I was also in A LOT of pain at first, so it's been slow going. I can't thank and praise Kathy Doubleday and the staff enough for their kindness, and patience with me. I am realizing that physiotherapy is different for everyone. For some of us it is merely physical, and for others like me, it is at a deeper, psychological level where many of our wounds are physically invisible. We have had to wade through those levels along with a few physical exercises. It's taking some time as I become aware of some basics which I needed, like inner tuning to my body and what it needs now, at 73 , because the needs of an aging body are different from those of someone half my age. As I walk and sit, I am remembering a new posture which lengthens and straightens, and my intuitive awareness is kicking in. We're not finished yet, and I look forward to more of this kind of physio which works on many levels. Many many thanks to Kathy especially, who is someone I have learned to trust, which is truly remarkable, for me, as trust doesn't come easily.

I scheduled as a new patient but chose not to move forward after reviewing the paperwork and asking…read morequestions about a billing policy that I believe patients should be aware of before starting care. Their new patient paperwork states that a $100 "Administrative Fee" is due at the time of evaluation, is not billed to insurance, and is charged "per case." I was told over the phone that different referral areas, such as cervical spine and lumbar spine, could be treated as separate cases. When I called for clarification, the office confirmed that this fee is for internal administrative tasks such as maintaining the patient profile, correspondence with doctors, referrals, and related office communications. They also confirmed it is charged in addition to insurance copays/coinsurance and is not billed to insurance because they consider it "non-medical." Patients using Tricare, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, or any in-network insurance plan should be very careful before paying this type of fee. For covered medical care, your patient responsibility should generally be determined by your insurance plan/EOB - such as copay, deductible, or coinsurance - not by a separate office-created "administrative," "access," or "per case" fee. Tricare/TriWest specifically told me that both the facility and PT were in-network for my plan and that contracted providers may not charge beneficiaries separate administrative, concierge, or access fees for medical services. The Tricare/TriWest Provider Handbook states: "Providers may not charge TRICARE beneficiaries administrative fees." This is especially concerning for elderly, disabled, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and military-family patients who may assume that if a front desk asks for payment, they are legally required to pay it. Before paying any separate fee like this, I strongly recommend calling your insurance plan and asking: Is this provider in-network for my exact plan? Are they allowed to collect a separate administrative/access fee in addition to my copay, deductible, or coinsurance? Should I pay anything that is not shown as my responsibility on an EOB? I cannot speak to the quality of the physical therapy itself because I canceled before being seen. But I did not feel comfortable receiving care from a practice that required this type of fee and did not respond to my written questions asking what non-covered service the fee was for.

They charged a $100 "administrative fee". Because they accept Medicare, it is illegal for them to…read morecharge Medicare patients this extra fee. But the actual physical therapy was OK. It's just their billing that needs to change.

Working with Alli has made my overall wellness routine more effective and balanced. My goals are a long-term sustainable healthy lifestyle. Alli asked critical questions to learn about my health and fitness goals and listened to the areas that challenged me. We developed a simple weekly workout routine (including gym and outdoor activities, e.g., hiking and surfing) focused on the balance my body needed for weekly and long-term wellness. I am grateful for the four assessment tips I am mindful of in all activities. Without seeing Alli, these adjustments would have taken me years to realize and implement on my own, if ever. For that, I would have paid double. I suggest seeing Alli for an assessment, whether you are resolving a known challenge and or looking to improve your ability to explore our beautiful landscape via your passions.

This review pertains to the practice, not the therapist. My physical therapist is wonderful, but if…read moreI need PT in the future I will go elsewhere. The issue is administrative - Sutter dictates that you can only make two appointments in a row instead of scheduling further out. The problem is that very often there is no availability. My therapist has instructed me to return weekly, but, for me, half the time the appointments end up being every two weeks. That has made it more difficult for me to meet my treatment goals - the therapist says we will add something new next week, but it ends up being two weeks later. That not only means that it takes much longer to complete your treatment, but the long gaps can lead to a less successful result. Update: I found this note in my Sutter chart: This patient got all rude as soon as she couldn't get an appt when SHE wanted. She is non post op and doesn't understand why Sutter Health has a policy of only 2 appts at a time when SHE needs to get in. She said she wrote a bad review about our practice and will continue to talk bad about our practice, but not the therapists. She is very unhappy and says she will probably look elsewhere. It is not like it was a matter of my convenience and I insisted on mornings when they offered afternoons or I wanted a Monday and they offered a Tuesday. I was trying to comply with my therapist's instructions to return weekly - it had nothing to do with what "I" wanted - but it is true, I don't understand why they only make two appointments ahead. I have had lots of PT over the years and they have always scheduled multiple appointments at the start of treatment and sometimes even all of the appointments for the duration of the treatment plan. In addition, I absolutely did not say that I talked "bad" about the practice. What I said is that I could not recommend it to others because of the way they schedule appointments. I stand by that opinion, and I should I need PT in the future I will absolutely seek care elsewhere.
