Friday evening and the place was packed. Not really an appealing setup indoors, loud and rows of bare bones tables and chairs. The patio was very nice, if you are there on an evening the Nebraska weather allows the patio. We were, and enjoyed it. Beer was good. I had Red Ale and my companions sought "something like Blue Moon," which the bartender was able to recommend. Hot honey pepperoni pizza was very greasy but tasty. We saw a neighboring table use a napkin on top of the pizza before they ate, and we did that too. Service was friendly and fine, although the setup is a bit quirky. Food is separate from beer and ordering is done via a QR code, but you can order at the counter if you prefer. Would visit again, but not for a My Dinner With Andre conversation. read more

It's all about the beer! Heavy Brewing provides a great selection of beer. You are sure to find a style that you prefer. We have always found the beer to be perfectly cold and fresh. We prefer pale ales and (especially) Hazy IPAs. We love the pizza too. They have a fun selection. On this trip, we ordered The BDub which has hamburger, sausage, green peppers, and black olives. It was easy to drop the green peppers and add jalapeño on the ordering form. The pizza did not take long to prepare. It was hot, thin, crispy and delish! As for the setting, Heavy Brewing is very welcoming with plenty of seating. It's informal and set in an industrial building. This place holds such a special spot in my heart because it's a tradition for my mom and me to get pizza and beer before I fly home. We always come here to say goodbye and do one last thing together before I leave. One time, we had a little too much fun here and I missed my flight, but that's a story for another day! If you're a craft beer person, you're going to love this place. That's the main drawl. The food was fine. It's basically just fried appetizers and pizzas, but it's good. The chicken strip bites and the cheesy garlic bread were the best items. I loved the Y2K music they had playing. Made my Millennial heart happy. It is family friendly! At least during the early evening during the week is. Everyone there (minus two guys at the bar) had babies or small children with them, our group included. There's pinball and an outdoor area. Wide open seating with huge tables - great for groups. You can order food via your phone or walk up to the food window. Note - place doesn't open until 3pm and food isn't available until 4. My husband and I visited Heavy Brewing after work yesterday with some friends and family and their two children. First, it is extremely family friendly and kids are welcome. We ordered a beef pizza with mushrooms and olives and it was so good. The crust was crisp and there were plenty of toppings. Later on, we ordered the soft pretzels and they were eve crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The beer cheese sauce for dipping was terrific too. The beer selection was large enough so everyone in our party found something they enjoyed. Overall, the craft beers were all good. Service was friendly and speedy when the place was relatively empty. Food is ordered from a QR code on the table. This process was fast and easy. As it became busier, the line to get drinks was slow and long. This is an area that could use some work. However, it didn't deter us from staying for hours. We were able to watch the Gretna football games on the big screen and socialize. We had a great time and will be back soon! read more

We've come for events with our realtor and they've always had great food and drinks, but finally my husband and I came for an event so I can finally rate it. The brews are always top notch, and super fun flavors. Tonight, I had the "my strippers name is cinnamon," "Vienna oak job," black cherry, and "creepy dunkel Larry." The old fashioned and espresso martini are also great! They have a pizza oven that always makes the pizza crust crispy and well cooked. This place was an interesting find....I thought my navigation was taking me off path as Heavy Brewing is tucked into an industrial area in Gretna. Upon entry, its definitely a warehouse feel with lots of open seating, a bar and area for corn hole competitions. A couple of negatives were the beer and pizza purchases had to be separate transactions, it was a bit noisy (cornhole announcements) and I don't recommend the "My stripper name is cinnamon" beer. However, they had some excellent IPAs, I loved the pizza (hot honey was delicious), service was good and the vibe was a lot of fun with good music and lively atmosphere. I'll start with the disclaimer that I'm not a beer fan but I do appreciate when breweries have food options and non beer drink options. We've been to Heavy Brewing twice; once when they first opened in fall of 2022 and then last week. I got the BBC pizza both times and really enjoyed it. I love bbq based pizzas and especially wood fired. It had brisket and cheese curds, a must try in my opinion. I'll leave the beer review to someone more qualified but excited to see they had expanded their non beer options the second time we went. They have basic wine, some classic cocktails and I was told they would be getting cider, which is exciting. Would love to see this expand more with maybe some local options like Glacial Till Cider. Lots of seating available as it is in a warehouse type building and offers a private room and outdoor games. read more

So, I'm not sure if it was bad timing on my first visit but this was my experience.. Right when you walk in the entrance you see a bar tap and counter with several pallets of things and boxes all over. (I almost left because I thought it was closed) then I heard people and kids screaming so I kept walking in..then I almost tripped over some step stools (I think for the kids/arcade games) It just felt like the place was an unfinished construction project with several things left in the taproom that should be stored in the back. Seating felt like I walked into a board meeting with the chairs and tables. Overall beer was fine, service was fine, but the vibe gave nothing for me to want to stay and order pizza or feel comfortable. Also the kids everywhere, screaming and yelling when you're trying to relax and have a beer was not ideal. I guess this place caters to families? Maybe advertise yourself as a pizza place that brews their own beer? For a name like 'Heavy' Brewing it send a mixed message in branding. Again maybe bad timing but that was my experience. My wife and I stopped here on the way to date night for a quick bite and some beers. We've never been here before, so I was excited to try it out. Unfortunately we couldn't try as much as we normally would because we had no way to store or secure leftovers. We ordered a single pizza, the BBC. My wife also got a beer, "You're My Beer, Blue", and I got an orange mead. I was excited for the mead and it did not disappoint. It was $6 which is fairly reasonable, and my wife's beer was $7.50 for a 16 oz. All the options for beer come in two to three different sizes and there are a few rotating offerings. The pizza was pretty good, thin crust that was cooked so it was chewy but not too soft and the flavor was delicious. Staff was very friendly and there are TVs for adults and a small arcade for children. It's nice to have a brewery that has a dining area that is child-friendly. My wife and I were looking forward to Heavy Brewing based on the reviews posted. When we arrived at the establishment, the first obstacle was parking. Very limited parking is available. With limited parking, some people parked in a nearby lot. While we were there, over the loud speakers the manager told everyone that parked there must move or be locked in for the night. The pizza is very pricey and did not have much protein on it. Mainly sauce and veggies. Will not eat pizza again. The best part was the beer that was available. Bartenders were very knowledgeable of the beers and gave a good recommendation based on our likes. Overall I give Heavy Brewing a C-. My kids took me here for Father's Day. We had the Pretzel bites that came with an amazing beer cheese sauce. Added to those were the Gouda Mac and Cheese puffs, not bad, tasted like frozen ones. Just Hamburger was the first pizza then the My Thais are Rubbing Together Chicken Pizza, followed up with the Baller. All of them had a great crust and were equally delicious.
