It looked exactly like the kind of yoga studio I've always imagined, so I decided to take a class here on my last day. I'm so glad I did! I really loved Rebecca's class. She is a very experienced teacher, and her seemingly simple Vinyasa sequences were much more challenging than they looked. The next day, my glutes and thighs were definitely feeling it! More than the physical practice, I loved how calm and grounded I felt after class. One thing Rebecca said really stayed with me: "Without the breath, your asana is nothing." Such a beautiful practice and such a wonderful teacher. I'm so glad I found this place during my trip and would absolutely come back next time I'm in the area. Namaste read more

Recommend to yogis, beginners, everyone in between! Me and friend tried this place (we bought the 3 day visitor pass) since we're doing a weekend trip in Ojai and it is so cute. Taking a Shivakali morning class with Chrissy last week was the highlight of our weekend trip to Ojai. The studio itself is the most beautiful and airy space. Simply being in it was incredibly regenerative on this particular sunny spring morning. I haven't felt so at peace for months. Big glass doors were opened into an enclosed zen garden behind the building. Gentle breezes came in and the sunbeams felt incredible. This was the first yoga class I'd taken in about 15 years, so I was rusty to say the least. But Chrissy was great at making sure that people of varying experience levels in the room got a personalized class. We also had local musician Dave Cipriani playing live during the class, which was next level. I believe he was playing a hansa vina (Indian slide guitar) in addition to a classical guitar. We enjoyed the music so much that we came back to the studio that evening for his Talking Strings event with several other musicians. The group played traditional Griot compositions and performed instrumental improvisations on cello, West African harp, the Hansa Vina and other instruments. Both the class and musical event are experiences I'll never forget. The price of the class was reasonable, at least by L.A. standards. This one was $24. It was worth every penny. I can't wait to vacation in Ojai again and spend the majority of my time at Light and Space. There's a ton of great programming happening all the time. read more

Such an amazing yoga studio with the most beautiful energy from teachers and students alike. I am visiting Ojai for the weekend and initially was going to just do 1 drop in class - but decided to do the weekender and come back again today. I took the restorative class last night and the hatha + breath class today. And I will be back again tomorrow before I head back to LA! I also love the vinyl offerings, and scored an amazing Jon Lucien album (which I've been looking for). Thank you Serge & Sam for creating such a wonderful space. There's something for everyone here . Whether you're a beginner , intermediate , or advanced. The studio isn't overflowing with people so there's always room to stretch your arms and legs out. I bring my 8 year old daughter in with me to share our practice together . Not many studios engage with her the way many of the instructors here do. She ( we ) feels welcomed , safe , and happy . I enjoy looking over and having one of the instructors aligning her while whispering to her how well she is doing. It's brings joy to me knowing we found a place to call home . I highly recommend experimenting with taking new classes you typically wouldn't take . You'll be pleasantly surprised! read more

Light and Space is the new kid on the Ojai yoga block, and it is definitely putting down roots. The owners have invested much love, cash, and attention into providing a solid container for students to transform. I love the blend of seasoned, local Ojai yoga instructors as well as new faces on the scene. The studio aesthetic is an unparalleled Ojai-chic, and the equipment is state of the art. (I'm sure the photos will roll in soon.) Overall, this place is already impressive, and has a lot of potential to be phenomenal. There are still a few corners that need smoothing out in the yoga program offerings, and the owners and staff are on it. They are actively taking feedback, and working through the kinks. It's not very yogic to compare yoga studios to others, but if you're trying to make a decision on where to park your mat, and you can't "feel your way through" at the moment, here's a quick summary of my experience of L + S compared to some of the other haunts: * The price-point is currently more than reasonable than other studios in town * The majority of classes tend to be more yang/vinyasa-based, and good for people who have a regular yoga practice, and are familiar with the poses * This studio and staff run a tight ship--in a good way. Most classes start on time, the check-in process is crisp, if you've come at least once, they will likely know your name * It feels more "LA" as a whole--more polished and slightly more commercial than other studios in Ojai. (See the retro, but in-working-order tape deck, alongside actual cassette tapes for sale in the lobby.) Some people may think Ojai needs more of that, some people like things more understated. I love this place. I have had for different teachers and all have been great in different ways. I love the space it is so open and has great energy. I love them because you can choose to get your sweat on or have a more restorative practice. If you are looking for a new yoga spot I would 100% choose light and space. I've taken a few yoga classes with Light and Space and they've all been amazing. All of the instructors I've had classes with have been excellent, and have practices that are accessible for beginners and also great for people more experienced with yoga. As good as it gets, my friends! This beautiful space is, you guessed it... full of Light... the kind of light you experience through practice, meditation, human interaction and vibration. The classes are diverse, and I'm guessing more options are on the way. The teachers are genuinely happy to see you, offering a hug after class if you choose to introduce yourself. So much love has gone into the creation of this studio/community gathering, the focus on May All Beings Be Happy And Free... lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu. I'm intrigued by the intention of the owners, the teachers, the light and the space provided for those of us seeking. I'm very grateful that this studio exists in Ojai! I've gone to classes with five different teachers so far and all are amazing in their unique way. The room lives up to it's name and feels naturally spacious and light even in a full class. Light and Space is definitely a solid place to maintain your practice.
