I don't think to come to Hefner Grill that often but I'm glad we did today. We sat in a booth that overlooked the lake which was great. I wasn't that impressed with the ceviche but my salmon dish was very good. Server was attentive and good as well.

If you know Oklahoma City it is pretty much a casual place. When you drive up to the restaurant you clearly see an upscale exterior with sweeping lake views. When you walk through the doors, you are greeted by a hostess and the upscale views and interior continue. The menu is a bit smaller and drink menu was great with a decent selection of wines. The thing that makes this place different is the price point which is a bit lower than expected and that was an unexpected surprise in a good way. If you are looking for a place to eat dinner outside on a deck with a view, drop in have a delicious spinach dip and glass of Cabernet. The fish tacos were some of best in quite a while and the pecan crusted trout had great flavors and texture. This place will be on repeat

My dad loves Hal Smith restaurants but each one has a semi-limited menu. That's not a criticism since it allows them to be as consistent as possible, which is the main strength of Hal Smith restaurants. My point being that with quite a few in close proximity, there's always a no-hassle, high quality last minute option available among the Hal Smith ecosystem. Hefner Grill is not usually the first choice for us since it's mainly seafood-based and not everyone in our party may feel like seafood at any given time. However, it's definitely become one of our "mix things up" choice when we are undecided on other options. Over the years, we've tried at least 50% of the total menu and everything is at least solid. There are certain dishes that run a bit bland/reserved like the Asian and Mediterranean influenced ones, but the pure American dishes typically nuke you with flavor (which I like). As with all Hal Smith restaurants, portion size is great. Prices are a bit high, but it's appropriate for the quality/service level. All in all, you can't go wrong here. It's never going to explode your brain, but it will also likely never let you down.

Hefner grill has the best views of the lake and amazing sunsets .I sat at the bar and had wine and the bar was very busy .The bartenders did a great job of keeping up with the customers pouring in. Tip your wait staff and bartenders they work hard for their money and do alot behind the scenes. I tried the cevechi is was very limey and only had shrimp as far as seafood goes I would give it a low review. But I also ordered the poke bowl it was amazing the tuna was fresh it had edamme and ton of flavor and crunch .the jazz music was an added bonus I cant wait to go back.

Everything was Great and our waitress Lorien was AWSOME. Peach Bellinis was a cold treat for a hot day. Crab dip, Paul's pasta, crabs cakes and code with asparagus was the bomb. Always sun dried tomato Mac and cheese was fire. Ok hands down great.

Had an excellent brunch here a few months ago. So, decided to invite friends for a New Years Eve meal. It was very busy, but our server was extremely slow. I was making excuses for her until my friend said he saw her periodically chatting up a nearby table. We had requested and were seated next to the windows overseeing the lake (recommend if making reservations). The restaurant is nice, but not upscale. Our Calamari app was good and a generous portion. However, my Vera Cruz was delicious. Very flavorful and rich. Was expecting more of a Mexican profile as the name implies, but leaned Mediterranean, in a good way.

We were here for our anniversary. The wife wanted the crab cakes and coconut shrimp. Both were excellent very good! She got the red beans and rice , and coleslaw which were excellent choices with the shrimp. I had the Grouper Veracruz , highly recommended this dish. Plenty of fresh vegetables artichoke, peppers, capers, tomato ect.... The fish was as fresh as you can get

Back for round 2! Hefner Grill has the ambience and service that scream upscale restaurant. The food is catching up to that standard. I had the Coconut Shrimp (10/10) with the squash rockafeller and those delicious shoestring fries and my boyfriend enjoyed his catfish as well! Overall delicious dinner and great views

Hefner Grill is my love at first sight since setting foot in it 6 years ago and this is a very tardy review! I have been here several times since and my last visit was about a month ago when I had a girls' night out for sunset cocktails during social hour. We made a reservation through Open Table and got our table by the window as requested. Service was lovely as ever, friendly staff that were happy to show up to work. We were asking for appetiser and drinks recommendations and our server was more than pleased to oblige. We'd planned to have oysters and a couple of nibbles as we had dinner plans eleswhere but we left feeling as though we've had our full dinner because the appetiser portions were enormous! Most importantly, though, the oysters were fresh. We were there mid-week so it was quite a surprise to see the restaurant looking packed as we left arpund 7pm-ish that night. A true testament, however, that they know how to run a good business.

