop off and pick up without having to worry if the personnel are creating more work and more expenses for you. read more

Norge Cleaners is simply the best! I've used them almost weekly for about 18 months and their service has been flawless. In all that time, I have never even had a button missing from a shirt (very unusual for most laundries). They have a bag service - which allows you to simply drop off your bag and leave the store (they check it in later), and they will pickup and deliver to your house if you are within their servicing area. I used that a lot! An additional convenience is that you can set up an account with your Credit Card on file, and they will simply charge your account every few weeks, so there is no need to pay every time you pick-up. Lastly, there are never any communication difficulties, like you sometimes encounter at other shops. Everyone who works there appears to be fluent in English. As far as I am concerned, Norge is the "gold standard" for dry cleaners. read more

I took in a very old wedding dress of my mother's and matching jacket to be bleached and dry cleaned. I had to really call around for somewhere that does bleaching. Jan did a nice job on this and kept me up to date on the progress while she tested the fabric. The total cost was very reasonable, and they gave me a bag to keep the dress in until the ceremony. -1 star for not being able to do my requested alteration on site (I was told to see a tailor - they could only do "simpler" alterations I suppose). The store is not close to me (30 min drive), so based on the research I'd done, I was hoping to get all the work done there (their website says "cleaners and alterations"). read more

I picked up my Max Mara brown cotton dress from the El Cerrito location today. I was sorry they blamed me for the discolorations on the front and did not offer to fix the dress. We have been using this cleaners exclusively for a while. We will not return and I will ask my family not to use them either. Sorry. Whoever helped me said the owner suggested I spilled perfume. How could I not notice that? I use a spray on perfume and these were big blotches all down the front. It looked like a chemical discoloration. Bad form! read more

I have frequented Norge for 20+ years and had EXCELLENT prior service and quality dry cleaning. Took a set of placemats to be cleaned. When I went to pick up, they were totally distorted, shrunk and faded. When I called attention to the issues, they said they'd fix by steaming!? Today picked up and NOT much better. Found out thiese are different owners. VERY DISSATISFIED! Paid for poor cleaning. Will NOT return. read more

I haven't used too many dry cleaners in my time but I brought a bunch of stuff here years ago and remember it being a bit expensive for the number of (uncomplicated) items I had. I dropped some stuff off yesterday and I am excited to pick it up tomorrow morning. I was pleased with the girl at the front counter when I dropped off-- she was nicer and communicated with me better than the people on previous visits here. Could update to 5-stars tomorrow if my stuff looks great and doesn't break the bank. Either way, it's close to home and things are done when they say they will be done. No loss and no damage to date and that's a good record in my book! -- Okay it's tomorrow, and about the front counter girl communicating with me better? Well, I lied. I should've looked at my ticket myself to see that I shouldn't pick up my stuff before 3pm but the girl told me it would be ready Saturday. Not "Saturday after 3pm" but just "Saturday." So I came in at ~11ish and my things weren't done. I was kinda bugged but fully admit I should've read the ticket myself. If you're going to tell people the day, tell them the time, too. So, yeah. I had other things to do and still haven't picked up my stuff. Hopefully they're open on Sundays. --- NOT open on Sundays but from afar it looks like they are because the car wash people put cars in their parking spots! D'oh. Finally got my stuff back yesterday. They couldn't get out an old ink stain on a coat I have but they did a good job with everything. Considering the price, I expect nothing less. read more

