My son has had feeding challenges since he was 6 months old. I frankly noticed it earlier, but since he was bottle fed, his sensory difficulties did not pose a problem until we introduced solids. We sought out ACT as early as 8 months to help address his gagging and food avoidant behaviors. It may have been too early an intervention, I may not have been ready myself... for many reasons, we postponed this intervention until now, when Michael is 17 months and struggling to eat solids only. Today, before our teletherapy session began, a very brash owner took over Michael's therapy session to inform me that we were not demonstrating progress and will therefore be dropped. Shawn takes "great pride" in her practice's ability to "demonstrate progress", and because improvements were not being made, I was told I should seek care elsewhere. A lot of logical reasons were offered. Yes, my parenting approach seeks to validate my child's emotional experience and certainly I can improve on how I inadvertently "reward and punish" my son's picky eating and avoidant behaviors. Sure, Michael would benefit from an in person visit with a practitioner who can teach me how to properly manage Michael's crying tantrums on the high chair. My favorite was the "sincere" feedback this owner felt deeply that should be spoken, now, before even allowing our session to start, with a promise that she was not trying to run my son and I out of her practice. Referrals to the nearest graduate school near me were so sweetly offered. Wondering what patients rights and responsibilities are for this practice. I'm currently wondering what this practitioner's rights and responsibilities for care are. Of course, no health plan intervention or grievance will matter at this point as the practice won't be enrolling with our PPO in a month or so. May this perhaps be considered patient abandonment? Is this ethical care under AOTA or CBOT? I'm guessing the practice owner washed her hands from this by promising referrals. Nice save! Long story short, clearly this is a business. Clearly, this business does not put patients first and clearly this business owner prunes for high quality outcomes, perhaps hoping to improve clinical reputation even if the cost is patient abandonment. Thank you for making me aware of the business dynamics dictating the quality of care my son may have access to. It's too bad that your behavior, or rather your "sincere" yet unexpected intervention, undermines your practice's ability to partner with and empower parents, while also undermining the effectiveness of the therapists you hire. Samantha is wonderful, patient and caring. She could have certainly had a direct conversation with me with exponentially better outcomes. What a lost opportunity for her development. I'm sharing this experience and my review with you all because I'm dissatisfied with what happened today. I'm not looking for resolution because I won't trust my son's care to this practice anymore. This was truly unfortunate.

The staff here especially RANDI as well as the PTA's were so helpful, all exercises definitely played a big role. I feel great. Randi was an absolute gem, she was so sweet, helpful and easy going- she made a difficult time enjoyable. All PTAs that helped me, Dawson, Grace, I think the names were Carina and Alex? not sure but every PTA that helped me were awesome, so nice and very helpful and encouraging. PT Caren was also awesome ! She helped me when I was unable to see Randi and was great to work with. The complete front desk were always so welcoming and nice when interacting with them and great when it came to rescheduling visits due to auth issues or scheduling issues. During this time of covid, it is important to ensure safety protocol was being followed. It definitely was. The facility had hand sanitizer the moment you walked in the lobby and available in the gym area and treatment rooms. The staff was quick to clean all workout equipment right after you finished using it, all weights, bands, floor mats, the balls and the tables were cleaned right away. Everyone was masked and they ensured that everyone in there followed it. Even when it was busy, they had great team work to make sure everyone was being taken care of in between and during exercises. I definitely do not plan to be in physical therapy again or have any injuries but will definitely miss seeing these friendly faces especially Randi! If you ever need physical therapy, Two Trees in Ventura on Loma Vista is hands down the best!

As someone pursuing a career in speech-language pathology, I am so grateful for everything I was able to learn during my time here, as well as the connections I built. I had the opportunity to observe a variety of therapy sessions and learn about different treatment approaches. One thing that really stood out to me was how the SLP's create such a positive, fun, and comfortable environment for their clients while still working towards their individual goals. My experience at Mosaic not only taught me so much about the field but also strengthened my passion for becoming an SLP. I am so grateful to have been part of such an amazing team and would highly recommend Mosaic Therapy Collective to anyone looking for a caring, knowledgeable, and dedicated group of SLPs!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Mosaic Therapy! Our 7-year-old son, who is on the autism…read morespectrum, has been receiving services here for over three years, and the progress he has made--especially with his speech--has been truly incredible. Our 2-year-old daughter has also been attending for the past three months, and we are already seeing such meaningful improvements. The therapists at Mosaic are beyond wonderful--so kind, patient, and genuinely invested in each child's growth. Their talent, compassion, and dedication shine through in everything they do. Caitlin has been our therapist the whole time and she is the best in Santa Barbara in my opinion. This place has truly changed our family's life for the better, and we are so grateful for the support and care we've received. We wholeheartedly recommend Mosaic Therapy to any family looking for high-quality, compassionate care for their children with special needs.
