I had never heard of this place but a friend found it and suggested we go there as it was late on a Sunday and we wanted this go somewhere for dinner as a group and not many places were open. Service was decent, food was amazing, lots of Indian folks dining in which means it's authentic!! Lots of vegan options, although they were not marked on the menu so I had to ask the server for help. Lots of space to dine in, it was cold outside hut we were cozy inside. Great spot for groups for yummy Indian food. Also wish they had a vegan dessert like a dairy free ice cream. Restaurant seemed a bit dingy, service was terrible, food quality decreased, menu changes that removed some gluten friendly items i could previously eat now made with wheat flour and everything i could order just tasted like salt. I wanted to love this place so badly. It is SO NICE to be able to look at a whole menu as a vegetarian and know that you can just pick anything you want, and I loved the variety offered. I wanted to love it so badly that I reordered four times. (Two of the four times I got horrendously sick. Now, the other three folks in my family ate the same dishes and they were TOTALLY fine. This is NOT a foodbourne illness problem. I was just unfortunately very sensitive to something those two trips and thus tried to vary what I got each time.) On to the dishes. The dabang dosa was not my favorite. I personally don't like green bell peppers and found it to be too overpowering. My son that likes green bell peppers found it refreshing and a fun mix of textures. The plain cheese dosa we all liked, it was a funky little chewy guy that we all thoroughly enjoyed, and the chutneys were delicious. The veg pakora was bitter. Extremely bitter. No idea why. We're fat, we ate it anyway. The kofta curry was my favorite. I liked the texture and flavor of the kofta alone but the curry was also rich, flavorful, and memorable. This was teenager and 6 year old approved! Runner up is the dry manchurian which was a textural delight and had a good punch of flavor. We had the paneer tikka masala but I don't remember it. I was hoping for more from the samosa chaat. We stuck to garlic naan and it was average. It worked but was nothing to write about. I'm sure I will end up staring at this menu again with hope and try again. I would reorder the kofta for sure, I would probably still go for a dosa. We just have too many great Indian restaurants in the area, and for now, this one is just not my favorite. read more

They had me sold with the Rose Lasi and then the samosa Chat! The Debang Dosa was an unexpected delight with the cheese and veggies and the perfect crisp dosa! I can't wait to go back- I think I will go a little more than mild on the spice level next time! The service was great- and the menu was extensive! The signs confused me outside, but they showed a menu next to the door. As soon as I was seated in my own booth- I was given a copper (?) pitcher and a cup of water. I am not sure if it was copper but the water out of it tasted good. I just wanted something cheap to hold me over so I went with soup. However, the waiter suggested garlic naan and I went for it... the other suggestions I said "no". The bowl of Manchow soup was black bean soup with more ingredients and spice than I expected. I am glad to have ordered naan as a palate cleanser. This restaurant is nicer than I expected and less expensive. This can be a great find for an evening Indian dinner. read more

This is a nice addition to St Peters. Everyone was very friendly. The food was great! Really nice interior, but the music was a tad loud. I loved the Palak Paneer and garlic naan. The Mushroom masala was really tasty and something different that I haven't noticed at other places. The Dabang dosa were so good! They did not skimp on the cheese, so it was a lot for two people. I decided to pop in this newer Indian restaurant on a cold, rainy Autumn evening. It's tucked in the corner of a shopping plaza. Everything here is vegetarian. The restaurant was bright and very clean. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They have counter service for takeout or table service if you're dining in. What's different about this restaurant is they also have an ice cream cooler with about 10 unique flavors. Also available are bags of Indian salty snacks to go, and a refrigerated case full of juice, and freshly made lassi. I ordered manchow soup, which is really hard to describe. The closest thing I can think of is like a hot chili oil soup with some finely chopped vegetables. It comes with some crispy noodles to add on. I also ordered butter paratha, which is a multi layered wheat flaky bread. It is great for sopping up delicious sauces. For my main entrée, I got the paneer tikka masala that came with plain white rice. Everything was absolutely delicious! The menu is so big and I'm looking forward to trying many more things on my next visit. read more