I decided to try Norge Cleaners after reading the rave reviews on Yelp. I am sorry to say that I should have paid more attention to the terrible reviews instead. WILL NOT EVER GO BACK!!! I dropped 9 items off on Wednesday late afternoon and was promised that they would be ready by Friday at 3:00pm, which was completely reasonable. On Friday at 5:30pm, I arrived to pick up my items. Only 7 items were ready. One of the other items was not ready and the last was lost. Needless, to say I was not happy about it. But, I went ahead and paid my $99.95 for my 9 items, even though I only had seven items and agreed to return the next day, when I was told the other item would be finished and the last item would be found. When I got home to hang up my garments, I noticed my red silk dress had this chemical residue all over it. It looked like someone used it to dust. Not only that, but also some the black Swarovski crystals that made up the buttons had fallen out in the cleaning process!! I could not believe my eyes. Did I really just pay someone to ruin this dress? The next day I brought my dress back and showed the lady (owner I assume) the destroyed buttons and residue. The residue on the dress was completely ignored and the lady said that they should not have cleaned the dress with the buttons. Duh! She asked me to leave the dress so that she could replace the buttons. Oh, yeah like I am going to trust you with replacing these expensive buttons with buttons you pick out at some cheap fabric store! Plus, she expected me to give her another chance to screw up my dress, no thank you. And then I actually had to ASK for a refund for the dress cleaning! If this were my business I would have refunded the entire bill! Now I have to find someone to re-clean (hopefully that's possible) my dress AND replace and fix the expensive buttons, AT A COST TO ME! After getting a refund and picking up my other two items, I left, only to discover that one of the items that I picked up (sweater with small sequins) had sequins missing! I can't imagine taking my wedding dress here! I wouldn't even get my dog's sweater cleaned at this place... unless I wanted it destroyed! WILL NOT EVER GO BACK!!! read more

I've gone back a few more times since first writing my review because I haven't found a new cleaner yet. Based on recent experiences, I am deducting a star and don't plan to come back here. On two different occasions, some of my items have come back with dog hair, human hair and lint still on them. Both times, I didn't see it until I got home and unwrapped everything to hang it up in my closet (I had no reason to worry and when you're picking up more than a dozen items, it would be a hassle to unwrap everything there to check it.) After this happened once, I mentioned it to the woman who helped me the next time I went in. She said I'd have to bring the clothes back in for them to see (guess they didn't believe me) and that only the owner could refund my money; there was nothing she could do. They aren't close to my house and I usually go here right after getting off BART from work, so driving home to get the clothes, bring them back to the cleaner and then driving home was more hassle than I was willing to deal with. I let it go thinking it was just a one-time issue. At a later date, I picked up more than $100 worth of dry cleaning and come home to find several pieces still have hair and lint on them, again. I don't understand this and don't know how they justify charging so much for such careless work. The location is still inconvenient and they are extremely expensive compared to other cleaners I've tried. The last few times I've gone in, the service at the counter is lacking to say the least (the older woman I've encountered wasn't particularly friendly, and the young man who helped me recently didn't even say thank-you; "here you go" is not what you tell a customer who just handed you $100+.) I don't understand how they have 4 yelp starts; of course, I just looked at the filtered reviews at the bottom and 7 of the 11 reviews are one-star. Shocking. I'll keep looking for a better cleaner. read more

i've been a happy customer here for the past 6 yrs or so and i would not trust my clothing to any other cleaner. its reassuring to know that you can leave all your precious gowns and pricey pieces in good hands. everything always comes back perfectly pressed and like-new. it's a family run establishment, and the owners are always friendly and knowledgable. the prices are not the best, but for the quality/service you get, its worth it. they do all their work onsite and you can expect to have everything back within 2-3days. on the one rare occasion that something came back in an unexpected condition--- a jersey metallic printed custo barcelona dress that did not handle the pressing well, they offered to reimburse me for the $200 cost of the dress and i was able to go out and buy a replacement. if thats not great customer service i don't know what is! read more

The wife and I have been getting our clothes cleaned here since we moved to Emeryville in September. We take advantage of their pick-up and drop-off service that makes life so much more convenient. The employees are friendly, the price are reasonable, and they always try to squeeze me in when i call at the last minute (I mean, the van is on its way back to homebase, kind of last minute) to get clothes picked up. We had a queen sized comforter cleaned last week and it cost about 30 bucks, and the they were really apologetic that they couldn't get some of the stains out--this thing is like four years old, never been cleaned, and we have two cats--I think it looks pretty damn good. And its fluffy again. read more

I took my wedding dress here to get cleaned, since the person that cleans the dresses had just did their pick up for the day they told me that they would be back the next week. I was trying to get my dress sold fast so I came back the next morning because I wanted to take it to another place. When I came back I saw my dress just thrown over a wire hanger. My dress had a lot of beads so when I asked for it back the dress was sticking to itself. I was not happy that I saw my dress hung on the hanger that way. I also gave them the hanger to the dress but I guess they threw that out. I am glad I came back the next day because I don't know what kind of damage the wire hanger could have done to the dress if it hung on it like that for a whole week. read more
