If you have never been, you should definitely go here! We are so glad they survived the shutdown! We go there almost weekly because the food is such a step up from most places. I have never put anything in my mouth there that wasn't incredible. And that goes for the coffees as well. My favorite coffee drink is the rattlecan shot. It is incredible. The menu is unique enough and still familiar. The staff have always been very attentive. The hash is one of my favorite dishes with crispy bacon. Wish I had taken some pictures. read more

I've been in search for a good breakfast place near Cedar Hill. Hearth Cafe was fantastic. Great food selection and what I love most is the entire staff of servers had one mission and that was to make sure everyone was taken care of. Who ever hired them deserves a reward! This is a review for two target audiences: the southern/Texan breakfast crowd and those who appreciate the more "fancy" meals. For the fancier types, this is easily a 4 to 5 star review. My breakfast from the menu, the food presentation and preparation was very similar to breakfasts at the higher end hotels. I must say that they offered the prettiest looking biscuits and gravy that I have ever seen. So, I would sum this as a Ritz like meal with prices that are not at the Ritz levels. This target audience will love Hearth Cafe. For the folks seeking a southern/Texan type breakfast, this would be a 2 star review. Unfortunately, the fancier the fare, the further you move from the filling and hearty breakfasts. Though the biscuits and gravy looked pretty, they did not taste like biscuits and gravy. They did not taste bad... they just did not taste like biscuits and gravy. For this audience, stick with Our Place. read more

Manager could use some training. My husband and I came in today for breakfast. We were eating our food when a man in a button down (guessing manager) approached our table to see how our meal was going, it was at that moment that my husband found a hair on his side of toast (after he had taken a bite). I told the manager and he watched as my husband fished the hair off the toast and onto the plate. The manager asked if he wanted his plate remade. My husband did decline because it was just on the toast he ordered as a side. However the manager immediately walked away (more like ran)- not offering to remove the toast from our bill or even taking the plate with the hair. For the rest of the meal we just stared at the plate with the hair- not appetizing. He never stopped back by our table. read more

Terrible service. Our waitress brought our waters and then was nowhere to be found. We finally got up and asked for someone to take our order because our toddler was getting antsy. When she finally came back we asked if they had any crackers or anything for our daughter because we went through all of our snacks during the wait. She said no and didn't offer any kind of alternative. She then came back and told us it would be a while until our food came out so we finally decided to just leave. The manager that was there clearly didn't care that we were unhappy and didn't even address us. This is our second time here with bad service so we will not be back. read more

The staff is very friendly once you walk in. My server was really polite and knew exactly when to check up on us. The only reason I'm taking away 1 star is because of the cook with her hair in a bun. The hours are completely unreasonable. They're not open early enough to serve coffee when it's needed and close midafternoon when people start to need their second dose of caffeine. Makes no sense to me, I won't be scheduling my coffee breaks around their hours. read more

went yesterday for brunch and got the breakfast sandwich and a blueberry tea and my GOD it was so good. truly the best spot for brunch ive been in a long time and possibly ever. the potatoes were crisped to perfection, the eggs were cooked wonderfully with the yolk still being slightly runny (just how i like it), and to top it all off, the service was incredible. our waitress was super sweet. also the music they played was incredible and definitely a brunch vibe. i hope i get to come back again soon read more

The food is delicious, and I like that they have a punch card for your coffees (but a certain amount and get one free). This is my favorite breakfast/lunch place in town. The food and service are fantastic. I love their avocado toast and fried green tomato sandwiches. The coffee is brewed to perfection and the wait staff makes certain that your cup is always filled to the brim. The owner has added to his baked goods and they are worth the calories. Went in on Saturday morning was seated immediately. Not greeted at all by the hostess, just seated at table. Not to busy at all. A lot of waiters and waitresses standing around, and what looked to be two managers walking around the little, nice looking quaint restaurant. I sat looking at the menu for about seven minutes before I got up and left, because nobody ever came to my table to ask me anything or greet me. A family of four arrived at the same time was seated and someone was at their table immediately. I dont know what the issue was but I dont think I will return. read more

Let me start off with the good: I had the hash which good, a little heavy on the potatoes vs meat and veggies but still very tasty. The coffee was good for breakfast place standards and didn't taste bitter or overbrewed. The two pieces of sourdough were fresh and toasted perfectly plus they didn't butter it immediately so they weren't soggy when I got them. Now on to my reasoning for only 3 stars: This was my first time to Hearth Cafe and I had heard good things about it from friends who have gone. It's a smaller place compared to Our Place or Old West Cafe and doesn't have an over abundance of tables. I walked in behind another couple where were talking to what I could ascertain as a manager type. I didn't receive a Hi or Hello since he was talking to the couple but saw as he directed a waitress to seat me. This would have been fine until I saw the lonely table for two people (it was just me eating) in the back next to the server station, hard by the entrance to the bathrooms and within arms reach of a large group (15+) of moms and babies. Just to be clear, I have zero problems with the group but I didn't want to sit next to them and listen to their conversation since that's how close this table was. I asked the waitress why I was being put back here and she said that's the only available table...which was not true I saw a table that needed to be bussed up front. Here is my issue, since I was not greeted or even asked if the small table in the back was ok it was lost on them that I was in no hurry and would have rather waited 5 minutes for the front table than sit back there. So after 10 minutes of stewing in my cup of coffee, I asked to sit at one of the two tables up front that were now empty and my current waitress (different from the first) was more than accommodating and understood why I wanted to change. I watched as two manager types made their way around tables making sure all was good but never received such treatment. I finished my food, which took longer than normal due to being input after the party, paid and left. Moral of the story: the food was good, the server was good, food service took longer than normal and customer service from the managing types was shit. Won't return with the other good options in town. read more

Very nice menu with a great variety of entrees. I had the avocado toast with Sweet Tea. The was just the right amount of sweet (I could actually taste the tea).
