I so wanted to love this place. I had heard about it online, and it is close to home. I walked in on a Friday night at 6:30 and the place was strangely empty. Only two people sitting at a table. Beforehand, I had looked at the menu online and decided on the Molten Philly Madness. It sounded like an ooey, gooey, meaty cheesesteak sandwich. Just what I was in the mood for. The menu I found online showed the cost as $12.99. As I placed my order, I saw they had already raised the prices of all their sandwiches about 50 cents - this one was now $13.50. (A small bags of potato chips were $2.00!) Surprise #1. She asked if I would like a receipt, and when I looked at it, saw they had added a 51 cent "convenience fee" for me using my ATM card. (A little sign by the cash register or a mention of this fee beforehand would be a nice way to warn their patrons.) Surprise #2. I was next expecting to hear spatulas clanging on the flattop while they prepared my cheesesteak sandwich. Silence. I guess the meat is pre-chopped and pre-cooked somewhere else - not to order. I got my sandwich and opened it, with high expectations. Surprise #3. It had a nice crust on the outside, but very minimal ingredients. It certainly wasn't *molten*, nor did it have any crazy *madness* to it. I like a cheesy sandwich and thought this would have fit the bill, but sadly not so. To summarize, just a very average sandwich, that was overpriced. With fees and taxes, it was $15.12 out the door. I would have been happier with it, paying about $8.00 or so. Also, they have a website domain, but no website. Why? For less money, I will just continue driving across town to Dino's for an outstanding sandwich and experience.

Our meal did take quite a while to come out but both sandwiches were delicious and the other menu items also looked tasty. I want to come back and try more of the sandwiches and toasts!

Chicken Bacon Ranch, Tomato Bisque, Chips - side of Sriracha

Clean no frills place. Relatively quick service considering how busy they were. Cool menu with 4 House Speciality sandwiches- the Chicken Bacon Ranch was really good - smeared a bit of hot sauce on the side. Tomato Bisque was the standout of the meal. Skip the chips and go with the soup! I'll be back for sure!

This is a hidden gem! - truly. The menu is full of tasty sandwiches and coffee under the "Expresso Yourself" box of the menu. I tired the Righteous Iced Latte (brown sugar and cinnamon) and it was delicious. After grabbing coffee, I made my way into the hidden bookstore- similar to a speak easy! The sweetest young lady explained the books, merch and an entire wall of local authors. Who knew that Arlington had so many talented writers! I can't wait to return when I'm not rushed! So excited to have Smash Toast amongst us! A simple breakfast (served all day) and lunch spot -- sandwiches, soups, salads (with gluten free options) -- and a little bookstore inside?! Well that's right up my alley. Casual, affordable, comfortable, not-overly-complicated, easy-breezy-cheese-y with a side of literature. I had the "Killed Cheese," a three-cheese ooey-gooey sandwich on gluten free bread with a side of chips, plus an iced latte with "Righteous" syrup (brown sugar cinnamon). Everything was delicious. My only disappointment was that I forgot to order the tomato soup as well.. oops. Definitely next time. Jon had the "Molten Philly Madness" on sourdough and it smelled incredible -- he ate every bite. Smash Toast makes fresh bread daily. Their menu is small but mighty and I look forward to visiting regularly. read more

I came here for book trivia night. I ordered a "killed cheese" sandwich and a vanilla latte. You order at the countertop and they bring your meal to you when it's ready. The toasted cheese sandwich was great! Perfectly grilled, not too greasy, generously cheesy. It came with a side of potato chips which they took out of the mini-bag and put in the basket. The latte was smooth and not overly sweet. There's a mini-bookstore tucked away in the back, stocked with romance novels, special editions, jewelry and other small gifts. Check it out! read more

We got the chicken bacon ranch. It was pretty good. We also got the build your own turkey. It was pretty good. Very small portions though. The amount of meat is small. The waffle sandwich was so small, I was shocked when it wa handed to me and so disappointed. This place is definitely over priced. I want to support local businesses but the amount of food for the money, it's just not worth it. It did have a cool atmosphere and friendly staff!!! This is a waffle split with maybe a half an egg and maybe a quarter piece of bacon for over 11 dollars. read more