I'm not a vegetarian, but I like to eat vegetarian food sometimes and this is a great place with a humongous menu. There are a lot of items that I have never seen before and I look forward to working my way through the menu.The Dabang Dosa I ordered was really big and came with many dipping sauces. I took half home and enjoyed it the next day as well. You have to be very careful with allergies. I have a peanut allergy and I let the server know,however, I was still served a peanut sauce anyway. I asked for them to explain each of the sauces I was served and that's when it was discovered one was a peanut sauce. The food expediter told me the server didn't mark a peanut allergy on my order, but I watched her do it so I know she did... Mistakes happen so I always have to be vigilant. My family went to Honest Restaurant for lunch. I searched "vegetarian" near me on Yelp and Honest was at the top of the list. What a terrific recommendation! The service was great AND the food was beyond delicious. I ordered the Dabang Dosa based on the recommendation of our server. Wow! So good. We also had garlic naan, paneer butter masala and sezchwan noodles. All were so flavorful. Every moment was awesome! It was great eating all the unique foods. Since we weren't familiar with most things on the menu, we let our waitress decide. Manchurian Gravy, Dabang Dosa, Chili Paneer, and a last minute order of noodles, all of it was fantastic! Honest Restaurant is located in a plaza with plenty of free parking. The interior has a modern and welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted immediately by Varun. He guided us through ordering and later even gave us tips on how to incorporate the sauces while eating. Every bite we had was delicious! The kitchen staff did a great job! We've had Indian food at many restaurants, but never before like this. I appreciated the different types of Indian foods they offer that are not typical at other restaurants. We felt the portions were large and prices were reasonable. We will definitely come back. We have a lot more we want to try on the menu. read more

I heard about this place from a colleague who was extremely excited to have a location of this chain coming to the area. Somehow it fell off my radar until now. Where do I even start? The menu is truly massive. It should come with an instruction manual. I'm not an expert on Indian Cuisine, but I can fake it enough to order without assistance. I can always text my colleague for advice. Or just ask the staff. They're friendly and they know their product. Really, you can't go wrong here as long as you like Indian food. It'll take me a good while to work my way through the menu, but so far it's all been amazing. How authentic is it? My colleague (born and raised in India) comes here all the time and gets extra to take home. Good enough for me. Unfortunately, If you're looking for Chicken Tikka Masala, you're in the wrong Indian Restaurant. This place is vegetarian. As far as ambiance and decor - It may not be traditional 'Indian Restaurant', but I suspect it's totally standard for Honest. read more

Eaten here a couple times since "Bombay street food" Is hard to come by in St Louis and Honest is a welcome addition. What I like about the place: - Some good choices on the menu that you don't find elsewhere. Vada pav, Pav bhaji, Dabeli etc are rarely done right and Honest appears to know what they are doing. - The food we tried was mostly good, prepared fresh. - Food arrives quick after you order. Waiters were friendly and overall responsive. What I didn't care for: - Poor customer service. The servers are nice but some of the folks behind the counter (management?) generally come across as petty and money grabbers than trying to do right by the customer. - They had an offer on weekdays of "pick any three" for $9.99 and when I inquired they made it sound like they would pick for me and not the other way around. Weird. - Some of the food is very spicy and that appears to be the default. Had we known before ordering we would have asked to tone down the spice. When we made a comment on it, instead of saying they could replace the one dish that was unbearably spicy (out of an order of 5 dishes), they just shrugged and walked off. Honest has the potential to be great if they make it more about the customer and doing right by them. Also communicating clearly with the customer on what to expect would help with the overall experience. read more

I got plain dosa, Hakka noodles and gobi Manchurian. I wanted vegi dosa she said plain and I agreed. Well when I got it there was potatoes in it so I called and this lady argued with me telling me plain doesn't come with it and no where it does! I go to Priya all the time on dorsett plain dosa comes with potatoes. Terrible customer service and then when I picked up my food they had a dirty plate of food sitting in front of the counter where I had to pay! I will never be back.
