We understand that this property is 15 - 20 individually owned condos that are managed together and…read morerented out to travelers like hotel rooms/apartments. We have stayed here a handful of times over the past 10 years and enjoyed the experience. This last visit was incredibly sub par. The room with water view, top floor unit we requested was not available as the owner decided to use it at the last minute. We were switched to a different unit that had multiple problems. There was black mold in the shower, swarms of ants in the bathroom, blood stains on the sheets, cracked areas on the microwave, stains on the carpet, a dishwasher that came out from under the counter when opening the door, bathroom fan that sounds like a jet engine, and a fire alarm that shrieks if you forget to close the bedroom door when taking a shower. The innkeepers (hotel staff) led us to believe that the owners of this suite number 203 were aware of the problems but hadn't gotten around to fixing anything and hopefully they'd take care of things during the off season. The staff said the rooms are serviced after 4 nights (we were there for 5 nights). We did request fresh towels for each day and were assured that would not be a problem, however it didn't happen. On the 4th day when I took a shower, there was no hot water. The black mold in the shower was grossing me out. Then I tried drying off with a damp towel (even though we hung them up the damp weather did not allow towels to dry from one day to the next) and I had ants all over my feet from the dead and live ones on the floor. Becky the housekeeping manager was very helpful and inspected the ant infested area (even after using traps they'd given us) and discovered holes between the baseboard and floor that she caulked and fixed the problem. Becky wanted to resolve our problems and did what she could to help. She was the one person that actively helped the situation and conveyed her concern for the issues. We felt the innkeepers were already aware of the issues but did not feel like they could remedy them, never came to the room to check on anything, and indicated we should accept the room as is. And although they did offer to let us out of our commitment for 5 nights, we could not find other accommodations in Eastsound and did not want to cancel our entire vacation. We are very sad that this property that once made us so happy has fallen so far. We will not stay there again as it seems that the management cannot require owners to properly maintain their units and we'd have no idea if the unit we'd be getting would be in good shape.

Beautiful view of the bay and a nice balcony to sit on for morning coffee and evening wine. The bed was SO comfortable and the sheets and blanket soft. We slept very well with beautiful cool breezes blowing in. The only critique I have is the kitchen was not very well stocked. Normally when we rent a BnB it has basic spices, foil and plastic wrap are usually available. There was nothing to wrap Leftovers in. I know it's a small thing but a few extras like that would be nice in the kitchen. All in all it was a nice place to stay and everything was within walking distance, we would stay here again

I think I offended the hostess and waitress after having trouble with their "ring bell for service" bell. We waited a short time in the small entrance and noticed the bell.... Several light taps produced no sound and a more unreserved tap sounded like a fire alarm. The hostess and waitress arrived wide-eyed and I apologized and tried to make light of the awkward meeting... they weren't having it. We were there to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We stated that in our reservation and were given a half hearted "happy anniversary" after being seated in the middle of the dining room, without any view. Several couples after us were seated with views to the water. It was our first time there and we didn't know to ask... In any case, we loved the food when we finally got it - but it took over an hour and a half after ordering to receive our meal. The waitress, Countnee (name on receipt), couldn't have been less interested in serving us. I guess she never got over the bell incident??? She seemed overly nice to others... even comping a bottle of wine for the couple next to us. We didn't even get the short spiel about how the strawberries in the sorbet were grown in their garden.... she told other people, we heard her- but she couldn't be bothered to take the time with us. We spent a lot of money on what could have been an amazing celebratory dinner for our anniversary had the service been even a little better. Get over yourself and have a little fun. The hostess was wearing jeans, this shouldn't have had such a pretentious, snooty vibe. We had friends recommend dinner here and we were disappointed, will never be back. It's the next morning and I'm still wishing we had gone somewhere else. It was our 20th anniversary after all!!!

Blue Heron Bed & Breakfast - The red car is the Inn employee car that hit my Mercedes Benz. The police deemed her at fault.

Home was very cozy, it was obvious that it is maintained with love. In the morning we had nice time at deck on swing. We had breakfast (tea, coffee, oatmeals, fruits, boiled eggs, cookies, waffles). Second, an Inn employee hit my brand new car (Mercedes Benz with 100 miles on it) while I was getting a treatment. As I was leaving, the Innkeeper or Manager laughingly told me my car was hit. I thought it was a joke because he kept laughing and telling jokes. He had not called to report the accident and didn't notify me until I was walking out the door to catch a ferry to go back home (live on island). I finally told the manager (or whoever he was) that thanks, but I wasn't in the mood for humor given the circumstances. I had to call the Police to make a report. The report clearly showed the employee was at fault. Given that we live on an Island, this is going to cost us thousands - not even to mention the huge depreciation on a brand new car. After some consideration, it seemed reasonable that perhaps the Inn would credit my stay given the circumstances. My wife called the Inn and spoke with the manager and owner. At first, they immediately hung up on her saying "we don't have time for this" - she was being very polite. Flabbergasted, she called back, and they said we don't care about your situation or that our employee hit your car. Call the insurance company. They were exceptionally rude about it as well. Finally, there are other accommodation options in La Conner. I highly recommend them over Blue Heron. People like this don't deserve our business.

We rang the bell, looked around, called their number, but could not locate anyone. My wife and I decided to use the time to explore the island. Charles called, he had been out back doing yard work. When we arrived the second time, we were greeted by Charles with an apology and a tour. The home is tidy, eclectic and quirky. Our room was wonderful. Plenty of space, comfortable bed and charming. Another bonus of staying here was the breakfasts. The food is delicious and unexpected. I did not anticipate seared sushi grade tuna or oat pancakes that rival the best buttermilk pancakes. And the beauty of breakfast times is sitting with other guests along with Jill and Charles discussing everything from how it all began at the Kangaroo B&B to activities to do on the island. I have to say, with the exception of the amazing views from Mount Constitution, the water views from almost everywhere on the island and celebrating my wife, this B&B was a highlight of my trip.

My husband had their normal breakfast and said it was amazing. He hates pancakes but said the ones they made were incredible. Additionally they were very friendly and inviting to an LGBTQ+ couple staying there which made me feel safe and welcome. I look forward to going back in the future!

Such a stunning setting, wow!…read more I've had the pleasure of visiting Orcas at least once a year since I was a little kid, and finally had the chance to stay at Rosario Resort. While the rooms aren't modern, the views from the Harborside buildings are fabulous. What a lovely spot to sit out on the deck and have a peaceful breakfast. I enjoy walking around the property, and hope to visit someday during the summer to take advantage of the waterside adult swimming pool--one of the best PNW pool views I've seen. (There is a kid-friendly outdoor pool located at the center of the property, and an indoor salt water pool located adjacent to the spa that's open year-round.) The charming mansion is fun to explore, and the restaurant offers tasty menus items (with vegetarian and vegan options, hooray). Although it's fun to stay in different vacation rentals across the island, I'd be happy to come back to Rosario in the future. The mansion was (as people have said) shut down and there was just a bunch of trash outside of it. This also meant no amenities so the advertised pool/hot tub, etc. just not a part of it. -The room itself also has clearly not been updated in a while with old outlets, stained couches, and stained walls from the fire place? Honestly this stuff wouldn't really bother me that much had the price just been wayyyy lower. Hiltons offer way nicer rooms for half the price with real people there to help. I think maybe while they're renovating they should just offer price cuts but oh well. I did ultimately enjoy my stay and will be back to Orcas Island for its cute charm :)