The service was AMAZING. She gave me her name and I have forgotten it but she was amazing as was the little girl That checked us in at the front. Our server was Stephen and he was the best. I wanted to sit on the patio and he got us an umbrella. It was a bit too hot so I asked if we could get a table inside. He was extremely efficient and took really great care of us. He came and checked on us several times and brought me my delicious Old Fashioned with Woodford Bourbon. It was great! Houston came to check on us as well and he was so nice and we chatted for a minute! This place was wonderful start to finish. The food was amazing! Location was beautiful! Thanks so much for the awesome experience!! Definitely recommend!!!

We love the view in sunny days. It's a special occasion for two families have brunch together. Starting with calamari and artichoke dip. Many and different fresh fish entrees and kid's menu make a great family lunch. The food was good, very well prepared : Teriyaki Mahi was my choice!!! Great service and ambiance.

Ask the Community - Hefner Grill

Does the meatloaf have onions in it?

Hello! So sorry about that but Hefner Grill does not have meatloaf. Redrock Canyon Grill in the same area does and yes it does have onions.

    Do the servers wear masks?

Not when I was there in June

Do the bloody Marys have horseradish?

I believe so. They make their own mix and I think that is an ingredient.

Redrock Canyon Grill - Lake Hefner…read more First visit--and I can confidently say this place just earned a spot in our regular date night rotation. We walked in to a packed house, which is always a good sign, but were seated immediately. From there, the experience never missed a beat. Beverly took care of us and was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and genuinely engaged. You can tell when someone enjoys what they do, and it shows. We started with margaritas, and when Beverly said they were "perfect," she wasn't overselling it. Smooth, well-balanced, and served ice cold. We're both olive fans, so of course we asked for extras--and they delivered without hesitation. Going in, we made a deal: appetizers or dessert--not both. After hearing about the pineapple upside-down cake with vanilla ice cream, that decision was made pretty quickly. For the main course, Beverly walked us through the menu and the weekly specials: * Rainbow trout with roasted peppers and cucumber salad * 14 oz peppercorn crusted steak with mashed potatoes, broccoli & parmesan I know my wife--steak was the obvious choice for her. I went with the trout. Both dishes were excellent. The trout was cooked perfectly with a light, flavorful sauce that didn't overpower the fish, and the vegetables were fresh and well-prepared. The steak was cooked just right, full of flavor, and paired perfectly with creamy mashed potatoes and broccoli finished with parmesan. What really elevated the night was the hospitality. Kirsten, the manager, stopped by to check on us and took the time to have a genuine conversation. She shared details about patio seating and upcoming live music nights, which we're already planning to come back for. Then came a surprise--she graciously covered our dessert. A classy move that didn't go unnoticed. And that pineapple upside-down cake? Warm, soft, topped with melting vanilla ice cream... absolutely worth skipping the appetizers for. The Bottom Line: Great food, exceptional service, and a relaxed but polished atmosphere right on Lake Hefner. Whether it's your first visit or your tenth, this is the kind of place that makes you want to come back. Highly recommend for a date night or a nice evening out.

This was the best meal I've had in OKC in a very long time…read more My wife and I did a little date night. The restaurant isn't much to look at from the outside--just a tiny little white and blue building. Sitting right off 10th, parking is tight as well. Inside isn't fancy, but that's my vibe. There is an outdoor patio I didn't get to check out, but the road noise from 10th is pretty noticeable even inside. Overall the atmosphere feels small town coastal, local, and not pretentious, but does suffer slightly from its location. Service was friendly, and paced as expected for fine dining. Honestly, it's refreshing to not feel rushed at a dinner service. We enjoyed our conversation over a bottle off their (small) wine list instead. We ordered the spring pre fix and it was just ALL hits, no misses. I wrinkled my nose at the menu a bit because I don't particularly love fennel or mint or lamb or hell even salmon but I I have been converted. The food was amazing. Perfectly cooked, seasoned, and portioned. The bread...the bread was the best bread starter I've tried. My wife hates oysters and loved the oyster (she tries everything cos she's not a child). The gnocchi was pillowy soft and amazing, not gummy or dense or mushy. The asparagus?! Amaze amaze amaze. 5 perfect courses (6 if you count the 2x different items for the table) for $77 a person?!?! Yes. We're going back asap.

