Amazing. Could not understand the man that helped us at 3:40 AM at all. I think he may have even been under the influence of some weird ass drugs that the common person has never heard of. Do not ask him for a round chocolate doughnut or else he will physically and mentally break. We were seriously worried if he was having a stroke. I think the only good thing about this place is it's open 24 hrs. Staying at the hotel just before it because I am working on the fires, I don't understand why every time I have gone there the donuts are cold and old...it's a 24 hr spot, you would think that access to fresh, hot (or even warm) donuts would be a given...not the case! Just glad my room has a microwave to warm them up and soften them so I don't chip a tooth! Sign says 24 hours yea right today at 4am went to the door locked so I drove around to the drive through and sat there for 15 minutes watched an employee walk by 4 times and still no service. Visiting Redding for a week and had to have our donut fix! This place has bad reviews, but they don't deserve it. Our experience was great! We got a dozen donuts of a good variety. They were all delicious! We tried the buttermilk glazed, raspberry jelly, Boston cream, donut holes, blueberry cake, coconut cake, cinnamon crumb. Service was quick and friendly, parking easy. Two years ago while on our way home from visiting our daughters, my husband and I stumbled upon Heavenly Donuts. I was delighted to try the Gator, a triangle shaped raised donut with chocolate glaze and a whipped cream type filling. It was awesome. We are now on our way back up north to visit daughters again and made a point to stay at the Thunderbird Lodge just to go back and have my beloved Gator. Was I disappointed! The donut was dry even though it's a Sunday morning, and the filling was skimpy. Maybe they were running out? It should be bursting with creamy goodness, not just wiped on like you're making a peanut butter sandwich. Was planning to stop by again on the way home but now we won't bother. The chocolate fudge donut was dry as well. Donuts should be a guilty pleasure and practically melt in your mouth, not get stuck in your throat. I hope the owner will take this feedback as a plea for improvement and use higher quality ingredients in the future. I was coming home from Fresno via Amtrak. I was in a position where I had to take the Burney Express home which didn't run till later. The Website said this place was open 24 hours so I thought I had a place to eat and kill time safely in a sketchy part of town. Turns out only the drive thru is open. The two employees not only refused to make an exception (I was walking around redding at 4 am with luggage) but one of the just continued to sit on his butt and eat donuts. This place is a joke. I told the that he would rather have me have to walk around downtown at this time of night alone than make an exception and he said yes, turned around and walked away. Website and sign said 24 hrs, didn't see any qualifications that this only meant drive thru. Last night my friends and I went to Heavenly Doughnuts and got a heavenly dozen. The doughnuts were okay, not the best I've had, and decently priced. However the reason for this bad review is the cashier who was rude and unhelpful. We asked him what the heavenly dozen had in it and he mumbled, "just the regular doughnuts."
