My favorite "house" among the cottages is "Salmon Shoal" http://www.northshore4kiss.com/salmon_shoal.html This property is the full package, sleeps 8, full kitchen and laundry, steam room. While sitting on the deck or in the hot tub you look out from the north shoreline of Orcas Island. Privacy abounds except for the occasional interruption from local wildlife. Last year we had deer eating apples from a tree as we watched the sunset off the deck. There 9 of us (including three little kids) and with the two bedrooms in the main house and the large downstairs living area, there was more than enough room. We bought the voucher the previous Fall and within a few weeks of when it was supposed to expire, we called the owners and they were wonderful in helping us schedule a weekend. The house is spacious with a fantastic view. We brought a ton of food with us and the full kitchen was clean and stocked with everything our large party needed to eat-in both nights and mornings. The house has all the amenities for us city-dwelling folks, but as it sits at the northern tip of the island with a view of Vancouver B.C., we felt a million miles away. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend.

It is also very close to Richmond in Canada where we love to go for good Cantonese food. This last trip was the second time we managed to book a presidential suite with a private hot tub in the balcony. The unit is a bit dated, but spacious and comfortable. It's also very good to know that they send service personnel to check the hot tub every other day. The resort also has clamming equipment that can be borrowed. We got a lot of huge cockles and horse clams on the beach in the Birch Bay State Park which is about a mile away. We always have a great time at this resort.

This is the closest WorldMark to the U.S. Canada Border in Blaine, which is about 6.5 miles drive from the resort. We arrived around 1:00a, check-in was fast and we were given our key cards and parking pass. As all of WorldMark by Wyndham resorts the unit was clean with a fully-equipped kitchen including a microwave, refrigerator, and stovetop along with a separate living area. We had a studio unit (only one available at time of booking) and our room was on the 5th floor. As always during our trips we never get to enjoy the hotel amenities (pool, recreation area, etc) since we always start our day out early and arrive back late. Can't waste any adventure time while on vacation. For our last evening we walked across the street to Bay Breeze Restaurant & Bar. We had a pleasant stay at this Worldmark location even though we were out most of the time. Review #3623

I have used this critical link preC19 in October 2018, June 2019, and during the pandemic October 2020, and hopefully again in June 2021. I have wandered the island, loved the beauty and tranquility, and especially enjoyed visiting Sunset Beach and The Willows Inn. Ferry crew are efficient, professional, and have safety in mind. I have travelled across in sunny/calm, foggy, and stormy conditions. Google and check their site for the current conditions, schedule, and fare information. PreC19 it was cash only, during the pandemic masks required and debit/credit cards allowed.

The service is pretty frequent: 2~3 times an hour on weekdays and once an hour on the weekend. Here's a link to the official schedule page: http://www.co.whatcom.wa.us/562/Ferry-Schedule. I think it's very inexpensive. We took our car (a small SUV). It was only $20 round trip ($13 for the vehicle and the driver and $7 for the additional passenger). Here's a link to the official fare page: http://wa-whatcomcounty.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/12671 Things to know: -There's no public transportation on Lummi Island; you either take your car on the ferry or hitchhike there (which does not seem uncommon there) -It's a very small ferry. Cars will be very close to each other on the ferry; they are so close that you cannot open the door to get out of your car. -You pay for roundtrip when you go to Lummi Island; it's "free" to go back to Gooseberry Point. -You pay on the ferry. They accept credit cards. Other than the (almost) uncomfortably tight situation on the ferry, I'm very happy with this ferry service to Lummi Island. ****************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit "useful" so that I can improve my reviews. We lasted here about one hour and that's because I wasn't trying to be a jerk... this place was disgusting. There were spiders in the corners of the doorways, spiders on the bathroom floor & there were mosquitoes all over. The carpets were stained, cheap bed, the walls were stained, broken furniture, cable wires running across the wall, there was a bed leaning up on the wall in the area with a couch. After killing off countless mosquitoes we were ready to go. Oh AND there were people outside chatting it up right outside our window past midnight. No idea what they were talking about because I only know English. This place is terrible! When we informed the guy at the desk, he claimed they have a "BUG GUY" come every 2 weeks. Then told us they'd never had this compliant before... (Then why would you have a bug guy every 2 weeks!?!) WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!