From local food critic Jared Gleaton Eats full critique…read more Atmosphere and Hospitality: The atmosphere at Sedalia's feels less like a polished coastal seafood house and more like the hidden gem tucked behind a bustling boardwalk fishing restaurant--the kind locals quietly point you toward. We were greeted by Silvana, who warmly led us to our table while Becky guided the service throughout the evening. Plates were seamlessly swapped, water glasses never sat empty, and Becky demonstrated an impressive command of the menu and preparations. Throughout the meal, Zack and members of the kitchen team delivered several dishes themselves, describing each course in detail and offering a small but genuine slice of coastal hospitality. Food: Baked oyster, kent blanc, smoked trout roe, chive breadcrumbs ($35 1/2 Dozen) The dinner opens with a borderline transcendent bite of baked oyster, beautifully balanced and cooked to perfection, singing across the palate. A rich beurre blanc pairs seamlessly with the briny oyster while bursts of smoked trout roe punctuate each bite. The breadcrumbs on the back end provide just enough contrast in texture to round out an immaculate first course. Grilled focaccia for the table, salt cod butter, Szechuan oil, lime, chive, pecorino, balsamic ($15) The grilled focaccia is thick, fluffy, and fantastic. Notes of rich, airy bread give way to salty, buttery layers from the cod butter before finishing with subtle hints of char and acidity from the accompaniments. Barramundi tartare, kumquat, masa nachos, serrano & ancho chilies, spinach ($17) An excellent preparation, the tartare rests atop a thick masa nacho. The barramundi is soft yet slightly firm, its delicate flavor profile lifted by bright notes of kumquat and a subtle heat creeping through the back end from the serrano. Beef tongue anticuchos & la huancaína ($20) The tongue is beautifully prepared--tender with just enough structure. The anticuchos seasoning and huancaína sauce add a nutty, earthy depth that bursts across the palate with each bite. Duck confit pecorino crumble, pappardelle, alubia blanca beans, pecorino ($26) An absolutely beautiful layered dish. The rich duck confit is soft and rich with strong initial notes of pecorino giving way to middle notes of duck and end notes of tomato. Though presented in a tomato based pasta the addition of alubia blanca beans creates a creamy texture that surprises the palate, transforming what appears to be a brothy preparation into something far richer and more complex. Crispy fried hake, mojo rojo, aioli, potato ($23) A thoughtful take on fish and chips. The hake is fried perfectly, with an excellent fish-to-batter ratio. The aioli provides a creamy counterpoint while the mojo rojo adds depth and warmth. Grilled tuna collar with beurre blanc sauce (Special) This special was absolutely stunning and one of the finest bites of 2026. The rich, fatty tuna cheek is tempered beautifully by the creamy, tangy beurre blanc and fragrant tarragon. Each element complements the other, creating a layered, indulgent bite that borders on perfection. Potatoes a la huancaína, ají amarillo, sorghum, olive ($14) This course pushes firmly into transcendent territory. The soft layers of potato are draped in an ethereal ají amarillo sauce that delivers gentle heat while coating the palate in luxurious flavor. Each bite teases you into the next. Honey semifreddo, pomegranate molasses, meringue, citrus ($14) A triumphant end to the evening. The honey semifreddo melts effortlessly on the palate, cleansing and refreshing before giving way to the deeper sweetness of pomegranate molasses and delicate notes of meringue and citrus. A beautifully balanced and borderline transcendent finale.

She was like your bag has extra claw in there and I was like huh and so my daughter was missing a claw basically a half pound and she was like can you open the bag? I was like what like she wanted to reach in the bag and pull the claw and put it on my daughter's bag and I'm like oh my God what anyways they messed up and they actually gave me an extra claw on my daughter was shorter the claw and you know I'm already in my bag digging yes starting to eat and she literally brought the bag out was like can you just give her claw out your bag I did but no ma'am excuse me you need to replenish that claw that is you guys mistake I've already started cracking claws eating on this and then you want me to hand her something out of my bag. I'm already digging in mind you I had one hand with the glove and one hand without a glove yeah my daughter, but if it was anybody else like I don't want their germs and they don't want mine that was a little bit of gross but you're that hard up for one claw nasty nasty. I hate to see the kitchen like for real if you actually dropped the claw on the floor. They're picking that shit right back up. I know you're eating what's inside of it but it's still just a thought of it. Just a thought of it anyways Parking is fine.
