Lovely vegan restaurant with an owner who really gets it. Aaron is so knowledgeable, caring, and passionate. You can practically feel the love in each dish. The restaurant is super clean and has a calming, zen vibe. The menu is creative and everything is absolutely delicious. This was THE BEST matcha latte I've ever had. Aaron listened to my food sensitivity issues, took me seriously, and knew what to do before I even asked. Amazing. Hubs had the breakfast burrito bowl and he hasn't stopped talking about it since. We found a the door locked when we arrived but lucky for us he opened up just as we were going to leave. Aaron told me their hours can so unusual right now. First visit here on the reco of a friend and gosh was I happy I listened to her suggestion! The food was Amazing and I'm a tough critic. As a foodie , long time vegetarian and health coach, my quality bar is rather high and Heartwood def met it. We took the server's suggestions on what to eat and completely enjoyed the black bean burger and the curry (not spicy) noodles. Even the individual ceramic plates added to ambiance of the meal. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for quite a while. Previously, Rootbound. Same owner. Both vegan and gluten free menu. Absolutely amazing. I love the spiritual feel of this restaurant from the decor, to the music, to the sweet demeanor of the girls at the counter. There is a bookshelf of books to read. Games to play. A wall of inspiring art and messages made by patrons. I first ordered the Lavender Mate Latte hot while waiting for a friend to arrive. Loved it! Later ordered the Breakfast Burrito Bowl with zucchini noodles and lots of yumminess! I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu items. I've had good experiences in the past & have been a big fan of this place but unfortunately had a rough situation yesterday. My husband & I spent $300 for us both to do a standard 3-day juice cleanse here & were excited to start. We cleaned up the pantry & planned around doing this cleanse. We showed up at 3pm yesterday, which was a Sunday (our scheduled time to pick up the juices) & they had the closed sign up & door locked. No explanation posted online or in sight. Their hours showed they were supposed to be open another 2 hours & we could see employees inside cleaning up & talking on the phone laughing & talking. The man employee was behind the counter with no shirt on, which I found unsanitary considering his body hair was exposed to the equipment & prep stations. We tried to get their attention & called a few times but were completely ignored. We waited about 15 minutes hoping to get help, even leaving a message on voicemail. I called again this morning with no one picking up but Its been over 24 hours now and still have not been contacted. We've had to go through a whole headache situation through Toast (the third party company they use for their online orders) to cancel the order & get our money back just to find out the only way to get it is through Heartwood itself. I just can't believe a company would be this unprofessional & not try to at least explain or reschedule the order, which I could have been understanding about, but completely ignoring the situation is not okay. I'm disappointed because it's a vegan & environmentally conscious place, which is rare to find, but I don't want to support a business ran like this. read more

I was told they only had chocolate cake or cheesecake available, so I opted for the cheesecake. Enjoyed our visit to Rootbound. This place definitely has a hippy vibe with smoothies, juices, and other beverages as well as food options. The space is very welcoming and there are plants and crystals decorating the place. The staff were very attentive and friendly, gave us our drinks and some pointers on how to best enjoy. I did make the mistake of letting my kava shot settle, if I got one again I'd drink it right away. My tea was calming. A nice space to relax with friends in small groups. Parking is mostly street though there are a few lots in the area and it's easily walkable through the charming downtown St. Charles area. read more

Drove 20 mins to try out this place, got there at 1030 this morning and it was closed. Very disappointed.. it says they open at 10am. The door was unlocked, some lights were on, called the place 2 times, no answer. Another guy came to check out this place and he was also very disappointed because he said he drove 30 mins to come here to find out they were closed. He said he came a couple days ago and it was also closed. This place has very bad business. No sign of why they are closed, no mention on their website either. What a disappointment. came on a busy Sunday afternoon for the first time. I was able to secure street parking just a short distance away. When I entered, there was an Open Mic performer playing that was really good. The tables were pretty full, but i managed to grab one to have room for the friends who were joining me. The overall vibe there is very hip coffee shop. There is greenery in the front by the windows, interesting artwork on the walls, and lots of tables facing the large front counter. I was able to grab several tables for my group that was joining me. Other customers were kind and offered their tables as they left, so we had plenty of room, even though it was very busy that afternoon. Oh,and they have the coolest macrame seat hanging from the ceiling in one corner - it would be great place to read a book. There is also a large counter bar along a wall in the back! The food was mostly vegan and all gluten free. They have a wonderful drinks menu as well, and everything looks amazing. I got the Taco Salad, which was a secret menu option, and a maple coffee drink. Both were delicious! Each item is made to order so it takes a while for the food to come up. It was a wonderful way to enjoy an afternoon, and I'd love to come back to try more of the menu! Had to knock on the door several times to get the attention of the woman working. Had the music blaring & two small children running around when she finally opened the door. Dirty shoe soles on the actual countertop & then kicked over the cup I was supposed to have used had I not asked for a clean one. The texture is definitely not as soft as your regular waffle but the crunch is so good. I think their shots are so good as well. I had an amazing breakfast yesterday at Rootbound in St. Louis Missouri! The energy in this place was so serene! There wonderful books, crystals, and plants all over the place and their menu is very enticing. I got a vegan waffle topped with agave, hemp seeds, blueberries, and vegan whipped cream.. because I've been feeling under the weather I also got a shot of elderberry and another shot of turmeric. Not only was the energy amazing, the staff makes you feel warm and at home. I wish I could have stayed longer but I will be back in my next STL visit! They should totally uncover the numbers 777 that's on the front door because those numbers have great significance that completely describes this entire establishment! I ordered from Rootbound for a healthy meal and this was my first experience there. I ordered for pickup at 1:45 and showed up at 1:47 thinking I would just be running in to grab it. I was met at the counter by an employee not wearing a mask at all. This was shocking to me since I haven't seen that in so long. He said he would go get my food and I waited at the counter. Several minutes passed and another employee walked up close to me to ask if I had been helped and they also had no mask. Now I was really uncomfortable as I had my newborn with me who I have been avoiding exposing to illness. I moved towards the door for space as I continued to wait and noticed two more employees were also maskless. This is a very small restaurant so there isn't even the benefit of spacing. I now realized I was the only person in the whole place wearing a mask. They finally brought my food out past 2pm (no one else was waiting) and I rushed out to my car. The food was good which is a shame as I definitely would have come back based on that but as an ICU nurse I find it so reckless during a pandemic to not observe basic masking for the health of your employees and patrons. I'm happy I found out about this place I'll say 6 months ago during covid, I did the 3 day juice cleanse. I do this every year but I always welcome new places. I love the variety of juices and ingredients used for the cleanse. Normally it's few basic ones and some options will have for third day a raw meal or maybe a surprise juice recipe. Love the nightly juice options. So I did the juice cleanse June 2nd and another starting 12-9. This time I was given some tips as to the first drink to do a quick blend so you can feel full. Well I couldn't even finish the first one... it's true. But the juices will always give you a full feeling. I was also told the nightly drinks you can warm if you like and I cannnoooot wait because the first time I did this I was just thinking" it would be amazing warm". Very personable and friendly and that means a lot to someone as you are giving your love to the product and I felt all the energy as I entered the room. Everything I've had here is fabulous. They have a vegan Alfredo with broccoli, mushrooms, and gluten free noodles (or zucchini noodles) that is more flavorful than anything I've had on the hill.