I was excited to try out this cute little restaurant with a hidden library! Unfortunately, they added contaminated bacon to my sandwich (that i didn't order) and it gave me a bacterial gut infection that could last up to six months!! It has been a month almost to the day since i ate there and i still am having bad symptoms. I'm perfectly healthy otherwise. They need to be reported for giving me this parasite! Don't risk it! Not worth it one bit. Ive spent a lot of money running bloodwork and lab work to find out it was their pork that was mishandled in a big way. So disgusting! Tin Cup about a mile away is 100 % better and safe too! read more

I had never even heard of this place when our Book Club met there. It was delicious--the best tomato basil soup I've ever had in my life and a great sandwich. There is even a little seating area for children to sit and read or play. The staff was polite and helpful. We ordered with ease. I like that there is plenty of seating areas inside, two different outside patios downstairs, seating on a second level and another huge patio area upstairs. To get upstairs, you can take the stairs or use the elevator. Besides beverages, you can purchase pastries and merchandise such as t-shirts. This is definitely one of those little shops to come, sit and work while you sip your tea or coffee. It's Uber cute and trendy. Check it out!!

However, they also have a free parking lot (1st floor only) found on the same block. Bathrooms are single stalls and they have always been clean.

Customer service is okay, let me say that every person there has been extremely pleasant but out of the four times I've been there, only once I didn't have an issue. They seem to enough their jobs & working together, which is a green flag for any place, but sometimes they get distracted. One time I stood there & staff was chatting in the corner, a good amount of time passed before anyone noticed me. Another time, they just forgot my drink (it was the only thing in my order) & there were no other order left... the group was again chatting away with with each other, then during another visit they forgot my croissant. Each time they did apologize, but three out of four times aren't good odds. I probably won't frequent this location as much, but I will stop by once in awhile because their drinks are worth it.

But it is small space, so I wouldn't take a group of people there and I wouldn't be super surprised if I went there one Saturday and couldn't find a place to sit. They have great menu options plus, they will often add a seasonal menu. They have plenty of seating in the coffee shop so, you can always find a spot to study or catch up. I have never had a bad experience and I have been coming here for the last 4 years. I always suggest getting a hot chai latte and a sweet treat. Free parking can be found around the shop. However, they also have a free parking lot (1st floor only) found on the same block. Bathrooms are single stalls and they have always been clean.

I had a spice level two, their spice levels are a bit more intense than I expected but it was still good. I usually start out with two at a new place then work my way up upon return visits, just my opinion that level two had a bit more heat than expected. Customer service was good, prices were fair, & the portions sizes are plentiful. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

When we pulled into the parking lot, we immediately noticed how full it was. Once we walked in, there was a great amount of people sitting around, possibly having meetings and working. It was barely 11 am on a Tuesday. My coworkers and I were able to get coffee and charge our devices. There is an abundance of charging outlets all over. There is even a little seating area for children to sit and read or play. The staff was polite and helpful. We ordered with ease. I like that there is plenty of seating areas inside, two different outside patios downstairs, seating on a second level and another huge patio area upstairs. To get upstairs, you can take the stairs or use the elevator. Besides beverages, you can purchase pastries and merchandise such as t-shirts. This is definitely one of those little shops to come, sit and work while you sip your tea or coffee. It's Uber cute and trendy. Check it out!!

The greens, corn nuggets, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad were all excellent. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was relaxing, the customer service at the front counter was spot on, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we received. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because of an interaction that left a disappointing impression. The owner appeared to be making his way around the restaurant greeting guests. He stopped by our table, warmly greeted and spoke with my son, then moved on without ever acknowledging me or my wife. It may have been completely unintentional, but it left us feeling overlooked. As someone who serves in ministry and regularly recommends businesses to church members, friends, and professional contacts, I left thinking this could have become one of my go-to recommendations. Unfortunately, that interaction changed what could have been a great relationship with the restaurant. One thing I've learned in life is that you never know who's sitting at your table. A simple greeting can turn a customer into a loyal supporter. The food was excellent, and I sincerely wish this business continued success. I simply hope future guests receive the same level of hospitality as the quality of food being served.
